    It's actually insane if you think about it. Eastman's flagship auditorium for 3.5k

    Eastman hands down sounds better. I expect the most bang for the buck. My money is too precious to not get the most tone for the $$$, 10K for an inferior guitar vs 2.9K or whatever for a superior guitar??? That's an easy decision. I really appreciate the comparisons guys it helps us stay informed as to what is available.

    Finally! I LOVE that Eastman. I'm a sucker for bling....yes, shameless! I think you sold it right away, didn't you? I would love a custom one in cocobolo. I know they make them :> And I agree...please no knobs drilled into the guitar Taylor! Thanks for the video.

      Carol I’ve been saying that for years also! Why in the world would you make a beautiful piece of art like these guitars are and then put plastic knobs on it. What a travesty! That’s one reason why I’ve never bought a Taylor guitar. They should at least offer their same models without the plastic knobs. You can put electronics in a guitar without the knobs!

      @@rogerd9150Correct, they probably expect you to buy extra if you want the fancy wood knobs ... I've seen them for sale somewhere

    Tone samples start at the 14:00 mark for the Eastman and 15:00 for Taylor.
    PRO-TIP: Go to 14:00 and listen to the first 30-second clip, then skip to the 15:00 mark and hear the comparison. For each sample, skip back and forth 60 seconds to compare the guitars.
    For me, the Eastman has more belly. The first clip is the only one which I would give Taylor the win, but the rest are Eastman IMHO.

    I liked the Taylor best when played finger-style and the Eastman when you picked it…it would come down to $$ for me.

    Hi guy's great video thanks.
    I've just bought a used ps14 ce.
    I agree with the comments regarding the taylor pickup not very good. Having any pickup system drilled into guitar is horrible looking and soon outdated by better systems . Much better with internal system that can be updated and hidden. Causing no damage. The ring rosette on the eastman is a bit horrible. Best wishes Dean from 🇬🇧

    If you had to pick with your eyes closed- the Eastman is a clear winner. Warm lush tone.

    Oooh, Taylor wins that by a fair bit in this comparison to my ears, and I am a big Eastman fan. It sounds more open, woodsy and responsive through my headphones (and louder?). Maybe the Eastman is tight and new, but with the Engelmann spruce top to me it lacks crispness and punch. Sounded a bit spongey in comparison to the blinged out Taylor.

    i haven't come across with anyone here in youtube talking about on board preamp that it makes annoying rattling sound in the long run of playing. my takamine with old skol cathode ray tube preamp makes rattling sound on the battery compartment when playing and also my then 614 ce taylor 2011. maybe you guys may comment about that. thank you.

    • @AcousticShoppe
      @AcousticShoppe  Рік тому

      Sure, from our understanding with time, the plastic components in preamps can loosen. It sounds like you maybe just need to a tech to modify the battery components or just modify it yourself. But that is an issue that can occur!

    I found I liked the sound of the Eastman over the Taylor. The Eastman had a better overall voicing (more balanced across low, mid, and high ranges), whereas the Taylor sounded less present to my ears. Also, playing the instruments? No, I come here for the TALK. Next time, no playing, only talking. If I were interested in a meaningful balance, would watch another video from The Acoustic Shoppe. So there.

    I bought an Eastman AC622CE from The Acoustic Shoppe last week and I love it. I would prefer that there was an option for no electronics because I would rather not have it at all. Personally I have no need for it and I've never heard a system that sounds as good as the guitar through a high end microphone. Look at this video. They're not plugged in.

    All that frilly inlay work makes me queasy. I think the maple inlays in the AC622CE are so much classier. Sounds like the Eastman needs a truss adjustment, the strings are fretting out a bit. Jeremy, use your hammer to knock out the Taylor controls and create a sound port all in one move.

      I agree. It's not even close. The Taylor lacks the depth and richness that the Eastman possesses in the bottom end (which is typical of Taylor's line of guitars generally...and I own a few of them!). Eastman guitars are simply outstanding....

