    oil filter K&N KN303 for ninja 300.
    oil filter removal tool for old filter currently on the ninja 300.
    socket of 17mm to remove oil pan bolt and to tighten oil filter.

    The bike takes 2.2L with the filter on and the bike standing uprite with the engine off. (Reference the service manual)

      @@Jrod_4KIt should be up to the top line with the engine off and the bike upright. Remember, it's always better to under fill a little than to over fill a little.

    Take the oil cap off, leave the bolt out, and remove the oil filter. It allows the oil to flow without suction or pressure

    My guess is you have added to much oil. The oil should be just below the top of the sight glass when the bike is not running and sitting straight up, not leaning.

      Halfway up the sight glass is my rule of thumb. Start it up and let it run for until warm. Check. Add. Done.

      when oil-filter is not remove/change, refill 2-liters only
      change oil-filter fill only 2.2-liters
      engine overhaul/completely dry fill only 2.4-liters
      above 2.4-liters is not good.

    Tap on the wrench to break the bolt free, instead of pushing it and breaking your knuckles. I was all scarred up before I figured that one out. So just some friendly advice.
    Also, adding an extension to clear hitting anything with your hand when you have to lever something off will save you from getting hurt.
    I like the aluminum foil idea. Could have uses in other areas as well.

    • @daveeeeee89
      @daveeeeee89 8 років тому

      Tapping on the wrench isn't the best idea, you can lose stability on the head and round / churn the edges of the head. Instead just push with a flat hand instead of wrapping your hand around the wrench. You'll just slap things instead of wrecking your knuckles :)

    • @tooljst8
      @tooljst8 8 років тому

      I suggested that with the idea that you would hold steady pressure so it doesn't slip with one hand and tap with the other, using both hands in conjunction. I know sometimes this isn't an option but it works in practice. Tapping can generate enough sheering force to break it free, but if it lets go while pulling hard you can hurt yourself. Do what you will, my suggestion is just that, a suggestion.

    Why stick your finger in dirty, cancer causing oil when you could have poured some fresh oil into the filter to prime it. That way when you start the engine, there already oil in the filter vs the way you did it with a dry filter.
    The engine will run a extra couple of seconds running with no oil till that empty filter is filled with oil and then it gets circulated to protect that engine.

You have to flip your bike up side down in order to get the existing oil out. You don't need anything special to flip it. Just flip it and lay it out on the handle bars. YOU ARE WELCOME!
