I honestly think this is more of prob for content creators. I Don't pigeon hole myself to one style of photography , if conditions are not great for landscape, I do some street , macro or product photography in the comfort of my home (sounds boring but it's really neat making a little scene and creating something of nothing) or failing that I go for walk with the camera and if I get no decent photos no big deal and I just enjoy the walk and being in the fresh air.
Lets be real , how many pictures of trees do we really need lol
We're nearing mid-April and the "grey and rain" still hasn't stopped. Hoping for better conditions soon! 😄👍

Thanks for clarifying something I Intuitively thought but didn't nail down. A photo should have a narrative no matter how subtle.
If the light anit right get rid of colour.
Something Film photography has shown me is that B&W like clouds over clear blue skies.
Kill the saturation and crank the contrast in your digital "flat" work and see what I mean.
Above is being in the right place when nature happens! I live on the shores of the next great lake over Lake Ontario. Taken lots of weather related photos over the years, but never this due to deeper lake and different wind direction.

Glad your back for the new year, and feeling better. I know how you feel I was out yesterday for the first time this year and not pleased with any of my photos but at least I got out. The one thing we can count on is everything changes and sometimes even to our advantage so we just have to keep getting out there. Good luck in the new year Joshua.

Happy New year ! I took lack motivation this time of year! I find myself taking more ‘random’ shots , street photography and more black and white this time of year. Thankfully i dont have a portfolio to worry about so can still get some photos im happy with. Roll on springtime and better light ! Almost 15k Subscribers Josh👍

dead, boring, light has been my life for about a month now lol. The sun doesn't shine here. Ive been leaning into like you said, I've been embracing the flat white skies and I've been trying to find other things that normally I wouldn't photograph. Great video!

Josh can i ask you something about the EF 50mm 1.8 STM i bought yesterday? On the camera of the guy i bought it from the tube goes in by itself when he turn off his camera. On my 2000D it does not. Is there a secret setting in the camera to make the lens do it by its own? I have to push it in by hand when i turn my camera off. @@TheJoshuaPeg

I'm going through the same thing right now in spokane wa below freezing 0 degrees and no snow just cloudy gray scene with low uv light

Hilarious! I have the same complaint where I live, only, it's not endless grey days, but endless blue skies! ARGHH!!! BORING!! :-) I feel every bit of what you are describing Josh! I'm glad to have multiple hobbies some days!
If it's boring or ugly outside, you can always take pics inside.

Such a great video, true and helpful. I lost my mojo a few months back after over 20 years as a photographer. I sold all my gear and thought that was it, however, the "Photographer in me" I had to give it another go. So my wife and I had a trip planned to Glencoe just last week, but I didn't buy another camera I used my iPhone 14 pro max. The results were good and above all enjoyable with no expectations. Looking at the images some highlights are blown, and there is noise but it got me back into photography. I can relate very much to your story, so thanks again. Cheers Ian (UK)

I live in Tokyo and there is a large red light district close by (Kabukicho) it’s always got amazing stories/narratives going on to photograph. You might have an equivalent nearby?
Experiencing exactly this during my first ever photography sessions. Just accepted it and shot a bit more B&W. Got some great shots :). Also what did you do in your photography or edit to get the colours on 4:16 popping that much and the image looking that dreamy?
Good light is more important than if you are using the most expensive camera.
Good content, though could do without the distraction of the faux-film-light-bleed effect.

Same problem here - nothing but rubbish light and rain for weeks. The cold days don't help as it's hard to motivate myself to go out and come back without even switching the camera on.

I thought after the wet summer last year we'd have more mist and fog this winter but there's been very little where I am (SE).
Snap...(Deliberate Pun) Horrible cold/flu in early December and Cough/Cold again in late December that has dragged on and on...along with grey weather in Pembrokeshire. However cough finally petered out a few days back and the sun came out!
Seems to be happening to everyone at the mo!
