To everyone saying that 'now the volume can't be controlled in Wave Link' aka the monitor or stream mix sliders.. that's intentional here. Great video btw! If you don't need your audio sources split (don't need to have music for example now show in your VOD), then revert these changes. This was exactly what i needed though, thanks @nightow1 - shocked this hasn't blown up in views, it really should.
Thank you!! 🔥 I should have really mentioned that limitation in the video to be fair...🙃 But if people ONLY need to split music from the VOD then they can keep everything else in the stream mix except for the music, I should ask the elgato team of theres going to be an easier way to do this down the line.. 🤔🤞
@@ajsarsfield No worries! a future update from Elgato for this would be great. Great idea btw, so if someone wanted to control everything from Wave Link EXCEPT their music, then just have that as it's own audio source in Windows (don't add to Wave Link but DO add to OBS as an Audio Source) - that could work. I came from using Voicemeter + Virtual cables to Wave link.. a virtual cable gives you the best of both situations here.
superb video, easy to follow and no unnecessary talking. I've watched loads trying to figure this out and got confused as they over explained and waffled on.
One thing I did notice is that volume control no longer matters in Wavelink and has to be controlled in OBS instead. Am I missing something or is that just the way it is?
Hey, your always doing great man THANK YOU. one question I am stuck between GOXLR and Elgato Wave XLR. Never used the wave XLR but i have in two days and i don't think its bad. Help me decide :)
I just got a stream deck and for me it doesn’t show stream output but has no additional output device and seen a guy say I have to set aux mic in obs to be able to send it to stream .any thoughts .should I download an old software to keep with what your saying to do
@forsimack3993 Thats actually how it's supposed to work now!! The stream output is always active, you should just see that in other programmes as an input (Although I had a bug once where it didn't show up and I had to reinstall wavelink 🙃) But the "additional" output in wave link is designed to send your audio to a capture card or hdmi device etc for people who have dual PC setups! Regarding the "Aux" suggestion.. In OBS you can select the stream output in the mic/aux settings if you want to. (That means it'll show up on every scene) Or you can manually add the source to your scenes by adding an "audio input capture" It depends on how you want to organise your scenes/sources etc
earned my sub dude! absolutely amazing video! I have been streaming for years and have never had an Audio scene that makes it so much easier to edit in the future! thank you so much for the tips!
Appreciate the kind words!!! I'm glad you found it useful 🔥 I love nesting scenes like this, it makes everything so much easier to control and organise! I even do the same with all my alerts etc too
Hi Nightow1, thank you so much for making this video. I watched like 10 of them but yours was the most useful and easy to follow. It really saved me so much time so cheers and thanks again 🙌
mannnnn not selecting MicrophoneFX was exactly the issue i was having - i kept seleciting Mic In, getting raw microphone audio without effects. love the noise suppression and eq from elgato and was frustrated it wouldn't bridge to obs. thank you so damn much
I did the EXACT same thing when I first got wavelink 😅 I'm so glad you figured out that issue now your settings can sound the same no matter when you're using them! 🔥
Why do you insert each audio source individually? I inserted the finished stream mix from Wave Link and let it run on audio track 1 in OBS and then I added Game Mic Discord and the browser again individually and let them run on track 2 for Twitch VOD. For the recordings I put my mic on track 3, Discord on track 4 and game on track 5. This way you can turn the audio up or down or mute it for yourself or the stream while you're live using the Wave Link software. Sorry if my spelling is not quite correct, my English is not that good so I used Google Translate to help
Honestly it was just for demonstration purposes in the video so people could understand How the process works.. BUT Personally I do something similar to you for my own content.. 'cause I find it annoying when I cant control the volume via my streamdeck 😅 The only downside to having it all together like that means you can't do effects like "audio ducking" though🙃 Elgato needs to allow proper sidechain compression in wavelink and I'll be set
The video and this comment were super helpful. I wanted to retain some control separate (specifically for music) to keep them out of my vod. I *think* what I'm going to do is something like what you said here. Bring the stream mix in for all the things but break music out so I can keep that on a separate audio track. The only gotcha that I had to work out / remember was where I wanted to monitor from. I think I'll try setting OBS to use my headphones and then just not monitor the wave link mix - just monitor it through OBS.
