As intermediate drummer, my set is filled with evans 360 heads. Very nice to see this product made in the USA, over made in China. I never tought it was this complicated for items that give me so much simple pleasure. This visit is highly appreciated and very welcome in term of seing the faces of the people that are helping me built some fun time. Music is great, thanks in part to evans, and of course Drumeo. Thanks for this report.
This is pretty cool. I actually just went to the Remo factory last week and took a tour there. Interesting to see some of the differences they have in making their heads.
I recycle heads by using them for o-rings and other dampening solutions when recording. I've cut out a 14" head and used it to muffle a 12" drum, for example. I also used spray adhesive and placed a padding over my kick drum head once, using a dot I cut out of a 12" head.
Drew Kane That’s a good idea. I make 4” impact patches for my bass drums and adhere them using three small pieces of clear packing tape. But some 3M spray adhesive would work well in that application I would think.
i've been using Evan drum heads for 15 years now. The EC2 SST are particularly good for the sound that I want. Then, for my bass drum I use the EQ3. I have yet to destroy any of the heads. One point I was using the same the same heads for three years, and they still sounded really good. Probably will be staying with this configuration for the rest of my life.
This was awesome! I'd love to have heard and seen what the original shop was like when D'Addario took over in 1995. I was using the original Evans heads from 1991 - 1995 basically the entire span of high school. I was the only drummer in the area using Evans on my drums, and I was obsessed with tuning - they always sounded fantastic. I've been getting together with my old band from those days and I'm getting the itch to "get the old gang back together" with a set of Evans heads. This time around I want to use the EC2 over Resonant clear. I used to use the Rock Glass over that same Resonant and I LOVED them. The EC2 was the head style I always wanted them to make back then.
Very interesting vid. Remo and Acquarian are cool....but I have had the most success with Evans. First Evans head I ever got was an EQ3 22 inch Kick Batter. Was blown away. Now I am into snare and Tom batters....and love all the choices. Evans also fits my Vintage drums with ease. I'm pretty sure I'm an Evans guy!
How cool is that. I love watching videos how things are made, I always loved it because you also learn by seeing things. It's awesome informational, thank you so much for sharing .....let them videos keep coming 👍🙋♀️
nice video..... interested to learn more about the film material used to create the drum material...is it made at the warehouse or does another company make the film and sell the product to the warehouse.... in any case thx for making the video, it was fun and informative to wacth...
megadrummer3 DuPont is the most likely. Evans....not so sure. Many drum shop owners in the know say it comes from China. But presently they might use the DuPont film for certain drum heads since they have such a wide array of models.
Some film though possibly manufactured by the same supplier, are proprietary formulas. From what I understand, Remo and Aquarian utilize films exclusive to themselves, and are not sold to competing drum head makers. For instance, Evans can't go to DuPont and order rolls of Mylar exclusive to Remo or Aquarian, and vice versa.
I've read that Evans gets theirs from india, Remo from china and aqurian gets theres from usa. i cant see it being good for business to buy name brand mylar anymore. they probably all have a slightly different formulation
6:29 Lol that part was great "It's ready to go right out of the box you don't need to add extra dampening" jareds like yeah...ive used them, no extra dampening needed.....sure.
Cool to see the process. I play G2 clear as my preferred Tom heads, Emad floor tom and Either Emad or EQ3 on the kick with HD dry on my wooden snares or power center
I love Evans heads... i use the EC2 batters and EC reso's for toms... the bass i use EMAD2 and a black reso bass head. I use to play remo... and i still use remo on my snares but for bass and toms... nothing but Evans as i think they are the best. If i find a good Evans snare batter/reso combo that gives me the deep sound (like the evans hybrid with a evans 500 reso) id go for those.. but the hybrid is very expensive considering ive got 9 drums that use evans and a snare that uses remo. Thats the sad thing about adding toms or another bass drum. The more drums you have... the more tuning you have to do. The money spent on drum heads can get expensive. Although im not Travis Barker and dont beat my drums like a red headed step child. I love his style of playing but without the help of his sound engineers i think his set (aside from cymbals) would sound choked as he smashes the hell out of them. Theres no reason to have blood on your drum heads or keep putting sticks through the head. When i heard they change heads every day... and sometimes cymbals too. I thought to myself "what the hell is he doing to that poor drum set." Luckily dude has a small kit. Couldnt imagine what Terry Bozio pays to replace his kits drum heads lol
Andrew D. Royappa No thanks. I am not a fan of Zildjian. I know how are cymbals made and Paiste has different techniques than other companies. They are the only company who knows how to build quality and great sounding cymbal from a B8 alloy.
Dumeo - the title should be 'D'addario Factory Tour - How Drum skins are made' Evans are legit the shit. Love their skins and all the stuff they do for guitarists as well.
Evans' 360 technogy is great for studio but almost every drum head I bought from Evans had a little dent in the edge (my 16" Floor Tom and 12" Tom head for example). My first 14" G2 tom head had glue between the two plys. This never happened to me with remo. Maybe dent comes from the Level 360 because it has an edge but maybe not. Because of experiences like this I'm a remo player. Never had a problem with their heads
played remos and always wondered why drums needed dampening and Remo "O"s; then i tried Evans, and yeah, game-changer. never needed dampening ever again and the same drums sounded ten times bigger and punchier.
Some serious nostalgia watching this! Was a blast to be a part of it all. Great job capturing the walkthrough.

