Thank You so much! I changed WiFi names over the weekend and just noticed today that my Ring was offline. Your easy steps walked me through removing the cover. Someone else had installed the Ring for me so I had no idea how to get started to remove the cover. This video was a lifesaver for me!
So many people complaining about having to unscrew 2 little screws to get to the button on back of it. Inconvenient? Sure, but get over it. Just reconnected both mine in under 10 mins. It's not rocket science people....great video btw!
You’d think it would be easy but: -I didn’t have the star shaped screwdriver And once I got it, the screw was stripped to hell anyway. So, not always so easy. I’m this close to using a hammer on it and buying another brand door bell
An important thing to note - when I went to do this, I didn't see the option to Reconnect to WiFi and could find no answers. This is because I was not the primary account owner. When I used my parents account (the primary account the doorbell was set up with), the option appeared. I hope that helps anyone who may have had a similar issue.
While my older Gen1 doorbell looks identical, I have T6 screws (yep, EXTRA small), and no QR code. Aiming the camera at the back recognized the MAC Address barcode, and the remaining steps were the same.
My phone does not have the change wifi option and I am the primary account. I’m so frustrated with this stupid $200 doorbell!! We upgraded out internet speed and it’s literally worse than it was before. Now it keeps going offline. The battery is fine and internet speed tests are fine. I have no why it’s doing this. I’ve spent 4 days searching for answers.
Do I have to go to “setup device” tab or “devices “ tab For mine the camera is offline, we recently changed our internet and I need to know if go to setup device or go to my “devices” tab
Do you have any suggestions for what to do if one of my screws is stuck on the ring device, because I have been unable to remove it from the wall so that I can reset with the required PIN number? Thanks for your help!!
The fact that you have to completely reset this stupid thing just to update the Wi-Fi password is completely asinine. Not to mention the location of the Wi-Fi password reset.
So if I change my isp I have to do this? I have over 40 devices of which around 20 are ring. I also have ring floodlights too which are difficult to get to as I’m disabled and presume the same has to de done with that. If so it’s ridiculous.
Mine always goes to the left error saying it had a problem connecting to the network. I've reset the modem and router, removed the device and even factory reset it. Nothing has helped. Now I can't even add it back
Are you connecting the doorbell to a 5ghz or 2.4ghz router? I’m sure you have double checked the password. Is there an update for the Ring app? What is the Noel of your router? Also, have you done a speedtest at your doorbell. Did you get a new router or did you change your password?
sellgooddeals DIY I’ve tried on 5 and 2.4, with and without password protection. Also tried the apple router that’s a few hundred yards away at my house. I’m trying to connect right by the arris router with 500 mbps. I have 3 trucks show up every day and I can’t leave my dock gate open for several hours a day.
Does this work for newer models like model 3? And does doing this mean videos get stored on my computer so no need for subscription? I'll definitely subscribe if it does! Thanks.
If you have the exact same SSID network (case sensitive) and password it should connect. If your SSID or your password is different you will have to setup the Ring per the video. If your router has both 5GHZ and 2.4GHZ make sure you are using the 2.4GHZ band.
I bought a new router and set it up with a new password. The ring app did not offer me an option to "change wifi network" when I followed the directions in the video. After searching around on UA-cam I finally found out how to FACTORY RESET my ring doorbell by pressing on the orange button on back (Gen 1 doorbell) for around 15 seconds until it started to spin. When it started sprinning white I was able to follow the prompts on the app, select my wifi name and enter my new password and got my doorbell up and running. Why oh why do they not tell you to do this???? Once I did the factory reset it was super easy, just like setting up a new doorbell. I found the instructions for factory reset on UA-cam by looking for what you would do if you move your doorbell to a new location or what to do if you buy a house with a ring doorbell so you can hook it up to your wifi. OMG can they make these things any more difficult? Also to note, if you have a Schlage wifi deadbolt I figured out I had to do the same thing to get it on my wifi network.
I see that my Ring is an open wifi on my computer. Is that safe safe? How do I lock it? I cannot find this answer. My router is locked, but not the Ring itself.
Hey buddy, my ring wifi connection was hardwired, I have sinced changed my wifi company and router. I can't follow these steps bcs once I am on device health it doesn't say change wifi, it just says hardwired. Anything I can do? Thank you.
My app does not give me the option to change wifi password. I believe my electrician that installed it for me may have used his phone to get it going. What do I do now?
Mine still literally doesn’t work it says set up failed check your wifi password Ive already double checked the password everything is fine I don’t get what’s wrong with mine
I did not get my doorbell’s BP, temp or lab work in “device health”! But please don’t move or rename the location or it will take me another 2 days to find it!
Put it what password? I tried my T Mobile password that not the right one. Then tried the Wifi key thats at the bottom of the motem that worked connecting my phone & Tablet to Wifi. Im complemetely stuck now
I've followed the steps to where you select the ring Wi-Fi network but there's option saying join, just connects and nothing happens from there. Any ideas? If I have to remove device and set up again, will that affect the subscription?
Did you replace your router? If so, what are you using? The Ring doorbell will only work with a 2.4 ghz band. If you are using a router that combines both 5 ghz and 2.4 ghz bands it won’t work. The only way I know to get around that is using a access point. I have this same problem I have Nest Mesh WiFi and use an Apple express to connect the doorbell to WiFi.
Sorry, power down your router/gateway once it connects online start the setup over again. Which ring did you buy? The original ring doorbell isn’t compatible with 5ghz only 2.4ghz.
Tries resetting my gen 2. It won’t ask me for wifi password. Then proceeds through the set up only to say it can’t connect to wifi. As for the ring help line. As much use as tits on a bull !
Absolutely shocking, take the doorbell apart just to connect to WiFi. Hence why I scrapped ring and switched to Eufy.... No subscription fee and 2k resolution!
I'm done with this and shot one day to hell and ended up with nothing. It doesn't give the option to change the new wi-fi provider. It just says click to connect. It always takes a time then says it couldn't connect. ONE time I hit the jack pot. It asked if I wanted to change w-fi. It gave a reminder to have your new password with you then click next which I did. After clicking next it then used a network I've never heard of and NEVER gave me that change to upgrade the password on my new router. I've shopped online today and found out I could do much better anyway and at a lower cost especially the annual fee. Just in time since Next month I was up for renewal but no more
Why do I have to take the thing apart just to reconnect it to the WiFi network?! This is ridiculous.
Yep, it should have been done in software.
This is such bullcrap
Spot on ridiculous! I’m calling Ring tomorrow and give them a piece of Your mind! And the rest of the 44 million of us!!!
Agreed!!! Oh my gosh, I guess it’ll get done later. I start blaming AT&T, because they changed my WiFi and I was without it for 4 days🙄🙄
This is ridiculous that this can't be done in the App