Thanks as always!! 🔥 I was chatting with someone on twitter who didn't know how to do this, So I figured it might be worth making a quick tutorial of how to, as I'm sure they arent the only ones who didn't know 😅
Can you do this on stream PC if you have the wave link set up on your gaming PC? Or is it all merged into one mix on the stream PC? Thanks! (Running a 4K 60 Graphics Card)
Is there a way to use one XLR mic streaming through OBS, and toggle mute it to where Xbox party can’t hear you while your yapping away on stream thanking viewers etc..?
i just got the wave 1 mic and every time i record with it my gameplay audio syncs with my mic track even tho they're separate tracks in obs. This solved my issue! thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Perfect! I just bought stream deck plus and been trying to split and failed hehe Edit: so I tried that and volume controls from wave link no longer work. Wouldnt it be a bit counter productive having a software to manage audio but doing this would cancel it all out?
What about OBS browser sources? (Twitch alerts, Blerp, bot overlays, etc). I’ve been struggling with this for AGES. I’ve now set it up like this but browser sources don’t seem to go through (I’ve set for monitor and output on OBS)…the typical way of outputting somehow fed the sources back through and would make it sound echoey 🙈
My computer and wave link had updates now all my audio is messed up. I have been trying to fix it and 7 hrs later only can get a few things working. I am unable to get my game volume to come through or my game volume. I am lost and would like to know what you think I should try first to figure out where the problem maybe
Can you also make a tutorial how to use the stream deck plus to mute/decrease/increase volume for specific channel while streaming? Like when streamintg I want my audience to hear the game sound not so load but I like hearing the game loud but I dont want to affect my Mic sound. Also how I can add audio sfx with a press of a button in stream deck plus to make my stream a bit entertaining. I also want my audience to either hear my discord team voice while playing sometimes i dont want them to hear because they can be so loud sometimes.
I did this but when I am recording Its recording everything to one track. I feel like I am missing something. I need to record to separate track. Please help
How it's simple to recording and streaming XD And I was been always wrong to split audio. Using Steelseries Engine And it helps a lot! Thank You! Masterpiece!
I'm confused. Wouldn't this make it where you wont need wavelink anymore? Since you can separately control all the volume levels? Im new to wavelink btw trying to set it up today. Im saying this cause I did this since I don't want music to play on vods. Unfortunately now the separate wavelink source will not transfer to my obs? Any help would be appreciated I am so confused haha. Im trying to figure out a way where I can use wavelink and separate the music so I wont get my vods muted. I love how you can hear both sound switch a click of a button it helps out a lot. Any help would be appreciated ! :) edit: issue I'm having the audio from wave link wont transfer to obs for some reason? so if I lower it on wavelink it wont lower on obs it will have all default audio levels. it will only move if I change it in the game application so basically if I click the hearing icon on wavelink it is practically useless. I would have to use obs audio settings if that makes sense.
I currently use voice meter potato and familiar with it. However I just picked up an XLR mic with the wave XLR. Is voice meter now redundant or did I not need to pickup wave XLR if I still want to use voicemeter
If you've just got a Wave XLR, download elgato "WaveLink" software and test it out! Wave Link and Voicemeeter are basically the same (You can still use voicemeeter if you want to) But IMO Wavelink is a little more Intuitive and simple to use and also works with stream decks etc so you can control your audio on the fly if you need to.. However if you now have an XLR mic then you need the wave XLR to connect that to your PC & wavelink is obviously included with that hardware

THis is the information ive been looking for, so no way to control the volume through wavelink doing this?
I’ve been putting off redoing my audio because I figured it would be so complicated with the wave link software. This helped immensely, thank you!
superb video, easy to follow and no unnecessary talking. I've watched loads trying to figure this out and got confused as they over explained and waffled on.
Bro, I can't tell you how much simpler this was than going through the native OBS. THANK YOU!
Good God I've been trying to figure this out off and on for a year! THANK YOU!!!
Hell yeah!!
Hope it helps 🔥
Awesome explanation! I found this all out by trial and error, so its nice to see someone has done a proper tutorial on it, good work!
Let me know if there's anything else you're struggling with or need help on?
One thing I did notice is that volume control no longer matters in Wavelink and has to be controlled in OBS instead. Am I missing something or is that just the way it is?
@@AirAssaultRandoyep, it went full volume on me and adjusting wavelink volume doesnt work anymore
