Mickey yeah just remember owner training a dog already has a high rate of the dog not making it and going to a shelter only makes it higher since the dog has a unknown background which could lead to medical problems or behavioral issues that ultimately prevent the dog to continue training but hey if you have your heart set on it just make sure to have a training lined up Incase those issues become too difficult
Grace Martin Unfortunately I don’t believe support animals is practice in terms of mental health but rather a physical disabilities in the uk but do have a second look around.
Vida-Joda Kigundu I think it’s neurological like other mental health issues and I have anxiety that Spurs it on but it’s because of it (I’m a bit like the Spider-Man meme)
I understand why emotional support animals aren't allowed in public areas that don't allow animals, but I honestly think they should be. There are many different types of anxieties, but as someone with social anxiety, I would think an emotional support animal would be very useful. I don't know, that's just my opinion. Also, while discussing emotional support dogs with my mother (we've been considering getting one for me due to my fairly recent mental health diagnoses), she brought up the fact that it would be nice if there was a card of sorts, like an id, to verify for those who ask. That would likely make it a lot easier to prove if you really do have an emotional support animal (due to all the people who try and fake them). I thought that was an interesting idea, and thought of it while watching this video.
If someone needs their esa out in public with them like that they should see if they qualify for a Psychiatric service dog and yes some people think having ID cards would be good but that would not stop fakes from making their own or what about the people who owner train these are some of the problems faced when coming up with a solution hopefully we will find one soon
Emotional Support Animals don't have to be trained and no one with a TRAINED SERVICE DOG wants someones pet barking, lunging, annoying them when their dog has an important job to do; detect blood pressure, seizures, passing out etc. If you train your ESA, sure, but then it's really just up to the owners to be honest and remove their ESA if it acts out (which very few do currently).
Emotional support animal bring Comfort only. Not to mention that they aren't trained. Emotional support animals are just there so you can pet them BUT only at home. Service animals are animals we depend on and need. Without them we could die. also a dog used for Anxiety or any other mental health issue, is called a psychiatric service dog. Esa dogs are basically regular pets but you don't have to pay a pet fee for your house..
Thank you for the information. Due to my health, I have been stuck at home for many years now and I have slowly been getting more depressed so I’m looking into Cavs as a companion. I love watching your page!
I have a Cavalier (Tesla) and she is my baby! I got her in 5th grade when I first started having clinical depression (my parents thought I could use a friend that couldn't stab me in the back lol) and the first year of college has been surprisingly hard without her. Tesla has very bad separation anxiety and her sister (another cavi who was 15) died last July. Tesla doesn't play or eat much when I leave. Tesla has training but isn't a certified ESA. My parents and I have been wanting to get her certified for the sake of me and her. This video was a lot of help :)
Brooklynn Hall Brooklynn I think I’m falling into depression slowly but surely because every day at school I feel so pressured and sometimes I wish I was in heaven

I kinda hate the way she went about this video. She started it off with a story about how she basically registered her dogs because she wanted to be with them 24/7 and bring them with her places where dogs weren’t allowed, as well as using examples of how people just use ESA as an excuse to have dogs in pet-free housing. I understand that these are benefits of ESA, but that is not what they are intended for. ESA is for people to have an animal to help them with serious mental issues, not because they want to bring their dog on a plane. I don’t know this woman’s backstory or her own mental struggles and this is not me claiming that she’s abusing this program, I am however saying that she is presenting this as if it’s just an easy way to have your dogs wherever and whenever you want.
Thank you so much for this video! I was one of the people who requested it. I really do think a cav would be a great help for me emotionally. I dream about the day I can take one home to be part of our family!

Also, I have a lot of anxiety and stress. But I feel like my dog wouldn't be a good ESA because he's really hyper and barks a lot. Also, he hates cars/planes.
Love the Jerseys! I really like the music you guys chose in your travel vlog series 🎵💕Made me smile. I use l-lysine and swish with melaleuca oil, warm salt water, and mild peroxide if I get canker sores. Really helps!
Yes! I use 1000 iu vitamin C and Lysine daily to keep them at bay, and I double it during an outbreak to get them gone quicker. It really works! I started taking it daily after I got 16 canker sores at once. I also got a scrip for something called Magic Mouthwash which really soothes the symptoms. I'm going to try the other things you mentioned next time! Thanks!
