Awesome seam agate. I'm jealous, makes me wish I was 30 years younger, still able to drive and had a rockhounding friend who wanted to explore Nova Scotia and find rocks/agates, etc. That's why I'm glad I found your channel and videos.
I think I’ve figured out why I keep finding rocks in the washer and dryer! I saw a few instances of the boys putting rocks in their pockets! I have a feeling me ‘tumbling’ them in the washer doesn’t offer the same effect as in your tumbler!
That's why I geared them up with backpacks last trip.
my grand ma and mom used to find fishing worms and snakes and frogs in us boys pockets, i think rocks would have been safer for us boys!!
@@yoopermann7942 my brother would bring all that stuff in the house and he would put it in the deli drawer of the refrigerator LOL my mom had to take lots of worms and stuff out of there.
Lol I noticed that huge rock was getting heavier by the minute! The longer you carry them, the heavier they get! Beautiful rocks!!!!!
Yeah lol! I was adding 5 lbs everytime. Noticed that too.
Those are top of the charts for seam agates! Great finds !!
Thanks Nate!! It was an exciting day for sure!
Are you kidding me dude!!!! The seam is real bro! Oh my gosh! That, that right there is what I’d call “the source”! I’ve never found a “source” and I am so stoked to see someone else do it! Pack your bags boys! This is rad!
Yes absolutely these stretch of little coves is the source for most seam agates in the region, which is why there are no fractures in the material.
The best agates I’ve ever seen honestly!
Oh wow thanks! Nova Scotia seam agates are known to be quite beautiful. However these ones don't even compare to the museum quality agates people have pulled from these cliffs! Thanks for watching!!
OMG That stuff is amazing. Plus you are mining it yourself. Oh what a lucky man.
💯🙏
Oh my lord , right away awesome agate
Ohh that porcelain seam agate!!! Beautiful!! All of them were. Hard work but great pay out thanks for sharing.
Thanks Cindy! It was quite the hike to get in their but you are right...definitely worth it!! We are hopefully going back in the next couple of weeks.
I liked your green and red Seam Agate the best. Terry's finds were amazing too. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Judy!
I have family in Scotts Bay and spent summers rockhounding there - A rockounds paradise. Can’t wait to get back there even though I am in BC. I actually just cut some seam agate I got there 40 yeas ago and it is F’amazing!
Yep, the seam agate from Nova Scotia is world class. So much variety.
Rrrr, you lucky dogs! Phenomenal pieces right there!
Thanks matey!!
What a great spot! I have never seen so much material in one little cove. I would go by boat. Some real special stones there
Thanks man!! It would be tough to go by boat with the size of the rocks and the tide. I've never heard of anyone doing it. You can do it on the other side of the cape where the rocks are smaller and the beaches are flatter.
The green and red plume! Salmon color they're all good can't pick a fave. Awesome hunt. I enjoyed your vid.
Thanks for watching!
Outstanding! I am blown away by such gorgeous finds, can’t wait to see some cut and polished. And I just love seeing the agate seams in situ. You guys always knock it out of the park, but this adventure was .....searching for the right word.... the definition of awesome.
Thank you so much Pamela! I've just started to take the boys to these spots that are harder to get to but the treasures are worth it!
Wow, crazy how long some of those veins are. Really cool video. Nice place to hike to. Great finds today. I haven't been able to go out hounding in a few weeks, due to snow, so it's nice to watch your videos and chill out and relax. Thanks for inspiring!
Awesome, glad you like our videos and find them relaxing!
Ok last comment...
Epic is an understatement! I was seriously beside myself the whole time. I might just tell you to leave me there if I was with.
I don't know if I can pick a favorite so I chose my favorite 3!
10:50
15:00
15:40
And Terry had some phenomenal finds too!
Thanks for taking me on a fabulous adventure with you. You have the best hunting grounds. Cheers boys!✨
Thanks Marlaina! That was fun reading your comments! We are so lucky to.have these formations to rockhiund in.
Those kids are gonna treasure that adventure their entire lives and it'll grow just like that agate did!
Some hikes are really worth it! Beautiful agates!
💯
Stunning, absolutely stunning.
Thank you so much!
