There was no lead singer of the group they all took turns leading songs because they all can SANG
PERIODT
Amazing vocalists. Pity they fell out so badly for so long. " Funky Divas" drama! lol
Ain't no Beyonce here ... every member has a platinum hit for a song they led
@@epkbutle what was the reason of bringing up a different group?
FACTS!!
En Vogue is one of the only female groups that has no lead singer. They all sing lead. Unlike some other female groups....😏
They all sing lead at times but she was the lead singer. Every group have one singer they build their sound around. They also mentioned this in an current interview a year or so ago.
@@carlmilton8197 where you heard that?.... if anything Maxine voice was the Xfactor and Unique Tone.....
Little Mix sang an excellent version. They split the song into four individual parts and are still going strong after 9 years.

💯💯💯✔️💜
The movie is Set It Off - classic 90s movie about female bank robbers
Thank for the info yeah
Classic film that was ahead of it's time.
I'm not gon front like I ain't cry like a baby when I watched that as a kid lol
Gonna watch it now😢
My favorite movie of all time. You need to see it!!
"I often fantasize the stars aBOOoooove are watching you." Singggggg! This my shit! 💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾
En Vogue will forever be IMMORTAL! Those women could not only sing their azzes off but were all fine as hell too! LoL As far as “female groups” are concerned, they were/are the PROTOTYPE!
En Vogue - Never Gonna Get It, Giving Him Something He Can Feel, Whatta Man, Free Your Mind, Hold On
This list right here 👍
Whatta Man with Salt n pEpa!!! and Hold ON
Opening up pandora's box
He won't know what him once he gives My Lovin' (Never Gonna Get It) a listen! And I can't wait for his adorable faces and "they got me feelin' some type of way" when he watches the video for Giving Him Something He Can Feel! 😁
FREE YOUR MIND - FREE YOUR MIND!
Yeah...see this is music. Everybody could actually sing.
Dawn - “ponytail,” sang the 2 verses
Maxine - short hair, sang the bridge before the final choruses
Cindy - Did the ad libs in the first part of the finale (my favorite)
Terry - Did the ad libs at the end
They all sing on Free your mind. One of their best songs.
There's another version of the video that doesn't feature scenes from the movie. In that version its revealed they all are singing to the same guy because he was in a relationship with all of them. Funny thing is the guy is the same guy(Mekhi Phifer) from the boy is mine video
I was asking where is he what happened forgot there were 2 versions to this video!
Came here to say this!
Me too actually lol
It's the reason why Cindy takes off her jacket and kicks it to Mekhi. It makes sense in the other video; not in this one
God, todays women singers need to take a page. This is some passion.
I love their voices - Free your Mind, Whatta Man, Never Gonna Get it.
Now it's time for a break down.
@@toriboy25 Free your mind and the rest will follow'
Those are my other favourite songs alongside don’t let go of course.
I think the concept of the video is that the group is performing for a listening party for one of their records.
En Vogue’s music is something you experience rather than just listen to. And vocaaaalllllls🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
They were/are best female singing group ever.
AVANT “ separated”
Deborah cox “Nobodys supposed to be here”
En Vogue is the quintessential female R&B group. ❤️😍 Take a listen to their song, “Lies” and “Hold On”. All of them could SANG.
Jack Reacts You’re so
bomb, thank u! 🙏🏾
The movie is Set it Off ... Dawn, Cindy,Maxine and Terry are their names. They all can sing...nobody is singing like this today. They were powerful
THIS song is such a CLASSIC
They all sing the lead in the songs so no she's not the only one
They all sing but she was the lead singer and initial sound of the group.
@Carl Milton Probably more "the face" front man of the group. She defs has the power in her voice coupled with the staunchness to carry it out. Just my opinion. Unified however...DAMN!
@@carlmilton8197 Dawn was not the lead singer, but she sang lead on all of their biggest hits; this was their biggest hit. (Dawn also sang lead on "Something He Can Fee" and "My Lovin'" on the bridge and outtros -- MAJOR contribution to their image and sound she was, which is why they do not exist any more).
This song was on the soundtrack for the movie Set It Off. If you haven't seen that movie you should watch it its a classic.
do you know where i could find it
Giving him something he can feel you would like that too😊
It’s Set it Off (1996)
One of the best all black female movies!
I love En Vogue! They all could SANG!
I loved everything about this group. So talented with a little mix of everything.
it's the recording industrys fault they only sign good looking girls with average or even bad singers
“Free Your Mind” is fusion R&B with hard rock!!
