Hey everyone! Here I watched the classic 1987 action film; Predator, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger! This movie actually makes me wanna watch the next one and maybe get on an action binge, I don't know yet 👀 but I really like Predator as a monster/antagonist. His design is equally menacing as it feels realistic which I thought worked perfectly as a hunting villain (basically) in this movie. AND YES I REALIZED AT THE END ITS BECAUSE HE CAN MIMIC LAUGHS I DIDN'T PUT TWO AND TWO TOGETHER LOL
But I hope you guys enjoy!! Thank you so much 😊

@@hairywelder5188 I simp for her way better than anybody! You need to mind your own business!
GET TO THA CHAPPAAA!!!
What makes this movie so great is that starts off as your ordinary 80s action flick but slowly transforms into a horror film with the characters being stalked by the creature and taken out one by one.
Arnold is the Final Girl.
Seriously!! SO good
Word. This is why I think the opening scene should have been removed. Instead of just flat out telling us it’s an alien, let us find out along with the characters.
It was a very scary movie for me when I was a kid in 2005... 🤣 I love Jungle horror sci fi movies,, & this movie started all that craze for me... The environment was really scary... It feels outdated now but still it's one of favourite... The next Predator movie I really liked was Predators (2010), once again the reason was Jungle horror + Alien planet 🤣🤣
@@logann7942 that scene was put in due to the studio meddling at the last minute. The director did not want the scene but was forced into it.
I love the final thing the predator says “what the hell are you?” Has a double meaning, he wasn’t just mimicking what Arnold says he’s actually asking that question, because predator hunt our species and Arnold stopped him alone, he’s a different breed
I interpret it as if the predator is saying deep down he and Dutch aren't that different.
I wouldn’t be surprised if these hunts are simulcast back to the Predator homeworld. Maybe akin to something like Vegas betting pools.
When Dutch won the hunt somebody lost a lot of cash. But also the rest of the Predators realized humans had gotten to be a bigger challenge.
I just commented basically the same..wish I saw this b4..but I feel the same way the Predator was like what are you??? You won something that is not familiar to him
he speaks through his mimics as well, that laugh was billy's, so basically he speaks through phrases of people he's killed..which is even more creepy
When Dutch says "What the hell are you?" notice the pauses as Predator repeats it back, like "What the hell..ARE YOU?"
This is a great example of classic movies that prefer "show, not tell" politics in cinema -- long time ago authors respected their audience and treated everybody like true adults that could watch and analyze what they actually see on a screen. And I love to see people watching the movie for their first time and how they come to all the right conclusions -- "it hunts for sport", "it cant see through the mud", "it's too big to kill in one on one combat", etc. Predator is a movie with a simple-minded premise, yet it's smarter than most of modern flicks.
Plus, you know for movies then it benefited them to keep the creature reveal down to a minimum and only really towards the end of the movie do we see the full creature. It helps cut down on makeup time and cost!
@@RyoHazuki224 Not only that, but it leaves more to the imagination. What the audience doesn't see is often, far more frightening.
Also movies back then didn't look like videogames. Nowadays it's all cgi and no practical effects.
@@NympoGaming For a good special effects chuckle go back and watch the old Japanese Godzilla movies, lip sync and all. LOL
Probably the best "show not tell" movies I have recently seen is "Moon".
The movie is a hidden slasher movie disguised as an action movie, and Arnold is the "last girl."
Except neither black guy is the first to die
Predator's design was done by Stan Winston. Winston was quickly becoming a big name in creature design and creation. He'd done the make-up and endoskeleton effects in The Terminator, and the updated xenomorph design in Aliens. He went on to do (among many other things) Predator 2 (he put a funny little joke in the background which ended up spawning a whole series), the make-up and practical effects for Terminator 2: Judgment Day and Batman Returns, and the animatronic dinosaurs in Jurassic Park (including the full scale T-Rex). The guy was a legend.
Incorrect. You should actually look this up. Stan Winston did the costume, but ironically it was JAMES CAMERON'S idea whilst sitting next to Winston during a flight. Winston didn't know what to do with the Predator look and feel since the design originally worn by Jeanne Claude Van Dam was terrible. During the flight, Cameron offered to help so he sketched the face and other aspects of the look, which Winston used on the final costume. The mandible flaps, teeth and other iconic parts were all Cameron's idea based on that sketch during their flight.
Winston made it, Cameron invented it. Look this up.
@@Gus_Diaz_83 "You know, I've always wanted to see something with mandibles."
