Hi Alice! Love your videos ❤ In the comparison between the Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Sun Gel and the Make P:rem UV defense me daily sun essence, I do agree they both look extremely similar in consistency and finish. However, I found that the chemical filters used in the Isntree sun screen are older chemical filters that painfully sting my eyes. The Make P:rem sunscreen utilizes new generation chemical filters that I have no issue with. Just wanted to let everyone know if someone out there also has that same issue with Isntree’s sunscreen
I found make prem spfs several months ago bc old school chemical filters flare up my perioral derm. I’ve since purchased 3 and, so far, the cicapro is my fav bc it looks best under makeup but I also really like the hydrating uv defense me. I’m dying to try the calamine calming one. Also, for those of you ok with purchasing thru Amazon, they regularly have 1/2 off on a few of these!
I actually never used a Make Prem sunscreen but have recently ordered the new one. I don’t like mineral sunscreens because I find them greasy/thick/sticky, I prefer the light ones and essence like types so the new one looks lovely.
The mineral stick is sooooo helpful with my kids on the go. Now that I have like six different sticks I'm leaving them everywhere, and this one goes to the kids. Not because I don't love it, but because the kids hate any sense of stinging and then get resistant, so I'm extra careful to use mineral on their faces.
That’s a smart plan, the make prem stick does seem quite gentle! It’s so funny, I remember first trying a sun stick and thinking “hmm this is an odd idea.” Now I get it and love them lol!
I love this style of comparison reviews, especially those side-by-side visuals. Thank you! I've never used Make Prem sunscreens before but I'd like to try the sticks for reapplication. I've been using powders (mostly supergoop) but my dry skin does not like them.
I did not get along with the powder sunscreen I tried either (Supergoop also, some kind of glowy one?) yep, super drying! I’ve been thinking I’ll try it on my scalp, but then I always wear hats sooo 🤣
I tried Make P:rem sunscreen in 2020 and it was a nightmare. Must have been made for oily skin because it dried down so tight, I thought my face would crack. Too traumatized to ever use the brand again, but it looks like they’ve made progress. ❤
I love the sun essence, but can't believe you don't think it has a smell. I think it has a pretty strong smell. Very sweet so I don't mind it 😊 I hated the body sunscreen. So hard to rub in and leaves a white cast even though I'm pale
@@AliceintheRabbitHole it's so funny because it really has a very distinctive sweet smell. Maybe you had covid? My BF can't smell poopy diapers since he had it 🤣
I also agree the sun essence has a strong smell, though a super pleasant floral one which i happen to love. Also i find the essence is less shiny than isntree sunscreen, which i prefer.
I've tried the Face and Body (not bad for body but I mostly compare to crappy US sunscreens for body that I tolerate well) and the Daily Sun Essence. With the essence I think it's perfectly fine, but I'd probably never buy it again as there are many I prefer. I feel like it lacked some cosmetic elegance compared to those other brands just in the way it felt going on the skin. Not a bad finish and dries down reasonably well also. As far as essential oils in products.... I think some balance out scents from other ingredients. Doesn't mean they'll have a strong odor even if you can pick them out.
That’s a really good theory as it’s true that many people want fragrance-free skincare, but a hidden con is that fragrance-free can smell bad! Which people also tend to uh…not want 😆
I wish you could maybe talk about water or sweat resistance in your reviews. I know it's not a huge thing in k beauty, but the summer where I am is brutal for humidity. I hate to think I'm using a sunscreen that is breaking down the moment I go outside and start to sweat 😕
Yeah there really are so few in K-Beauty. I’m unsure why actually! Maybe it has to do with the filters they use? We do have a few options here, and my most recent fav is the Vichy capital soleil spf 60 (80m water resistant). I talked about that in my recent speed reviews 😃
I've yet to find a sunscreen that doesn't break me out. So far the can make mermaid gel(such a tiny bottle) Paula's choice tinted,skin1004, and BOJ only break me out slightly. I like the white cast because I'm so pale, but spf hates me and my face.
