Hundreds of millions of kids dream of becoming footballers. Few ever make it to the professional level and even fewer make it to the top winning 2 PL titles, reaching a WC semi final and winning several individual awards. Hazard's move to Madrid did not work out as planned but he did not fail. He lived an impossible dream and will go down as a PL legend.

Same thing happened to coutihno. It was the wrong transfer. Once you find your form it’s better if you stay at that club. Even Jurgen klopp told him to stay and he would be one of the best players in Liverpool. I may not be a liverpool or Chelsea fan but wow they were so good in their prime. I’m a lifelong Chelsea fan and I’ve seen some incredible players but no one was like Hazard. I always say we’ve had ‘greater’ players like Terry, Zola, Drogba etc, but Hazard on pure ability was a cut above anyone, he could make a casual football fan a genuine football fan, he’d make you fall in love with the game himself … What a player …

He could have maintained his skill level or even become better. Injuries were part of it tho you can still bounce back of injuries if you had the worth ethic and that top mentality. So proud that I've seen our Belgian generation play with Hazard as their crown jewel. What a player he was for us.
Most might say our generation failed, but I think we really did well. 3rd on a world cup, for a country like Belgium is one hell of an achievement. How he played back then, he was just a joy to watch. Like the best player in the world.
He realised his dream move to Real Madrid but 1 tackle on his ankle against PSG was the last straw which he never recovered from. But his last couple of years won't wash away the rest of his carreer.
    Une grande merci, Eden!

I think all the doom and gloom about Eden Hazard is recency bias. He's been a pro since 17 so it's not inconceivable that his body wore down after over a decade of playing every minute of every game. In my mind it's between him suarez and neymar as the third best player of the Ronaldo/Messi era and I don't think 4 bad years in madrid undoes the magic he created at Stamford Bridge. In 10 years I think people will only remember the highlights and forget the disappointing madrid transfer, especially as transfer fees continue to go up.

oh man. I can't even explain the feeling I got when I read about him retiring. so much is happening with this one era of football slowly getting replaced with this new era. another legend down, we've lost Ibrahimovic, buffon, and now Eden hazard. the dream is over boys. us playing at the park or even not at the park, at the back of an indoor football field using the back of the net as our own Net, doing Messi and Ronaldo's goal celebration when we score against each other. and as another legendary player for us retires, another one rises, a youth player that has a chance to do so much more. so while we're sad about the men we used to look up to leaving, there's another generation being built for ones younger than us to look up at the same way we used to look up our legends. farewell eden, it's been a good run.

The teams around him were always good enough to fight for the title but never seen as guaranteed winners. As a Chelsea fan, they never really built a team strong enough to battle on all fronts. When he joined, the team was being rebuilt and then they let promising players go when they appointed Mourinho. He was as you said very laid back but his teams were never as stacked as those as Messi or Ronaldo. He created TONS of chances but missing opportunities has been a Chelsea trait for many years. Not many of his critics ever saw him play many times to understand him or his career.

I forgot who said this (I think it was Mourinho?), but the common theme around why he never reached the level of Messi or Ronaldo was because he didn't put in the effort/extra work during training. The fact that he could still go out on matchdays and do the things that he did and "not even try" will always be insane to me. Hazard gave me the best years of my life as a Chelsea fan and I will always remember him fondly for that goal against Arsenal (yes you know which one) as well as tearing it up at the 2018 world cup (he was robbed of the golden ball). Eden Hazard Retires - 10th October 2023
"People in love with football in this country, people must be in love with Eden Hazard." - Jose Mourinho.
"I'm proud to have him in my team. I'm really happy to work with him. He has a lot of space for improvement to become one of the best player in the world." - Antonio Conte.
"I love him. Since the day he had arrived at Chelsea, I could see the potential, the natural ability. He was the main man at Chelsea and the Premiere League loves watching him." - Frank Lampard.
"Switch on the TV look at him and you immediately realize his qualities. An exceptional player, one of the best players in the world." - Pep Guardiola.
"Hazard one of the best players in Europe but now I'm changing my mind, maybe he is the best now." - Maurizio Sarri (2018-2019).
"We try deep defending but then giving the ball away to Eden Hazard. WOW. Not the most thankful job I would say to defend him alone. With a second player a little bit more easy, with a third player you have a good chance" - Jurgen Klopp.
"I think the way match after match, he is being punished by opponents and not being protected by the referees, maybe one day we don't have a Eden Hazard." - Jose Mourinho..

People say rmadrid and ancelotti runied his career but if were being honest stuffs like this can happen to anybody, keep in mind footballers are still human, coupled with the fact that he had devastating injuries and his fitness levels were bad,he wasnt really that player that took everything seriously and it was his uniqueness i feel that cost him most.

From what others have said about him it seems he was happy with the level he’d reached and didn’t feel the need to push himself to be like CR7 and Messi. A lot of people are frustrated at him for that but honestly, sometimes wanting to be better than everyone else can be incredibly unhealthy and means you can never be happy with what you have done. He reached a point of contentment that few can and still achieved an incredible amount and I can’t really knock him for that. As long as he is happy, that’s all that matters, hope he has a nice retirement.

Prime Hazard was just like figo where you would give them the ball and watch them do magic. I was very skeptical of his move to Real Madrid. He was only 28 but i felt like his body was already taking a beating being the most fouled prem player by a mile in 14-18. Honestly Sarri was on to something when he played hazard as an inside forward on his final season less fouls taken and more freedom culminating in his most successful season stats wise. Truly one of the last playmaking wingers of his generation.

I love your videos Viz and I know the content of the video praises Hazard - but to title it the "Never Ending Downfall" is so harsh especially right afte his retirement. Thank you for giving Hazard Justice. I only got to see him play once at a Charity Match in Massachusetts before the Europa League Final. My friend next to me told me to put the Camera Down and enjoy it because it'll be the last time we'd see him in a Chelsea Shirt. So I got to see some of that Magic that I would see at the crack of dawn to watch on TV. This video was hard to watch especially when you talk about his Time at Reál Madrid. Every time I look him up I see an Injury. When he was a Free Agent, my greatest dream was for him to play for my MLS Side Atlanta United just so I could see him live again. I wish him the Best at his Retirement. Hopefully he'll be enshrined on Shed Wall at Stamford Bridge like the other Chelsea Legends.

Eden Hazard was world class class and he‘s an legend. People underestimate him ,because they don‘t know anything of football. His downfall comes from many things combined. He always got fouled and he didn‘t really take care of himself and that‘s the biggest reason how he failed. Back then football players played just like him till maybe the early 30‘s

Eden hasn't signed anywhere because he decided to retire. It's a pretty smart move seen the many injuries he has had. He's only 32. He didn't want to end up with permanent pain/injuries. Since he has enough money and investments, it's great he's able to do so. Sad for people enjoying football, but a smart move in the end.

I don't see any other legacy for Hazard as being somewhat similar to Marco van Basten. A player of extreme skill and class who will simply not be the absolute monument they might have been because of an injury that effectively removed their ability to play with intensity at the highest level. There is shame in that, but the shame is a collective one. We just wanted to see more. None of that is the fault of Hazard. We toast to his name and thank him for some wonderful memories. May his non-playing days be fruitful.

It was weird, especially from the 2021/22 season watching him come in as a sub, I had gotten conditioned to him not being around most of the time that it was if a youth player (think Peter, Arribas, Antonio Blanco) coming on to the field to make their debut over and over again rather than Hazard because he looked out of place every time.