-James Cameron. LOL
@@Gus_Diaz_83 It was Arnold's idea to call Stan Winston after the first design (with Van Damme in it) turned out to be completely cheesy. And yeah the mandible was Cameron's idea.
While Stan Winston was awesome, let's not forget that it was his studio and a bunch of talented artists doing much of this, and not him personally creating everything mentioned. Not that I could tell you their names say for a couple of the more prominent ones, but he definitely wouldn't have gotten anywhere without them.
@@Gus_Diaz_83 incorrect. I made the design up. Look it up
The Predator's reason for being on Earth? It's pretty simple: He's on a hunting trip. To this race, the Hunt isn't just a sport or a means of survival, it's their religion and their way of life.
Yep, they don't see humans as intelligent, just primitive animals to hunt.
"He's on safari. The lions...the tigers...the bears...oh my."
25:55 "He knows he can't take him, he's way too strong."
100%!!
FUN FACT: The original script had it written in it that it was supposed to end with Arnold Schwarzenegger killing the Predator and winning in the one-on-one hand-to-hand fight, but it was changed at the last minute because Arnold himself was adamant and realistic enough to know that in a real fight, the Predator not only would've won but he would've mopped the floor with him (and he's very right to think that as Arnold stands at 6'2 tall while the Predator stands at a gigantic 7'3!)
So the ending was instead changed to Arnold winning the final fight through his wits and traps instead of his brute strength alone.
Really contrasts from actors like Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Vin Diesel, who fill the same kind of muscled/macho action flick hero roles in more recent(ish) years, who literally have it in their contracts they can't be beaten (which is why in Fast and Furious, their characters never lose fights, at best ending in a draw between each other).
Its comparatively such a show of differing mindsets that Arnold wanted to evoke the image of being on the backfoot for the theme of the film as opposed to being the obviously unbeatable hero for personal ego.
Its the fact it was Arnold at his peak that was scurrying around trying to outwit a more powerful creature that made the film stand out so much. It really hit that sweet spot between Arnold being Arnold and the Predator being shown as an otherworldly threat.
omg him winning a 1v1 fight against predator would've been dumb LOL glad they didnt go through with that. It would've been a "Bad Idea."
@@VKunia LOL 🤭
And a huge percent of luck that the Predator went around the trap and trigger, but stood right under the counterweight..!
He's always been that way. You can't tell if he's an egotist or not. It's like he doesn't care at all. Some egotists try to project power directly, most try to project it by pretending to be humble, cus they think that's how truly powerful people behave. Arnold just chills and smokes his stogies and has a laugh and lets his achievements do the talking.
The laugh the Predator makes at the end is actually a mimic of Billy's laugh from earlier in the movie 😀. Predator 2 is also fun!
One of the reasons for Hawkins crude jokes was especially to try to get Billy to laugh. If you remember Billy's laugh it was very loud and unmistakably his. And if you remember the Predator's laugh at the end it was him mimicking Billy's laugh. Very creepy that laugh!
And, Billy is shown to be very taciturn. So getting through that reserve was Hawkins’ goal…find a joke crude and funny enough to break through.
Kevin Peter Hall who was the helicopter pilot at the end of the movie was the guy that played Predator. They gave him a cameo for all the hard work he gave them in the costume.
You gotta love the brilliance of this movie.
The Tone shifts between each acts.
1st Act; looks like your average, run of the mill 80's testosterones filled action flick with Arny in it.
Where you see him and his crew showcase how bad ass they are, by delivering Freedom to Central Americans at 2000 rounds per minute, and where they " got no time to bleed".
2nd Act; they are hunted, out manoeuvred and played with by a Force better than them and with more firepower and advanced tactics.
Those "Sexual Tyronnosauruses" are now picked one by one, and the Tension is getting higher and higher, with the Tone shifting into a Thriller/Slasher/Horror movie.
3rd Act: All for it to SHIFT yet again, where the roles are inverted, Arny beeing the Predator and the Predator, beeng the Prey.
Where the Man resorts to primitive but efficient tactics, using the Predator advantage of the Terrain against it and even camouflaging himself.
All for it to end in a Brawl between the 2 Peak Representants of each respective species, till only one is left.
This is a Masterclass of pacing anf tigth script writting.
Plural would be Tyrannosaurs.
Maybe a masterclass in fixing a shitty script and rolling with the punches of last-minute changes...
