    ABOUT…
I am Rebecca and I am one heck of a passionate vocal coach/singer/songwriter/impressionist/health/fitness/self- improvement/anything that makes me smile!! I love anything vocal/singing related and geek out on it every day. I want to motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams…corny? Well maybe but it's true. So what's motivating me?? I had a huge tumour removed summer 2017 and my ovaries and fallopian tubes. The tumour was the size of a 20 week baby!! However, despite not being able to walk for a couple of weeks, and feeling generally awful…. It has made me create and do what I love! It wasn't an easy time but I won't let fear dictate my life. I didn't think 'why me', there are plenty of horrific issues people have to deal with…it's not always smooth sailing. It's true when you hear, 'Life is short', the crazy thing is, I am glad it happened…I appreciate life even more and practice gratitude everyday…It's so easy to get caught up with the little things…and I do sometimes, but look at the bigger picture, will it matter in a year or two…?
Also thank you for all your support. It means a lot.

    Have a great day!!

Sad news, but good for Marco. I think 2020 quite clearly taught us that we have to follow our own roads and do what´s best for us because the world can be upside-down in a split-second. He´s done it with his music and the band and now he is adapting to a completely different situation. All the best to him.

It was sad when Jukka stepped back also. But we got Kai who's also an amazing drummer. Nobody is going to be able to match Floors vocals like he can. Hopefully it won't be a permanent thing and Marco can get back to what he needs in his life. I wish him nothing but the best in whatever he does, if anyone deserves a break it's him.

I'm sorry to hear that. I was close to burn out in 2016 and had physical problems. I quit my job, bought a motorcycle and went on a trip alone through norway, sweden and finland. I've never been so mentally free as on this trip.

I am not giving up, permanently, but for now, I think health and sanity is more important then money or fame. And I do not see the situation where we are in quickly changing. It will take time, and the music industry needs healing. We will lose many more like this, maybe not that famous or that good, but a lot af artists will retire bc of Covid. At the end of the day, Marko is entitled to do what he needs to do to keep healthy. Fans are NOT entitled to explanations. We buy the music, not shares in the band or members thereof. So it is nice to be given some sort of idea what is happening and why, but folks need to send their love and respect and then back away. If he can return to music, wonderful. I'm in the queue for it. But if he can't - no-one can take away what he's achieved or the marvellous sound he's left for us to enjoy.

Earlier, with Tarja, I liked them, lost them from sight, when Anette came and knew nothing of Floor, until aproximately 12 months ago.

I was checking my phone in bed, when the news popped up in my UA-cam feed. After reading and digesting his statement, I spoke to a US-based friend via WhatsApp (who was thankfully awake at what was an atrociously early hour for her). I completely endorse what he said about the way the music industry is. It is how it is because the money-men ALLOWED it to be. It DOESN'T have to be like that.
As a fan, I'm sad for purely selfish reasons. Certain songs won't sound the same without him. But they didn't sound the same when Tarja or Anette sang them. For me, Marko and Floor (and now Troy, since he was brought forward) are the perfect combination, vocally. Finding a new bassist is easy - but one who can sing (especially to Marko's standard) is not.
But Marko has left the door open. I hope nobody tries to shut it. That would be a disaster.

Marko will be missed big-style, but at the end of the day, he's only got one life and he has to do what feels right for him. It's a pretty serious indictment of the music business that it consistently drives principled people out of it. I only learned of Nightwish in the past year, led there following reaction videos. I grew in my appreciation for both the entire group and the individual artists. Marko comes across as a brutally honest person, capable of deep emotion and expression. Tuomas and Floor also have those attributes.
2020 has been a year of Reset for each of us as global residents. The year ended with some great videos of Marko and Floor sharing Christmas on the stage before others. As they ended one of their performances together, the Ava Maria I think, Marco placed his head on Floor's shoulder. They have become family. This is one of my wonderful moments of Marco.
The other moment is at the end of the concert at Tampere in Finland. As the group goes down to the end of the walkway that juts into the audience, Marco is shown flashing one of the greatest smiles I have ever seen on anyone. Nightwish had just completed a stellar rendition of The Greatest Show on Earth in front of adoring fellow countrymen.
Certainly Marco had realized the impact of his talent, his journey to recover his voice from the botched surgery to his vocal chords and the pinnacle of success that Nightwish had reached with Tuomas, Floor, Emppu, Kai and Troy. Tarja, Anette and Jukka also played major roles in that journey.
Tuomas will continue to be discovered as the "Metal Mozart" that he is, and I pray that the compositional expression of music continues to pour out of his complex heart.
Marco clearly tells us to allow him to continue his journey in privacy. Nightwish concurs in their statement.
We witnessed and shared a time in music that will never be repeated. Certainly it can be exceeded, but not like what Nightwish delivered. Wishing each of them my best.