Giving Him Something He Can Feel is a really good song
En Vogue was THE female R&B group of the 90's. Some of their other great songs are "Never Gonna Get It", "Let It Flow", "Free Your Mind", and "Give Him Something He Can Feel"
I think TLC might have something to say about that!
En Vogue, didn't have a lead singer. All four of them sang lead on different songs. Dawn, Maxine, Cindy and Terri were a force to be reckoned with! This song was on the "Set It Off" soundtrack; the movie starred Jada Pinkett Smith, Queen Latifah, Vivica Fox and Kimberly Elise. Such a good movie!
Finally En Vogue! "My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It)" and "Giving Him Something He Can Feel." Please.
They don't make music like this now. Such a shame
En Vogue - Hold On
En Vogue - Never Gonna Get It
En Vogue - Free Your Mind
I'dd add "Giving Him Something He Can Feel" to that list.
"Runaway Love'
"Whatever"
Too gone, too long
Did you see his reaction to Hold On? If not here it is. ua-cam.com/video/gYZ6oSHa1iY/v-deo.html
I also want see him react to Never Gonna Get It and Free Your Mind :)
They were one of the greatest groups of all time.
Oh yea En Vogue they all have songs that they lead. That was the special thing about this group!
Don't go is by far my favorite
Don't go not to be confused with Don't let go is my favorite.
Dawn (ponytail)
Maxi (short hair)
Terri (brown hair)
Cyndi (tallest)
These ladies here Jack, finally get to see the best group of ladies since the 90's at least when I got into them. They are one of the top groups of all times besides TLC and they all are very good.I love all your reactions to mostly all the artist I've watched.Greatest Reactor!!!
Nothing beats R'n'B of the 90s. So many amazing groups. How'd we go from this to the garbage music today SMH.
it's depressing to say the least :(
Correct…ABSOLUTELY NOTHING touches 90’s RnB! Whatever passes for “RnB” today doesn’t sniff the talent or essence of the 90’s! Smh
En Vogue - my all time favourite group.
Fun fact:
This was the last music video with all 4 of the original group members (Terry, Cindy, Dawn, & Maxine). They released 2 AMAZING studio albums together before this in 1990 & 1992. Dawn left the group to go solo in 1997 shortly before their 3rd studio album was released. This was their biggest single to date. They are definitely among the best of the best female groups of all time
Heavenly funky choir,gifted girls..... uyyy
EnVogue!!
I lived in East Oakland eleven years...this is an Oakland group. This moves me, can't help moving and getting a face all feeling like I'm in this song. Oh my, umhummmm! " Set it off" is from that same movie sound track. Love, Peace and Music💓 Cali Kalima
Hands down the greatest female group of all time, nobody even comes close vocal wise.
Ivan Matias one of the songs writers / producer gave me some info on it not long ago.
Dawn Robinson does the main lead on this, it was written with her in mind as the lead, she sang lead on most of their biggest hits but they all had hits with each girl singing.
Maxine sang second, she does all the low harmonies in the group, her part was done in one vocal take.
Cindy who does the adlibs (with the big curly hair) her bit was done when she was just let loose in the studio, it came out of nowhere.
Terry who does the final adlibs at the end was sick on the day of recording, her adlibs were added later and only appear on the video version and some remixes, but not on the album or single or soundtrack version.
@Right_Direction dawn had a special talent she makes you feel what she sings
Jack they can all SANG. When you describe music by way of It’s got soul rock and r&b, We call that FUNK.
I didn't see set it off until a few years ago. It is a classic
FUN FACT: The song was by Organized Noize the same people who produced TLC Waterfalls and the movie was directed by F F Gray the same director who produced the music video to Waterfalls.
"All of them can sing..."
Yes, Jack. All of them can sing!
And that's a really 🔥 karaoke
All of them can sing and they sound just like that live❤❤❤
Love those “Funky Divas”. This was basically their last hit with the original group. Dawn, who you call ponytail, left the group after this. En Vogue is a group where all can easily sing lead. I long for the day when they can come together again.
Jack, yes, Dawn did leave the group and after an unsuccessful solo career. she joined forces with Raphael Saadiq from the group tony Toni toné and Ali Shaheed Muhammad from a tribe called Quest. The three of them created a group called Lucy Pearl... Dawn was lead and they also had a few great bangers. "DANCE TONIGHT " "DONT MESS WITH MY MAN"
But yes, Envogue was the quintessential girl group. Dawn, Maxine, Terry, Cindy, we're all amazing singers. There was no lead... hands down, they were the best girl group ever. They paved the way for so many. They represented Style, Beauty and Fashion
Boy, you need to get your ears onto En Vogue...they are some of the best vocalists in the genre of R&B and are living legends. Think The Supremes with voices that sound as soulful as Aretha but as funky as James Brown. The movie that this is from is Set It Off, a cult classic with Jada, Queen Latifah, Vivica Fox and Kimberly Else. Watch the movie when you get a chance, its dope!