Zinc oxide *may* help with acne (limited research), so there actually are times I reach for it intentionally! It’s a catch-22 for my dry/acneic situation, but I can see how it could help out those with oily/acne prone skin. Do you get along with octisalate? I wonder if the butyloctyl salicylate isn’t getting along with your skin. Some purely zinc oxide sunscreens: Live tinted (this one does have a tint) and kinship (has a hefty feel and no tint but I like it as a primer)
Alice ❤ hoping you see this a year later! The body SPF- the last hybrid one… I need a body SPF ASAP and I saw it on Amazon . Do you think it is legitimate? I know the other K Beauty chemical sunscreens were removed, but this is still up and looks authentic. I don’t have time to wait for a k beauty retailer and was interested in this one! ❤
Hello there, you are like the only western creator who has used the new Make prem watery capsule sunscreen. I think you should try the Mediheal NMF water drop daily sun serum. This is also formulated by Kolmar like the Make prem one, but the tested spf value is like 80 and the UVAPF/PPD value is 31, which is super high for a Korean sunscreen. They claim that it has a moisturizing yet lightweight, invisible finish. Please test this sunscreen out, it just seems so unreal.
I have a stylevana cart started and was focusing on peptides and ginseng I think I threw inbthe Isentree but maybe I'll switch it out? They seem so very similar
For reapplying with sunsticks over makeup, do you sanitise your sunsticks? Im afraid of the contamination and them causing break outs as you are rubbing it on your skin
I do! I spray on alcohol and wipe, tbh not every time I use it but every so often. It’s possible I’m introducing alcohol into the product as a heads up, but I do suspect most of it evaporates.
Great video as always! I have to say I finally believe you about your nonsensitive nose because that #1 sunscreen, the Essence, is definitely fragranced. In fact, that's the only reason I stopped using it, because otherwise I really like it.
Haha yes I was so surprised when she said she didn't smell anything. It has such a particular and strong smell. Very sweet. I kinda liked it though. But definitely not fragrance free
Haha I’m glad you believe it now! 🤣🤣 I am surprised Ara didn’t smell it out, although she did have a cold soooo. Maybe I should have waited on asking her lol. Thanks for sharing the scent situation! 😄
I'm still mad at them for discontinuing/reformulating the Blue Ray Sun Fluid - I just finished my last bottle! 😞 I'm in the anti-butyloctyl salicylate club myself - and pretty annoyed that Good Molecules included it in their so-called "mineral sunscreen". I have a few all-mineral sunscreens on the list to try (Unsun, Sun Bum), but it really is hard to find one that blends in but isn't tinted.
I would be fine with Good Molecules formulating with it, but I did come across their posts about how mineral filters are safer than chemical. And now I’m all kinds of annoyed. Really thought they were better than that 😡 Anyway, some fully mineral options: Kinship (best as a primer) and Live Tinted (tinted, but such a lovely tint…I don’t know how they do it actually)
@@AliceintheRabbitHole Yeah, I'm avoiding buying from them right now. 🙄 I have the added bonus of very oily skin in a now-subtropical climate, and I don't wear foundation - so it needs to be fairly matte and feel like a light moisturizer. (The Pipette is a great product, but sooo greasy-looking on me and doesn't dry down.) Speshul snowflake here LOL
Hi Alice. Thank you for such a thorough video. Could you comment on stinging for eyes? I noticed that you only put one on your eyelids (mineral?). The very first video of yours that I watched was when you said the Make P:rem calamine was the only sunscreen you could use - at that time. Have you already reviewed the new formulation of that one?
Here’s my suspicion on eye stinging: I think all sunscreens sting when they get in the eyes, the catch is whether the formula runs. To the credit of zinc oxide (and it’s astringent properties), I feel it stays in place better. I’ve still managed to get it in my eyes (doin’ stuff like crying lol), and yep - it burns like all the others!
Alice can you ask MakePrem to bring back the original daily sun fluid formula? It was all mineral and so perfect for my oily skin. I haven't been able to find a true replacement for that sunscreen a year later. 😢😢 The new hybrid is just not the same in how it sits on my skin.
Yep, sadly. I really wish I could as it looks lovely! There’s a handful of US hybrids I can use as they don’t include the UVA filters that irritate me (DRMTLGY is a good example, theirs is quite nice!)
It’s hard to say tbh. I tend to suspect the answer is no, but I’m also fine with blocking MOST of the sun’s rays (as an example: when I’m just going from my car to inside a restaurant). I would absolutely not choose a sun stick for the beach though!
@@patmandolla1806 thats still not ok too not answer when people email. And they told me on 7 april that they put my orders on hold for cancelation and have not responderad since! Thats not okey!

I said it I'm embarrassed 😳 I don't use spf on my body unless I spend the whole day at the beach.
