Thanks you so much for introducing your grandma to us. You two have changed my life. I no longer buy food. I good everyday. You taught me everything I didn’t learn and make my Lucian food so much better. People never believe it me that cooks. Love y’all ❤️
I really like the way you prepare the coconut cake no egg added. I will definitely try it.it was a struggle to get it right. Thank you very much appreciated.
Terri Anne girl you took me back down memory lane. Me and me Mum used to have this with a cup of tea. We call this sweet bread in Barbados. Enjoy your Granny.
Yes, toto in Jamaica 🇯🇲😋 plus granny makes it back home the same way we would in Jamaica 🇯🇲 fire on top, fire on the bottom. Country cooking. We are definitely out of many one people. ONE BLOOD shining like the sun everywhere✨️ straight from grandmas hands🇯🇲🇯🇲🤍🤍✨️🤍🦋🌻
Yes my dear! I remember my grandmother making this. Love the memories you brought back. Definitely a nice thing to eat with morning tea 🍵 or coffee ☕️ or coco tea. Been watching I really enjoy coming back to your channel. 🌷👌🏻🌸
Can you use ground nutmeg? Also every mug is slightly different in size so are you able to provide me of mug measurements in Ounces instead? Many thanks
Hi Terri-ann When I was pregnant with my first born anything with coconut in it I had to have it lol, thanks granny for the recipe i will definitely be trying this.
It’s in the oven! But guess what I did? I wasn’t paying attention and set the over to 200 instead of 400 Fahrenheit!!! Hadnt realized it until an hr later when I went to check...lol. Hope it turns out ok😂
it’s listed now love:)... (I usually post then write up the recipe afterwards so if you don’t see recipe straight away on future videoes just give it a little time and check ;)... Thanks for your support :)
I think you baked it at 200 FAHRENHEIT but the recipe said 200 C. 200 C is 392 F. 😑That is probably why your cake was still watery. When the cake is baked at the right temperature for 1 hour, the water will evaporate and the cake will be moist. Your other mistake was adding more flour and baking powder. Too much baking powder makes foods taste bitter.
It's always interesting to hear the different names for food in the Caribbean. That right there is Toto 😋 in 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲

Can you substitute coconut milk for the water? Or can you do half water and coconut milk?
Yes to both suggestions
Wow...
I love the creole
Delicious
For those asking about the flour. Add no less than 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder to each cup of regular/NON self rising flour.
Can I use regular unbleached flour? I find that self-rising flour has a lot of sodium
Yes you can
You may need to add a bit more baking powder/soda to balance it out though
Yummyyyyyyyy
Lots of love from 🇰🇪 kenya, Nairobi.... Will try the recipe... 🙏 thanks❤..... Also asking if u can share a biryani recipe that's simple.... Be blessed
I love coconut, one question though. It’s not so East for me to find fresh coconut can I substitute the bag shredded coconut. Thanks
Yes definitely

Yes you can and make sure to add some baking powder so it isn’t doesn’t taste heavy when cooked :)
how much one medium coconut have
1 medium coconut will be brilliant for this recipe as this is what I used too :)
No eggs?
No eggs needed
Hiya Terri. Great recipe as usual! Can you please ask our Miss Granny if I can use coconut milk instead of water? Thank you and continued blessings!
marshi hylton hi love I’d suggest 1 cup coconut milk and 1 cup water as the fresh coconut already has milk :)... that’s for watching!!
Hi Terri-Ann roughly how much do your cup hold. I want to give it a try😊

Omg as I read your comment I went to check and realized I put 200 too and all this time I'm there thinking I did something wrong!! 😭😭😂😂
Coconut cake or coupay
So no riseing flour how much baking powder?
Where is the coconut milk? water? But I guess if you using fresh coconut the milk is already in there.
Yes! The fresh coconut when grated is full of milk :)
You should name the channel Grannys kitchen
Granny was featuring lol
Terry Hola, quien habla es tu mamá? Adoro su voz me recuerda mi madre. 😇
The recipe isn't listed. Can you please? I know she speaks of the ingredients but can they at list be listed?
it’s listed now love:)... (I usually post then write up the recipe afterwards so if you don’t see recipe straight away on future videoes just give it a little time and check ;)... Thanks for your support :)
No eggs no butter?
Not necessary :)
The coconut has oil so u don't need butter. You can add some butter thou but a small amount, at least that's how my mom taught me
It would be really helpful if when writing the measurements, that its also done in Grams/Ounces/Milliletres etc. Cups is very confusing
You can find the conversion for cups to grams/ ounces online.
I made this with the recipe you gave and it was to watery. I added more flour and baking powder and the cake did not taste good at all.
