Brings back memories of long ago. My mother made this for the holidays. Christmas would not have been the same. It was a delight for 50+ years. Thank you for sharing !
I'm almost 70 but I remember when I was a kid and had divinity for the first time, and probably every time after that (usually around Christmas). For me there's something nearly magical about the flavors and textures. Mmm.
Wow I have tried at least 10 times to make this and my mom tried for years to make it but my aunt would make it perfect every time thank you for ❤ sharing ❤❤❤
Love it. Now in British fudge, there is almost no corn syrup. It is so interesting how different the recipes are. We should each try our respective recipients sweetie. I had to laugh at your phone accident…… sorry😂😮😂. That could have been me. We must be related darling. Lovely vlog. Thank you for sharing. ❤❤❤
This isn't fudge. It's divinity. No idea why she is calling it fudge. Fudge is cooked to the thread stage and contains dairy and chocolate. Two entirely different candies.
This has opened up so many childhood memories of being with your family on Christmas Eve! I always loved this and those little wreaths you guys would make! Always made me so happy!
Okay, so "fudge" is a type of divinity and is not relegated to only being chocolate. I never knew that. So, with that premise, can you make any flavor fudge? I would love a strawberry fudge or maybe an orange fudge. I was especially confused because I've been to functions where someone showed up with what looked like "brownies" but they called them fudge. It was definitely a non-flower candy with the consistency of what you made, but it was always chocolate. I always thought "fudge" was another word for chocolate. You live, you learn.
No. Fudge is cooked to the thread stage and contains dairy and chocolate. Divinity is sugar cooked to the hard ball stage and combined with stiff egg whites. Two entirely different candies, and I have no idea why she is calling it fudge. She is cooking it to the wrong temp as well. Divinity is cooked to hard ball (for nougats). I collect divinity recipes and this one definitely stands out as an outlier.
Divinity is not fudge. Fudge is sugar/invert cooked to the thread stage and contains dairy and chocolate. Divinity is a nougat-like candy that is sugar/invert cooked to hard ball then combined with stiff egg whites. Two entirely different candies.
Great tutorial on making divinity! It isn’t an easy candy to make. I wouldn’t call it “fudge” as American definitions of fudge say it contains milk or cream (which divinity does not) besides sugar and butter. Thanks for the video.
You were raised incorrectly calling this candy divinity fudge. It's usually just called divinity or divinity candy. Divinity is NOT fudge. Fudge is an altogether different kind of candy The candy is either divinity or fudge not both. Sorry, it bothers me. The prep, the texture and the eating of the 2 are different. The storage is different. The pleasure of eating is different. My opinion, divinity is much easier to make. But thank you for the time it took for you to give this recipe
If you can't stir a pot for 15 to 120 min you certainly can't hand knead bread dough! Sad how weak some ladies are that are 20 yrs younger then myself. SMH!

Yes you can. Cherry chocolate fudge, or orange peel fudge are British favoutites. ❤
Oh yes, we make orange cream fudge for my nephew. He loves it. Peanut butter fudge is also a favorite.
@@thewilliamseswonderfulworld Peanut butter fudge sounds amazing.

Thank you! I don’t know why we called it fudge. I guess just a family tradition?

So true! Stirring and kneading are a great workout.