Huge help. Thank you. I was really wondering why I was missing options
THANK YOU so much!!! My Ring was charged but somehow fell off the network - this helped immensely!!!!

When I press the orange button, it won’t show the spinning light around the button. Then it says unable to join network.
It’s full battery

Try holding button for 30secs to factory reset. Delete device from the app and re-add.

Neither does mine.

There is no orange button on mine.
there is no "change wifi network", the online help says the same thing. why don't these companies update their own help pages!
Same issue here… were you able to figure it out?

After starting to type wifi password in the installation process it says internet unavailable with ring. Frustrating
Bummer! Are you connecting to a 2.4ghz network? What router are you using?
@@sellgooddeals-DIY yes 2.4. Its a comcast router
Power down your router wait a 1 min. power it back up. Then try to change your WIFI network again.
Thanks Dude! I’m back in action!
Good to hear
I got a new modem and router and it can't connect to Ring Network says No Internet even for the Chime Pro.
Try restarting your router/modem. I assume your phone is connected to the to the router? Are you connecting to a 2.4GHZ band?

I see that my Ring is an open wifi on my computer. Is that safe safe? How do I lock it? I cannot find this answer. My router is locked, but not the Ring itself.
What happen if it doesnt show the wifi account you want the ring to connect with?
Mine doesn’t show it either. It won’t let me type in our actual network.
If I have two doorbells do I need to do this with both or just one
Unfortunately, you will have to do this on both doorbells.
Mine doesn’t offer “change Wi-Fi network.”
It says “test your Wi-Fi” and takes me to a web page.