Nothing in the production of this movie went right, and yet they managed to pull it off. That's fairly impressive.
great breakdown bro. love it. one of my favorite action movies of all time
@@yt45204 Well played.
This film is a master class in story structure. The opening action sequence sets up how amazingly badass the crew is, so when the Predator starts taking them out the audience recognizes his superiority on a different level.
The best part about this movie is that it is timeless.
What year did the events happen in?
It's been 35 years since this movie came out, and there is nothing to distinguish it from happening in 1970s or 2022.
She didn't like the jokester.
Anyone want to tell her who wrote Iron Man 3?
A nice bit of trivia, but he doesn't have any writing credits for Predator, so he probably didn't write those jokester lines.
@@LightWarriorK He writes The Predator Though
@@znyo0217 I had high hopes knowing he was involved, having been in the original… but it was as bad as his characters jokes, maybe worse.
In case no one has mentioned.... The actor who played the Predator was Kevin Peter Hall. He also had a cameo at the end as the black chopper pilot. He was a giant, standing over 7 feet tall. But he was a really nice guy in real life. Due to his unusual height he often landed creature roles. He was the primary predator in Predator 2. And he was Harry in Harry and The Hendersons. A movie about a family that befriends Bigfoot and brings him home. Its a fun, feel-good flick. In the early 1990s, Kevin Peter Hall was in a bad car accident and was rushed to the hospital. During surgery he was accidentally given contaminated blood and, sadly, passed away. RIP Kevin Peter Hall
This film is truly iconic! Not only is this movie one of the several others that shot Arnold Schwarzeneggar into super stardom, it was also very influential for video games as well.
For those that don’t know, Konami Video designer Hideo Kojima specifically drew inspiration from this movie into the Metal Gear Solid franchise more than once. The invisibility used by the predator was directly referenced and used for the Cyborg Ninja’s (AKA Gray Fox) Stealth camoflague in the first Metal Gear Solid (13:14), while the splinter face paint (6:30), various camoflauge uniforms and jungle terrain were heavy inspiration for Metal Solid Solid 3: Snake Eater.
Speaking of Konami.......The Konami NES video game CONTRA also re-purposed one of Arnold's iconic "Predator" poses for the cover and promo material.

Loved this reaction as I love all your others, V.
Poncho was a mercy kill depending on how you look at it. He was un/intentionally wounded by the log by the Plasma Caster and the Predator finished him quickly afterwards.
Remember Billy was certain they were all going to die, I think he was tired of running from certain death, he stopped to face it head on.
Most hunting IS "cheating". Hunting is inherently about the superiority of the predator/prey relationship. Using a weapon your prey could never use against you, hiding your scent and concealing your appearance to lure in your target. But you have to limit your advantage to keep it challenging. The Predator was hunting for sport until Arnold started hunting him back. Then it became a real challenge, something worthy of stripping the guns and armor, and going toe to toe.
The book (which has A LOT of changes from the movie, including making the Predator a shape-shifter) actually touches upon Billy a little more. It's stated that he has clairvoyant powers, and his people (he's said to be of Sioux descent) had actually fought a Predator before, making it a kind of generational rivalry/bloodmatch.
The Predators actually use their blades, spears, nets, and other ancient weapons more widely, because they are regarded as more honorable ways of hunting other than just using their active camouflage and plasma cannons. Also, predators fight with a code of honor that they cannot break. They can't hunt old people, children, pregnant women, or those who are too sick or weak to fight. Basically, they can't hurt anything or anyone that isn't a threat.
Fun fact: whenever I see my uncle he says “what happened to you Dylan, you used to be a man I could trust”. And in high school whenever I saw my history teacher would say “what happened to Dylan, government having a pushing too many pencils”… they don’t know each other, just a random coincidence, I wonder if a third person will start doing it too.

hope he got paid double for playing two separate characters
@@theawesomeman9821 in the making of, i believe it was a favor from the director to be the pilot so he could have his own face in the movie, he spent so much time in the predator suit and endured a lot and to not be recognised after the movie for that work isnt good for a career im guessing
@@KleskReaver cool
"He's using hacks!" Yeah, like human hunters do when they hunt animals. In this movie we're the hunted animal and the Predator is the far more equipped and capable hunter. The scifi stuff aside, the disparity between the hunter and the prey is really not that different. As for taking out the wounded guy, like human hunters he might have seen him as a wounded suffering animal and put him out of his misery.