They are from the Bay Area Beautiful and talented beyond measure. I have always been inspired by these Queens
All them sing lead depending on the song. These women are the only female group I know of the where they all sung lead.
I grew up in the 90's En Vogue was big! The movie was Set it off. Another good song by them is Giving him something he can feel.
React to Brownstone - If you love me. They’re a great 90’s r&b girl group with amazing harmonies.
En Vogue & Salt-N-Peppa "Whatta Man" is a great mix Hip-Hop & R&B.
You pronounce the group to break it down in vogue (En Vouge)...
It said they were the best favorite women group in the world because of their singing...😊
They certainly remain one of the top female vocal groups, since the 1990s, but I'd say that Sugababes would be equal to them and definitely more successful, overall.
Check out their cover of En Vogue's "Don't Let Go" ua-cam.com/video/dMecJ-q6Eds/v-deo.html
Man, En Vogue is BEAST! (Dawn, Terry, Cindi and Maxine)
I love this track!
Yes, this is from the film "Set It Off" starring Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smitt, Kimberly Elise and Vivica Fox. It's a really good movie, I watched it many times when It came out in high school and it's held it's own over the years. You should check it out. It's basically about the 4 stars becoming bank robbers while dealing with their own personal drama and with Jada, her character falls in love. So this specific song is regarding her relationship with Blair Underwood's character.
The girl you believe it he lead is 'Dawn' she did do alot of the leads in their songs, but they ALL had lead time in other songs.
You should also do by En Vogue: "FREE YOUR MIND", "GIVING HIM SOMETHING HE CAN FEEL", "MY LOVIN'
Oh and it's pronounced "IN" VOGUE.
Since you've also done TLC I can let in you in a little tidbit regarding Destiny's Child.
*Towards the end of the 90's as the music industry was continuing to change, many of the huge recording contracts labels were not willing to do anymore (like the ones for Janet, MJ and Madonna - who if you didn't know, all 3 signed the largest music industry contracts in history and for Janet she did it twice. Back then labels would dish out 60/70 million-dollar contracts for x amount of albums/tour etc...) - the labels wanted to keep more control of artists songs/albums ect... unlike MJ, Janet, Prince and Madonna that had it included in their contracts that they own their own music. So when the industry was looking to capitalize off of a new wave of artists (Britney, Xtina, Jessica Simpson, Backstreet, N'Sync etc..) when looking for girl groups - labels were looking for a combination of TLC and En Vogue. They wanted the street/hip hop/R&B angle (TLC) and at the same time the labels wanted a group where each member can hold their own, be classy and sing a power ballad (En Vogue) = when Destiny's Child's manager (Beyonce's Dad) was pitching the group to various labels, DC matched with what the label wanted at the time and that is how Destiny's Child landed mainstream success. It's similar to the male boy bands as well, labels wanted a combination of Boys to Men & New Kids on the Block and that's how we got Backstreet, N'Sync, 98*, etc..
Fun Fact. Dawn the lady singing the most and Terry the lady who sung at the very end were supposed to be co leads on this song but Terry lost her voice the day they were to record her part. On the original song it was Dawn (first lady), Maxine (lady singing second) and Cindy (lady singing third) on lead. Terry’s adlib had to be added later on.
Not sure if you've done: "Giving him something he can feel" by EnVogue. I remember that video in particular, I think you would like it.
Dawn Robinson (the one who sang the verses) was also in a great supergroup with Raphael Saadiq (from Tony Toni Tone) and Ali Shaheed Muhammad (from A Tribe Called Quest) called Lucy Pearl. They only released one album - a self titled album in 2000 - but it was an incredible album that spawned some great singles Dance Tonight, Don’t Mess With My Man and Without You. I’d strongly recommend checking it out.
En Vogue members are Dawn Robinson, Maxine Jones, Terry Ellis & Cindy Herron-Braggs
Dawn Led the song and Maxine co-lead vocal and then Cindy Herron-Braggs co-lead vocal and Terry Ellis in that Order!!
