We linked up with @ecobeast_raptor to put his 2017 Ford Ecoboost F-150 Raptor to the test with the Cobb Stage 1 - 91 octane tune. We had some fun in the snow and also got before and after dyno results to see how much power the 3.5L EcoBoost could put down. Josh gave us his unbiased review of the new power!

MAPerformance 2018 gti 93 manual transmission tune
I have down pipes, adapters, Full Race intercooler, throttle body, AFE inclosed cold air. How much horsepower would a Cobb Tune ad? Some guys are telling me they gained way more than 17 whp
Do you know when will the tune be available for the 2019 raptor?
He don’t seem that happy
Hahaha not overwhelmed for sure
I'd like to see dyno numbers with the 93 stage 1 tune. Just installed the stage 1 93 tune on my Raptor yesterday and that truck feels night and day difference than stock. I played with my tq management though, I like a touchy throttle and the power to be there now so I love that car about the Cobb tune. Also, the auto stop/start turn off feature is a life saver! My experience with the Cobb tune so far is top notch!
Is it true it adjusts the tcm automatically based on your driving?
Nice!
Are you still doing a prize giveaway for who guessed the whp after cobb tune? @MAPerformance
I ran a Cobb stage 1 93 tune for a while and was impressed. Then recently got a custom GooseTune utilizing my existing Acessport and WOW what a night and day difference compared to the OTS stage 1 93 tune. Not knocking the OTS tune at all, its still a good tune but theres nothing quite like a custom tune. My tuner said an extra 70-80hp with just his 93 octane tune so I'm guessing another 40-50hp over the OTS
I've been so curious on the goose tune, haven't made my mind up on the HP tune, Cobb tune or Goose Tune.
@@huddi4230 definitely goosetune
So he ALREADY HAD a full cat-back exhaust and only added the Cobb stg1 tune on 91 Oct AND gained ~20whp & 40+wtq?
That's very good for something so basic. Looks like he has 37's which would definitely hamper straight-line performance.
I cant get a straight answer as to whether the Cobb or ADD fmic would void the warranty, tho I'm not sure why it would if the dealer installed it...is the Shelby ic worth it or Whipple stg1 package?
Wonderful video and thank you for the tips! Any thoughts on running E85, as well as what would need to be done to have a reliable setup on flexfuel and E85? I’m really considering doing a stage 2, I’m just afraid of dealers being able to see that the stock map hasn’t been in use before coming in for service and just has been reflashed the day before . From some of the information I’ve gathered over the years with tunes and warranty claims, is that if a significant problem pertains (I.e. new engine, new trans, ect) the dealers can see when the last time the base parameters were running. So I’m sure they can put two things together and realize the car has had some sort of tune over a period of time where the ecu was not functioning at stock parameters. I know It’s a nightmare scenario but I’d rather be safe than sorry, any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you once again for your wonderful video, you have earned yourself a subscriber, keep up the good content!
Definitely something to consider, your best bet if you want to be absolutely safe is to talk to the dealer. Glad to have you Christian 💪
What wheels and tires are those?
What color is that Raptor... Lightening?
I would think it would make more power than that. I installed an accessport goose tuned, cold air, and spd turbo adapters. The truck is a lot faster than it was stock.
Your contacts?
@@esco1995 for tuning? Goose tuned is the best for the raptors
@@hotrodjcc thanks
You guys should do another video on the stage 2. I’ve got one coming. Josh knows how to get a hold of me.
These numbers are 45whp and 24ftlb short of the % gain that COBB shows and the truck was obviously not hooking up on the frozen roads with frozen tires. Having put 3000mi on my 91oct map, I have a hard time believing something isn’t wrong with Josh’s truck or the test procedure here. Might be worth verifying the results when it’s warmer.
I'm curious what these tunes do in terms of voiding warranties? Any input?? Just bought an '18 Raptor and am chomping at the bit to do some upgrades WITHOUT voiding my 125,000 mile extended warranty.
I'm in the exact same boat. I'd be a customer if there wont be any BS to deal with if I need to use the warranty.
Your best bet is to speak to your dealer about it.
Ya don't do it. Speak to dealer?? About what!? You think they give away engines. I took my 2018 raptor in because I said it felt like it was driving funny. First thing they did was plug it in to see if there was any trace of reprogramming. I called him out and he said there is no such thing as getting it off the computer even if you "uninstall" it.
bigchuch thanks. I was kind of thinking the same thing. I have found that some of the more reputable tuning suppliers are so confident in their product that they offer their own drivetrain warranties to supplement the voided manufacturer warranty.
Yeah this tune definitely is not worth voiding your warranty over.
Nice vid where Ian though? He’s funny
He's no longer with them. Source: Daelen (Works there)
I've always wondered why people like Cobb. Don't make much sense from a performance standpoint at least on there tunes
Pensé que tenía 450hp de agencia
20 whp gain ?
That's it ?
does this void the warrenty
Absolutely.
Not at all
He didn’t seem very impressed…
Why is he so nervous
Because it’s zero degrees outside.
Seems like these little motors are basically tapped out from the factory. The owner didn't seem to be able to tell any real difference.
NYCnMiami not the case at all. That’s just a really weak tune.
I agree. Slightly better but I’m guessing MAP will offer their own tune to get some good power numbers. Look at what they did with the gti tunes.
these things are hardly anywhere close to Maxed when stock... Check out 5 star tunes with the E50 and E85 tunes...700hp is common... this COBB tune is weak
This motor has a lot left in it.
Keep in mind we did the 91 tune. Josh is going to test out the 93 tune on his own soon!
17 whp? That’s it
It was only the 91 octane tune so you can gain more on 93. Even more with Stage 1+
MAPerformance I have down pipes, adapters, Full race intercooler, Full race throttle body, AFE inclosed cold air. How much WHP with the Cobb Tuner ad? This reply was duplicated in wrong spot first time. Just trying to find out what approx I can expect
Ikr,why even bother 😂
91 oct come on boys nothing less than 93......
Some states dont have it
downpipes really wake these engines up
Your dude needs to move his plate. It’s blocking the intercooler.
Lol wider stance huh?
I believe he meant that the offset on the wheels he put on the truck are different and stick out further to the edges of the fender. Essentially, making the stance wider.
this is a weak tune... .Dude, get a proper tune from 5 Star.... check them out
Pussaty pffft. Please..Cobb is top of the line.
@@5150Reaper top of the line @ what?
It certainly isn't at adding horsepower
@@5150Reaper you're a huge idiot... ua-cam.com/video/TXEWq-V1-rE/v-deo.html
You do realize this was the 91 octane tune? There is also a 93 octane tune, which will gain more power
I have had Cobb and not really impressed . Not nearly as good as 5star that I currently am very happy with!
Wow didn’t seem to impressed! Why did you post this? Definitely not going Cobb.
Ummm So why no Dyno result with the upgrade? pointless video
It's at the end of the video.
7:00
Cobb… sucks.
Blah blah blah. 👎🏿
Sup adam its Vlad
