Right we're on! This is the first time after hundreds, that I may disagree with you Steve. A pro spotted I had club toe vertical halfway back.....got me to turn face down towards the ground , as you show, and it led to much better striking and a rare win 2 weeks later! With me, it helped cut out the slice....but as you say if you already hit it straight there is a risk of hitting low and left with closed clubface. No 2 people, or swings!, are the same!! Still love you though Steve.....youre the man! Best out there. In fact in those conditions.....youre probably the only one out there😂😂
I’ll try, but you taught me the move to match my spine angle and that actually works for me. For one thing I feel the toe of the club better through the swing.
And I wonder why my typical miss with wedges, or a 9, or 8 iron, is more often left of the green. It happens so often even when they felt reasonably good with the strike. It’s especially maddening because the green is right there in front of me! This may finally solve my problem. Thanks, Steve! Well done. Nicely explained!
Wow,, 😮 another great video once again, even in freezing conditions. I have a GEM and it makes great sense what you say, I’ve always been taught to have the club face level with the spine angle at P2 but like you say the GEM wobbles. I’m going to give it a go 👍 Thanks for clarifying what needs to be done as an amateur 🎉🎉
I think a lot of people roll the face open on the start of the backswing so thinking of getting the face matching the spine angle can help them as they open the face less. As most people have the problem of with open face causing their slice getting the face more closed will help them.
Thanks Steve. Simply love your channel, it helps that my brother in law is also from Scotland. The only problem is I can only hit the like button once. 😢
Great vid Steve, and exactly what I am working on with my coach who is ‘old school’. My problem is a closed face and one of the hardest things to change is that. I have a Gem and always hit the ball great after swinging with it but unfortunately return to type fairly soon a day after. Would appreciate a vid on the wrist positions - relative to grip - the Gem creates so that these can be understood and rehearsed without it. Ta
Not just for that the guy dares to propose a swing against 99,9% of all PGA pros - and surprisingly- he is completely right in addition… there are swing mechanics for tour pros - and for you and me …sorrrry😂
@@Hueho1 Yeh the vast majority of people aren't capable of the positions the tour pros get into, we have the ability to if we start doing strength and flexibility work though, it's not as out of reach as it seems at the beginning
I gave you the 480th like. Liked that you pointed out JT looks for his club facing up. Seen him do this on the telly all the time so wondered why so many teaching videos go on about that spine thing? For me it seems a recent 'fad' but not a given to get results.
25 years ago it was taught toe up to toe up, now its square to spine, truth is you want it to be consistent whichever way you are in that position. Keep arms and hands stress free, your body will square it up.
Why do you terrify me ? :) , I'd be scared to have a lesson from you as you look like you would break some of my bones if you thought I wasn't listening, like a mad combination of Sam Torrance and Groundskeeper Willie :). Good tips though. * For the avoidance of doubt the first sentence is meant as humour, not as abuse. Mark , aged 61 3/4 , 9 Handicap....

Steve, this is a brilliant lesson on the extreme difference between the average golfer and the tour player! Thank you!
Very interesting & well done for braving the typical Scottish weather …!
From one Scotsman to another great lesson THANKS Thumbs up Len Mack Melb Aus

Thank you Steve, great, simple explanation of an easily misunderstood concept. Love it mate.
You’re welcome 👍
Fantastic video. You're really helping me understand this stuff. Can't wait to try this stuff out in the Spring. Thanks again! Dave
Glad it was helpful!

If club head up - right elbow is in throwing position if proper right hand grip is on handle

Is that a Hearts Football coloured Hat?
It’s close!🇱🇻
It’s hard to take a preacher message serious with a pom pom hat on.
To be fair it’s pretty cold at this time of the year 👍🥶
