In all honesty Pete wasn't the most deluded owner but he is in top ten. With Sebastian Chappy and Amy having a stand off for the top spoy

@@bloodygoat6941 I don't know I think it would be an interesting fight to watch Sebastian has the youth Chappy the experience so the fight might go to one of them but don't underestimate the insanity that is Amy. Imagine all that from like a wrestling match announcer

@Film Insight I thought Pete was not just deluded..he seemed to think that it was still 1985 and that his pizzas were still the best in Denver when they clearly weren't.

Indeed. Sometimes old people set in their ways have hard heads. Doesnt make them bad people. Stubbornness isn't a crime.

Pete was actually one of the nicest owners. He didn't scream, didn't swear, nothing like that, he was just a stubborn older dude that needed a reality check. When he saw that even his wife was done, he decided to change.

Im almost positive Pete probably started cheaping out on quality ingredients and probably needed a new oven because it's hard to believe that slop he was serving was considered the best pizza around at one time.

I find it hard to believe they were ever Denver's best pizza. I remember the 1990s and I'm pretty sure we hated greasy, undercooked, pizza back then too. This just proves that he doesn't care anymore because no, serving that in the 90s would have run you out of business too.

If that massive pizza wasn't so riddled with a pool of grease, and the dough wasn't raw, I'd say that would be ideal for a party of 3 - 4 people.

Was it just that this guy was stuck in the past or was there other reasons why his food had gone down hill. I mean could raw dough ever pass for the best pizza in a city. I mean pizza places were less common in the 80s and 90s but still raw dough, was that ever seen as nice food. Surely if he had a huge run of best pizza in Denver back in the 80s and 90s it must have at some point been properly cooked at least or cooked beyond being dough. If so what caused him to lose so much mojo.

Same thing i was thinking , down here in chicago where im at tons of places have been in business sense the 90s without changing the recipe. If i was to take a wild guess pete probably started cheaping out on quality ingredients and probably needed a new oven because that pizza he served ramsey looked terrible.

I would have loved a pizza with a crust that thick as a kid in the 90s… if it wasn’t greasy, soggy, and undercooked.
Nowadays, not so much. He could cut his dough use in half and make a better pizza. And cut his costs in doing so.

Pizza honestly was garbage even in 1986.. I mean it's Denver, he wouldn't know what an authentic italian pizza pie was if it hit him in the face.. Pizza in America outside of a few spots where there were lots of Italians was dreadfully bad for most of the past 50 years.. a couple of exceptional spots in NYC, a few places in Chicago and Detroit if you like that style but if you've never been to Naples you don't know what a real authentic Pizza actually is supposed to taste like..American pizza is often just a garbage pile of inferior ingredients, cheap low quality cheese mixed with grease on dough. American culture often takes another cultures product and make it incredibly bad, American pizza made for Americans 😆