That is what hunting is really about, playing with your prey while you use weapons and traps to make it safe for you, the challenge is in how much effort you have to put in getting the kill, it is not about the possibility of getting killed during the hunt, or the danger. This last part is the romanticized version of the hunt, for the crazy ones, the ones that have a death wish.
this guy speaks the truth. human hunters have camouflage tents, clothing, they got bait and sound devices. they got automatic rifles with 10x scopes, silencers, nightvision....like i dont see the "sport" or "fun" of hunting like that, especially when they take a picture of the kill like they earned something difficult. same thing as shooting a fish in a barrel to me. there is no real challenge. I have way more respect for a hunter going out there with a spear, a knife or bow/arrow and trying to hunt big game. u see tribal ppl walking around barefoot with spears in Africa...now thats a hunter.
This is the correct answer. He's not looking for an even fight. He's looking for a challenging but ultimately easy hunt. And Arnold earned his chance at an honorable battle.
@@RavagHer LoL, you sound like someone whose only experience of hunting are those deer hunter games in arcades with the big orange plastic light rifles.
@@RavagHer No that’s survival for food. Hunters like the predator hunt for the trophies, bragging rights and because it’s their culture. As the movies progress you see they do have some sort of honor code often enjoying one on one battles with the most worthy prey.
This is a must-see 80's classic. So glad you enjoyed it. The creature was created and designed by Stan Winston, the man who brought you the Terminator endoskeleton and the animatronic dinosaurs in Jurassic Park. He's created a number of memorable creatures and FX. Sadly, he passed away some time ago. Predator 2 is a pretty good sequel, which takes place in an entirely different jungle, Los Angeles, and stars Danny Glover.
So glad you reacted to this movie! It spends the first third of the film showcasing the group as the standard action hero types (heavy guns, one liners after kills, barely phased by being shot) and the rest of the movie showing that none of it really meant anything. I saw this in the theater with my father and we came in late so I never saw the Predator being dropped off and I think it made it even better not having any idea of what they were against. When the reveal came that it was an alien hunter, I was blown away.
Also, you have the most amazing wardrobe!
The Predators are basically analogous to human big game hunters. They like hunting humans because they pose a challenge. They observe and watch for particularly skilled fighters. If they're really impressed they like to go for one-on-one combat. It's implied that their home world is a hot tropical one, which is why they prefer to hunt on Earth during the hottest years, especially in the tropics.
The making of this movie was almost a movie plot in itself. The crew had technical problems, shooting location problems, weather problems, production was a mess and staff and actors (Arnold included) got a terrible diarrhea. It's a small miracle that Predator turned out to be so crazy good movie.
"There are guns in this movie"
Arnie: No Shit..
20:38 "Why he was the most defenseless one?" Yeah, but if you injure a creature while out hunting, it is best to put them down so that they don't suffer.
What I like about VKunia is that she's not picky with movies. She's likes everything for what they. That's the type of person who appreciate movies.
She reminds me of when I was 14 and every single movie I saw was the best movie ever. lol

20:35 "Why?! He was the most defenseless one!"
He was wounded. As a hunter the Predator knows that the most merciful thing to do with a wounded prey is to not let it suffer.
or he was aiming for Arnold
@@JohnSmith-qn3ob He doesn't miss with that laser aiming. He wanted to get rid of the baggage because he knows arnie isn't leaving a hurt soldier and would make the hunt not fair.
@@punkem733 Too bad the red targeting laser wasn't on when he shot Poncho. If you knew anything about Predators you'd know they want a challenge. Killing a weak injured person is not honorable.
Or did he just not want to loose his trophy... Or both
@@JohnSmith-qn3ob But putting a wounded, slowly dying prey out of it's misery rather than letting it suffer is honorable.
Dutch was standing still with Poncho leaning on his shoulder. He wasn't jerking around or moving. It was an easy shot for the Predator to make, yet he hit the injured man with massive internal injuries who was barely clinging to life. If Dutch had moved at the last moment, causing the Predator to hit Poncho through sheer bad luck then I'd chalk it up as a miss, but the implication is that he intentionally killed Poncho.
Dutch even mentions earlier that the Predator is hunting them for sport. Most recreational hunters have the common decency to not let an injured prey animal suffer, and as you said the Predator comes from a society where honor is important. Leaving a prey to die slowly and painfully would not have been honorable.
“I ain’t got time to bleed”
They don't make 'em like this anymore...
I have heard that the only reason we have that line is because Ventura (Navy vet) wanted a scene with Richard Chaves (Army vet).
