The rollercoaster of emotions that was the confusion of finding out a Megamind 2 exists then disappointment that it failed then sadness at seeing the sad PNG was brutal and I haven't even played the video yet.
I was so pleased and confy with you talking about the ONE AND ONLY EXISTING Megamind movie, that i tottaly forgot what the video was about and my little happiness moment was crushed
THEY SLAUGHTERED MY BOY. Is this what Cedric Diggory's father felt like? Rest in peace Robert Pattinson, you would have hated Megamind 2. I love this, I love you.
20:20 I adore this line read, because to Roxanne and most normal people, it sounds like a deliberate joke. But because it's Megamind, no one knows he's being completely serious, which makes the gag even funnier. When he's cosplaying Bernard, his utter social ineptitude and arrogance inadvertently comes across as wittiness and sarcasm, and he has NO idea that his "charming personality" is all a complete fluke. The joke works on so many levels. This movie is a goddamn masterpiece.
Its a shame that they completely ignored the original movie in the, "Sequel". I could see so many interesting takes on Megamind learning on how to be a good hero. Imagine if Metro Man comes back and tries to make his debut as Music Man but gets found out immediately but Megamind covers for him by implying that his sun ray sapped his powers, supporting his ambition. Then you could still introduce the Doom Syndicate but have them target Metro Man, forcing Megamind to try to save him while covering for him, giving opportunities for him to learn but also for Metro Man to provide support/lessons on his journey.
The thing that bothers me the most about this is that Megamind was willing to use his dehydration gun on a trio of people dressed as fish But he couldn’t do that same thing with the Doom Syndicate because they’re not one villain like Tighten sound logic
They fumbled the dehyration gun instead of explain its lack of use with it breaking or specifically stating why the whole team could not have it used on, they just did nothing. first film it worked with it being fairly obvious on why it would not work on metroman or titan.
@@randomprotag9329 best case scenario, he could have argued that shadows and magma aren't that easy to dehydrate, but mr. mime would still be fair game, and thundurus would be a maybe
Roxan’s outfit colors changing is something I never noticed. Mind blown 🤯. Also it’s true that Megamind IS a very positive person, often starting interactions with compliments.
I appreciate the way you edit quotes; it brings a lot more focus to the parts you're discussing and maintains the video's pacing. I haven't seen it edited like that elsewhere and hope it catches on more.
The toaster thing is a common gag in stories about super genius characters. The idea is that they're so accustomed to solving complex things that simple things are incomprehensible to them.
After Dreamwork television did to Megamind, i'm imagining what they would do to rise of the guardians! Turn Jack into an annoying kid who always jealous of Santa because Christmas got all the attention and not him; turn Bunny into a lazy rabbit who doesn't care about his friends or work, turn Tooth into a pretentious girl who talks really slow. Thank god they didn't put their filthy hands on this movie 😌
God they disrespected the masterpiece that was Megamind with the best villain ever (representing how guys often can act nowadays when rejected) and they removed the fun character that was Megamind.. I haven’t watched it but I’m not gonna because it’s just sad to me.. so many movies are losing their spark. It’s all just sequels, cash grabs, etc.
Spiderverse is probably one of the only movies I’m excited for right now but seeing the production of the film is even scary.. why do good things have to be forced and everything else is flat almost brain rot like garbage if that makes sense
Schaffrilas's review is about how the supposed Megamind 2/Rules failed as an enjoyable experience This review is how they failed as a sequel. I would make a comment about how we need a 3rd to complete the trinity but what would the 3rd review be about.
My nephew and I watched this together, and as soon as it started he said "Oh!!! That's the Luck girl!!!" You've been remembered 🤝 Loved the video, he really enjoyed it!
I am so glad im not the only one who thinks like this, i normally dont like movie review channels because i grew up watching movies as a outlet for hard times, but i really enjoyed hearing your thoughts and analysis. Its great! 😊
Ok, usually I let my anxiety bully me out of making UA-cam comments, but I am SO stoked to hear that you’re covering Nimona next!! I finally got to watch it for the first time a few weeks ago and I had no one to freak out about it with, but I love everything about that movie. I can’t wait to see your thoughts! ^^
Ah yes, it was definitely a smart idea to get 10 middle aged guys to decide how to relate to the youth, I bet next season (if there is one) they are gonna have a Skibbidy Toilet reference
It's also weird that this only takes place a few days after the movie and they somehow invented cell phones, and streaming became as influential as it is now. From what I remember social media wasn't really a thing back then, and everyone was using flip phones in the first movie. What timeline is this?
Not gonna lie, the intro does kinda slap (when I’m high). My issue was not even the “sequel” itself, but the promotional stuff. “Your favorite characters are back. You’re welcome.” Just seems like outta spite. Like an adult caving into a kid’s tantrum type of response. They do it, but they’re irritated that they think half-assing it counts as them actually doing it. Like that Futurama gag where Bender gave the sick gang “chicken soup”, and it’s chicken and water. That’s how the response feels like. Honestly, it shouldn’t have been done. It purely feels like it was made out of spite. If the show is gonna be passive aggressive towards the audience, who never asked for it, then it’s not worth it.
