Who Is The Comedian That Jerry Seinfeld Really REALLY Dislikes? - "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee"
Вставка
- Опубліковано 29 вер 2024
- Jerry Seinfeld tells Bridget Everett that he can't stand one particular comedian. The show censored out the name, but lip-readers and general consensus appears to believe it’s Bobcat Goldthwait. He really REALLY doesn't like this guy...

This is the only time I've seen real emotion from Seinfeld.
Then you haven't been paying attention.
Jerry is often disdainful in his passion against something, but never before about another comedian.

Jerry hates Bobcat. I'm guessing Bobcat said something funny but true about Jerry.
Must be more than that because a lot of people have kind of said similar things (When Jerry was dating Shoshona, who was only 17, Howard Stern joked that he went to Central Park and tossed out a cookie on a string when young pretty girls would walk by).
Well i fixxnking luv Bobcat! He and Robin were bestires
@C. S. Hey, you have a right to your opinion. I think he's great. As for the Jerry and Larry combo, the teaming of the two made it magical. Without Jerry Larry would be pissing and moaning over how broke he is.
@C. S. I think generally he's a pretty rude person from what I've seen. Definitely not the funniest. And i adore Bobcat Golthwait 😘
@C. S. obviously you’ve never seen Paulie Shore….

I don’t disagree but I don’t think the movie is funny because of anything BG is doing onscreen.
Bobcat is funnier than Seinfeld.
If anyone watching this can legitimately claim they don't ALSO have somebody (contemporary, co-worker, competitor, colleague etc.) that they just "hate" because that person is NOT all that he appears or what he purports, then let them judge freely, otherwise don't be a moroon and pretend Jerry has no right to "hate".
I love Seinfeld but if you called him smug I wouldn't come to his defense
he can be smug. just like Jordan.
He can be smug, like Charlotte flair
At least he’s not “a phony”.
I got a million of ‘em, folks😁
Hear hear
Along with what he said with Bill Maher on this show, it’s the comedy team of Smug and Arrogant!
The real reason that he despises Bobcat is because Bobcat publicly called Jerry out for dating a 17-year-old girl when he was 39 years old in 1993.
bobcat isn't a good comedian. I showed my daughter his performance and contrasted it with Steven Wright... she acknowledged that when the audience laughed... they laughed at the energy... but not at a joke. No set up... premise... punchline... nothing... just squeaks and garbles. As for the dating... different states have different rules... it always seemed arbitrary that you can be with someone who is 17 and 364 days and it is a crime... but wait 10 minutes... and bam... open for business... There may be a line... but I'm not the one to make a judgement call on that...
@@jdramirez77How many days do you personally draw the line? 730 days seem arbitrary to you? How about 1,095 days?
@@ransom6892 i was having a conversation with a visions agent regarding drinking age and i made a similar point... Just because you are 21 does not mean you are responsible enough to embibe alcohol... Three are 30+ year old who are not... So I'm sure there is an answer, but fuck if i know what it is.
Then he got himself a 19 year old when he was 35
Bobcat was 35 years old and married when he proposed to 18 year old Nikki Cox, whom he had been working with since she was 15. Bobcat is a hypocrite and even more of a perv than Seinfeld.
I love Bobcat's response of, "Congrats on making a career out of being Larry David's friend."
It's so good because Jerry in this video is total projection too lol
Jerry knows he's not funny, NBC approached him in 89 for the show because sitcoms in the 80s were cookie-cutter, touchy-feely, cookbook/boring shit so NBC thought 'here's a clean comic, middle-of-the-road guy, we'll put him on because he's boring and safe for a Wednesday night' and he of course knew he wasn't funny so he asked Larry David to run the show for him. Look at the last two seasons without Larry, it's like the show is a parody of itself, Seinfeld couldn't hack it without him so he quit.
I love Bobcat calling out his newer show "Millionaire comedians bitching about their diamond shoes in cars that no one can afford." lol
@Ja Woo exactly! And at the end of the day, only hack comedians call out other comedians for not being funny. The worst compliment you could give a comedian you don't like is, "I hope they find success." When you attack, you make yourself look weak, and that's comedy fuel. Jerry would know that if he hadn't relegated himself to, "What's the deal with tortilla chips? Is it a tortilla or a chip?"
Time is a funny thing
Now that I'm older I look at Jerry as Larry's pet with the nice smile
Bobcat is responsible for World's Greatest Dad & had a hand in Big City Heat so not prolific but his career beats Jerry's in terms of clout. This makes me laugh at Jerry not with him

