ABOUT…
I am Rebecca and I am one heck of a passionate vocal coach/singer/songwriter/impressionist/health/fitness/self- improvement/anything that makes me smile!! I love anything vocal/singing related and geek out on it every day. I want to motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams…corny? Well maybe but it’s true. So what’s motivating me?? I had a huge tumour removed summer 2017 and my ovaries and fallopian tubes. The tumour was the size of a 20 week baby!! However, despite not being able to walk for a couple of weeks, and feeling generally awful…. It has made me create and do what I love! It wasn’t an easy time but I won’t let fear dictate my life. I didn’t think ‘why me’, there are plenty of horrific issues people have to deal with…it’s not always smooth sailing. It’s true when you hear, ‘Life is short’, the crazy thing is, I am glad it happened…I appreciate life even more and practice gratitude everyday…It’s so easy to get caught up with the little things…and I do sometimes, but look at the bigger picture, will it matter in a year or two…?

Unplugged, live, no auto tune, simple piano, chewing gum, full of emotions, kickass performance! His vocal agility is wild! Miljenko Matijevic is so underrated it makes me sick to my stomach really
Those were the days...the real talents....
Steelheart was late to the party and hair metal became so pop diluted by then that songs such as this one are so god damn cringy that it's a good thing it's dead and gone. Miljenko was a very good singer but the songs he sang are a prime example of why grunge killed the genre.
O Libertário it’s a shame because there were really good hair metal bands that had really good musicians but it was wrong place at the wrong time

That man was absolutely incredible.
The singer is Miljenko Matijevic, he is Croatian by birth. His (and Steelheart's) story is truly tragic: as if it wasn't bad enough that they started their pop metal careers right before Nirvana came along and basically killed the genre, Matijevic was nearly _literally_ killed by a 1,000 pound lighting truss which fell on him during a show. It took years of rehabilitation, but he did eventually return to the stage and re-formed the band. If you've ever seen the Mark Wahlberg film "Rock Star", it was Steelheart (and Matijevic) who performed the movie band's signature song, "We All Die Young"...which is a phenomenal song, as well. Truly an inspirational person in every sense of the word.
Indeed! You pointed the question out too well and it does is a tragedy as this band should probably had become a great band or something if they had popped up on the right time. I'm a great fan of this genre so I'm kinda suspicious to tell but this is top 3 by far on my opinion.
It's because of that song I even researched Miljenko Matijevic. He is PHENOMENAL!!

This singer, Miljenko Matijević, did all the vocals for the movie "Rockstar" with Mark Walberg... One of the best male rock vocalists of all time in my humble opinion...

Along with my friend Myles Kennedy - he was 'Thor, god of thunder' in the movie and takes over for Mark when he goes off stage to 'take a piss'. Myles' vocals are real and melodic.

No matter how many times I've heard Steelheart it's still mindblowing how good that singer is.
To this day, he still chews gum while he sings.
I'm sure helps with his muscle control for his jaw to keep his vocals strong.
Maybe he finds it helps keep his vocal cords lubricated? Singing that high and harshly.....it's astonishing he could do it without blowing out his voice. Never heard anyone like him in rock. Rob Halford came close, but for him it was more screams than actual full notes with vibrato.

Seriously. He is absolutely one of the greatest rock vocalists of the past 30 years. Check out Him singing We Die Young (Live in Milan) , that is what He sounds like now. Crazy good.
Original songs, great vocal skills, hitting notes without any technical help... and you saw her genuine reaction when he hits those notes... This is why 80s Rock/Metal singers where (and still are) worshipped... and why todays "artists" are forgotten in a week.

It's amazing Milijenko is still alive, let alone is able to sing after he was nearly killed in 1992 when a 1,000 lb. lighting truss fell on his head on stage. The band basically broke up the next day.
He can still hit the notes, but can't sustain them anywhere near like he used to.

There is a video of the incident here on UA-cam. You can see him fall off the truss and then the truss falls on him, but it's kinda blurry and you really don't see him after he falls.
He came back and did the singing for the Marky Mark movie ROCK STAR.

Miljenko is arguably one of the greatest male vocalists of all time! So many amazing singers out there but few could even attempt what he does so flawlessly!!
Steelheart has been one of my favorite bands since I was a kid. My dad was a massive 80s music fan and passed that down to me , he introduced me to steelheart and told me how they never got the recognition they deserved. I’m glad to see more people finding them
If you didn't know, he was the primary voice behind Mark Walhbergs role in Rock Star along with Jeff Scott Soto
Jeff Scott Soto did the voice for the guy Marky Mark replaced in the band. Miljenko did Marks voice. and Myles Kennedy did his own voice at the end of the movie when Mark invites him on stage to take his place.

One of the most amazing voices I've ever heard
Milo suffered a head injury when when something like lighting or electronics or whatever fell and hit him in the head. He suffered quite extensive injuries.. broken jaw.. partially crushed skull from what I recall.. and he also suffered as what was later diagnosed as a brain injury from it. It effected everything and eventually led to StealHearts break up.
However he took some time to heal and recover and is now in his 50's and still rocking it and putting new stuff out. He may not be able to hit the high notes as he once did with such beauty, but he still hits pretty high. He has been one of the all time ballad rockers out there who can actually hit notes and carry a tune.