It's been multiple videos I've commented on but I'll do it again. This time with bullet points AKA things I would've done to make things work: 1) make it be way longer after the movie and the Button of Doom. Let's say a year, maybe two 2) Roxanne and Megamind are a proper couple. I am so tired of will they won't they stuff, they're a proper couple, period 3) Minion stays Minion, becase the name change is dumb and universal *owns both DreamWorks and Illumination* 4) the Doom Syndicate is a group of villains who all fought Metroman at some point but only Megamind get to stand out as a main villain, basically, the Doom Syndicate are a bunch of wannabes no direct relation with Megamind whatsover 5) we can keep Keiko but due to personal preferences I'd like it more if she kept a blog instead of the influencer thing (it's due to the tech in the first movie,it's a little jarring to me that suddenly there's smartphones) 6) Keiko used to be a problem kid back in school, lashing out with ease, and thinking it wasn't worth it to be anything else. Seeing Megamind inspired her to do better and try harder,he became her inspiration (this is also why it should be way longer timeline wise) 7) Megamind has overcompensating problems, upgrading things unecessarily to make them "better" and failing in the process (much like said on this video) 8) at least one uno reverse card scene with Megamind as the "damsel in distress" and Roxanne saving him, bridal carry and everything, again, these two are supposed to be a couple c'mon 9) the dehydration gun thing is valid criticism. Make a gag out of it with Megamind giving a bucket with cubes to the police and telling them "soak them AFTER they're on the cells!!" AND THEN have someone in the Doom Syndicate be immune somehow or they steal his gun in advance, make him have to work around the problem 10) found family themes. Megamind wanted connection more than anything. Found family themes would be great
yeah I subscribed from your wish video. I don't really watch movies like this but you seem really invested in them and its fun to listen to someone who clearly knows and cares about what they're talking about. It's obv you've been a huge fan for a while and the passion (and frustration) feels genuine. Keep it up and I'm sure your channel will really take off probably
The dehydration gun would basically solved everything, but Megamind lost his brain cells in this “sequel” and “tv-show” for some reason. I think it’s brain rot.
UA-cam recommended this to me literally 2 seconds after it released, nice! I always knew that the Megamind sequel/show was bad, but changing minion's name and reversing Roxanne and Megamind's relationship are such huge slaps to the face of the original movie. If the writing wasn't bad enough it really does look like the writers never took the time of day to watch and appreciate the original. I mean, I wouldn't give the original movie a 10/10 rating, but it was still way better than it had any right to be and deserved more that a cheap kids show cash grab. I shudder at the thought of some toddlers growing up with this as their introduction to the Megamind IP. In a way, I do feel really bad for the artists that had to make this show. I know that they got paid and everything, and it probably is just another thing in their pile of projects that they've worked on. But for me, I like taking pride in the things I play a part in creating, saying "I was a part of that", and having the satisfaction of after years of production having created something that truly impacts people. It's why I'm trying to go down the career route that I've been working on. Nothing can beat that infinite satisfaction for me of so much work boiling down to just a few minutes of something truly awesome. At least for me, I feel bad for the creatives here because I certainly would much rather have anything I work on impact people rather than become a universal laughing stock for the internet to get angry about. Great review, and great singing voice too! XD Really looking forward to the Nimona review! Was actually a really good movie, and way more mature and hard hitting than I expected going in from the trailers. Also, the duo dynamic between Ballister and Nimona was genuinely hilarious. :)
29:49 omg you made such a good point on the joke and I’d like to expand on it. Megamind is intelligent. But Roxxane is wise. Like dnd. So he isn’t the best at jokes and quips (I swear I recall him being bad at making retorts like evil is a dish best served cold) so the idea of him making the bad joke but then Rox swinging in with the better one fits them so dang well. What a perfect example of killing the character for a cheap laugh when a better one was right around the corner! (Sorry if this has been said before lol)
great joke for the donut man episode would have been Megamind (our beloved boy) saying: "What? harm me? No, he meant that He was going to pay me back for the ambulance cost." "Not to mention it would've been the completely wrong tone for a revenge line." *Does two different versions of the line "See?"
the way that the characters look and move in the doom syndicate remind me of those ai SpongeBob episodes that are like infinitely streaming on UA-cam- kind of soulless
One thing that I noticed immediately from the trailers and more in the video, is the cars. Why are there suddenly current makes and models? The original movie was throwing a vibe that it was in the late 90s with the old Chevy Caprice looking police cars with rotary light bars. The same was seen in civilian traffic. Older box shaped cars. Now everything is 'current day'? But it's been 2 days?! Even the News Van changed! Compare the police car at 7:06 with the original movie. Car nerd moment done!