The story about Predators is that They are Hunters, a few came to earth ( you’ll meet them on Predator 2 ) and they collect skulls from different creatures in the universe. This is one of my favorites actions movie ❣️
Fun fact: Predator's laugh at the end of the movie was a recording of Billy's laugh from earlier in the movie.
Kind of obvious.
@@30noir But she missed it
The Predator's last moments send shivers down my spine. He stopped before an easy kill, to analyse just what the hell this creature was that had nearly bested him. He wasn't like the other humans. Then he handicaps himself for a one-on-one duel to prove he's the superior hunter, and when he's finally bested, he asks Dutch's question back at him: "What the hell are you?" Then, to rub salt in the wound, he uses Dutch's friend's mimicked laugh to taunt him as he sets Dutch up for one final fuck-you from beyond the grave.
You learn so much about their culture and honour code from those moves.
I really appreciate that you watch movies like this with the context of the era they were made in mind.
Predator - the story of one man’s journey to the chopper.
Next to the xenomorph this has to be one of the best Alien designs ever it still looks amazing today.

one of the best action fiction, and one of the most convincing designs of an alien! Jean-Claude Van Damme was supposed to play the predator, but he gave up when he realized, that they will not allow him to demonstrate his karate skills. In fact, the original predator looks like a big rubber lobster, so maybe that's why he gave up!And now, the sad part - rest in peace, Sonny Landham( billy ).we remember you.
"I hate how satisfying it sounds"
"Snakes are sneaky in the jungle"

You got it when you pointed out how much the Predator's gear gives him an edge over Arnie and friends. He's like the hunter who buys all the high-tech toys to help him kill a deer before it even realized he's there. And then people kept trying to make him into a proud warrior race guy.
God I love this movie. I'm watching it again to get me pumped for Prey later this week. Great reaction V. Stay fresh
21:40 "He (Arnold) tries to be a good person" Have you read about the psychological and other things he did to insure his winning competitions? He's super competitive and will do all sorts of underhanded things to win. Sure when interviewed he's mister nice guy.
Strange facts about this movie:
-2 of the cast were elected state governors. Arnold, of course, became governor of California, and Jesse Ventura became governor of Minnesota.
-Sonny Landham (Billy) had to have bodyguards assigned to him by the studio, not to protect him from others, but to protect others from him, because of his crazy, erratic attitude.
-Jean-Claude Van Damme was supposed to play the Predator, but didn't enjoy the costume, and didn't look physically imposing next to the larger actors. He was replaced with Kevin Peter Hall, who also played the helicopter pilot at the end.
Kevin was also Harry in Harry and the Hendersons (Bigfoot)
Also. Jesse Ventura was a Navy Seal.
Also, Sonny Landham, who played Billy, would go on to _campaign_ to become governor of Kentucky.
Predators are basically intergalactic game hunters. They Go from planet to planet; hunting anything they consider worthy prey. The predator Arnold fought was impressed by his survivability and honored him with hand to hand combat.

This is probably the 6th or 7th reaction to 'Predator' I've seen, and it's baffles me that no one hears that the laugh at the end is the predator mimicking Billy laughing - indicating that he doesn't just repeat what he hears, but that he can actually understand the context, and use the sounds correctly.
27:40 ish
"They can mimic voices"
You're not the only one that noticed something about the voice one way or another.
Fun cinema fact, the voice of the predator is that of one Peter Cullen, aka "Optimus prime". Not a lot of people make the connection without the clue though
23:09 When you get off work on Friday ready for the weekend
You're absolutely right about how the Predator is on Hax. People go on and on about the Predator's 'code of honor' but... it's a hunter. Hunters never actually fight fair or really expect to lose. Sure there's an illusion of danger, there's giving a 'sporting chance' but that's not the same thing at all.
The sporting chance is for them, they get off on it
i actually think the rich guys who go hunt lions for the lolz have more of a chance of dying than the average predator vs average human. human vs lion: we have a tech advantage and intelligence advantage. predator vs human they have a tech strength advantage, about the same intellect and comparable speed.
At least the Preds will often close with their prey to finish them hand-to-hand. Almost every modern human hunter kills from a safe distance.
@@danieldickson8591 fair
@@danieldickson8591 True. Then again most modern hunters aren't going up against something weaker than they are.
despite being a fairly simple story, it doesn't get boring because the story progresses at a steady pace.
There's always some nee development
we see the guys > find mysterious bodies > kick some ass > get ass kicked > setup trap > trap fails > new trap > also fails > run away > 1 guy left, and he finds a key advantage (the mud) > becomes the hunter > fights the pred > gets knocked about > wins by a hair.
