This video is the first in a pivot towards being a "storytelling" channel rather than a photography one. It's well documented that I just haven't got what it takes to be a full blown photography channel, so I hope you enjoy this new style of video. Please let me know your thoughts below 👇😁
Sorry. I don't agree. Your photography is very enjoyable whether street or landscape. However, I can understand as a working and family man how it might take a lot of time that isn't easily available. So, I'll just say, mixing it up is a good thing. Full time landscape channels only ever do gear videos as a break from the usual and so, I look forward to seeing what you do next.
I never wear earbuds. In the car I'll have the radio or a CD on, but I can still hear traffic sounds. When I'm out walking, even the town streets, I want to hear the world, and it keeps me 'present'. Also, I'm the guy that says Hi to people I pass even when we don't know each other. Why? Because it enhances the sense of community. And, certainly never in nature. There isn't any music I can think of that enhances the visuals more than natures own sounds. Good topic mate, and nice to see you again. Cheers - Trevor
Very nice video my friend, love the music of nature. I love to venture out and capture the songs of birds, just me the dog and recording equipment. It is challenging trying to capture that perfect bird song, as every minute or so a Boeing flies overhead. Big like 👍🐶🐶🐶
Your video is proof that my subscription was a great decision! There are already so many photography channels that ONLY want to please the UA-cam algorithm. Please continue your path, I for one like it very, very much. Peter; licensed psychotherapist, photographer, engineer, traveler, ... and watching your video's with pleasure 🙂
I love the new style of video, Joshua. To me, going out with my camera and documenting my outings is vital to my wellbeing. Doing so in nature is a bonus. I love when you said that in nature you're never alone. It's so true. Thank you for such an uplifting video.
I loved it when you said something about the lens you would need to photograph the birds would literally cost as much as your car! I know that the cost of photography is not the subject of your video, but it did kind of put it into perspective. I think I'll stick to landscape photography and listening to the birds! 😁😁
I’m a fairly recent transplant to Florida & the bird scene is unreal. I feel you on the lens issue. It’s a full time job trying to get great pics with ‘affordable’ equipment. Sitting around in the blazing sun, getting destroyed by bugs, and gravitating toward lazy/more human friendly birds, simply because I can get closer. Some of the shots are absolutely worth it, but I do wish some of this equipment was more consumer friendly. And frickin lighter! Switching to mirrorless soon, because I’m disabled & I really need a lighter kit, as well. Love your content & wish you well in whatever direction you take it. Be you. ✌️
I've been increasing my efforts of taking long hikes in the forest near I live for the past 2 weeks. I found myself stopping and just listening multiple times. You've put my experience into very well formulated words! Great video, well done on the production quality and content - this format was really enjoyable!
@Joshua, It's true what you say. Birdsongs are beautiful to listen to. Something that modern and busy people often forget. Be blessed with the ability to experience this and enjoy it while you can.
I love to sit in the garden and watch and listen to the Red Kites circling and calling to each other. Lockdown made very little difference to us sound wise, we live down a dead end, 3rd house from the end, so we get zero through traffic and it's very unusual to even hear talking in the street 🙂
Dude, what i wouldnt do to set up a camp and hang out in the forrest listenting to the sounds of the forrest with my dog, siting around a fire. Im stuck hear in lawless london
Just discovered your channel. I’m new to photography, about 18 months now. Binge watching to catch up. I really enjoy the mix of guidance, information and fun. Keep it up please 😊
Mindfulness Joshua away from all of life's pressures listening to and being totally immersed in the sounds and atmosphere of nature. There was a garden at Chelsea Show this year with a theme of forest bathing. Another great video I like your new tack and wish you continued success with videos like this I have no doubt that your subsciber numbers will increase fast.
Very good video, thanks. Looks like more than 300k years of human evolution in nature can’t be erased by a sigle century of sound pollution. We really needs to take sound (and light) pollution more seriously. Not only it would be better for our health but also … for photography ^^
I walk my dog 4 times a day. We go out into the fields and forest without any form "noise" to pass on the time. I've said good morning to many a dog walker, only to find they are wearing ear buds and missing out on so much of nature's noise. They pay little or no attention to their dog while I'm constantly talking to mine. It's called," Communication". Even worse, they walk in front, scrolling on their mobile, talking to someone at 7 in the morning.... Drives me bonkers. Listen to the sounds, talk to your dog. FFS!

You are a natural storyteller. Normally, I watch videos at 1.5x or 2x speed, but not yours. I gladly watch yours till the end.
That’s great to hear Diego 🙏🏼

@Joshua,

Combine fly fishing and photography and you have the prefect combination for listening to nature.

Sounds very tranquil 😁
I love how you document and incorporate photography. Still your composition to your shots is just so good. Well done
As a lover of birds and a fan of your content, I enjoyed this video. Good stuff!

Fantastic content you got here Joshua, you just earned a sub!
Great video. Thanks for posting it.
I don't think I have ever even thought of using headphones outdoors.
Love the new direction. Looking forward to more video assays
Very interesting and inspiring! Thank you!
And I also like the colors of your video footage. I am curious how you got those.
I spent a lot of time learning how to correctly colour grade my footage. I used to be really bad at it but think I’m getting there now
Great video, really true thoughts. I Love your style and picture language. Top. 👍🏻
Thanks so much!
that's beautiful, especially the finches photo!

Listen to headphones in a car .... Naaahhhhhhhh .... Even with the car stereo on, I turn down the music to see better!! lolololol
To answer your question. Always. Always. Always. There is no replacement for the sound of nature. It's such a shame that modernity takes it all away.