You made so many amazing points so far! I never even noticed the colour symbolism, and you’ve shown so much light on Megamind’s character as well as light on the others! (If I’m saying that correctly lol.) God, it’s honestly tragic how much the sequel/show trashed the original. It makes me wonder if the sequel/show makers even rewatched or watched the first at all. If I made movies I’d want things to be accurate as possible.
Wow ! I fish I knew your channel sooner because the quality of the video, writing and editing are just magnificent ! It's a really good work, hope you keep the flame of your pasion, because we can see it in you video !
I know I am like 4 weeks late, but while the Megamind Vs. The Doom Syndicate was really ass, they gave us Lord Nighty-Knight, who also at some point said "Yeah, imagine. All of us living together, always for eternity. Forever. *Until the last star falls from the Heavens and beyond that.* Together. All of us. Just me and my evil friend, living in infinite darkness."
I wouldn't mind if they weren't together because he betrayed her trust in the first movie (no idea about the second) but it would be great character development to then show how a healthy relationship forms and how to build back trust with the person you love the most. but who am I kidding no one in Hollywood has/ even knows what a healthy relationship is. They got rid of those when clawing their way to the top.
The worst part about this whole thing is that they put "You're welcome" as if they just dropped the most significant cinematic "sequel" of the year. Its like... Yeahhh... no thank you?
Hi Carrie, I'm a new viewer and I really enjoy watching your takes on these movies with your calming voice - but I was wondering if it would be possible to lower the volume on the edits and clips because they hurt my ears ;-; I don't want this to come off as rude because I've been binging your videos, but I get jumpscared everytime since I have to turn up youtube to hear your voice, but there's a loud edit. Anyways - great video nonetheless! Made me appreciate Megamind a whole lot more
26:06 Theres also an important part here, this scene is the only part where the baby dosent cry at the sight of megamind, in every other scene that the baby is in, when megamind appears, is bawls its eyes out, but here, it dosent, it shows that the civillians are no longer scared of him
This is the first video of yours ive ever seen and you immediately won me over with the reference to stitch the movie (which is a FAR BETTER sequel movie/setup for a sequel show than this is)
After watching a few videos now I just came to notice something: I like people complaining or critiquing things I dislike for long periods of time. A nearly hour long thing about something I thought was bad? That’s just exactly ideal man
13:59 to be fair, he knows megamind enough to know that he isnt really trying to hurt Roxanne and its just "the villain thing". Whereas titan is shown to be VERY willing to do grevious violence
this reminds me of the netflix boss baby show- but like that's for kids.. the show wasn't made 14 years after the boss baby movie unlike the megamind show-
To be honest, I don't feel like Megamind needs a sequel. Sometimes I feel like a story is so satisfyingly completed that I don't want a follow-up. It's the same with Ratatouille or The Iron Giant, if those got sequels I wouldn't know what to think.
This was really well done. I really liked how you didn’t just mock the show and actually put in the time to dissect the character traits and compare them to the sequels. It really made me think differently and was an awesome listen.
i had put this video on while drawing and zoned out when i was suddenly hit with schaffrillas shouting "DEHYDRATION GUN" it scared me so badly and definitely brought me back to attention

