Crazy the stinger is actually a good bit heaviest then ct5v with basically same hp and much less torque. Stingers power and torque are both underrated from factory 330whp and the torque is really underrated. At basically 4200lbs it really makes closer to 400hp stock and easily over 400ft lbs tq stock. The 3.3tt has been out for a while but still puts in work💪🏼. The CT5 V is a great car one of my favorites in the segment. It’s easily the best handling not even close. Mag ride is no joke. Just wish the 3.0tt kept pulling it loses steam big time after 5k rpm.
The original purpose of the 3.0tt was more for luxury with some pep when it was in the CT6. Decent tq down low but wasn't intended for high speed performance. Hence why it seems to be gassed out in the top end. Theres not many luxo barges that need to go 100+ mph. They can do some tuning, but unless they change some of the internals and bolt-ons. It's going to lose in the top end to the competition.
@@99-Zulu alls the oem needs to do is tune it to pull uptop. They chose to give it way more torque then horsepower that usually means like you said good low end torque but dies uptop. They could have tuned it to say 380hp and 360tq and to redline around 6500rpm-7000rpm instead of redline 6k rpm. The stinger has slightly more tq then horsepower but pulls cleanly to 6500rpm redline. I don’t know the tuning potential of the Caddy 3.0tt I don’t even think they have any options out there for the CT5 V. The stinger just recently got ECU remapping options. Lap3 stage 2.5 ECU/TCU and some meth makes 500-520whp.
The AWD package and sunroof on the v actually make it a bit heavier. Options make it weigh 4,144 lbs. if you take the sunroof and awd off it sheds some weight and weighs 3,974

Pretty interesting that the Cadillac is actually the value proposition here TECHNICALLY. I don't know how budget basement the car starts but for 2023 at this range of horsepower the Kia actually starts a few grand more expensive than the Caddy. Who'd have seen that coming? Granted it's still faster and I don't think the Cadillac is smacking it down in feature content (ESPECIALLY at base-V). I'm sure the Caddy can add $$$ quickly. But the Stinger GT2 starts and ends, all things standard, at $53K whereas the V starts at $50K
I believed the ct5-v had better styling, a better interior + exhaust note and was around just as fast as the stinger. Easy choice for me. Plus I get a gm discount for 11% off.
I always thought that was weird too because when even when I look at the stinger and the genesis same engine same year around the same mileage, usually the stinger is still valued higher or prices higher then the luxury counterpart, on the used car market around my area
I want to buy a stinger but I might have to wait till prices come down. Can't justify spending close to 60k on a gt2. Kinda bittersweet they got rid of the gt1. If prices stay high I might put my luck on buying a used. Seriously love that car though. I'm a sucker for an amazing underdog.

Nice comparison! Thumbs up to the stinger. Is this was the Caddy CTS Vsport, the results would be different. The CT5-V is a downgrade compared to the CTS Vsport in performance.
It depends on what you are looking for in a car. If you are strictly looking for a straightline car then yeah its expensive. But like other V models it can be taken to the track and put down decent lap times. Which is the original intentions of the V cars. It's over 8 secs quicker than the Stinger GT at VIR. Even the lesser CT4 V is 5 secs quicker than the Stinger GT. Where the Stinger is only 10ths or even 100ths of sec quicker in a straightline. It will be embarrassed at a track or even curvy mountain or canyon roads for that matter.
Where exactly was the shocking result here? That went exactly as I would expect. Now if the CT5 would have destroyed the Stinger, that would have been shocking.

Could you maybe get the blackwing against an M5 competition or an E63s
Very cool I'm surprised 🤩👌thank you
Enjoy you show a lot, you give us all a great perspective without us doing it in the wrong racing environment (Da Street LOL)!
The Stinger will last longer than the Caddy.
Idk about that. Show me some evidence then. The cars aren’t even old enough for you to have any.

You acting like kia are reliable.😂😂😂😂
@@kromahj it is.

Buying a ct5-v on Monday. Figured it would be close too on this race.
Love mine.