All the while the guys die one by one, while we see more and more of the pred.
This is why it's so entertaining, it never lets up, always moving.
It's worth reading up on Predator lore as there are a load of interesting facts about them. They're a race called the Yautja and they live for the hunt! They have a clan system and the more dangerous the prey they kill, the higher up in clan society they progress. They hunt humans because humans are an adaptive, dangerous species who weapons pose a worthy challenge to the hunters. They also have an honour system and won't attack unarmed opponents - or if a dangerous opponent is a female who is pregnant they won't kill them either.
I recommend watching Predator 2 - not as good as the first movie but still a good watch.
@23:08 He became Conan the Barbarian right there. Love that scene. 😎👍
Hawkins is Shane Black. He was there because they wanted a writer on set. I've never seen anything about why he went for such crass jokes, but it's clear he wanted to write something really over the line, and he gave them to himself so that no one else would have to take the blame.
They asked him to rewrite some dialogue since he was there and he said no, he was paid to be there as an actor not a writer. So they killed his character first.
19:49 "he's cheating... he's actually using hacks, right now... homie paid for the DLC and these are all noobs... it's not fair... it's not equal..." omfg I almost fell out of my chair, I love you so much for this dialog.
"Why Earth? Why us?"
Because the Predators, who hunt Aliens btw, consider Humanity to be one of the most challenging species to hunt and are considered one of the best showcases of skill if the Predator can actually manage to kill one of us.
No that isn't true. Humans are seen as Easy Game for predators. Yautja come to Earth to hunt humans to earn basic hunting skills. We aren't seen as the best showcase of skill. The best showcase of hunting skill for a predator is a Xenomorph. Once a Yautja kills a Xenomorph they are considered to be Blooded Predators. That's their rite of passage. Humans are easy prey.
@@tailssonicteam1604 Really? I heard it otherwise. That the Xenomorph is the first kill and that humans are for the Veterans. Is there some kind of official version somewhere to read?
I was lucky enough to visit the filming location for the Predator back in 2015. It's now a zip-line tourist attraction just outside of Puerto Vallarta. The enemy base camp seen at 8:44 is now a restaurant. They even have a life-sized statue of the Predator there!
Stan Winston's Predator suits from the first 2 movies are still, by far, the most realistic and scariest looking ones. And a lot of that has to do with Kevin Peter Hall's portrayal of the creature. The way he moves is so good. Almost everything since has looked like expensive cosplay. Really looking forward to the new movie Prey. A lot of hardcore fans have said it's the best since the original, so I'm excited.

I highly recommend "Commando" for great Arnie deadpan one liners and a high body count ! Big dumb 80s fun - you'll love it ! Its my favourite Arnie film :)
He wasn't seeing a heat signature. It was more like intelligently augmented vision. It was just too smart. It sampled mud first instead of flesh and it assumed it was solid dirt. The Predator prefers to see what it WANTS to see. And not have other things cluttering his vision. For instance, the Hot forest in the daytime is actually hotter than your body, but he barely saw nature at all. If it were simple thermal vision, or perhaps if The predator weren't using vision tech, Arnold would be dead, because he could indeed see Arnold. Arnold was just the wrong color with the tech. In that first mud scene, you see Arnold in there if you look.
Damn, Facts!
Good point. Which makes it extra funny that he challenges the alien at night, when it's cooler and his heat signature would be much more obvious.
The production team watered down the forest to cool it so only the actors would show up on thermal vision.
Think your reading too much into it mate
@@Paul_1971 in Predator 2, we see it in effect. When the Predator can't see the cloaked men, it goes through many filters until it sees what it needs to see. It's not just thermal vision. It looks like it but it focuses only on people. That takes artificial intelligence. The mud confused it. It's not overthinking it. Underthinking it makes it into a plot hole
VKunia description of Arnold in this movie(dirt on his face, has a machine gun) describes most of the movies he has been in lol 😂
I saw this in the theater, and at the time it was even more amazing, but it holds up super well after all these decades.
That’s crazy, I always thought everyone in theatre must’ve been so shook during 13:02
I’ve also searched a lot of the comment sections to look for someone whom was actually in theatre watching this as well 😊 it must’ve been 🔥 🔥 for the time it came out! This is one of my all time fave’s since childhood lol
3:11 I’ve gotten used to seeing a nuclear reaction at this part! 😂😂☢️
Predator 2 is a decent sequel and has some faces you may recognize, beyond that, is say Predators (with Adrian Brody) is very nice entry into the franchise as well.
