The frisbee/steering wheel drill is incredible! First time I have ever seen it and I was able to instantly observe that I was steering in the wrong direction in my natural backswing. I cannot wait to put this into practice at the range
This is by far the best training video explaining the proper takeaway. Thank you for taking the time to teach us all. The turning of the wheel to the left and keeping the trail arm higher than the lead arm resonated most with me.
If you don’t get the takeaway correct the rest of the swing is compensations. Dude is 1000% correct. If you take the club to the inside, you have to feel the opposite going back. Club outside the hands. I’ve been using the steering wheel analogy which felt completely bizarre for weeks, but I stuck with it and my game has dramatically changed. Your comment about keeping the right arm(trailing arm) above the lead arm on the backswing it perfect. Super simple swing cue that I can check each time I practice in front of the mirror. It works.

What a fantastic video - it has what many other takeaway videos don't, which is common sense FEELS, things that don't require a lot of thoughts to accomplish while swinging. The "push the lead hand toward the right foot/water line" feel is the best and easiest to get going in a live swing.
Sorted my takeaway in one drill the left hand pushed to right foot set the club along with the right hand pulling the grip up towards the sky great coaching
As always, enjoyable and informative video. The inside takeaway (rolling the forearms/fanning the club open) has been my problem for a long time. Will continue to work on the drills you mention. Keep up the great work!
Keeping my right forearm above my left through P2. Thinking about the RT forearm was the key for me. I had instructors that thought me to keep my right slightly bent and below the left at the address(I overdid it). I didn't release that it was also causing me to immediately bring the club inside too early.
Awesome video. I've always felt uncomfortable on the take away. Had no clue exactly what a good take away was supposed to feel like. I know all the swing thoughts like one piece takeaway but still felt clueless. This really helped instantly!

Thanks for the "Feel" thought of the forearm above the other on takeaway. Had a case of the shanks and I think it was related to my takeaway. Will see at the range soon.
Excellent tips Giles on how to fix the takeaway! One thing I try not to do is roll the forearms on the takeaway. I have been using the left hand pushing down on the butt end of the club for a while now and I really like this move. I will now implement your suggestion of extending the right hand which definitely puts one into a straight left wrist and bent back right hand position which I have been attaining with my movement. Your "stop, check, and go" drill is great! Also, I will be definitely using your "extended" alignment stick drill to verify club position. The index finger on the side of the shaft is very unique and one I will be trying, especially with driver, since I sometime am too shallow with my backswing! I'm sorry for this very lengthy text Giles, but I just wanted you to know how valuable your tips are. Good Job!!

Simply quite outstanding. Giles, Is it possible to conclude iron swing moves by just looking at driver swing? In one case if student have his best driver swing and now have iron swings can't have driver swings hypothetically? Can't we conclude here?
@@Gilesgillgolf like as we all see flaws on the basis of comparison with good model. So if student has iron swing currently but in his best, he has driver swing so if we compare iron less side bend with driver more r side bend then can't conclude right or wrong so we need to compare with good iron swing. So what if have only best driver swing can't we conclude r side bend move for iron in mind? Then compare with current iron swing.
@@nomancricket why would it be your best driver swing vs your poor iron swing? Wouldn’t it just be your standard swings for both looking at your tendencies?
@@Gilesgillgolf In case currently don't have standard swing for one? Actually, in other sport like cricket batting if I have lower pitch footage vs best higher pitch footage? Coz not every ball pitched at exact same location.
Like this, slightly different but I'm especially keen to try the alignment stick routine. I have tried similar to make sure the stick stays on the front side, but not where you keep it in contact like you suggest, so I'm keen to try it.
Does that work for the driver seems steep.. every one does the take away could you give details from half way to top is it just a turn or a folding of rt elbow to top of swing. Thx great video..
I think if you use a "saucer" instead of a plate....the forearms would look more like a golf swing because... what throws people off is the width of the plate doesn't match up to how the arms should look "symmetrically" in a normal takeaway
i think i am breaking my wrist way too late ... going to test it out at the range next time .... i really hope that is the issue, my golf shots are about as consistent as a woman's mood

I think I do an inside takeaway, but it's not because that I roll my forearm, I get the lead arm too much across the chest.
Is that also a cause for taking it inside too much?
I’d say 95% of the time it’s due to the forearms and get the lead arm across the chest is classed as armsy and the fix is the same
Simply quite outstanding.
Giles, Is it possible to conclude iron swing moves by just looking at driver swing?
In one case if student have his best driver swing and now have iron swings can't have driver swings hypothetically?
Can't we conclude here?
Thank you! I’m a little confused what you mean
In other words, Can't we conclude what need to work on by comparing best driver swing vs poor iron swing?
@@nomancricket why would it be your best driver swing vs your poor iron swing? Wouldn’t it just be your standard swings for both looking at your tendencies?
@@Gilesgillgolf In case currently don't have standard swing for one? Actually, in other sport like cricket batting if I have lower pitch footage vs best higher pitch footage? Coz not every ball pitched at exact same location.
I use a magnetic stick on the club face to keep the stick pointing to the ground and not up in the sky.
Great way of using visual feedback to help
I always thought that when the shaft is parallel to the ground , you also want the shaft parallel to the invisible target line.
No not necessarily. Actually better to have it slightly above the hands
Like this, slightly different but I'm especially keen to try the alignment stick routine. I have tried similar to make sure the stick stays on the front side, but not where you keep it in contact like you suggest, so I'm keen to try it.
No golf tips help - I can put the club in all these places and I can’t bro the ball
Does that work for the driver seems steep.. every one does the take away could you give details from half way to top is it just a turn or a folding of rt elbow to top of swing. Thx great video..
It’s the same for driver but due to the long shaft the swing plane is naturally flatter
When I push down on butt of club with lead hand it puts my lead wrist into extension and opens the face…..what am I doing wrong
You’re not using your trail wrist correctly
I think if you use a "saucer" instead of a plate....the forearms would look more like a golf swing because... what throws people off is the width of the plate doesn't match up to how the arms should look "symmetrically" in a normal takeaway
It’s just an analogy
i think i am breaking my wrist way too late ... going to test it out at the range next time .... i really hope that is the issue, my golf shots are about as consistent as a woman's mood
Hope this helps! Let me know what happens!
OMG..😮.. 🏆
Hope this helps
This add takes more than 40 minutes the cost $49 American
I have no control over the adds
@@Gilesgillgolf no worries i k like your vid’s I forgot that the adds would likely change the Hank Haney anti slice method is a long one I was trying to let people know up front 😀😀
Yeah I get lost in turning my body and club to the inside from the get go and I am rewarded with a beautiful duck hook into the woods.