Thank you for the info! I have another question, when you travel by plane, do you need to put the dog in a crate or carrier? Your lap? Under the seat? Please elaborate.
Hey! I love your videos! Thanks to you my parents agreed to take a Cavalier!! Btw if you’re searching for a video idea could you do an IQ Test on Herky and Milton? Kisses.
Yes! You can easily find them on google by typing: IQ Test for your dog. It’s a bunch of little things you have to do with your dogs with a timer, and they have points for the choices they make. At the end, you have a scaling system who tells you where your dog is. WARNING: This is a test on the internet BUT you can always see them as the most clever in the world. It’s just fun to see how your dog would react. Kisses
I have extremely bad separation anxiety. I can’t go to my school washrooms alone. I am still quite young and I’m a little scared to ask my parents about it. But I would love your opinion on it all! Have a grate day!
I wish i could get an Emotional support dog, ive had depression, anxiety, and a bit of schizophrenia my whole life and I'd love to have a dog that can comfort me
@@Mmmsandwich speak to your doctor, he or she will assess you and if needed you have the option of getting a dog from those who train them or you can train them your self for a specific chore. But first talk to your doctor
Another excellent presentation..!! I am thinking about traveling with my Havachon....Gloria....who has separation anxiety and me, too.......I may do the ESA because, we are lost without each other..!! ;D THANK YOU...!!
I really want a ESA but my mom dosent like dogs... i have ptsd and have terrible panic attacks and get scared a lot in school so me and my dad and my therapist thought that it would be a good idea to get an ESA but I don't know how to convince my mom to any help or ideas? Also thank you for being so open about your emotional support animals!
Get a dog if you can it would help you in so many ways, You would have a friend by your side day and night, and they are a great source of comfort to you. If you can walk the dog everyday it would do you both a world of good. A good walk is one of the best things for depression. Good luck to you
I was wondering that, too. From what I've googled it seems to be an North American thing, sadly. Apparently not all European airlines etc. acknowledge ESAs. I've also got the impression that it's significantly harder to get one here than overseas.
About 2 months ago I was diagnosed with anxiety. But I've had anxiety attacks all throughout my life. When I get them I feel so many things but manly I just feel alone and like I'm just getting swallowed up by the universe and to get through the lonely feeling I self harm. I've been thinking of asking my therapist if they think an ESA could benefit me because I just live in constant fear and when I get anxiety attacks the hit out of the blue and all at once and I just want someone there but I also don't because I'm so scared people will judge me and so I just want an animal i can hold so I'm not alone anymore and I have so.etching there that cares and loves me and wants to help me and I don't have to feel as though I'm burdening someone. Any advice from anyone?
Noelle Baird I think an ESA would be great! Just make sure you’re financially stable! Think about the money you’ll spend on food, vet visits for shots, bowls, leashes, etc. And to make sure you have the time for the dog :) hope this helps
Hi so I have a huge depression, anxiety and ptsd (post traumatic stress disorder) and I really want and need an ESA because I have most of my anxiety attacks in school but my therapist hasn’t talked to me about one. What should I do?
Should I get a support animal then or a service dog? Cause I have high anxiety, nightmares of me killing and then being scared of myself, and wanting to harm myself. (I did and even have passed out a couple of times and hit my head and have panic attacks )
I have schizoaffective disorder which is schizophrenia and bipolar disorder made into one diagnosis so I have both. I also have PTSD from being sexually assaulted. Would I qualify for a psychiatric service dog or would I need an ESA?
Rachael King I would recommend a psychiatric SD :) ESA may help while you’re at home, but have no public access rights. Service dogs are task trained to your disability and can help alert you when you’re about to have an episode of some sort, Hope this helps!
