  • This first video is a short explanation and introduction to the trigger point. Many health and pain problems, like frozen shoulder, chronic neck stiffness and migraine are related to trigger points. People can learn how to effectively treat trigger points themselves. I hope to show you in this video that trigger points are a fact, not a theory.
    To learn more about all the specific trigger points and how to treat them I recommend "The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook" by Clair Davies. This book also tells about causes of trigger points and more. For more advanced information about trigger points (requires basic knowledge) I recommend the book "Myofascial Pain and Dysfunction" by Travell & Simons.
    Please don't mind my foreign accent :).

    Thank you, Michiel Akkerman, for an excellent explanation and video. After almost 2 yrs. of pain and useless physical therapy, I went to a Pain clinic where I was treated by someone who was an expert in trigger points. Relief came very quickly and I was taught ways to prevent it from happening again. That was 8 yrs. ago. If only more medical personnel were taught about Trigger Points we would not have an epidemic of people gobbling dangerous painkillers, which only mask the problems, & do nothing to resolve it. Thanks again, this is a wonderful educational video.

      But didnt the pain clinic give you trigger point injections? Thats just as bad as pills. The goal is to cure to problem, not cover the pain with numbing agents

      Get a theragun and ball. lacrosse ball, baseball ect. Find the spots that are sore and beat them to a pulp. That's what I have been doing and it's slowly but surely working. My back and knee were in so much pain I thought I was injured for life. Knee pain was 8 years back pain was 3, I figured out both stem from myofascial syndrome. No "experts" could help me. It's usually a "deep tissue issue" thats causeing problems. I'm able to squat without knee pain and sit without back pain when that was not an option just a couple weeks ago.

      Can use thermal therapy.
      Allow the shower head to spray Hot water to the trigger points , the pain points as well as tip of skull ..., the duration and the heat depending on severity .
      Keep soles and palms dipped in Hot water ,up to the ankles and wrists for a few minutes, before wetting any other part of the skin for a few minutes;
      Drink warm water, detox, eat healthy, sleep under warm sheets .....
      all to keep up smooth blood flow)
      Need to learn to Let Go, to reduce stress . Seek help in Solving or dissolving issues in life.., and in Practice of self love.
      Chronic stress, poor diet, lack of exercise leads to constipation and metabolism issues..,leading to toxic built ups.. .,weakens immunity, ruins the joints, eventually all 7 systems will crash.

      I saw one so called 'fascia therapist' who pressed so hard at area at base of skull that she pushed atlas vertebrae out of place and upset vagus nerve on one side ... massive problems created from which I am still suffering months later. She also had earlier cause my entire rib cage and sternum to freeze up so that I could hardly breath .... I should never have returned but she did actually help me on one visit.

    I have had these pains in my back on and off for years. The pain starts like a pinching in my upper back and develops into what feels like a spasm all the way down to my lower back, it is so painful that I have to lay down and take the strain off my back. I didn’t even know what a trigger point is!! This video describes exactly where my pain is and where it is radiating to i.e my lower back and upwards to my arm, deltoid muscle. My physio therapist said that it is probably scar tissue and gave me lots of exercises to do, which don’t help but seem to make the problem worse. I have described this pain to my doctor and all he gave me was pain killers and muscle relaxants. After watching this video I think I might finally have some answers and some help. Thank you.

    This was truly A Phenomenal video & honestly the only one on UA-cam that breaks down the deep physilogical realities of Trigger Points; where they are and how they become 'more' triggered and exactly how to release the tension for relief. The majority of videos only display relief options. Analytical people, visuals, Scientist or those who are simply curious need to see and understand this on this level!Thanks Again!

    After watching this excellent video I bought a theracane and the Clair Davies Trigger point therapy workbook. For many years I've had low back pain and poor posture (rounded back) After 30 minutes using the theracane I found and treated multiple trigger points in my back and several in the erector spinae muscles either side of my spine, My lower back pain was gone and posture immediately improved. Well, who'd have thought that tight erector spinae muscles would stop my spine from being straight?!! Over the years I've spent a small fortune on chiropractors or osteopaths and now I'm wondering what for? Fixed myself better for less than £50...Thanks so much for posting this, changed my life !!

    I've been suffering from pain around the shoulder blades for some year, some days worse than others. It's often okey in the morning but in the efternoon it begins to get really stiff and aching, you feel it more when you push your shoulders forward. Its a real pain in the ass, incredible annoying. But i think this vid gave the explanation where the pain comes from. I just pushed my back against a wall with a tennis ball between and found atleast five points in my upper back area. feels already better, i gonna try this every day now. Thanks!