Wow! And I get excited about one little stripe!!
My cousin lives out on the cape somewhere
I’m in bc so maybe a long while!
I really loved ❤ watching your video today, I'm a rock hound also, I love the flaming you found !!! Jasper and agets are my favorites to find, so keep up the fun work, and God bless you 🙏 😊
Thank you Diane! 🙏
WOW!! what a honey hole you guys found! all them beautiful treasures!!
This is one of those well known spots in NS but so hard to get to. I've just started taking the boys to these harder spots that have tough hikes. So far so good!!
@@RockhoundingLife thats the way i was taught, the easy ways first, then it gets harder and harder as we gain epierience
I can’t stop staring! I bet you guys were in awe of that place! I keep sayin “damn” like a whole bunch Jason, beautiful video mate!
Thanks a ton Jesse! That means a lot to me coming from you! Can't wait for your podcast episode next week my man!! It's going to be epic!!
That red and green seam agate was a beautiful specimen.
What a fantastic hunt, such a shame you had to leave the big boy behind... That would of been awesome to cut. 👍💕
Thanks Marie! Yes I'm still not over having to leave it behind!
Wow! That was a big haul! They are all spectacular!!!
Thanks! It was a good day for sure......except for the big one I left behind 😢
@@RockhoundingLife hopefully it stays on that ledge and you could go back for it! That was an awesome piece. The red and blue seems are pretty epic!
Would love to see the ink spot agate cut. Very unique!
What great fun day yous had. Like the seam and moss agates 👍The red seam jasper agate at 10:20 is so beautiful. Terry's find at 17:47 is just amazing looking ! Enjoyed watching ! Great finds ! Happy Hunting 😃
Thanks triple C! It was a fun day....minus the hour hike back with 40lbs of rocks 😜
Oh man xx you guys fine the most amazing rocks. X. Luv the vids xx
Thanks Klaire!
Wow! Beautiful! That must tumble beautifully. Here in NJ we got a whole lot of nothin’. We’re in an apartment so can’t have a saw or anything. Even tumbler would have to be on balcony and too noisy so I buy smaller rocks. But I want to FIND them myself, not buy them. Except I REALLY want a piece of the Iceland volcano lava rock - I’ve been following it it since before the eruption even started. Happy hunting!
Hi Kathy! Sounds like you need a road trip once this crazy pandemic is over with so you can get out there and find some cool rocks! That would be really cool to own a piece of an young lava flow. Thanks for watching!
Looked like the hike was worth seeing that vein of Seam Agate, great adventure. You find seam agates in your rocks like I would find Quartz in mine. Incredible Agate score!
These basalt cliffs are loaded with treasures from seam agates to agate nodules to zeolites. It's an awesome place to hunt! Thanks for watching!!
Thank you for taking us with you to that magical place!
It was breathtaking to see those seams in the cliffs 🤩
I can imagine that it's very difficult to walk away even with the tide coming in!
Thanks for watching Nancy! It is herd to leave, especially when you have to leave rocks behind that are too big!!
Spectacular! The colors are so intense! I especially like the green flame agate, but really, they're all incredibly beautiful. I hope the hike doesn't discourage your crew from another trip to that spot. Wow! Thank you for sharing this. Take care.
Thanks Gwynn!! Rest assured we will definitely be going back!!
Great Job Nolan!
💯🙏
Awsome man!!! One of the best rockhounding adventures I've seen in a while!! Amazing finds! Excellent job!
Thanks a lot Ivan! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Those are all great! I’m so jealous. 😁👍🏻
🙏
Awesome video and awesome finds
Thanks man!!!
Wonderful samples of agates, good luck to you.
Thank you! You too!
Hello Jason, Nolan, Chase, Travis, and guests, quite a rugged coastline. Pretty cool seam agates, really cool actually. Shows how much was going on at BoF long long ago. Great hull. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Doug! The BOF is a remarkable place.
Oh my gosh... I'm going to need a stack of towels for this haha 😄
🤣
Spectacular!!
Many thanks!