I have an emotional pet his name is Maynard and he's a cat he's a bangle I've had him since he was too tiny and I have severe anxiety and sometimes trouble breathing and ever since I got him he'll sit on my chest and you will purr and breathe until my heart rate goes back to where it should and I am breathing the way I should anytime I don't feel well he knows before I do and he is now 8 years old so anybody says a cat cannot be an emotional pet they're crazy actually I find him very soothing and very comforting I also have a dog as well and they get along great so that's also for an emotional companion for both me and the cat and the exercise so emotional cats work too you know
*i need one I am 8 (ingrade 4 btw) and I need a dog because I have uncontrollable emotions, but my mom says I am fine......* * I always pray I could get one because it just calms me down.....*
LPS Blossom hi I am in 6 grade I am not doubting you though your mom might be right but I don’t know you so I can’t be sure I think you should talk to your doctor or therapist if you have one to see if you do qualify for one good luck
@@mikerogers331 Tell them that that isn't legal and there is no form/registrations for service animal and that your doctor must write a letter for you.
I have anxiety, panic attacks and other symptoms of a mental disorder and I actually adopted my cat to be a kind of ESA (she really is my emotional support she is amazing😍🐈 but she is still a cat and she is scared to go out). And I'm planning to get a Cavalier soon and I would love her to be an actual ESA but we do not have this in Poland it is not something well known. I need to ask my psychiatrist if she would give me some sort of document so I can have my future dog with me at all times. 💖 in case someone is from Poland and have any information please let me know 🤗
I’m debating if I should go with the process for an emotional support animal. I suffer from PTSD. Many people say it would probably help. But I don’t want to bother my family.
Yep, if you have any mental diesese including. Depression, Anxiety, Anorexia, stress, PTSD, ADD, and ADHD. So if you have any of those Then you can get one. I'm planning on getting a dog and registered it to be a ESA.
if it works for you that way, then it is, but if you are having constant stress you may want to talk to someone about what is causing it and was of releiving or reducing it
so i've already been professionally diagnosed with general/social anxiety and depression, and though i'm only 14, can i get an emotional support animal?
i have social anxiety and persistent depression along with other mental disorders and i've been thinking of getting a esd for a while. though it might be a while until i get one.
My apartment is not pet friendly, however. My downstairs neighbor has a cat. My psychiatrist highly recommends that I have an emotional support dog due to my anxiety. She wrote a letter to my LL expressing her opinion on the importance of me being allowed to have an EMSA . My question is how do I approach my LL and express the importance of each getting one.
Recently I been in a really dark place where I literally been braking down often ! feeling hopeless and also having this uncomfortable feeling to even try to talk to people I don't know if wanting to get a esd would help but I dunno I would like to feel some comfort happiness again I need to do more research !
Friendly reminder that ESA’s only have housing access, and you can’t take them into non-pet friendly places. ESA’s are very different from service dogs, and just bring comfort as a pet. They are not specifically task trained. I’ll be happy to answer any questions in the comments!
Im on my holiday i lefted my dog in a dog kennel and the dog kennel said that my dog got sick and can she have consent to bring her to the vets a few hours later i got a call from the vet saying that she died. It depresses me that she didnt get to see me.
I used to have extremely bad depression and anxiety. I never told anyone bc I didn't want to worry anyone (which made me feel super alone) and my dog helped me so much. When she died though, and a few months after my mawmaw passed also, I went into a severe depression. I begged my parents for another animal to help me. I leave for college in 2 years and im hoping i can get my animal registered as an emotional support one so they will allow me to have her in my dorm. Im worried bc I've denied my depression from my doctor so much....Any advice?
So I’m dealing with some stuff (depression) but I haven’t told my parents and such. I starting cutting my arm. My parents are probably the main reason. I just feel worthless and out of place. I don’t know if I should tell anyone but I want help. I know I need it but I don’t know how to get it. With dealing with depression and cutting what would be the best thing to do? If I were to get a service animal of some sort what would it be?
Perfect Pet Paradise you should talk to your parents about your problems and stop cutting yourself, or seek counseling at school , just speak to someone whose willing to listen and help you
How come they dont bark and do toileting while on the plane? Where can my dog get training to be in cabin with me? What do you think is the max hours a dog can travel in cabin? I travel to Asia yearly and I want to bring my dog withme
Are there any funds available to assist a family in purchasing an ESA? My granddaughter is bi-polar and this seems to the be the most recommended assistance for her, but the cost is so much my family cannot afford the dog. Thank you
Farmhouse 17 ESA is any animal, not just dog :) put I wouldn’t get a pet as an ESA until the family is financially stable. As any pet, something may happen and that leaves to vet visits. Got to think about food, beds, shampoo, shots, ect. :)
I would like to get an ESD after my cat passes. She’s 16, has diabetes and rotting infected teeth that are making her immune system weak from keeping the infection from spreading. But I would also need to move out. My dad doesn’t want a dog in the house because of fleas. I have PTSD, depression, mood disorder, GAD, social anxiety and androphobia. After I move then I will get a dog. Although my sister is talking tome about getting another cat.
