Hey all, hope you enjoy this beautiful song! There's a full arrangement with the chord melody solo at Patreon.com/MTGuitar Hope you have a great weekend!
This is one of those songs which is timeless and transcendent, Mark Knopfler didn't write it, he received it from a higher power. Thanks for the lesson.
You made this attainable for me. Your B minor with the muted 4th string on the verse and B minor with the pinky on the first string in the chorus was the secret sauce needed (no other vids did that.). Thanks a million
Just found this song yesterday and can’t believe I’ve missing out on it for so long lol. I really like at 15:02 when you explained how it’s okay to not play it exactly like the original song. That’s a big struggle for me to get over but it’s nice to hear it’s not essential lol.
I love this so much! Shocking that you uploaded it so recently! I finally learnt this song after a week of hard work and persistence, thank you very much. I've learnt a great deal of songs from you, If, fearless and goodbye blue sky from Pink Floyd and now this! You're one of the finest UA-cam teachers out there.
My thumbsup came just after the beautiful playing and singing demo in the beginning. Wonderfull! Now I will see if I can learn this, at least little bit.
Very good tutorial of a great song. Except for one thing: I used to have that exact same little Martin resonator. I loved that thing, but ended up selling it to help pay for some very expensive veterinary care for my cat. I found that 000 body size with the cutaway to be very comfortable. The tone was OK too, certainly for the price. I miss that guitar, and miss the cat. But seeing your Alt II resonator brought back some fine memories.
For anyone it might help, i dont have a cappo, so use the open g tuning but tune the 6th string up to f, and just barr the 3rd fret in place of the open chord

Why you taking off the left hand in that open position
It’s open !
Just say "think of the capo as your new nut and think of chord shapes, ignore absolute chord pitches." Keep it simple.
You kinda sound like the singer that sings this mate
Mark Knopfler
Too many words...
wow so good
Thank you so much ,it seems easy, but it s not. Thanks!!