The worst part of any Seinfeld episode is when Jerry is doing stand up.
Or saying words that aren't Newman's name.
I was at ground zero of the Boston comedy explosion in the 1980's: Steven Wright, Colin Quinn, Lenny Clarke, Denis Leary, Emo Phillips, and Bobcat - among others. Bobcat actually had it, despite what Jerry says. I think drugs fried his brain at some point. I think this is about Bobcat going after Jerry during the Shoshana Lonstein stuff (she was barely 17, he was almost 40).
And Bobcat did the exact same thing with Nikki Cox so he should definitely have just kept his mouth shut.
This is 💯 percent why, he made an off handed joke on one of the late night shows, bobcat did a similar thing but Nikki cox was 19 not 17, irregardless, bobcat made a joke not a judgement, and Seinfeld had never let it go, despite him dating a 17 year old deep into his 30s, thin skin

I believe this is because Bobcat called him out when Jerry was dating a 17 year old. It amazes me that the dude was dating a 17 year old at like 38 and got no backslash for it.
Although it’s not right for Seinfeld to have done that, when I read that Goldthwait is “the guy who told Arsenio Hall in 1994 that Seinfeld is ‘the devil’ and a ‘spooky, weird Scientologist guy banging teenage girls’”, and in the same appearance spray-painted “Paramount Sucks” on Arsenio’s set, it seems like Bobcat is a comedian who tries to stay relevant by starting feuds with more successful people. I think disrespecting someone publicly (Jerry, Paramount, probably more I don’t know about) to advance one’s own career is probably more detestable than Jerry dating a 17 year-old, and probably why Jerry didn’t face any backlash

Articles seeking to encourage scandal tend to gloss over this distinction by saying things like "Lonstein was 17 when they struck up a relationship," because legally, as far as defamation is concerned, even mere acquaintance is a relationship. I thought he was talking about Gilbert at first but other than "the voice" thing, that wouldn't have made sense. GG's funnier than him, to me, anyway...
Was never a huge Seinfeld standup fan but his in person humor is exactly my thing
Same here. Never was a fan of the show either. Didnt hate it just never needed to watch it except back when my antenna had 2 channels and his show was on late night.
But watching his netflix stuff has had me laughing at ppl i dont even know about. Like this episode.
I'm not a fan of his comedies or stand-up but same as you, his 'normal' life humour is brilliant. Would very, very highly recommend Comedian In Cars Getting Coffee. It might just be my favourite series of all time.
I feel the same.
Would have liked seeing Sam Kinison or Bill Hicks on that.
Its that disdain of people that I love and share lol
It's Bobcat Goldthwait, everybody.
All Bobcat Gothwait can say, in that voice he does, is "Hi. Um..."
You nailed his impression in two words! (Love Gothwait.)
I hope he's talking about Bobcat, cuz he's exactly right if he is.
That's exactly who he was talking about.
Bobcat has essentially admitted to Jerry's main point, in that he came up with the squeaky voice bit because he was terrified on stage. His entire act was basically about his delivery - his material isn't very strong without the squeak.
I love "Savage Seinfeld".
I was thinking Gilbert Gottfried. Just all around annoying character. No comedy whatsoever. Sorry not sorry.
Jerry Seinfeld hates Goldthwait more than Jon Lovitz hates Andy Dick and keep in mind that Jon Lovitz holds Andy Dick partly responsible for the death of Phil Hartman.
Just look at Andy Dick now. 😂
I love how he's talking to her as if SHE is Bobcat Goldthwait.
I just feel bad for her. Even when she shows complete discomfort, he keeps going
I thought he talking about Gilbert.