KDM power baby
Is KDM better than JDM on performance
@@nanditareekara658 Sadly this is not a joke. Kdm has stepped up their game in the last few years. But I am still suspect about their engines. Too many recalls or engines not lasting past 100K

@@kromahj you clearly did since you commented you rancid swine
I'm guessing the caddy needs more time to be broken in? That Stinger is probably all broken in and lubed up, the caddy isn't
I have a 22 ct5 V RWD & am looking for upgrades. Any suggestions.
My two favorite car. I was waiting for my Stinger but got the CT5 v
It's funny to realise that a Kia would be te bench mark on such matchs..So sad that is was not a selling success as much as it a performance/price ratio is....Good one Sam, as always !!🤙👍
Great Video Team Stinger way to go keep up the good work
Whats the prizes what to do next?
Great runs. Just wish the stinger had a more menacing growl.
You don’t like hair dryers?
@@SuzukiKid400 as long as it whoops ass.
SAM you said the difference was the weight but the stinger ways more?
What is that blow off valve sound in stinger ... tunned?
Great racing between two well matched cars! Definitely was entertaining!👍
If both were in the same price range i,d choose the Caddy . It just makes more sense
Both cars I would love to have 🤑 currently in the kia K5 great daily car
Hi sam i loved your video. what about 1st gen gla45 against these v6 ? :P
The CT 5, CT 5 luxury, CT 5 premium luxury, CT 5 sport, CT 5 v and CT 5 v Black Wing. Six models.
I know guys that had the old 3.5 Altima R 4 door in manual and I can tell you that they were very fast and could probably give either of these 2 cars a run for their money.
First race
In the words of Apostle Paul to the CT5 V “ you started off well, but what hindered you “ 😁
Damn what a great race. Good job Sam
What!!! Stinger beats the CT5??? It's nuts!
Getting a ct5 v next spring
both bone stock ? Awesome match up !
Honestly if it's running a JB4 (like the particular Stinger likely was that SCL ran against a G70 a while back), you'd never know- it's adjustable by a mobile phone app.
Oh I’m definitely getting a stinger now.
As a previous owner of a 2018 Genesis G80 Sport I’ll tell you I’ve surprised so many times the 6cyl AMGs, 6cyl Vs, 6cyl Ms…that 3.3T engine is really powerful and has a linear power curve up to 240-250km/h. I almost tuned my engine to 435hp and 560lbs of torque but fuel prices and family of 4 had other plans for me 🤷🏼♂️😬
I love how the caddy sounds so similar to my 9-3 Aero, my motor is just a downsized platform with the same lgy base. Cool stuff
Thats funny you say that, i had a tuned Aroe Sport combi and , wow that sound just like my old Saab!!
@@chrismadson9479 that’s what I’m saying haha very similar sound, one of the better sounding v6s imo unlike most. I got the sportcombi aero :)
@@bpearr8266
I miss mine but not at the same time. I bought mine brand new in 07 and had 220k miles on it. The last 15k miles were a money pit! I though I was going to get shot sitting in bumper to bumper traffic when the alarm started going off...that was the end if it for me. Made the switch to Volvo. Got the closest thing out there to the sportcombi, got a 2020 V60 polestar and the 2020 T8 R design S90 for myself and my wife has a 2020 V60 Momentum. Love them, but still crank my neck when I spot a good looking Saab on the road!
BTW- raced the Stinger GT with my Polestar and wasted it. Im certain my S90 with same power (but alot heavier!) would have similar outcome 😁
The Cadillac looks and sounds better but for its price and power definitely expected more out of it.
Can you please race the K5 gt vs this ct5 v
lol
The Stinger does not disappoint again
We know the KIA will burst into flames quicker.
What's so great about his race, the Kia has a bigger V6 3.3 to the Cadillacs V6 3.0. The Kia is supposed to win just by the numbers?
After seeing this race. I want to see how the tlx-s stack up against both the ct4 and 5 v
Sadly, the tlx s is just slow compared to almost every single one of its competitors
Nice comparison! Thumbs up to the stinger. Is this was the Caddy CTS Vsport, the results would be different. The CT5-V is a downgrade compared to the CTS Vsport in performance.
CT5V way too expensive for what you get. It’s nice though
As a V2 V owner, this shouldn’t have a V badge unless it stays with or gaps an M340.
My mind says ct5 v but my wallet says stinger 😢
Where exactly was the shocking result here? That went exactly as I would expect. Now if the CT5 would have destroyed the Stinger, that would have been shocking.
It'd be nice to see the ford taurus sho in on one of these
So base in this race the TLX type S is a good match for the Cadillac very similar i
how do you assure these cars are stock? take owners word for it?
Both fast cars. I'd take the CT5 over the Stinger.