This is my go-to karaoke song!! Lol En Vogue, total, and TLC were/are untouchable. Glad you enjoyed it
Jack Reacts it’s the best, liquid courage helps!! since u did some TLC and En Vogue..Total should def be next on your list.. can’t you see ft biggie or what about us are both classics
From the movie, Set it Off, wit Jada, Queen Latifah, Vivvca Fox, Kimberly Elise & Blair Underwood. Whenever you see a group like this with so much punch, you gotta know they can all blow. The talk one is Cindy, short one Maxine, long haired w/ dark lipstick is Dawn, & the last one to start solo on this was Terri. She’s the one wh starts out solo on Hold On. More you might like: Givin Him Somethin He can Feel, their take on an Aretha Franklin hit; Free Your Mind (even harder rock feel, wit powerful message); What a Man (w/ Salt & Pepa); Never Gonna Get It, probably their biggest hit. It’s killin!
Envoyé has a beautiful song featuring salt n per what a man
This song is from the soundtrack of the 1996 film "Set it Off" with Jada Pinkett and Queen Latifah. The ENTIRE soundtrack is the bomb!
Set it off is one of my all time favourite movies, funny, sad, action, drama it has everything! The director also directed TLC waterfalls amongst others
Hey Jack. No lead singer. It just depended on the song who would take certain parts. They can all blow🔥🔥🔥🔥 Set It Off is the movie. Iconic 90’s movie. And that fine fine man is Blair Underwood👀❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This song was the "love theme" of the movie Set It Off. It played during the sex scene between Blair Underwood and Jada Pinkett's characters. This is the last song that they all sang together before the group became EV3 (Dawn-less). Terri Ellis has a solo hit titled "Where Ever You Are." Dawn joined Lucy Pearl for awhile. They have some good songs. Hits: "Dance Tonight", "Don't Mess With My Man" (favorite).
How about working with Foxy Brown to record a hip-hop song?
if im not mistaken this song is produced by Organized Noise who produced the majority of Outkast music and they use a lot of rock/funk sounds with live instrumentation. they also did TLC waterfalls which has a similar sound. ATL Dungeon Family legends.
I don't remember any other female singing group where they were all this talented.
You speak factually. No one comes close at all. I love En vogue.
Maybe you've never hear of #Sugababes ?
Across their 4 line-ups and 6 different members, they've all been talented and could stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the ladies of Ev Vogue.
They did an amazing cover of this track, a few years ago... ua-cam.com/video/dMecJ-q6Eds/v-deo.html
Xscape
@@quanahedwards2778 They're kickin' it!
@@adlad75 i love the sugababes but they aren't as talented as en vogue , and had some weak vocalists like heidi, amelle. Mutya has a great tone to her voice but not a great range and keisha has a great voice but she can't make youi feel like how dawn does here
EV4 has no lead singers. During the 90’s they did away with that old concept with groups like EV, TLC, Xscape, Brownstone, Total, The Braxton’s. It was all about the collective. SWV, was really the only group that had a lead singer, but it was still about the group. Then Destinys Child came, and switched it back to the old way of one lead singer in front with the others in the background.
Even tho SWV had Coko on lead, she wouldn't have made it alone... Like she's got the voice but Leelee and Taj have the relatability.... Most people prefer the other two in terms of entertainment and performance wise even tho Coko has them vocals
T-Boyz was the lead singer of TLC and 702 had Kameelah too
TLC also didn't sing their background vocals. Left Eye never sang.
Also from Set It Off is a beautiful song called Missing You. Brandy, Tamia, Gladys Knight, and Chaka Khan.
The lead singer in this group is the girlfriend of lead actor in 2pac in the movie "Juice"
Here is some requests for Mother's Day for May 10th:
Boyz II Men: "A song for mama"
Tupac: "Dear Mama"
LL Cool J: "Mama said knock you out"
Sizzla - Thank You Mama
Spice girls- mama
No problem. It's great to see someone appreciate and breakdown the music I grew up with.
You should definitely react to hold on and giving him something he could feel by them!!
They ALL can BLOW!
Their harmony is unmatched...the best female vocal group ever. They have good songs. They have no lead singer...because all of the ladies can sing, and they all take turns!!!
Wow you have to do giving him something he can feel, by envouge.. it's one of their best be prepared to have your mind blown..
I think everyone has addressed your other questions, so I'll just answer the one about who's who :): Dawn Robinson is the one with the half-up, half-down hair (I think I remember hearing a snippet of a Lucy Pearl song--"Dance Tonight," I believe--in one of your earlier videos; she was in that group too); Maxine Jones is the one with the short pixie cut; Cindy Herron is the one with the curly hair and bangs; and Terry Ellis is the one with the high ponytail who's singing the outro. The four of them were the founding members of the group (line up changes happened in subsequent years). Each En (pronounced like 'in') Vogue member has sung lead at one time or another, and like many others, this is one of my favorite things about the group.
