I was 11. Our very first assembly. My dad was to be baptised there. But caught pneumonia. So couldn’t. He was rushed off to get baptised a week or so later in Margate. My mum cried when they announced it at the Sunday meeting. All thought they were happy tears. But no, she thought she had lost him to God. Her atheism died. They have served Jehovah faithfully ever since. Thanks for the memories 👋☺️

To hear the old songs makes this nostalgic (weepy face)! I didn't know the large assemblies of yesteryear, but I do remember the 'Sing Praises To Jehovah ' songbook with the orange cover.
This was our families first assembly. Mum and Dad got baptized here after studying the Truth Book for 6 months. My brother and I wanted to get baptized too, but we were only 8 and 9 years old. The original Ezekiel book was released at this assembly, and also the original Listening to the Great Teacher book. I think this was the year that the public talk was entitled When Nations Collide Head On With God, but my memory might be playing tricks there.
