I’ve watched many of your (Local to Dinnington) videos and love them. It amazes me how you can live in or know a place for many years and not notice or know of many of the things you show.
I'm from Dinnington but now live in Laughton. When I got married while living in Dinnington (Top Of Doe Quarry Lane) I had to have my Bands read in All Saints in Laughton which surprised me, a small part of Dinnington falls under the Laughton parish.
I heard a Rumour that the Hatfeild Arms was to become a Tesco Extra, but with just over 1200 local population I doubt it. But would be nice to have a shop in the village.

A Tesco extra? That would be good for a local shop, but I'd much rather see the pub get restored. It's a lovely old building and deserves it I think.
      Thanks for watching :D

    I really enjoyed your video.
When looking for Village Hall, if you had passed the property you thought may have been, turned up Firbeck Ave off Firbeck Lane the village hall is at the top along with the play area and football pitch (used by Laughton Boys)
    Vice-Chair: Councillor Gregory Price

Thanks for that Gregory! The sign at the bottom of Firbeck Avenue has obviously been turned around, that's what confused me!

Hello again - another lovely video, and again, nice to see it from your point of view. The Village Hall in Laughton is slightly further down the road you were on and a right turn up into a spot between the houses. The house you looked at is newly built, squeezed in between some older ones up there.
The Hatfeild Arms (deliberate spelling with "feild") comes from an old family of the area - I don't know much more about that though. I imagine the old pub will be developed, unless there are local objections.
The St Leger race was first run in the area. Looking on a map, there is an oval shape field beyond the village and up against the woods that flank the road to Langold. That is the spot where it originated.
There is of course another small church in the parish - St John's, down the hill towards Throapham. It has some very interesting features and is looked after by the Church Conservation Trust, and is still consecrated.
Back up at All Saints, there was also a castle very nearby - which would make sense, given the location and offering a great vantage point. The Church is as you say, lit up at night, and is a lovely feature of the landscape through all the seasons.

The Throapham church is actually in Dinnington so purposely didn't go to it. The parish boundary goes around the edges of the churchyard (it's weird!).
I'll be going it though for sure when Dinnington comes around!
Loving all that fantastic info, it will all be used in Part 2! Thanks 😁

@@TheVillageIdiot Ah right - I should have known that, as Dinnington IS actually Dinnington & St John's Parish (although the PC are actually a TOWN Council, they say). Let me know if you want to go actually into the Church as there is a code for the padlock.
      Still loving your work! :o)
Oh, also in Laughton on the bend where the new Scandinavian-looking buildings are now, there was always a field where a small herd of Aberdeen Angus could oversee the activities of passers-by. That WAS quite some time ago, ha ha.

@@clkay9512 I would love to go in it! That would add a heck of a lot of content to my videos. Thank you! 😁

Another thought - maybe the numbers are Ordnance Survey co-ordinates? The OS reference for Slade Hooton Hall is SK 5241 8924.

That would make sense. I never thought of that!