I agree that this has a rock edge, and so does "Free Your Mind" (1992). I recommend that one, as well as "'My Lovin'" for an introduction to another musical side of them :).
FYI: Destiny’s Child draws a lot of inspiration from this group...DC loved them and said they were a huge influence to their career!
DC had Their choreographer , Frank Gaston, he put a lot of EV influences into DC.
This song is from the movie& soundtrak "Set It Off" starring Jada Pinkett-Smith. En(In) Vogue was the quintessential pop/r&b female group of the 90's. The primary lead(Dawn Robinson), short hair (Maxine Jones ), big curly hair(Cindy Herron) & curly high ponytail (Terry Ellis). They would take turns singing lead vocals because they're that TALENTED & EXQUISITE! The Supremes of 90's for sure.❤💕🌹
@@JackReacts904Hey Jack! And they did many times! En Vogue amassed plenty platinum hits, this was a nice introduction! Honorable mentions that would be great to react to from En Vogue: "Giving Him Something He Can Feel","Hold On","Free Your Mind","Don't Go" "My Lovin(Never Gonna Get It)".
Dawn leads this song. This was not a group where anyone was considered the lead singer. They all were lead singers.
@@JackReacts904 I think their biggest hit was Never Gonna Get it. My favorite was Runaway Love. 😁 you should check them out!!
This is from the movie " Set It Off it" which was released in 1996.
This song was also released in 1996.
Lead singer in the beginning is Dawn.. check her in the collaborative group Lucy Pearl.. Dawn from En Vogue, Rafael Saadiq from Tony Toni Tone and Ali Shaheed Muhammad from A Tribe Called Quest.. check em, they're smooth and groovy af. Lucy Pearl!
Hated when they split up. Now some of the group is back together. Thanks so much.😍😘🎈
En is pronounced like the word " In" That's a sound track from the movie Set it off. Highly recommend that movie!
Another one of their songs I loooove is called Don't Go, it's a great video too
The leader of the group Envoe started a group with the leader from the group ToneyToneyToney called Lucy Pearl.
Dawn is amazing who is the so called "main" singer . I so wished she was still with the group. Also my favorite line is when she sings, "If I could wear your clothes I'd pretend I was you and lose control". I don't know too many women that haven't wore their guys favorite t-shirt or dress shirt and take the feel of it and the smell of his skin on it and fantasize about him. :) I love when artists give you a play on words to invoke the mind.
The members are lead singer Dawn, short hair Maxine, curly hair Cindy and the last one is Terry.
Hey Jack , React to Whatta Man it's Salt n Peppa ft. En Vogue 👍🏽
Please react to Bobby Brown - Every Little Step
& I’d also recommend New Edition - if it isn’t love
If I could give this more likes I would lol
Lemarcus Malvo :)
It’s pronounced like In Vogue. The original formation was lethal! Every member led a different hit song, and had different styles to their voices. Gotta check out some live performances from them: Lies(live at Apollo, Giving Him Something he can feel live, Hold On, Don’t Go.
To truly hear this group listen to Part of Me from their first album...also the song Don't Go
Just copy-and-paste from Wikipedia: "Dawn Robinson sings the entire lead while Maxine Jones performs the bridge. Cindy Herron performs a verse to the bridge. Terry Ellis sings outro lyrics in the music video version". Those four were the original members (only two of them - Cindy and Terry - are still in the group).
It's not their first experiment with their sound and rock flavor. Check out "Free Your Mind" next. They popped OFF on that video!! Haha
Please watch Whitney singing live a medley at the American Music Award 1994. How can one sound even better live than a recording. Miss Whitney does. A must listen. It bring chills down my spine.
So the movie is called Set It Off...check it out its a classic. The members (in order that they sang are) Dawn, Maxine, Cindy, and Terry. The group has broken up multiple times because of different views on how they should be managed. When Dawn first left the group the remaining 3 (Maxine, Cindy, and Terry) called themselves EV3. Check out "Whatever" Now the group is split down the middle with Team A. Terry and Cindy and Team B. Dawn and Maxine. Terry and Cindy have another member (I don't know her name) but recently all 5 members performed together
I'm glad you reacted to this 😍
You need to watch the film, it's a classic. Jada Pinkett is in it with Queen Latifah and Vivica Fox.
Please react to Mya - Case of the Ex
The “lead singer” went off to become a solo artist later. Please react to Lucy Pearl “I wanna dance tonight.” You won’t be disappointed
nar theyt pretty much kicked her out