    I just bought the Taylor 814 ce Special Edition Honduran Rosewood . I can still return it. I honestly think the Eastman resonates and fills the room with its chime carrying over into the next note. It's fuller,louder, to me more acoustic projection filling the room. The Taylor especially for the money all most 3 times is a dissapointment. My guitar I'm feeling it's just not there . I have an old kiso suzuki ws 100 from 1980( $100.) That honestly gives me more than my 814. It's just dull nothing alive. I don't get it. My suzuki explodes with sound my Taylor I have to really push it to get anything out of it. Is that a Rosewood and torrified Sitka issue.

    Solution.. don't buy a guitar with electronics and put a k&k in it. Most natural sounding setup you can buy/have. Is completely removable with no damage.

    • @weaselpopper

      Exactly why I buy guitars without elec. and install K&K. Not much for bling also it does not make them sound any better.

    I'm one of those players of the opinion the Taylor expression system is not very good. The guitars are fantastic to play and just feel so well-built but I've never had a good experience with their electronics. Unfortunately, that fact alone has kept me from purchasing more Taylors (I own a 362ce-12 fret). It's a personal thing for sure, and I've never steered anyone away from buying a Taylor, but if they ask my opinion I will always tell them to be sure to plug them in before they buy. I say folks either love or hate the electronics and they need to decide for themselves.

    • @michaelmalik5049
      @michaelmalik5049 Рік тому

      I agree. I have a Taylor 310ce & I have always found the expression system to sound a bit tinny. When my friend convinced me to buy his Takamine EF341SCX because he was moving into a smaller place that became my main guitar because the pickup was so much better.

    I have always wondered why you would put plastic knobs on such a beautiful work of art like these expensive guitars. You brought up even more great reasons not to do it. I must confess I’ve never liked the brightness of Taylor guitars.

  • @davidklein3213

    Its tough to say but i think the hand shaved bracing in the Eastman really lets it win this competition . I have a $4799 Taylor 814 Honduran Rosewood beautiful guitar. But the Eastman sounds better than that Talyor or the one i have. I have a hard time paying more than 2 grand on a chinese guitar. Eastman shouldnt of left the United States. I get it, cost reduction. But im going to be honest. The work ethics and quality of work from the asian culture knocks the hell out of US employees. Not saying that there are not great employees here. But on average the asian population wins.

  • @richurro20
    @richurro20 9 місяців тому

    The Eastman sounds better, at least for this style of guitar playing.
    For me though I just couldn't ever fork up that type of money for a Chinese guitar that tries so hard to mimic Martin's sound instead of curating their own. I would rather just wait and save up more and get a Genuine Martin.
    At least Taylor has their own unique tone, love it or hate it.
    But thats just me and im a stickler, so if your not like me and don't care for those trite complaints, there aren't that many guitars that look and sound this nice for the money.

    I'm not a fan of Taylor's new v class I think it really destroyed Taylor's tone. Don't think this taylor has it tho without the graphite nut. Give me a taylor 914ce from early 90s with andirondack performance x bracing any day! We have one of these Eastman in the Bourgeois shop to play and they sound amazing!

    Taylor for me,Love Taylor guitars.Im not understanding the people who say they like the sound of the Eastman guitar better I'm hearing the very opposite and have many guitars but I think people who can't afford the more expensive guitars just say these things to make themselves feel better about having to settle for much cheaper guitars,I listened to a lot of guitar videos and Ninety nine point nine percent of the time the top named brands wins hands down,I honestly think anyone who says that Eastman sounds better than the Taylor I think there lying and if I thought the Eastman sounded better I would have picked it,But some people are doing exactly what I said there trying to compare a much inferior guitar to a much much better superior guitar and trying to make thereselves believe they actually believe it.No way does the Eastman sound even close to the Taylor.Either there deaf or liars.

    ☑️ so I have this Taylor PSGA in cocobolo looks super hot but sounds dull-ish _I figure due to the rather heavy dense cocobolo (probably) ; and I have this very recent Eastman AC308CE small body in Mahogany that sounds AMAZING and is kinda heavy-ish for it's small size and wood combo ; go figure ⁉️❓️ ; so I just ordered a Hot looking Eastman E40OM ; but I will keep the hot looking dull-ish Taylor too 🥺 ❗️‼️ 🤔 🥸 🤓