Predator 2 is indeed good, as is Predators. I really enjoyed the new ‘prequel’, Prey. The worst one for me is The Predator (2018, directed by Shane Black)… why they tried to make it a comedy is beyond me 🤷🏻♂️
How I rank all the Predator movies:
Predator
Predator 2
Prey
Predators
Alien vs Predator
Alien vs Predator: Requiem
The Predator
@@CoffeeMatt10 Yeah, pretty much agreed, I might push Prey and Predators over Predator 2, as cool as it was to see more of them, weaponry, etc, I always had a hard time with the idea of Danny Glover as an action lead, I mean there's a reason even Arnold didn't defeat him straight 1v1 in the original.
5:21 🤣🤣🤣
That “bleh” got me 😭
17:00 “LIKE a chame- it’s-LIKE, similar to 😒” lmao had me laughing there
Predators leave skinned victims to intimidate other potential victims. The skinned ones are also usually ones they considered easy prey
They come to Earth to hunt
Yeah, they said the minigun’s name when they first brought it out. “Time to let Old Painless out the bag”
He actually said “Get to the choppa” a bit earlier, when Mac ran away, but he said it really fast
Yeah, mud definitely wouldn’t actually work. It would warm up very quickly
The moon is full for an instant, but to the naked eye it appears to last 3 days
Never really thought about how they made his face move. I would assume animatronics
He already mimicked at least one voice before. Mac. And that was Billy’s laugh he was mimicking at the end
They like the heat, and Earth has prey worth hunting
27:24 Nice to hear somebody acknowledge that. I was on an online discussion about this scene, not everyone picks up on the fact that Dutch feels sorry for the Predator, but one person got it completely wrong and claimed that he decides not to kill the Predator with the rock out of vengeance for killing his teammates.
"these are all noobs"
I get what you mean but the point of this team was precisely that they were the best at what they do. The Predators seek out the most dangerous prey they can and humans are some of the most popular, because of our ability to adapt. Yes he uses camo and energy weapons but he is also out numbered, his blood is a major disadvantage and in theory can be killed by a few bullets.
(oh and you can watch the sequel. It's decent but not as good as this perfect movie. From there the predator movies only get worse (except perhaps Predators))
I reeally didn't like the 2nd one. It had nowhere near the same feeling that this one did. And i didnt buy the ending at all.
"He's got some tight hammies right now". 🤣🤣🤣
Love this woman's reaction, seems so genuine compared to other reactions of this cult classic.
all the vocal sounds the predator makes, the clicking, the roar, and the laugh at the end were all performed by Peter Cullen, AKA the original voice of Optimus Prime.
His story of how he created the "voice" for the Predator is amazing and hilarious, too. The man's a true artist.
If you like Arnold, maybe check out The Running Man 🏃♂️ it's an often overlooked great action classic.
yes Yes YES !!!
VK: Oh he can't be dead, he can't be dead. That was way too easy.
AHhhh VK, you call that death. EASY!!
Facts you didn't know about the movie:
Jean Claude van Damme played the Predator in some parts of the movie, but quit production as he was tired of wearing the original suit which looked like a lizard insect hybrid.
He even wanted to kickbox Arnold but the producers refused.
Kevin Peter Hall, RIP, 7'2" was cast as the titular character as he was more of an intimidating opponent for Arnold's character Dutch.
Stan Winston Studios designed the PREDATOR suit and would later return to the franchise for PREDATOR 2 in 1990.
Half the cast and crew got food poisoning except for Arnold and Director McTiernan whom ate Spaghetti O's and PBJ Sandwiches.
Arnold would later hire his own personal Chef to give the actors the food they needed.
Sonny Landham RIP whom played Billy hired a bodyguard to protect people from him as he was prone to violent outbursts.
Landham said in an interview that "We weren't making a movie, it was a survival story for all of us."
It rained for 2 weeks making filming even more difficult.
It was 110 degrees in the shade, while it was 42 degrees at night.
The film was a box office success making $100 million dollars ($350 million dollars today) against an $18 million dollar budget.
It was nominated for Best Visual Effects but lost to InnerSpace.
no, james cameron designed Predator
The Predator with keen observation, saw that Dutch was in charge so he saved him for last. You said at one point, "why did he kill him, he was defenseless" when they were heading to the chopper. The Predator came here looking for a challenge, he wasn't about to let Dutch leave, by killing the last guy, he was hoping Dutch would engage in combat and he did. We could also assume that the Predator has visited other planets looking for challenges and that Earth was just the next inhabited planet on their list.
