- How much protection do you really get from natural immunity to Covid? The medical journal Lancet recently published a systematic review and meta-analysis on natural immunity after three years. They reviewed 65 studies from 13 countries. I've made many videos about natural immunity protection and in this video I review the Lancet article.

Dr. Keith Moran MD, RCPSC, DABIM, RCS, NBE Biography:
I am a consultant in Internal Medicine with special medical interests in gastroenterology, cardiology, and echocardiography. I am a a full-time practising physician in these areas. I was an undergraduate at the University of Toronto, Trinity College where I received a number of scholarships including one for top student at Trinity College. I attended medical school at the University of Toronto graduating with a gold medal. My internship was completed at McMaster University in Hamilton followed by a residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Western Ontario in London. I then completed a fellowship in General Internal Medicine at the University of Western Ontario. I am an active echocardiographer who has been certified and recertified by the National Board of Echocardiography. I am certified in cardiac sonography and have trained and completely educated a number of cardiac sonographers. I am the medical director of my cardiology laboratory which was established in 2001. My laboratory performs echocardiography and stress echocardiography amongst other tests. I maintain my certification in the American Board of Internal Medicine. I have over 27 years of experience as a hospital-based consultant in internal medicine and intensive care unit attending physician. I am the medical director of the cardiac rehabilitation program in my community.

Infected with COVID in March 2021 and recovered. I am a healthcare worker that worked the whole pandemic on site and got sick just as vaccination was being initiated. Because of my infection and recovery I opted out of the vaccine. I encountered DELTA and OMICRON with no infection from either. I have maintained vaccine free status.
Due to Governor Hochul’s Vaccine Mandate I along with over 34 Thousand Healthcare Heroes turned Zeros are “resigned with cause” and haven’t been working since November 2021….. and I still am not vaccinated and not reinfected.

My daughter was an ER nurse. Same story as yours. My granddaughter dropped out of nursing school because of the mandate though I think she is planning to go back. Turns out some hospitals allow unvaccinated traveling nurses to work there.

Why would natural immunity be a taboo subject unless we are being gas lighted by the govt and big pharma?
And why on earth are various governments so accommodating to big pharma, in mandating their products without regards to actual science??

It's frustrating that no government officials or maufacturers have been held accountable.
They were exempted from accountability by the president. The large pharmaceutical companies support each party with $$ through PACs and others. We are victims of politics unfortunately but at least we are alive unlike some of the vaccinated folks who had reactions.

remember the deep divide between anti vaxxers and the rest of us. Dr Moran is using scientific definition and data. The term innate immunity has mostly been used by people who have no knowledge of the immune system, but imagine they themselves are clean and pure enough to not need any vaccine.

I am unvaccinated and my husband is vaccinated, we got covid together and the symptoms were similar. My fever was higher but we got recovered at the same time.... This was on October and from that moment, my husband already got sick 2 times ... I feel like his immune system got weaker than mine.
My wife got sick after the first jab then very sick after the second. I didn’t get jabbed at all and never got sick so I started drinking out of the same cup, kissing her etc when she was sick. I caught what seemed like a 24 hour flu. Not too sick some chills, coughing. I recovered quickly and she was still coughing more than a year later.

I had a sore throat in 2023 for 1 day then runny nose the 2 days that followed. Recovered just fine and even worked from home. No experimental injections or pharma products taken in over 5 years.
Out of curiosity, did you test for COVID?
@@robertchanrussell2010 no but certainly wonder about the results. i had a normal cold like any other and finally took some z pack thats been collecting dust for ages. I think the testing stations are fraudulent, unnecessary, and/or for DNA collection. never took a single test.

I really appreciate your video. I had Delta in winter 2021, it took me a few weeks to fully recover. I am unvaccinated and will remain that way. We got a reinfection last month and it was nothing like the prior one. I barely even felt sick. I only had a slight fever and a little bit of a body ache. I was better in about 4 days. My natural immunity definitely helped me out a lot but as you mentioned immunity doesn't mean you won't get it again. Some may not get reinfected or some may get an easier infection. My 4 month old even got over it in 12 hours.
I am 71 . Got sick Feb 2020 and have long COVID. I have been exposed to omicron 4x. I have not gotten it again. I do practice naso pharyngeal hygiene after exposure. Thank you for all you do.

There is currently no vaccine requirements for any of Europe and i believe its the same for masks in public or on public transport. No masks required in England any where except maybe for hospitals.

Unfortunately due to this ridiculous policy of USA, I am not able to attend funeral of a family member tomorrow. I’m in Canada and this is March of 2023. As far as I know US is the only country pushing this vaccine mandate
It's time to get off the estrogen. mRNA vaccines are the US Military's bioweapon.
UK is still encouraging the old and vulnerable to get vaccinated but there is no pressure. We've stopped vaccinating younger people entirely. You still see a few signs about wearing masks but otherwise the UK is back to 'normal'.

In December 2009, I received a severe concussion. Up to that point, every year, I would receive it flu vaccine, and every year, like clockwork, I would get an influenza infection. The concussion gave me a memory disorder and seizures. As I was nearing death from forgetting to eat, in 2011, an NCIS agent got me to a professor of neurology.who developed a chemical treatment that ended the seizures and it was like awakening from a very bad dream. So from. 2012 on I did not get a flu shot and until last month did not even catch a cold. Since I am now 78 I was very shocked. I am very healthy save for the medication I must take twice a day without fail, and I ride 100 or more miles per week on my bicycle, and up until this recent cold over 4,000 feet of climbing per week. I stand upright and am only 5 or so lbs overweight though it looks more like 10. (6'4" and 195 lbs) Until this year I didn't feel like I was slowing down. And perhaps I am not, just forced by mountain road closures to minimize my riding routine.