I honestly feel that i need an ESA because I suffer from anxiety and depression and its only gotten worse in recent years I had a major breakdown the other week on my birthday it was so bad that I was crying for 3 days straight I stopped eating I couldn’t keep food down and one if my friends suggested when I see my psychiatrist a few weeks I ask about an ESA if having one would help me. I do feel it would help a lot I don’t travel much especially with covid however I do have anxiety when traveling long distance by car I have separation anxiety I miss home even when I’m at a friends house I miss home a lot and an ESA would help me a lot in my opinion but we’ll see what my doctor says.
I’m having a severe anxiety attack right now. I’m incredibly afraid of the ocean. I can’t look at or hear about the ocean or large bodies of water. My anxiety right now is through the roof. I’m crying and I’m incredibly scared and I can’t deal with it. I’m crying so much. I can’t look at pictures of the ocean or hear about the ocean. I don’t know if this means I should get an emotional support animal or not but I really need advice. Please anything will help.
I have depression and anxiety and think that this would help me but what is my mom or therapist or psychiatrist say that it is not fit for me or something like that. it's just a concern I have.
Hi there this is my first time on your site and I found it very informative. I have a question for you. My husband suffers from bipolar 1 disorder, and I was wondering if that would qualify and if so what would the steps be in order to be able to get a dog? Thank you in advance for your answer. Have a great day.
Karlie Peterson yea I believe so. If you have severe OCD it would go along the lines of stress etc. Because I can only imagine how stressful that disorder is. So a ESA would really help
Hi i need an esa and im german. I cant find any Tipps what exactly has to be written in the physician letter. Are two esa allowed for one Person?(just asking because you habe 2 dogs... What physician can write the letter?just mental or others also?
My mom might get me one for my panic attacks she just has to make sure the dog will be fine with my regular dogs so she knows the esa won’t react to my non-esas 😌
My dog isn't trained to be a emotional support dog but I'm a thousand percent sure he's doing the job :)

I actually don't know if I have depression. I do have SOME symptoms of depression but does that technically make me depressed
Bijoux Searles I would talk to your doctor
Thanks!
I'm finding it so hard to find a breeder for the Cavalier, any suggestions?
Pets4homes on google
My mom has Parkinson's as well, will this be good for her
Thank you for the info!
Kisses.
LOL does that exist?! If so I'd love to try haha
Have a grate day!
this is so helpful thanks!!
You're welcome Catherine! Glad it helped!
I wish i could get an Emotional support dog, ive had depression, anxiety, and a bit of schizophrenia my whole life and I'd love to have a dog that can comfort me
talk to your doctor there are psychiatric service animals and you may be worthy of one
@@julieeverett7442 how should I go about it. This past year has been difficult and Ive been in a very low place recently
Love this video, Mai!! Super informative and sweet!!
Tori Brakey idk about an ESA but for ptsd I think you need a service dog?
I am 54 and suffer from severe depression, anxiety, insomnia and Agorophobia.....this would so help me I'm so lonely
Get a dog if you can it would help you in so many ways, You would have a friend by your side day and night, and they are a great source of comfort to you. If you can walk the dog everyday it would do you both a world of good. A good walk is
one of the best things for depression. Good luck to you
Thank youuu, been looking forward to this topic from you :)
Are ESA’s a thing only in the USA? I live in Europe and I’m just wondering if it would be possible with my puppy
I was wondering that, too. From what I've googled it seems to be an North American thing, sadly. Apparently not all European airlines etc. acknowledge ESAs. I've also got the impression that it's significantly harder to get one here than overseas.
NO!!!
Nadina L in the USA it’s a whole lot easier to get a esa but I’m pretty sure you can get one in Europe but it will be a lot harder

My black mamba, when she is lying in my enemy's bed, is my "emotion support animal" ... ;-)
Hi! Will you please talk about how you have 2 esa's at once? Do you need two separate letters?
