The good folks over at Pro-Mark and D'Addario were kind enough to give us a tour of their factory so we could learn exactly what goes into making the perfect drumstick. You'll see the processes for cutting, grading, sorting, drying, grinding, finishing, inspecting, and pitch matching (yeah... There are a lot of steps).
From tree trunk to drumstick, all the steps in between can be found right here.
Dig this video? Drumeo On The Road is a brand new segment we started doing over in the Drumeo members area:

Shout out to the lady that manually checks the sticks for us. 35 years is a long time to support a huge number of drummers.
Tony Lancer yea we should know her name! Very important lady!
So that was 1983
I second that.
@@yungggiraffe The guy who calls her "she" was probably not even born then...
@@ronaldent5781 Maybe she didnt want her name in the video. It's called privacy! Some people enjoy their privacy.
I really wanted to hear from that amazing lady who checks all the sticks! 35 years! You should have interviewed her. I'm sure she's worth her weight in gold to the company over all those years.
whats amazing if doing that mind numbing job 40 hours a week for 35 years!
"She?"
She doesn't have a name? 35 years deserves first name recognition on a job she does so well.
Michael Kay they may have said her name in that segment many times but it got edited out 🤷🏻♂️
I agree
My wife hates ladies being called SHE, That's the cats mother is her quote!
She ought to have a special model named after her!
Let me guess your going to cry racism because they said she..LMAO good luck ..ill bet She didn't want her name used
Big up for all the workers in this factory, theyre fundamental for all the drummers!!
Every drummer should plant a tree 🌲
swati acharya not every drummer. Everyone around the globe 😉
every virtue signaler should hang them self from a tree.
I have, several.
yes it is good for us and also for earth
Suggestion : use V-drums and be careful not to trash your sticks.
I've had sticks for YEARS. My faves are maple pipe band and Firth quit making them. Highlander HS1
0:42 “This is a big pile of logs” *epic music insues*
1:53 Jenga: Master Edition
Interesting stacking method. Stick ends TOUCHING the stick that is next to it.
Can I have all the rejected sticks?
I'd love to know what happens to the rejected sticks ... (because I'd like to have them too).
Slim -- Thanks --- I've never *seen* them ... but I'll certainly go *look* for them. [ - I presume that they *don't* have the Pro-Mark stamp ?]
I'd like the "tiger striped" sticks shes throwing away.
Oh they send those to Ahead to label
My brother got rejected sticks, he said they suck
I want to know the name of the woman who has probably been there long enough to see a few different department heads roll through. 35 years inspecting drumsticks!
Maybe she doesnt want you to know her name. It's called privacy and she is entitled to it whether you like it or not.

every product by promark has been checked by someone's grandma, thats so god damn cool.
Currently using those active grip sticks they are amazing.
Pitch match of the sticks are real.
Got an old pair of "420 MikePortnoy Signature" sticks with the Majesty logo that I inherited from the friend that taught me drums. He has passed away since and its very nice to have these to remember him.
I appreciate what pro-mark does.
My first sticks were pro mark if i remember, so they must have come from there and been checked by that lady
Thank you Drumeo for these kind of videos, the one at D’Addario was really cool too!
man after working for vic firth i appreciate the process of making things alot more and appreciate each part of it.
God bless Drumeo and crew for the great works.
I'm blessed right here!
Wow ! So cool to see a little interview with partners !
Lucas Mendonça they are his parent's
Awesomeness... love these kinds of behind the scenes of the stuff i use...👍👍shoutout to the workers!!🙌🙌
I don't know why, but the intro was very inspiring for me)

Dominic- If that's the case (that it's a paid-for video), they need to disclose that and there's a message that will show up on the video.
It's actually a pretty clear requirement to disclose that information for paid videos. It's entirely possible (and quite likely) that this was not a paid agreement but rather part of a general partnership.
Here's the set rules: support.google.com/youtube/answer/154235?hl=en
I/we never got paid by D'addario or Pro-Mark for this video other than a small portion of travel costs covered. Was not a paid video at all and actually my idea to go and film there. It never was requested by ProMark, they accommodated myself and my crew. - Jared Falk
So cool!!!! I never knew how much work actually went into making a drumstick!!!!!
Loving this series!

Beautiful! Thank you :)
I love this!
Amo essas baquetas, obrigado Dromeo 🙌😍👋🙄
Very nice video, thanx drumeo
I'm a fan of Promark sticks. Ergo, I'm a fan of that wonderful lady who checks them all. She'll have been there 37 years by now, meaning she's been there since I was 10. Fuuuck.
Cool! I just bought a pair of those grip sticks and really like them. Had no idea the wood came from just down the road from me too!
Awesome Jared.
The drum solo excerpts that you play at 0:17-0:38 and at 4:47-6:21 , isn't that Todd Sucherman's drum solo he played in the Drumeo video? If so, it is well picked because he plays Pro-mark sticks (SD330W), and he is an amazing drummer.
shiva umesh Travis barker is better

Very cool upload!
Excellent!

Great content
Yeah, all of this quality checking and all of my ProMarks blew up on the ride's bell. 10/10. Thanks.
There will always be duds, no matter how high the bar is set for testing
5:15 that's todd sucherman's beautiful drum solo playing in the background; excellent soundtrack choice.
So cool!
Wow great to see the hero Of drumeo in this video.

@@dxb8086 that's your opinion
Intro was 🔥
Nuts to think I've possibly played with one of those logs down the line 🤘
I had those black, cool sticks!
❤D' Addario string and sticks
I really want those
I have been to vicfirth factory. There is a lot that goes into making sticks. A lot of which they don’t show you. Vf has a lot of extra steps. Pretty interesting stuff.
"Shrunkwrapped?!?"
Oh, the pain...the pain.
I like this
That’s some nice Jengga.
Good folks at Drumeo
Cool
Showoff love drumming
Wow!
whoa! That's how drumstick made with band logos or stick drum company logos like zildjian and other sticks. now Ik how drumsticks made. I started playing drums since 2013.
I like the word above the door "Music start here"

Next video: How Lars Ulrich uses drum sticks
And still to this day we all ponder this question 😂😆
thx
Nice Sucherman's part here
Just bought myself a pair about 30 mins ago, and this appeared in my recommendation hahah
No one is going to realise that the background music in the end is Todd's drum solo. The drummer for Styx.
On a recent pair of nylon sticks i had, the nylon fell from one, and broke for the other.
The one with broken nylon dent my patch. :’(
Playing pro-mark for more reasons than I thought
yeah!
“These are some logs..” *music intensifies*
I'm a Pro-Mark 5B guy -- I could (easily !) have watched a 2+ hour programme on how the drumsticks are made.
Do a "how sausages are made!"
you wanna stop eating them?
Ogrgels Lair wow edgy,I'm hurt.
Bromoteknada do a how kids are made
Nicolas Gomez-Trenor ok then, can I please borrow your mom?
Bromoteknada it’s the exact same as this but with meat
Check out that Astros lid....GO STROS!!!
How to spot the drummer: he has no idea how to hold a microphone 😜
HAHAHA
How to spot the singer: he has no concept of rhythm and the drummer has to prompt him when he muffs lyrics.
Really? Because i find it's always the vocalist cupping the mic and mmake to stage rig feedback...
1:55 jenga 😂
I have been playing Pro Mark wood tip Japaneses Oak 747's since the 1980's... Nuff said

As a drummer and a hobby craftsman with a lathe, the doweler would have been one of the most interesting parts of the process to see. Any reason that portion was skipped entirely?
Proprietary reasons. They‘re not going to give away their secrets.