Those cats are really cute and lovely and I love watching them alongside but then it becomes really hard to focus on what you say. Dr. Moran, this is my fist commenting to your UA-cam channel. First, THANK YOU! for your rational coverage of C19. Your rational coverage helped me in many ways.
I have never been vaccinated for C19. I am not an anti-vax person. I only questioned how this issue was ram-rodded and the lack of real info was suppressed and how it became such a toxic subject with political alignments. Absolutely horrible.
In my choice, there has been ramifications on my part. These last two holiday seasons, I was not able to visit with my wife our family in Brazil. Brazil requires the medical passport with the 2 shot C19 vaccine.

Hi Dr Moran, thank you for doing this video, the first thing I want to say is how much I admire the cat's nest!, seeing the animal in there so obviously at ease is delightful!.
During your description of the manifold ways immune systems work for us could have included the fact, as observed by Shane Crotty and his team that adaptive immune response can not only provide 'memory' cells ready and waiting to deal with a repeat of the same infection but actually create extra ones prepared to deal with potential variants of the original pathogen, as far as I am aware the same does not apply to this type of vaccination.

Canada dropped the vaccine mandate for entry months ago, and we assumed the USA would as well, but they did not. Also, as we had vaccine shortages, in my province they did advise to avoid getting vaccinated for a couple of months if previously infected to allow others to get it, as the previously infected person would have some natural immunity.
A great video. If people such as yourself, Campbell etc. were able to get together, imagine how many will have sadly not been poisoned. Keep up the good fight....you are winning.

You are one of the standout in mentioning natural immunity .... If you × survive × the infection. Many, including those in the thread here, still miss this point even though you have highlighted it again here in your vid.
I do think he has pointed out in other videos that age plays a large role (as well as general health status) in the severity of an infection.

A concern I have had since the pandemic started is about Original Antigenic Sin (OAS). I was infected in November 2019 and almost died (there were of course no Covid diagnostics at that time). Since then, my extended family (eight people) have all been vaccinated and infected by Covid multiple times. I asked my doctor about OAS-- would my original infection give me better immunity than the spike protein based monotherapy?-- , but received no answers (she didn't even believe in natural immunity, or perhaps was quoting the health authorities). I never became sick with Covid again despite spending much time with my close relatives some of whom became very sick (flu-like). I am particularly concerned about travel to other countries (for weddings and seeing friends). I do not want to get the jabs to travel, if that may interfere with my present presumed immunity. OAS says No! however, hybrid immunity does not seem that great in my relatives, several of whom have had Covid as many as three times (they accused me of being the carrier! I think that is unlikely though I suppose I could have been asymptomatic.)
OK, Mandrake, what did you do with the cats? BTW I'm still amazed that flu deaths dropped from 25,000 in 2019-2020 to 5,000 in 2021-2022. Coincidence?

Dr. Moran: I was told by 2 doctors that natural immunity is Covid-strain specific. For me, after getting a break through Delta case in summer 2021, I skipped all boosters until fall 2022 and took the bivalent Modena booster. In January 2023, I got a 2nd case of Covid. So I wonder if my 2nd case was due to the waning Delta immunity? Or exposure to a new strain?
Suspect the jabs weaken natural immunity.

The strains will all have some parts that are the same. As your body has been exposed to the full virus through natural exposure, it will recognise some part of the variant, therefore it would react. As I understand it (from watching Dr's such as Moran), it would be a different virus if none of it was the same.

Didn't know about the tennis player that was stopped at the border. I though US already stopped the vax pass three months ago.
My health immunity was perfect before the vaccine. Now it's a nightmare with autoimmune diseases. I had an immediate reaction (10-15minutos) and since that moment my good health ended. There's no medicine help for now.

Thanks for sharing, you make complex subjects much easier to understand. I guess it is easier to log if you had a vaccine, but maybe difficult to have a log if you caught a disease... so maybe that is why it is easier for a country to say- show us your vaccine card. Just a guess.
There is a point to restricting travel, which is the usual problem with viruses - evolution. Few people travel internationally a lot, which means that different countries will have different evolutionary branches. This means that, while you may be naturally immunized to the virus that's in, say, Germany, the virus form they have in, say, Canada might still be able to get you. The vaccine likely works as a standard for levelling the field, though we know that its effectiveness drops by the exact same mechanism over time. Thus, if the vaccine is tested for protection against all/most known variants of the virus in the wild everywhere, then it can act as a more reliable standard than natural immunity.

Surely given the err, enormous problem of obesity in the US which correlated strongly with mortality during the first two waves there must be few patients who you would advise to not take the vaccine? Not hard is it Doc?

It should be noted the only way to get natural immunity is to catch the virus and survive. That is safer to do if you are vaccinated first. However I agree that once you have been infected without being vaccinated first that immunity should count as well.
I would think older people in good health, for their age, would have better immunity against most virus out there.
In my case, pretty damned good. I haven't had the flu in 15 years and haven't had a flu shot in 15 years, either. Last time I got the flu was AFTER getting the shot. As for Covid, I never have been vaccinated and I'm still fine, as I was before the pandemic.
