Started menopause in 2009 and sleep has gone downhill and gotten worse - not better- over the years- have tried every single natural remedy over the years / have excellent sleep hygiene and still have sleep problems. .once again am up at 4 am ( naturally can’t get back to sleep) and will yell at anyone in my way today - I’ll break things out of frustration and exhaustion as I push myself through another day- I’ll end up feeling tremendous guilt and I’ll cry in the shower. My brilliant dr told me it can’t be hormonal since I’m past menopause and there are no fluctuations now. I wanted to order a saliva test to see what’s going on but I can’t in my state without a drs script. She wants me to use sleeping pills . I’ve said again and again that these cause me to just feel sluggish and depressed. I just joined your FB group and am hoping for some type of guidance .
I'm perimenopause I went through a period where I couldn't fall asleep, stay asleep. I would end up dreading wanting to go to bed because of the thought of not getting any sleep and I would toss and turn and my anxiety went up and out the roof. Long story short I ended up passing out and cracking my head open because I couldn't remember the last time I'd slept. Know 2 years later im back to being able to sleep but not stay asleep. I'm going to buy some Magnesium like you surgested thank you Dr Garrett
Hello Dr. Garrett, I'm just turning 58 soon, and am about two years post menopausal, and am just starting to have awful insomnia, getting 2 or 3 hrs sleep, wake up in in the middle of the night, and not being able to fall back asleep. It's affecting me in a very negative way. Would love to hear from youn, as I am afraid of cancer from supplementing with estrogen, thank you in advance~
I have a problem to staying asleep! I woke up 3am can’t go back to sleep I’m in post menopause!! I’ve tried several of supplements and nothing works ! Only sleeping pills anti anxiety pills but I’ve red they can damage the body and brain ! I need some help plesse thank you 😊
Thank you. I have bp1 and anxiety and I'm almost 53. Going thru perimenopause has been some days and nights especially hard to fall asleep. Appreciate the video.
Me too. It's like I am on a runaway roller coaster or a runaway train or something that has lost its breaks or can't use its breaks anymore. There are days when I sleep okay and get a full 8 hours or 9 hours of sleep and then there are days when I wake up at 2am or 3am and cannot get back to sleep and it's ridiculous. on the days I can't sleep, and I am up at 2an or 3an, I am having a cup of tea because I can't get back to sleep.( Maybe the tea I am having has some caffeine in in. Not sure. So I want to make a switch to a tea that doesn't have any caffeine) So I am trying to look for calming herbal teas to help induce sleep because I have lost a regular sleep cycle and I want to get back on track with my sleep. I am 47. Hope I can find something.
I cannot sleep post menopausal, no bioidentical doctors near......conventional doctor only wants to prescribe premarin.... Can u help how to balance estrogen and progesterone naturally...thanks
Mine comes and goes with the seasons. Last spring and summer it was aweful and then it went away for a while, now it's definitely back. Sleep is about every other night, sometimes two nights. I'm going to up my magnesium tony and see how that goes~ I'll let you know
@@winning3329 seems to be effected by the season, definitely worse in the spring and summer. I've been taking fish oil, magnesium glycinate , melatonin slow release and trying to eat more dried fruit to deal with bladder issues. So far these seem to be helping a lot, except for the waking up in the middle of the night, nothing really helps with that, luckily it doesn't happen a lot~
I’m in perimenopause suffering horrible from insomnia, sometimes for days and then I’ll have weird palpitations like a flip flop sensation in the chest, and the migraines are pretty bad too!!! Please tell me at some point post menopausal I will go back to being somewhat normal again 😩
I fall into a poor category that is not much understood. I am in my 30s but I have surgical menopause as my ovaries and uterus were removed. Nothing is helping me sleep. I am lucky if I sleep 2hrs before waking up. I was given birthcontrol pills for hormone replacement... things are not well.
Hi there! You need bioidentical hormones…not only for sleep but for bone snd heart health. Birth control is synthetic hormones and you don’t get the benefits of bioidenticals. If I were advising you…look into estrogen patch +oral progesterone +/- testosterone.
I fall asleep fine but wake up between 3 and 5 hours later and then wake up every hour. Some nights are worse than others. I'm 49. I also have hot flashes, during the night and day. I have a powder form of Magnesium but it's citrate. How is that different from the one you mention? The insomnia is tough. The hot flashes are only a little uncomfortable.
Hi. Im 44 with one tube and ovary. Lately, i feel im changing but cant pin point it. I get hot out of nowhere, toss and turn etc. What test do I ask for from my IM or GYN if it is menopause-So they dont think "its just in my mind"?
Hello Dr. Garett, A great clip! Regarding vitamin B6, Kava, Valerian or Adaptogenic herbs when are they being taken? Together before bed with Magnesiumglycenate Thank you!
I really need your help desperately I have to solve the situation I've been so extremely tired I'm very athletic and now I don't even feel like doing anything please help me
Doreen Melchiorre, I’d be happy to schedule a consultation to talk about what’s going on with your situation. You can begin the scheduling process at www.drannagarrett.com/lets-talk
I am on the hormone pellets so my estrogen and testosterone are fine, plus I take progesterone capsules. I fall asleep and sleep most of the night-sometimes wake up around 4 and fall back asleep. But I still feel tired like I didn’t get any sleep.

And I remember you saying that you started having hot flashes...are you able to sleep on your own or are you having to continue using cannabis?...I've been thinking about starting to take CBD oil for sleep and anxiety. What do you think? Thank you so much.