@@brianboughton861 That makes the most sense. I never liked ADC even at his peak.
@@brianboughton861 dice doesn’t have a put on voice, so it can’t be him.
The thing I respect about jerry Seinfeld is that he is a comedian with multiple acts for the road. He thinks of what is the best act for the crowd and does it. I’ve seen him 3 times. Once at a theater in Tampa. That was a mistake, mostly old folks, so his act was super corny. Went home to SF and he had a completely different set for outside lands festival. Mostly youngsters there so he switched it up to real life and cursing. Then once I saw him and Chris rock at Caroline’s in NYC with Chris Rock going on right before him at about 2am. He cursed, told dirty jokes, and totally went balls to the wall. He doesn’t do all clean and corny stuff like every Seinfeld episode. As a fan I respect it but hate it at the same time. The corny act kind of pissed me off but his realer acts were hilarious. With his ticket prices so high, I don’t want to pay for something that I might hate. But I feel like he has 3 or 4 different hours that he rotates all the time. This is a surprise to people that he’d go in as hard as he did with bobcat, but jerry does go hard in the paint sometimes, he’s just not marketed very much for doing so. Has the reputation as a clean comic but he’s not that way all the time.
It's not all that surprising though. If you watch enough interviews with Jerry, you learn just how little tolerance he has for what he doesn't like. He's almost always pretty honest and open, and seemingly has no fear of what people will think of him. And I don't think anyone will ever fault him for saying what he says. They may not agree with him and they may think that some things are in bad taste, but I don't think I've seen anyone write or heard anyone say that he shouldn't have said that thing or should have bit his tongue. He seems to be one of the few comedians that people accept being open and honest.
Jerrys a comedy genius. There should be no doubts about it. Its as simple as that. He was a shameless self promoter in his 80s interview days , plus more than any other stand up he lived his material and toured it 300 dates a year all over, the result being detractors watch these interviews which happen in isolation spread over 10 years and watch them on after another and think he is a hack. Plus they dont just plain dont like him. And then Larry David is another reason to nack them up that JS is a TOTAL FRAUD. The dissonance has led to multiple serial internet hate.
You copied this exact story
That sounds like Jerry Seinfeld, multiple acts and trying to be whoever the crowd wants. He was always a guy that cared a lot about what the audience thinks, and didn't necessarily care that much about his identity, or "being true to yourself." Very crafted, polished .. designed.
@@mugsgame_1526 yeah, it's Anthony Jeselnik's story about Seinfeld's multiple acts
He's correct. Goldthwait is one of those "I'm so cool and anti-establishment" dudes. Meanwhile, he was in stupid-ass "Police Academy" movies.
Bobcat Goldthwaite? I like him, actually. I like him better than Jerry Seinfeld. In fact, I don't particularly like Jerry Seinfeld as a standup. His show was funny because Larry David wrote it. Larry David made him funny, and he wasn't even the funniest person on his own show.
Jerry Seinfeld made a career out of over-exaggerating even the slightest attempt at observational comedy to the point of absolute deadpan, and his bit stopped being funny well before he was given an extremely "whites only" prime-time sitcom, and the only thing that keeps him employed today is how many white people still idolize the white-centric stance he still takes in all of his observations he then passes off as comedy.
Bobcat had a schtick that didn't require the minimalist brunt to his jokes to be rated in the classism, or racism that Jerry STILL leans on.
Jerry Seinfeld should have been shunned by the comedic world WAY before Pauley Shore.
Larry David was the Woz to Seinfeld’s Steve Jobs.
@@enigmajadethorne5501 Its true Bobcat's voice is a schtick, but I've heard him using it only minimally, and his jokes were funny. Is Jerry really even a comedian anymore? Isn't he basically retired?
Ok, bobcat.
@@Ajm2894 Sure. okay. We'll go with that. As good as Seinfeld is, his ego is out of control and he comes across as a narcissist.
Fine with me if he’s funny. And that’s the point. He’s a comedian. Make us laugh. Everything else is tertiary.
He's talking about one person in particular and it's because that person made it personal.
Seinfeld has the street cred to talk smack about any other comedian. Full stop.
Oh, he’s not allowed to have an opinion on another person’s work without being a narcissist? He has to love every comic? I call BS.

