20 ponies rescued from a life of misery

Twenty ponies rescued from a life of misery can finally look forward to a happy and secure future, thanks to the work of leading international horse charity; World Horse Welfare.
The group which consisted of mares, nine stallions and youngsters were a mixture of Shetlands and other native breeds and had been living in dangerous and squalid conditions for many months in the Lea Town and Rosemary Lane areas of Preston. The stallions had been left to fight each other and breed indiscriminately with the mares, many of which had foals at foot and were pregnant again.
World Horse Welfare Field Officer Chris Williamson along with the RSPCA were alerted to the plight of the ponies last year following a call from a concerned member of the public. Advice was given but on a repeat visit Chris discovered that conditions had deteriorated and the owner was issued with an Improvement Notice, giving him 21 days to improve the ponies living conditions.
The owner had been given numerous chances to improve the conditions that his ponies were living in and after he failed to act on the Improvement Notice we issued, we had no choice but to step in and remove the ponies, said Chris.
Wading through thick, putrid mud and living amongst nails, broken glass and jagged metal had been the only existence that many of the ponies had ever known.
Chris continues: After a long wait, it was fantastic to finally hear last week that all of the ponies will be officially signed into our care. This is great news, not only for the ponies, but also for the staff who have dedicated so much time into caring for them since January. It also means that we can now tell the story of their rescue and invite members of the public to come and meet them".

The little skewbald pony (the one with a white stripe on her wither/shoulder) is called Blossom and is now part of our family along with Briar who is also from Penny Farm. Blossom is the cutest pony ever and is very good, She is 100 % fit and healthy and we feel very lucky to have her and to be able to give her the love, care and attention she needs.

I'm 14 and I may be getting a horse soon. I have spent the last 4 years doing research and the last year riding. My advice is do lots of research and ride and try and do some work at stables nearby. Then you will be ready. 😊 Good luck!

Hello there! I live in the US. We have resue outfits also, love the work you all do. All of these animals deserve so much better than what was done to them previously. They all look wonderful. Herbie is stunning. Glad most all of these beasties will be rehomed. Horses are such a commitment, you have to know what you are getting into.
That was a total hell hole. It staggers me to see this sort of place. I am in shock.
I have total admiration and full respect for the people who rescue these horses on a daily basis. I couldn't do it. It would break my heart.
It's the Year of the Horse on the Chinese Lunar calendar, so it's most uplifting to watch this video to appreciate what wonderful creatures these are. What an excellent job saving them from a miserable existence. I'm sure they're all very grateful.

i wanted to be a singer a few months ago. then an actress, now, a person that works for World Horse Welfare. Horse's are the most bueatifull animals in the world.. u guys are the best. we love you all. if i could, i would donate a bajillion dollars to your organization. u are amazing.

Sometimes someone will get a horse with big plans for it, for example showjumping or eventing or even dressage. But when the horse can't jump or event, people will see no point in keeping them anymore. But if they can't do anything, nobody will buy them, so they just abandon them.

Animals that have to suffer through this kind of torment come out to be the best of their situation with a little bit of love. My personal opinion is the people who only sources and these animals and do these things to these animals should be housed maintained and given the same treatment that these animals are with no exceptions.
They should, it's not fair that these animals are subjected to living like this!!

I wish I lived there! I would come and volunteer! I have 4 horses, 1 mini and 3 miniature donkeys. They are all loved and very well cared for. I wish all horses and such were treated well. Thank you for what you do for those who are not.

Very pleased they were rescued as well as any others in terrible conditions. At our local riding school years ago the horses and ponies were in immaculate condition so it came as a shock to discover that many were not!! Keep up the good work and thanks!!

I have my owne pony and on of my friends have rescued horses 😄
There is some wonderfully pretty ponies and horses rescued, which in a way kinda makes it even harder to understand why they were ever allowed to get into this condition.
There is a great bunch or women caring for them from the finding to them getting better and getting let out as well animals, good on them, I hope they can get to know just how much respect we the public have for these girls who may well only be there part of the day but from experience I know that if possible for anyone to visit and or muck out and get to know the animals they like or are asked to take care of, it is important the horses get to know them and in the end maybe even come to actually expect that woman to be there at a particular time of day. Great people working hard, I thank you for working so hard, especially with those horses whom had infections and such, working or maybe I should say caring for these very stressed animals could really only be done because there is love before anything else, love makes the difference.
Personally I have always been scared of horses. I live in an area where there is lots of ‘back yard’ stables for 2-6 horses and they would trot past our house every day and sometimes I would get brave and hold a shaking hand out with an apple or carrot, frightened because I am small and the local horses I saw all the time had heads a lot larger than my body, and that was why I was so scared.
It doesn’t mean I do not love them and in fact I really love any horse seen on these many videos, thank you.
Take care and the best of wishes to every girl and every staff member and I wish them health wealth and happiness and it goes without saying I feel the same wishes for the important ‘people’ the animals!

People who treat animals like this deserve the death penalty. If we started giving such scumbags the proper justice they deserve, such animal abuse would end, one way or another.
You don't even have to sell them. I mean if your clearly going to abandoned an animal might as well just give them away to a loving person who will care for them unconditionaly. Just sad. I'm glad you helped all these ponies.

Ok, let me just spend all of my money on 20 ponies and then I'll just, hmmmm, oh I don't know I'll just leave them in a scrapyard and some of them in a field did I mention without food or water either. The mind of that horse abuser. So sad to see the horrible conditions that someone, who has no heart, left them in! God thank people like you!