Before the accident he was friends with my dad, like really close friends, but after his head injury they slowly cut contact. At the time he only remembered people who were around him daily, I think (something like that I don't know exactly), so he kinda forgot my dad. He's still upset about it so many years later

Putting it lightly, this guy wrote the book on singing then tore it up just to rewrite it again...and then *&^% on it.... just so he could write it again. Mastery. THIS is mastery, take it in.

Steelheart broke out briefly just when high-pitched hair metal had run its course in the USA and everyone was starting to sing lower. It was great to hear that telltale tone in 'Rock Star' years later. I didn't need to look at the credits to know who was singing. Great video.
sure hair metal was on the low when they broke up, but the reason was the singer getting hurt during a show and being in recovery for more than 3years. So they pretty much disbanded. When he reformed Steelheart many years later, the music scene was completely different.

Mili is still touring today. Hrs huge in Korea and has won awards in Korea. He's my all time favs singer..he was noted to be the best vocalist of all time..

Since I was a teenager all through the 80s I believe I can honestly say that Miljenko had the best voice of any male lead singer solo or 8n a band, he's only second to Steve Perry period!! 80s rock has delivered once again..

Obviously his manager didn’t see to it that he got the recognition he deserved. This is the only song I ever heard on the radio by Steelheart. With a voice like that, anything he sang should have been played. He could sing the telephone book and I’d listen. 😂❤
You should look for Mike's story. He almost got killed by a stage rack of lights during a concert. Sad story, he lost memory and was in a coma for some time. Steelheart was a superband and Mike was out of this world.

He's a great singer! When I was a teenager our band used to rehearse at the same studio they did in Norwalk, CT. After we rehearsed we would go into their room and watched them to play...seeing them do this in person in a small rehearsal studio was great! They used to do covers from Dokken and other 80's Heavy Metal bands...the whole band was really talented!

He's pretty amazing. He got his head crushed in a rigging crash in the early 90's. Fortunately he is now back out on the road. He also provided the vocals for Mark Wahlberg in the movie "Rock Star".

It's no secret that music gets less dynamic every decade. Even the texture of the music itself is more simplistic. The poetry in the lyrics is all but gone, with many "top 40" hits abandoning chorus and verse, consisting of a repeated hook instead. I pine for the 70's, 80's and 90's.
If you don't think there's good music today that just means you're not looking for it.

@@andyb1653 There's more good music now than ever before. The issue is it's just impossible to find. There are thousands and thousands of groups that release projects on Spotify or Bandcamp or Soundcloud that don't get more than a few hundred listeners because streaming is such a hard environment to market through.
Plus, there were tons and tons of awful, repetitive, uninteresting songs in the 60s-90s that were extremely popular and all over the radio in their time. We just don't remember the terrible songs as often as we remember the greats.

He was one of the best rock/metal vocalist...he can't reach this high pitch anymore today, due to his age and voice change....but still....this song is one of steelheart's best and famous songs till today that many still listen to including me🤘😝🤘

The singers name is Miljenko (Mike) Matijević. I went to Highschool with this dude. He was in a band called "Red Alert" back then.
There are good singers, very good singers and phenomenal singers and there's this small category of singers "Elites" this guy is in that small very group...💯🙌🏻
I think my favourite one of Steelheart would be Sheila, also the unplugged version (it was the same show as this one). You should defenitely check it out!

It was actually a Steelheart song from the late 80s. He returned to do the vocals after all those years and nailed it.
He was the voice for Mark Wahlberg. Jeff Scott Soto was the voice for the original Steel Dragon singer Bobby Beers and Myles Kennedy did Thor, if i remember correctly.

@@stevenverner6546 The movie Rock Star was based on Ripper when he replaced original lead singer Rob Halford of Judas Priest. This movie was about that change. They even included the fact that the original lead singer in Steel Dragon was gay just like Rob Halford is in real life.
R20set that sounds about right although I think they took a bit of license with their matching of voices to singers :) and Myles Kennedy didn’t only voice Thor he played him as well!

I got introduced to this band by an ex of mine in high school and was mindblown back then. That reaction still exists almost 30 years later, especially after hearing his song My Love Is Gone, which was done 5 years ago. Highly recommend checking it out, Rebecca. God bless you, pretty lady.

Greetings, I really like watching these type of videos of vocal coaches reacting to the band Steelheart. They always leave an impression! I generally do not like or subscribe because they usually do not have much to say other than he's good. You, however, had some great comments, constructive criticisms without trashing and I liked your saucy demeanor! I may have to subscribe and watch more videos you've made by other artists! But... Before I go I would like to suggest, if you haven't already, listen to Steelheart "I'll Never Let You Go". you will be in for a treat!
I always love your vids. It’s a combination of reaction, coaching and humor. And you also let the vocal parts run before you jump in to speak. Love it. Btw, he was on the Korean version of Mask of Singer a few years back, singing in Korean.