Thats a genuis idea!
I love that idea!!!
Never noticed the color language in Roxanne’s outfits. That’s really cool!
I like that in the half of the video you just get tired of sequel and start telling the plot of first movie

…why must you wound me where it hurts
oh damn this is 45 minutes? this is gonna be a fun watch for sure
Oh shoot
God they disrespected the masterpiece that was Megamind with the best villain ever (representing how guys often can act nowadays when rejected) and they removed the fun character that was Megamind.. I haven’t watched it but I’m not gonna because it’s just sad to me.. so many movies are losing their spark. It’s all just sequels, cash grabs, etc.
Spiderverse is probably one of the only movies I’m excited for right now but seeing the production of the film is even scary.. why do good things have to be forced and everything else is flat almost brain rot like garbage if that makes sense
Schaffrilas's review is about how the supposed Megamind 2/Rules failed as an enjoyable experience
This review is how they failed as a sequel.
I would make a comment about how we need a 3rd to complete the trinity but what would the 3rd review be about.
how megamind rules/2 fails at existence

Ok, usually I let my anxiety bully me out of making UA-cam comments, but I am SO stoked to hear that you’re covering Nimona next!! I finally got to watch it for the first time a few weeks ago and I had no one to freak out about it with, but I love everything about that movie. I can’t wait to see your thoughts! ^^
thanks for commenting 💖
I was listening to this at work and genuinely got jumpscared by the Schaffrillas clip.
"Greater value alien Astarion"
That's it, close the site, there's no better quote coming around.
That was an amazing breakdown on the Megamind IP. I knew you were something special, so glad I stuck around with you ❤💜
Not gonna lie, the intro does kinda slap (when I’m high).
Definitely looking forward to nimona vid from you. Glad you got almost 1.5k between recording and uploading
thank you 💖 there’s quite a lot to talk abt w/ that one honestly
It's been multiple videos I've commented on but I'll do it again. This time with bullet points AKA things I would've done to make things work:
1) make it be way longer after the movie and the Button of Doom. Let's say a year, maybe two
2) Roxanne and Megamind are a proper couple. I am so tired of will they won't they stuff, they're a proper couple, period
3) Minion stays Minion, becase the name change is dumb and universal *owns both DreamWorks and Illumination*
4) the Doom Syndicate is a group of villains who all fought Metroman at some point but only Megamind get to stand out as a main villain, basically, the Doom Syndicate are a bunch of wannabes no direct relation with Megamind whatsover
5) we can keep Keiko but due to personal preferences I'd like it more if she kept a blog instead of the influencer thing (it's due to the tech in the first movie,it's a little jarring to me that suddenly there's smartphones)
6) Keiko used to be a problem kid back in school, lashing out with ease, and thinking it wasn't worth it to be anything else. Seeing Megamind inspired her to do better and try harder,he became her inspiration (this is also why it should be way longer timeline wise)
7) Megamind has overcompensating problems, upgrading things unecessarily to make them "better" and failing in the process (much like said on this video)
8) at least one uno reverse card scene with Megamind as the "damsel in distress" and Roxanne saving him, bridal carry and everything, again, these two are supposed to be a couple c'mon
9) the dehydration gun thing is valid criticism. Make a gag out of it with Megamind giving a bucket with cubes to the police and telling them "soak them AFTER they're on the cells!!" AND THEN have someone in the Doom Syndicate be immune somehow or they steal his gun in advance, make him have to work around the problem
10) found family themes.
Keep it up and I'm sure your channel will really take off probably
aww thank you 💖
The dehydration gun would basically solved everything, but Megamind lost his brain cells in this “sequel” and “tv-show” for some reason. I think it’s brain rot.

HIYA! :D. SO HAPPY TO SEE ANOTHER VIDEO FROM YOU! 🥺

XD
Really looking forward to the Nimona review! Was actually a really good movie, and way more mature and hard hitting than I expected going in from the trailers. Also, the duo dynamic between Ballister and Nimona was genuinely hilarious. :)
-good to know my singing gags were liked haha-
29:49 omg you made such a good point on the joke and I’d like to expand on it. (Sorry if this has been said before lol)
great joke for the donut man episode would have been Megamind (our beloved boy) saying:
"What? harm me? No, he meant that He was going to pay me back for the ambulance cost."
"Not to mention it would've been the completely wrong tone for a revenge line."
*Does two different versions of the line

The way CarrieTooTired started singing despicable me at the start is gold
the way that the characters look and move in the doom syndicate remind me of those ai SpongeBob episodes that are like infinitely streaming on UA-cam- kind of soulless
As someone who’s not a car person, thanks for the info!

I know I am like 4 weeks late, but while the Megamind Vs. The Doom Syndicate was really ass, they gave us Lord Nighty-Knight, who also at some point said
"Yeah, imagine. All of us living together, always for eternity. Forever. *Until the last star falls from the Heavens and beyond that.* Together. All of us. Just me and my evil friend, living in infinite darkness."
Keith david needs to be in everything. Even if its just a random person screaming in the background.
Its like... Yeahhh... no thank you?
they thought they ate w/ that 🙈
Hi Carrie, I'm a new viewer and I really enjoy watching your takes on these movies with your calming voice - but I was wondering if it would be possible to lower the volume on the edits and clips because they hurt my ears ;-; I don't want this to come off as rude because I've been binging your videos, but I get jumpscared everytime since I have to turn up youtube to hear your voice, but there's a loud edit. 26:06 Theres also an important part here, this scene is the only part where the baby dosent cry at the sight of megamind, in every other scene that the baby is in, when megamind appears, is bawls its eyes out, but here, it dosent, it shows that the civillians are no longer scared of him

To be honest, I don't feel like Megamind needs a sequel. Sometimes I feel like a story is so satisfyingly completed that I don't want a follow-up. It's the same with Ratatouille or The Iron Giant, if those got sequels I wouldn't know what to think.
I think Metroman also chose to do music because its the one thing he isn't good at. He can actually improve and challenge himself in something.