Those seam agates are unbelievable!! I never knew there were so many colors. It was really cool when you showed the actual seams in the host rock !! Thanks for another great video.😎
Thanks Timothy! I'm glad you liked it! It's an awesome spot to rockhound. The seams are pretty cool to see in the rock.
Wow I need to go to Canada. That’s amazing! Just pops out of the sand!
Your finds are always ridiculous! Excellent video!
Thanks again!
What a beautiful spot to go rock hunting.
Those seams are incredible.
Thanks Nicola! It really is an awesome place!
Is the cold worth it? Yes! Have to love a place called the Lobster Hole! Loved seeing the seam in the mother boulders covered in bladderwrack. Looks so similar to some of our coastline, though we don't have big seams hanging out right here at all. You guys killed it, beautiful! Looking forward to seeing some of that cut. Cheers!
Thanks Karen! Cutting the big ones in next week's video!
It’s amazing! I love nice agate seems! It always surprises me how similar these seems can be around the world yet always unique in a way. I’m 3,300 miles away and have similar agate seems I was hunting this weekend! Lively rocks and nice video. Those kids must love it.
Yes it is very cool how rocks can be very similar from place to place even if they formed under slightly different processes. I find seam agates to be very unique and have there own signature, like you can tell exactly where it came from. Thanks for watching!
You have the best collection of agates! No reason for the one thumbs down , you deserve more subscribers 😀👌🏻👍🏻
Thank you so much!
😍😍Beautiful fantastic Seam agate😍😍💎
Thank you! 😊
@@RockhoundingLife 👍
Hi I'm from brezil
Awesome stones
Jason, Seriously!!!!! The Lobster Hole is the best site ever.
I'll take you there when you make your visit to NS!
There is some crazy rock in Nova Scotia. I'm just starting our adventure with my boys...
In Nova Scotia?
So many incredible finds
Thanks!!!
@@RockhoundingLife I’d love to do a rock trade with you and the boys one day. But I honestly feel like the rocks I find on Lake Ontario would be boring to the stuff you and the boys find.
What an amazing location; remoteness certainly has its advantages. That red/green piece at 11:55 is outstanding! I think I ran out of "wow's" while I was watching, :-).
There are so many unique seams out there. Everyone is different. Makes fir exciting rockhounding! Thanks for watching!
Where is the Lobster Hole in relation to the south portion of the Bay as it borders the North shore of Nova Scotia? Awesome rock boulders along the Bay shore which I'm guessing is buried by the tide. Since I'll never get to N.S. again due to Right ankle/foot disability & unable to drive since 2012, I'll really enjoy your videos & 'travel' along with you. Thanks for sharing.
The lobster hole is on the west side of Cape split. Long hike to get in there (over an hour)
watched again.. lol I need to get out there some day.. I have a moose pack back that can take a lot but it is heavy yes
I find if you keep your pack around 30lbs on the way out its not so bad. Anything heavier would be a struggle.
GREAT!
Thanks Karl!
I keep designing a cart in my head...like a dolly but with bigger wheels and a peg for an upright stance. My mom had a laundry basket like this. Of course it would have to wait on the bluff, but after hauling the rocks to it, it would be great to tow on a path. It could be a box on the bottom with a cage extension on the higher part. My eyes are always bigger than my head😆😆
That's a good idea. It would probably work better in the summer when the ground gets harder. Trail is soft this time of year.
You didn't carry Buckets & tools to bring back your finds.. Oh, My.. The fracture lines & Agate bands are truly amazing.. Getting up from the shore Looked like WORK & the boys did well..
We use back packs to carry everything. Its one of the toughest spots to get to along the Bay of Fundy coast. thanks for watching!!
I can’t believe how beautiful the agates are there. I need to visit!
You wouldn't regret it. It's a rockhohnders dream!
Kudos to your boys hiking in there! It isn't an easy hike. My wife and I hiked to cape split and went to the lobster hole on the way back but I couldn't find my way to the beach and she wasn't interested in bushwhacking. Lol. Maybe next time I will head in with some friends now that I have an idea where to go.
We ended up bushwaking our way to the beach on this trip. We ended up in big cove and walked back to the lobster hole. It's definitely a hard spot to get to. But totally worth it!