The predators unmasking is iconic 👏
What a great movie. Also, "They don't even know if they're shooting at the hostages!" If they're shooting at you, they're the bad guys. Also the guy who wore the Predator suit/costume is Keven Peter-Hall. He was 7'2 (passed away in 1991).
"If it bleeds, we can kill it" is my life motto.
It's too bad the studio wanted the opening shot of the alien ship put into the movie. The director's original vision was to make people think they were watching a typical Schwarzenegger, military, shoot'em-up; and then have it slowly morph into a sci-fi horror film. The movie is still a masterpiece of action/horror, but I can't help but think about how crazy a twist that would have been without that opening scene to tip the movie's hand.
Not many reactors figure the "Oh, those are his trophies!"-part on their own. I mean, yes, a cute reactor, but observations at this level make reaction enjoyable for me.
Guess I'll have to do some digging if VKunia has seen True Lies yet.
The predator's home civilization actually tells stories and praises Arnold's character as being one of few who's bested one of their warriors. A great honor in their culture.
Would you consider reacting to Planet of the Apes from 1968?
Theirs alot of layers.Jean Claude Van Damm was in the Predator suit, but quit because they told him he wasn't going to get a screen credit.Arnold and the actors would train early in the the morning before shooting the film.Jesse Van Tura was an ex Navy SEAL.The strange part was the actor that played the Predator, died of AIDS.He contracted it because he got into a car accident and needed a blood transfusion and that was right before blood was tested for HIV.
The only problem I have with this movie is the exact one I have with John Carpenter’s The Thing.
Both first shots of the movies show an alien spacecraft coming to Earth, thereby ruining whatever mystery there could have been to what exactly the protagonists are up against.
Also, both movies have the characters near the end of the 2nd act, finally figuring out how the monsters work, thereby attempting to make some smart decisions, yet they still somehow get axed off, except for the final character and one supporting character.
Imagine running for your life, trying to escape an imminent blast from an alien while it's emitting a distorted laugh of your dead friend.
This was great timing! Now that you've seen the original, the prequel that just came out on Hulu, "Prey" is really good! Watch it!
The Predator in this movie and its sequel was played by the late Kevin Peter Hall. The 7' 2" actor also played "Harry" the sasquatch in Harry and the Henderson's (both the movie and TV series). RIP
@@videogames-movies-tv Wasn't sure anyone would know about MoS. Sadly, it was only on for 1 season. Also co-starred Courtney Cox (her first role ?)
@@videogames-movies-tv I've seen it. It was fun.
24:47 "How he find him?" Predator's computer calculated the trajectory of the rock back to its starting point.
Fun fact: Jean Claude Van Damme was cast as the Predator, but he acted like a diva on-set.
He did not like the humidity amongst other things when being on the warm location.
So he got replaced by the helicopter pilot (Kevin Peter Hall) that flies them out at the end of the movie.
When Mac is repeating " gonna have some fun" I always hear Venkman's ( Bill Murray/Ghostbusters) voice saying " Mac has gone bye bye Egon ".. cause Mac is pretty much losing his head at that point
"Snakes are sneaky in the jungle" 🤣
omg I love you so much. 💗 my new favorite saying 😅
VKunia: I hate gore!
also Vkunia: Watches an 80s action movie with Arnold and tons of gore in it.
Lovely. So adorable :D
Predator is debatable the best action movie every (T2, Aliens, Die Hard are contenders of course). The plot is perfect. I love the role reversals. The first act, an elite special forces team absolutely demolishes the guerrillas. Next act, they are the inferiors force. The final act, Arnold gets the upper hand on camouflage and the Predator indiscriminately fires (mirroring the team firing into the jungle when they couldn't see in the previous act).
The predator mimicking Billy's laugh at the end...always 🥶
The original predator design was more of a insect looking thing with a harpoon gun as one arm. The costume was originally worn by Jean Claude Van Dam. However, the suit being uncomfortable and butting heads with the direct, he left production. The Predator was redesigned into what we see and they cast Kevin Peter Hall who stands at near 7ft tall. He also played the black helicopter pilot at the end of the movie. He has also played Bigfoot in Harry and the Henderson and played in a short lived 80s sci-Fi TV show called Misfits of Science along with Courtney Cox.
