This song always take me back to the Spring of 1978 when I was in the 8th grade and had not been to school in over two months because of all the shit going on in my life (no direction, no one to listen to me at home, no friends,) and watching my classmates past by my house with their Jr. Diplomas and there I was on the point of dropping out. By the grace of God, I was able to return to school and start the 9th grade, I graduated on time and now I have three degrees!! This song got me through!!
My dad requested this at his funeral RIP Daddy! Fly high! And also dedicated to all the people we've lost to this crazy covid 19! I love you world! 🥰😘 Stay strong!!!!
God I love this song. My mom passed away in '93. Every time I hear this, I think of her. I always rewind in half way through at least 4 times before I let it ride. can't help but love this song forever.
40 years ago when I was 12 listening to this jam and asking myself, this song has to endure the test of time. 2017 I'm still jamming to this classic tune. Glad these awesome songs don't have an expiration date...
Years ago I wrote my father a card to the lyrics of this song while he was battling cancer. I didn't until until recently how much it meant to him until recently. On May 18th 2016 he sailed away and I have to carry on.
Awe man, I so sorry for your loss. In a not so funny coincidence, I did the same for my old man. He was in the Navy for 24 years so I thought this was fitting. Let's hope our father's charted the way for us. God Bless.
Maybe they're up there talking about their sons listening to this song. My dad was always up to talk to strangers. Was a small town cop for 20 years. Hope your doing okay, keep your head up.
Back in the 70's They played this constantly, i think of childhood friends too. We all loved it, we all listened to it everywhere. The pretty girls at school loved it, i can still see them dancing in the snow. like a gathering of angels
This was the song that we played on the intercom throughout our war ship when were heading back to the US from a long Navy deployment..."Come Sail Away With Me"
This song is an absolute classic. I love this song. 1978. I remember waiting for this song to come on the radio. Styx gave us an absolute masterpiece with this one.
My oldest son, aged 27, died this passed week. This was his theme song. EVERYONE knew his ring back tone AS THIS SONG. He could belt it at top lung BADLY in the shop he worked in. This song will ALWAYS make me cry now. It is so fitting of him and his life.
Awesome song by Styx! Used to listen to it over and over in LA in the late 70s when I was kid....brings back memories of the original Star Wars debut, Dodger vs Yankees, late nights at the park playing ball! Happy times!

this song will forever remind me of one of the greatest times in my life. We call it the trench song. As we finished the biggest project of our lives this song came on. somehow we all knew the words by heart. Im sure we sounded like the worst singers anybody ever heard but we loved it. Greatest moment of my life...
My friend Kennedy passed away from type one diabetes 4 years ago. Every year on her birthday, a few friends and I dress in blue, and play this song for her in the school hallways.
When I got my first cd player back somewhere between '89-'91, my first four cd's were: Michael Jackson - Dangerous, Stevie Nicks (Leather & Lace I think), Styx (some collection), & some Starship collection. I loved them all lol. Even though I didn't know too much about any of those albums. I had no idea who Stevie Nicks was. Styx I never heard of. Starship I knew some songs, & Michael Jackson's album...not sure if I even knew any of the songs on there. lol good times. My dad bought them. I was just grateful to have a cd player so I didn't care what cd's I got.

Many wonderful memories in the 70's. Very popular song for the era. Which still resinates today. Life was so good in the 70's in the Fla keys. Truly magical. Only if you lived back then in this era get it :)
I loved this song when I first heard it when I was a little kid. I am just now entering adulthood, and it makes me so happy seeing that this song is literally changing a homeless man's life! Classic Rock FOR LIFE!
Best concert of my youth was Styx in 1981. This song, my favourite, was the end of the 2nd encore (and the final song of the concert). I can still remember it like it was yesterday.
MrDJS444 Ha, I beat that, I saw the Grand Illusion tour in '77 or '78. Tho the only thing I remember about it was some tall dude stoned out of his mind standing on his chair in the balcony a few rows ahead of me dancing with his arms outstretched. No one behind him could see a damn thing but he refused to sit down. Finally after about 10 or 15 minutes someone threw a bottle & hit him in the head & he sat down. People cheered. Good times.
Easily, one of the greatest bands of all time and one of the greatest songs ! Can't think of any other vocalist singing at such a high pitch with a silvery smooth voice !!
GREAT SONG! My dad game me an 8 Track and an old 8 Track player (before I even had a car), which my mom installed after he died when I was young. He told me this was what life would throw at me and he was right.