Most of my favorite Nightwish songs have a heavy participation from him. That 'We were here' will never be the same. I'm shocked, I didn't know that. He's awesome. But what I get is that the music industry is not only just the shimmery lifestyle, I think it's exhausting for artists, too. With so much actual pressure on them. There is a moment in life where even (or especially) artists have to break down their lives, sort out toxic stuff, getting back to the roots and take care of themselves. And that's the most important thing. Ya'll have to take care of yourself! ❤️

This is horrible news for Nightwish and metal fans.
Marko may not be an original member, but he was definitely one of the reasons many people became fan.
He will be missed not only for his incredible voice and playing but also for his charisma and personality, specially on stage.
As a chronic depressive myself, I find it excellent that he decided to look after himself after this bizarre year we all have been through, and I think Alexi Laiho's passing influenced his decision, since they had played together in Sinergy and he was a major reference in Finland's metal scene.
Just hope he gets better and find a way to keep doing what he does best, make excellent music, and finds joy again to rock stages worldwide again

The question is, how much time do the people around you spend promoting your band, and is it worth it? A number of musicians are starting to say it isn't, and self-publishing is probably easier than it's ever been. The counter-argument is that musicians are generally not so good at promoting themselves. It will always be about money, though - who invests it and who reaps the rewards.

My darling Rebecca....where do I start, this is gonna be a long post....
I've been a metal fan since 1987.....and liked many bands over the years. I met my ex in 2004, she liked Nightwish....but I found Tarja far too operatic for my taste at the time.
It's only since I've been following you, that I finally became interested in the band.....1, because of how amazing Floor is, and 2, because of how their songs affect you emotionally.......so thank you Rebecky for introducing them to me xx
The music industry can be brutal.....look at all the one hit wonders there are.....a singer or band can just be used to make the rich, richer......look at Britney Spears ??.
The fact here is, the guys in Nightwish play their bloody arses off.....playing real instruments at speed is mentally and physically draining.....we as fans don't always appreciate what bands do for us......sometimes we expect too much.
There comes a time in your life when you look around, and realise we are mortal.....no one knows if we will wake again to see another tomorrow. We've all had a lot of time to reflect on life over the past year.....Marco has probably got to the point where fatigue and burnout have caught up with him, he is mentally tired and needs to find himself.....
Within Temptation came close to splitting up a few years back, because Sharon Den Adel also suffered burnout and other private issues.
No person is invincible, we cannot go on doing certain things for all our lives.....I hit 50 next Monday, I was told I'd be dead by the time I was 36.......but I'm still here just !.
Suffering mental health issues is no longer a taboo subject......some still laugh about others, but some are more accepting and want to help.
I'm still trying to find a job, but feel like I'm no longer wanted, and throw on the scrapheap.....some days I feel worthless, want to break down and no longer want to be here.
    .....but I'm not giving up.
I reach out to you Becky, because I know you have off days too......
All the best Marco, in whatever you do next....find yourself.....never say never to going back to Nightwish.
As for you Becks....love you xx

For the longest time I've wanted to go to a Nightwish concert. Although I do listen to metal pretty much all the time, the truth is I've never been to any metal concert before (blame time, location, work or whatever), and even if Nightwish isn't necessarily my favorite band, I do consider it to be one of the best out there, and with Floor being my favorite singer and Marko being pretty high up there on that list not only for what he does in this band but for his many other projects and collaborations, I was really looking forward, and hoping to some day, soon, to have the oportunity to go and finally see them live, maybe even get a chance to greet and meet them. I have even translated videos of their songs and concerts just to be able to show my wife and friends some of their stuff, because they are so relatable even to those who might not be into metal, so that I can share with them a bit of what I like to listen. After learning about this news...it has now become one of my biggest disappointments that I most likely won't be able to see them all together live if I ever do.

Hi Rebecca, i´m so sad and worried now. Sad about Marcos situation and worried about Nightwish´s future. I mean, how in the earth are NW supposed to find a basist like Marco? A high level basist and singer in one person? I am so worried that NW is going down after the Human|Nature-tour.
I found out about NW about 6 months ago(when I had corona)...For me it´s a really sad day to day.

Hi, I know where you're coming from but I don't think there's a need to worry this much when it comes to Nightwish as a band. :) They've been through quite some lineup changes before, some of which were considered "the worst that could happen" and which have caused plenty of doubts on the band's survival back then (let alone when Tarja left). But they always managed to get through it and after all became more and more amazing every time.
Of course it will be hard as heck to replace Marko with someone NEARLY as amazing in BOTH singing and bass playing, but I'm pretty sure they'll know what they're doing and be able to stand through it this time as well.
(They're the Phoenix of metal when it comes to impactful lineup changes, after all.)

I am staggered. I just found NW this year, and Marko has had a big part of fending off my own depression. But if he feels the need to step back and refocus on other things, we have to wish him the best. It SUCKS that he won't be part of the new tours, because I was so looking forward to all of them strutting out to dominate the world. We have to let him get on with it.
I am just gutted for the rest of the band. They all love each other, and none of them would want him to continue , feeling the way he does. There will be a HUGE hole in their performances without him, but I hope that they will stay in touch with each other, for the sake of their friendships.
    I am mogadored. Utterly floundered.