Man that is so cool! Glad to be a part of their family. Thanks for taking the time to do this for us Jared.
Such an incredible insight - thank you, Drumeo. Feeling very proud to endorse such a fantastic company!
I could watch this stuff all day. Extremely well put together guys seriously respect to everyone involved 👊
This is pretty cool. I actually just went to the Remo factory last week and took a tour there. Interesting to see some of the differences they have in making their heads.
I use Remo (USA only) or vintage Premier heads. I definitely appreciate the way these guys do things and was very fascinated
That is so fascinating it makes me love my profession the fact others want us to love what we do making. What we love
Awesome video here! I love Evans and D’Addario !
Love this. I've been an Evan's guy since 2002, and will continue to do so.
More like this please!
Wow, never thought that there are so many steps that are done by hand! This is crazy!
I use Evans level 360 ec2 heads and love the sound I get with them on my DW collectors series kit
Will there come a day when we can recycle old heads?
I recycle heads by using them for o-rings and other dampening solutions when recording. I've cut out a 14" head and used it to muffle a 12" drum, for example. I also used spray adhesive and placed a padding over my kick drum head once, using a dot I cut out of a 12" head.

I hope so.
i just put them in my recycling bin, separate the metal & plastic by cutting the head off and then putting them in the right bins :)
there is. If the hoop is aluminum, and the skin is clear then you can shove it straight in a recycling bin
Great video. Looking forward to future installments.
Very cool
Just about to pickup some EC2 Clear heads for my drums. Very interesting video!

Yes! I use the EQ3 for my bass drum too, both batter and reso. Such a great drum head with a powerful hit.
That was very interesting to watch and I'm wondering why I've never even thought about how they're made.
Really missed a chance to call the series "Road-eo" :) ...Also, let's get Nick DV from Sweetwater to do an episode!
Nick is booked on Drumeo and I'm guessing I'll make my way to Sweetwater sometime, they are a great company.
Love Evans , Love Sweetwater.
@@DrumeoOfficial Hey Jared, I've always wondered...Is 'breaking the glue' a real necessary thing to do with drumheads? Did you get to ask them that?
The process of printing on the EC2's rings.... Geeking out hard there.
Really enjoyed this video...thanks jared for this
Evans drum heads are amazing!! Thank you for sharing this video
YES!!!! REMO IS GAY!!!!!!1!!!!
@@Stardust_Lei978 Remo is gay? Fuck yeah imma buy some remos now

Amazing Video ❤️ I love Evans 🥁🇨🇱

Great video! the preview slide on my subs looked like you guys were sliding around on one foot.
Fascinating...
I love the dry genera heads on both my brass and maple free floating piccolo's with a 300g resonant head .Totally Phat.

How does the drum head operator pick them up? Looks like static, 2:26
Suction cup
Great job, Sergio!
Kryptönïtë, Why is that?
Very nice very nice !.
Thanks and good luck, I prefer and use remo drum heads.

