But you can use it for a different industry/product. She wouldn't have had exclusive use of the word, it would have only applied in context of a cafe/restaurant her threatening to sue people over usages outside of that would not have ended in her favour but she was relying on them backing down rather then going to court.

I live up the road a few blocks from Cafe Hon. Or at least I used to. It closed a year ago.
Between the time she tried to trademark “Hon” and the time the restaurant closed, it was not busy. I still went there from time to time, mostly because it was cheap and not actually terrible, but it was always just one or two tables besides me (and the adjoining bar, “Hon Bar”, was always empty). Before all the trademark drama, she was extremely successful. Hon was one of the more well-known restaurants in town. She never recovered from that. My neighbors still gripe about her.
I have known several insane megalomaniacal restaurant owners in my time. Not her (we’ve met but only because she’d come out to check on the tables), but her behavior in this episode is right in keeping with their behavior in life. I can’t say if she ever changed but I’m exceedingly doubtful.

This lady reminds me of a steak house I worked at in Phoenix. There was an employee that contracted MRSA, a highly contagious staff infection/rash that can be fatal. She let him work because the guy told her his doctor said it was ok, no note, just his word. I am so glad I do not work there as I quit shortly after. OH and this lady was the sister of the owner, who had no business working in a restaurant or with people in general, in other words, if she started psychiatric treatment, she would not live long enough to see sanity. That bad.