Whelp I'll talk to my theripest any thing u particularly need to say (btw my animals make me calmer)
Hi so I have a huge depression, anxiety and ptsd (post traumatic stress disorder) and I really want and need an ESA because I have most of my anxiety attacks in school but my therapist hasn’t talked to me about one. What should I do?
talk to your doctor
Service dogs are task trained to your disability and can help alert you when you’re about to have an episode of some sort, Hope this helps!
talk to your doctor, you may be able to
I have an emotional pet his name is Maynard and he's a cat he's a bangle I've had him since he was too tiny and I have severe anxiety and sometimes trouble breathing and ever since I got him he'll sit on my chest and you will purr and breathe until my heart rate goes back to where it should and I am breathing the way I should anytime I don't feel well he knows before I do and he is now 8 years old so anybody says a cat cannot be an emotional pet they're crazy actually I find him very soothing and very comforting I also have a dog as well and they get along great so that's also for an emotional companion for both me and the cat and the exercise so emotional cats work too you know
So I have a question for an apartment if you signed a contract whatever it is will it be okay ? Even if it’s emotional support dog?
*i need one I am 8 (ingrade 4 btw) and I need a dog because I have uncontrollable emotions, but my mom says I am fine......*
* I always pray I could get one because it just calms me down.....*
LPS Blossom hi I am in 6 grade I am not doubting you though your mom might be right but I don’t know you so I can’t be sure I think you should talk to your doctor or therapist if you have one to see if you do qualify for one good luck
How are you able to have two support dogs travel with you?
Thank you for clearing up some misconceptions I had about where you took your girls! Also I heard that any type of online registration is fake?
If your Dr. tells you to go online to get a form, what do you do?
Mike Rogers Your physicist has to write a letter for you.
Mike Rogers get a new doctor who knows what they are doing....
@@mikerogers331 Tell them that that isn't legal and there is no form/registrations for service animal and that your doctor must write a letter for you.
You are correct. They are fake.
How can I get one for both me and son? Both us have seizures and always alone
I got my ESA today!♥️
You got your fake ESA today.
Oldbatwit what makes you think that?
Can you get a ESA if you have stress, because I call my dog a ESA because I'm super sensitive and I have stress?
Yep, if you have any mental diesese including. Depression, Anxiety, Anorexia, stress, PTSD, ADD, and ADHD. So if you have any of those Then you can get one. I'm planning on getting a dog and registered it to be a ESA.
if it works for you that way, then it is, but if you are having constant stress you may want to talk to someone about what is causing it and was of releiving or reducing it
Does this work across countries? I live in France but my family lives in the US. I want my cavalier to be recognized in both countries.
so i've already been professionally diagnosed with general/social anxiety and depression, and though i'm only 14, can i get an emotional support animal?
i have social anxiety and persistent depression along with other mental disorders and i've been thinking of getting a esd for a while. though it might be a while until i get one.
I don't have an ESA but I'm super scared of flying. Whenever I fly, before we take off, I always cry like crazy because I'm really scared of dying.
For panic attacks (quite severe ones) would a esa or service dog be in need
I am so sorry to hear that. My heart and prayers go out to you
But why did you leave her in a kennel?
@@CALI-ll7iv they probably dropped off the dog to a daycare kennel
Can you get an emotional support dog for ptsd that wasnt caused by being in combat-?
It's a doctor that can evaluate your needs :)

Do the therapists/ psychiatrist help you find an animal or do you have to find one on your own?
Sounds amazing! Love you guys!

I have anxiety and depression plus OCD. Could i get an emotional support dog? My mom said she would talk about it with my dad
I want to get an esa dog but im not sure. I have depression and so far therapy and medication isn’t working. I might ask my therapist what she thinks
Would esa’s help someone with OCD?
Karlie Peterson yea I believe so. If you have severe OCD it would go along the lines of stress etc. Because I can only imagine how stressful that disorder is. So a ESA would really help
can professional counselors give u the note for them? or is it only therapists? confused please help
Is there an ESA form that the doctor/psychiatrists fills out or do they just type one up and then sign it? Thanks
Herky reminds me of my 1st Cavalier girl.
Great video, thank you!!!