Drumeos youtube game is on point! Great video! 👍🏼
That was really cool.
Best drumheads on the planet!! I get mine from Dave’s Drum Shop in Ottawa, ON Can. Excellent service, great prices!! :)

Awesome! When any bass drum pedal factory?
Amazing Factory Tour! 🎶⚪🏭🥁🎶
Great! Next stop Paiste Switzerland😂 🤘
Actually, yes, I will be there in May.
Drumeo I can't believe I hit 😀
If you're wondering in general how cymbals are made, there's a great Zildjian factory tour: ua-cam.com/video/PXOEIHfwEZI/v-deo.html
Andrew D. Royappa No thanks. I am not a fan of Zildjian. I know how are cymbals made and Paiste has different techniques than other companies. They are the only company who knows how to build quality and great sounding cymbal from a B8 alloy.
2:30 that girl in the back REALLY enjoys her job...
Joost Brugmans 😂😂😂 I used to
Super awesome stuff!!! What theme songs have you used in this video? Especially iall the first sound track :)
Love Evans drum heads👍🏻
Oh this is great!!!!
Track list please? Especially the one starting around 3:47.
thank you
This was great! Moar!
Those workers look in loooooove with their job
Coming to India any time soon.... Jared?

Awesome!!
Omg I was still working there! 😂😂
lol i see you
Always wanted to see this :-* :-*
I kind of wanted to see the process for making the marching skins as well.
0:10 mixed nuts?
From kid-drumstiks to adult-drumsticks. I just bought one today.
Glad to see this video. Chubby little drummer here
Awe someee Great Jreddzz
This didn’t actually show much about making the heads.
Wow!
When they got to the part describing the making of the drumhead itself he started talking about 'the film.' What is that 'film' made of?
TheMerryPup they would tell you.. but then they would have to kill you....trade secret .... duh...
It's a Mylar film not unlike a comic book protective sleeve made by Dupont.
PET film
Does the factory practice 5S, where do they source their aluminium and will tarrifs affect them?
都玲グッチ The USA has PLENTY of aluminum. No need to source it outside of the USA.
As an engineer these types of things peak my interest :)
I like Evans drumheads 😍😍
Wow👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
2:10 shes like, gosh I hate my life lol
LOVE EVANS...
The best drum heads all time
wow this drumheads are made! Now ik why these drums are made.
Great
Just changed my snare drumhead from Remo Ambassador to Evans Genera, such an enormous difference, either in terms of coating or tone.
Wao amazing
for 25 years I've been wondering why is there rainbow reflection in the drum head.. well now I know 2:50
Mikko Pulkkinen Thats only for hydraulic heads. The rainbow colors you’re thinking about is simply air trapped between the 2 layers of film.
Joe Rico I thought it was from the oils on my hands and fingers.
Jared is cool.
@drumeo Why hasn't Chris Coleman give a lesson at drumeo studio ?? It would be great if you deliver a lesson with him !
Dumeo - the title should be 'D'addario Factory Tour - How Drum skins are made'

Estaría mejor si pusieras subtítulos en español , buen video 👍
1:53 - ACME portable holes
Remo for life!! Jk, you can’t go wrong with either.
I live like 5 minutes from the Remo factory
Andrew Parson you live 5 minutes from the drum factory. You like grammar.
So andrew, who needs to know that your home is five min frm the factory?
@@pepsicola6951 thats ironic
@@memestream8929 yes sir
I live 5 minutes from Hoenigsberg/Austria. And there's no Remo's.
But a railway station, three bus stations and the fabulous Obi-Market.
Oh man...that looks like a fascinating job...removing freshly cut heads from the belt....I couldn't do it haha
TheApostleofRock is exhausting 😣😣
very very cool \m/
Hey Evans... make an 11" head for toms. Some of us still have them, and we would prefer to use Evans over Remo.
Evans' 360 technogy is great for studio but almost every drum head I bought from Evans had a little dent in the edge (my 16" Floor Tom and 12" Tom head for example). My first 14" G2 tom head had glue between the two plys. This never happened to me with remo. Maybe dent comes from the Level 360 because it has an edge but maybe not. im more of a Remo guy, but this was still very interesting
You should have gone to Remo
Wow Evans drumhead their the best
Who made the 1st mylar head??
