We're back in a more familiar mart this week, Dowra in Cavan. We're continuing to sell lambs, some new lambs but also some lambs that we didn't sell in the last sale in Carrick!
We've already put alot of time and expense into selling them already so they need to go today.

Good to see the safety rail for the auctioneer, I used to worry about ours falling into the pen at our mart - - - and possibly harming the sheep, and himself of course. I expect the ram lambs were sold as stores, difficult to finish well when they are complete.
Sold as stores surely, I suppose with meal/grain being so expensive buyers are apprehensive about paying too much for them too. Cheers for watching Wendy. 🔥

You got mighty prices altogether. Here down in kerry the prices have come down altogether from last year. You’d be lucky to get £2.50 a kilo , last year we can’t complain they were very good , might have to make the long haul up to Cavan😂 . What weight were the last bunch you sold with purple on the pole?
Not fully Kieran, they didn't weigh them. Probably 37 or 38kg. It'd be interesting to see how you do!
Farming is the only business where you produce a product then ask the buyer what do you want to pay me for it. Which we could do that with all our purchases especially machinery.

is there any reason why you do not squeeze the ram lambs in the month of august ?
We have found grow faster not squeezed George, we sell then as stores and try to get them as good as we can before they're sold.

We don't use cows hair or sheeps wool in the merch Annah. 😅 They're normal, good quality cotton/polyester hoodies. Hoping to bring out some wool products down the line though!

Are sheepskins popular with Europeans? Would it be worth it to pre-sell some yourself? Sold in whole, halves or quarters?
The factories would keep the skins and sell them generally Kenyon. 👍

Dowra itself is on the border, maybe it is! The address they use is Fairgreen, Dowra, Co. Cavan.