That was a great video. I love everything you all found. I wish I could find awesome agates like that. Someday I will. Just amazing finds. And I love that the kids enjoy doing it as well. My 2 granddaughters love going rock and she'll hunting with me when we can make it to Maine where they live. I live in Michigan. We go once a year until this pandemic.
Thanks Donna! I've always wondered if the Bay of Fundy basalt extends to the Eastern Maine shoreline. If it does there should be some nice agates there.
@@RockhoundingLife , I have never been that far north. Will have to check that out. It would be awesome if it did. Have you ever done rockhounding on the other side of the Bay?
@@donnalantz7981 no I haven't. For some reason the agates are nowhere near as plentiful over there. You can find then but they are much more rare.
@@RockhoundingLife I can't remember your first name. What is it if you don't mind? I still plan to go as far north as I can and check to see what I can find in Maine. Even if I don't find agates it will be a great adventure. And that's what it's all about, the adventure.
@@donnalantz7981 my name is Jason. And you are right it's more about the adventure than anything else!
Not too often we are forced to leave rocks behind. Great place. Love 15:40.
Good problem to have I guess. I'm still sad about that one though.
That's an awesome trip! I used to think I really wanted to live in Montana for rock hounding but maybe I need to move to there lol
Haha well if you did move here I cab promise you would be happy as a rockhounder!!
Just started watching and the moment I saw that gigantic seam...😲💓🤤 I needed a towel to wipe my drool... OMG! You're in heaven
🤣 I still get like that sometimes myself!!!
Wow!! Such an impressive video! I wouldn’t have been able to leave a rock behind lol! I would’ve had to tell everyone to split the haul! :) I sent ya an email! Hope to hear back from you soon! Big Arizona fan here 👍🙏
Thanks for watching! Reading your email now!
Wow!
😀
The ones with the blue and purple are the prettiest to me. I’m stuck in bed avoiding germs (just got over COVID) waiting on spine surgery in 2 weeks so I can’t even try by the Palisades near the George Washington Bridge - were across from Manhattan.
Oh geez. Hope everything is OK and you have a speedy recovery so you can get back out! In the meantime you can sit back and binge watch our videos 🤪
Yer killin me
🤣
It was an awesome dayJason ,glad the boys enjoyed the venture ,Looking forward to the next trip,Please like and comment, sharing the knowledge is what it’s all about
Always look forward to heading out with you my friend. Until our next adventure together!
Well dad, if each boy had backpack they could carry a few pounds of rocks and then you could have carried the monster!
Definitely. In hind sight I could have given them each a pack. I knew it was rough terrain and it's actually a bit dangerous to navigate that beach with a heavy pack which is why I didn't make them carry anything. They had packs on the next adventure though. 😉
@@RockhoundingLife it looked rough! Great video
That looks like a dessert.
💯😀
I like the ones that look blue.
Me too! Blue is a unique color in rocks.
Nice stuff, I am setting something that looks like that right now
That sounds cool. Are you setting it into a pendant or something else?

How easy is Lobster hole to find? I have been to Cape Split. I am new to rock hounding but wow!
I'm not going to lie.....it's a tough spot to get to. There is a newer trail that takes you to it now but that trail is closed most of the year and the lobster hole isn;t marked on the trail. Its best to go with someone who has been there before for your first time. You also need to time the tides right. There is a small 4 hour window where you can access the beach safely during the tide cycle. So planning is key.
❤️❤️❤️💎❤️
What makes it a moss agate? Actual moss embedded it it? I’m crying for that chunkier you had to leave. It was so pretty!
The Moss agates in this video aren't technically Moss agates. They are plume agates. I called them Moss because that's what the locals have called it for years around here. Sorry if I confused you.
The wealth lies yonder! 👉
💯🔥⛏
"We found AMAZING AGATES" Yes, you sure did!
💯💥
terry likes greens.
I'm starting to notice that too!
I'm wondering if there's a way to get a boat over there?
It pretty rocky. I'm not sure it's possible on that side of the cape. It's possible on the otherside though.
Red/green flame but hard to choose
💯😀
What's the video called that you're referring to @5:40 ?

No motorized vehicles are allowed on the trail. It's a bit narrow anyway.
