Power Wheelbarrow - There are two main schools of thought when it comes to gas powered wheel borrows. The first one was burned into my body working for my grandfather who believe more in manpower than horse power. The young people on the jobsite would be assigned the task to haul rock uphill all day and you bet there butt that they would have to keep up or hear from the boss! The second way of thinking was of the next generation of family who believed that powered machinery was the way to go because it showed up to work each day without a hangover. That might have been a product of the employees this person would hire, but in the end, the idea was that a better product could be created with people who had energy left to complete the job. This YARDMAX trackbarrow is the piece of equipment that will show up every day to work and complete the energy draining tasks without an issue, leaving people able to finish a task without being dead tired from pushing a wheelbarrow.
Landscaping is a very obvious use for this trackbarrow, but not the only task this compact tracked wheelbarrow works in. This powered wheel borrow allows you to maneuver heavy loads across tight jobsites, even between tight fence openings. The trackbarrow will hold 660 lbs. of material and move it across almost any terrain without chewing up grass or leaving ruts. Speed is controlled via the engine throttle and a three forward speed gear box that also has reverse. The dump box has a gas assisted shock, but the placement of the hinge allows for easy dumping even at full capacity.
    YD8103 Features
    660 lb payload capacity
Gas shock assist helps dump the heaviest loads
Tracks offer all-terrain traction and stability across uneven, muddy and wet ground
Powered by Briggs & Stratton 900 Series engine
Multi-speed heavy-duty transmission (3 Forward speeds plus Reverse)
Zero turn radius for pivoting without damaging the ground
Evenly balanced to maximize control and prevent tipping
Controls ensure an instant stop with release of drive handle
Solid steel hopper, frame, and handles for durability
    Inclines, Who Cares!
When we first received this trackborrow, we questioned its limitations. It has wide rubber tracks that look like they can go anywhere. We compare it to a tank! As we began to test the limits of the machine, we started to notice the angles that the motor had to operate in. One one test, we were climbing up a long 60 degree angle and the motor stopped. We quickly figured out that the low oil shut down was the issue. So the question of "how much of an incline can I drive my trackbarrow up/down?" is answered below.
Assuming maximum capacity of engine oil on the crankcase (top notch of the dipstick), the only real easy way to stop the unit is when the power wheelbarrow declines more than 21 degrees from the left to the right. (Left hand side is higher than the right hand side). If you go up a hill at a 50 degree angle or more, over time the oil will shift and possibly cause a shut down. We want to note that 50 degrees is very steep! On a jobsite, one can drive through two foot deep excavator tracks and see angles much greater than 50 degrees for short periods of time and not have a shut down.
    Rugged Durability
While using the YARDMAX Power Trackbarrow we found that the engine and transmission were incredibly durable. The Briggs & Stratton engine will sit and quietly idle for hours without missing a beat. The transmission is nothing but incredible. While it is not always the easiest to shift gears, it stood up to many power shifts as people abused it to get the job done faster. The loads this power trackbarrow took were well beyond the rated capacity and the performance never wavered. No matter what we wanted it to do, it would do it, safe or not. This trackbarrow will go anywhere you feel you can walk behind it and operate it!
The hopper is powder coated with a satin finish. Even throwing large rocks into the hopper could not break the finish. Leaving the machine outside all summer did not result in any rust even after intense use. This tracked wheelbarrow is built to stand the test of time! We do not see that much in the outdoor power equipment of today and it is encouraging to see a company working to build a model that is this rugged and durable.

I’ve had mine for 2 years. It is a fantastic tool! We constantly think up new ways to use it. On steep terrain, it’s like a power walker, i.e. helps u stay on your feet. Holds about 2x a regular wheelbarrow. Goes anywhere. This video does it justice. The only problem after 2 years, the carburetor got some dirt. A quick clean and back to work. Tomorrow, I’m moving huge firewood rounds on a steep hillside.

I’ve had mine for a month and the gears are extremely difficult to shift and sometimes strip out when you’re trying to power it up so I don’t know what to make of it it’s touchy as hell but it is fun to use when it’s working

Just ran across their website today. Very interesting. They do have a heavier duty, 1100 pound machine, which is more expensive. But only the 660 pound machine is available in a flat bed. Flat bed makes the machine more versatile IMHO and a good replacement for my ancient DR Powerwagon, whose new design doesn't meet my needs. I like the added traction and stability of the tracks. I'd prefer the flat bed in the heavier duty version, though. Flat bed is SO handy on my DR. It serves as a place to stand when trimming, pruning branches, place to put lumber on for cutting and transport. place to sit and take a break, so many others.

We stopped reviewing them. They got into Home Depot and dropped their quality. They fired half of the staff and now just sell junk to the Depot. Sad.

Just purchased one, debating whether to put on the back of my pickup and take up my large hill, but packing weight is around 465 lbs. Can this thing be assembled on the street, gas and oil added to go up my steep driveway? Guess what I'm asking, how difficult to assemble? Thank you and love your video demo!!!!❤

My concern is parts they have none listed on the website the transmission is clunky at best if it gos I don't want a $2000+ machine as a $2000 paperweight

Moving cords of firewood with a regular wheelbarrow is hard. Moving cords of firewood with a regular wheelbarrow on a sloped mountain property at 9,000 ft of elevation is really, really hard.
Just ordered one of these due to the above. I need to get a high altitude jet for the carb but I’m pretty stoked overall.

When I saw you hauling cord wood, I'm wondering how this tool will react on snow/ice. Any thoughts?

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  7 років тому +2

The tracks should float pretty well over snow. It did amazing in soupy mud. Ice should also be no issue. I think it would be harder to walk behind it on ice than anything. The tracks are what make this unit awesome because it opens up so many more uses. It is a snowmobile with a hopper in a sense. Turning on pure ice might have to be done a bit more by hand using your body weight, but that should not be an issue.

At this time, YARDMAX has not dabbled in the electric market. Everything they have is gas. Makita is coming out with a battery powered one, but i do not think it will be the same payload as this one.

Hi guys, do you think this thing could go down a ramp built on a set of steps? I have seen people climbing with it, but not much going down. Maybe 20 to 30 degrees downhill? I need to move some stone down a place where the only access is steps.

You give this piece of equipment a lot of praise, but after going to the Amazon link provided in your video description and reading the 1-star reviews, there appear to be a lot of serious concerns from people who purchased this track barrow. In fact, 85 people found one of those 1-star reviews to be helpful. Please read those 1 & 2 star reviews and address those concerns. Now that you've owned the track barrow for 3+ years, please do a follow up review of the product that addresses its durability, reliability and maintainability over time. Bottom line: I'm led to believe this product is junk based on 1-star amazon reviews from people with first-hand experience who seem to know what they're talking about.