For anyone who's wondering, it was Bobcat Goldthwait.
And bobcat was right, he called jerry a wierd pedo who only got big from the sitcom

Probably...
Hahaha this mode of Seinfeld is by far my favorite. I wish he would do a stand up special with this disposition, it would be the greatest thing ever.
Totally agree. Just once. He's more angry than most comedians in history, but he never goes blue. Weird.
Funny enough, Bob Cat was my 1rst guess and Clay was my 2nd. Never cared for either of them.
If this is your favorite version of Jerry, it seems the best way to conjure it is to bring up the time he was dating a child. Jerry’s disgust toward Bobcat has nothing to do with his comedy, it’s all about Bobcat having the audacity to call King Jerry out for preying on a minor. Regardless of what anybody thinks about Bobcat’s brand of comedy, the guy was right.

Bobcat's a little b-tch. You can tell because of how many feuds he has-for instance, Kinison called him out for what he was back in the day and Bobcat is still whining and butthurt over it, lol. He just runs his mouth about everybody else without any real chops to back it up.
I have never heard any other comic say a single nice thing about him, which goes to show how much respect other comedians have for him.

Of course Seinfeld doesn't like Goldthwait, he's funny.
Throughout his "Comedians in cars getting coffee" run, it became apparently clear that Seinfeld reached that apex where he just does not give an F.

Oh… I was kinda expecting the answer to be himself. For obvious reasons.
Gotta be honest. I never thought Jerry Seinfeld was that funny. Not that i have anything against him. It's great he's made such a great life for himself. But i never was that amused by his stand-up, and as far as his sit-com went, he was probably the least amusing character. But that's just my opinion, and we all know what people say about opinions.
Same!
I wish Jerry wouldn't be so shy about his feelings.
You just can't tell how he really feels about the guy.
And how do you NOT like a guy who was best friends with Robin Williams?
You mean David Liebe Hart?
Robin Williams was not funny either. He was manic on stage and depressive in life, but was a great actor.
@@isabellegiorgis2975 STFU Robin was hilarious. What a dumb opinion to have. You can say YOU didn't think he was funny, but millions of people against a handful of people demonstrably shows that he was VERY funny.
@@Gloth_Sang Just because he expressed a thought that someone else expressed doesn't make him a joke thief. Jerry, Regan, Gaffigan, and Papa, for example, have large swaths of material that dance in the same vein, even certain observations, delivered in their own way. Robin never said anyone else's material verbatim, and certainly didn't do so on purpose. In fact he rarely delivered any material the same night to night. And in the event where he did see that the resemblance was too close, he ALWAYS paid the comedian money for doing so. So STFU about Robin being a joke "thief." He was a brilliant improv stand up comic who used that quickness to be an amazing actor, too.
yeah people always spout this nonsense about Robin Williams. The way his act was he didn’t even really need “jokes”. People talk about him being a joke thief yet he had one of the most original acts out there. It’s ridiculous. He was also very funny but that’s a matter of opinion
As for Bobcat Goldthwait, I thought he was funny and to say he “didn’t go anywhere” is being really elitist. He did better than 95% of the comics out there. what does a person have to do in order to make it in your book, Jerry? Does he have to have one of the greatest TV shows of all time? I guess Bobcat threw some verbal punches at Jerry and he took offense to that (which i don’t blame him) But this lady is a guest on your show and you immediately jump all over her friend and embarrass her just because you don’t like the guy?
