Good movie that launched one of the best sci fi series ever, Stargate SG-1! Highly recommend checking out the series when and if you have the time, great cast with amazing chemistry, not to mention great writers, and creators who actually wanted the show to be as scientifically accurate as possible, despite the whole premise of the show being based entirely on theoretical physics.

I retired from the Air Force in 2019. Stargate SG-1 was definitely the show to watch (we always had it playing in our ready room on 1st Friday). Just reading the comments, I think a lot of us would love to see you enjoy SG-1 too.
did you know, At the Air Force Association's 57th Annual Air Force Anniversary Dinner in Washington, D.C., on September 14, 2004, then-Air Force Chief-of-Staff General John P. Jumper presented Anderson with an award for his role as star and executive producer of Stargate SG-1, a series which portrayed the Air Force in a positive light from its premiere. Anderson was also made an honorary Air Force brigadier general. is listed on wikipedia.

Definitely I would. It seems like Stargate is slowly becoming a little more popular these days and I'm loving every second of it, been watching and rewatching it since early 2000s and never had other people to talk to about it

I saw it three times in the theater. I think most people today don’t realize this was the first film to explore the idea of ancient aliens, outside of the old chariots of the gods doc. But for teenage me back then, it was my first exposure to the idea and I was already fascinated by ancient Egypt and aliens and loved sci-fi, so it was a perfect storm of a film for me. Then the series a few years later, excellent.
One of the most remarkable things for me about the movie: A budget of 55 million dollar. In words: FIFTY FIVE! This movie is , to me, the best proof, that you don't need a gigantic budget for a good movie. Just a good script, cast and a dedicated director.
98.67 million adjusted for inflation. Still a decent chunk of change. I agree with you though. Problem nowadays is studios won't greenlight movies or projects that have original ideas, they'd rather play it safe w/ formulaic predictable movies.
"They can't just open the Stargate randomly so they can come back?" I don't think it's even mentioned in this film, but the portal flows one way. They have to open it from their side to get back. That's how it works in the rest of the franchise, anyway.
@@BK45AUS Dial every last symbol possibility, toss in it's symbol... then wait for earth to open it up again and toss the right one back? Brute force problem solving.
They definitely do a way better job explaining it in the TV Series… the first 6 characters establish position of the destination using X, Y, Z coordinates and the 7th symbol is the planet of origin…
Stargate is such a good film. It's an action adventure film with a heart of gold, while being just a bit wonky and off-kilter. Not only does it contain a redemption arc, but the nerds triumph in the end. Also, the payoff where Ra dies like Wile E. Coyote with that "it was at this moment he knew he fucked up" face is worth the price of admission.
Hey. I've been wondering where you are. I hope you are well. I still remember your live-stream conversation with Sargon. It is one of my all-time favorites. SJW 9000 ... Flame on.
Oh yes me and my dad are the same way. We both remember a lot of the episodes quite clearly to this day both for the humour, science and emotional moments. Great memories and will definitely continue to watch into the future.
As someone said already.... follow up tv shows are very good. Especially SG-1, and later on Atlantis. They continue story and brought some characters back (with new actors). Worth to watch.
Agreed. RDA and Shanks played very good follow-ons for Russell and Spader. I even like Corin Nemec later in the series. It's definitely way too much content for a channel like this though. I think the only original actors to return were Kawalsky and the old lady. I love the expansion to non-egyptian mythology as well.
The Showtime season's are are bit dated, but once it hits its stride the series just keeps getting better. And Atlantis starts strong and never stops. But yeah, reacting to it would be a longtime commitment.
@@MandoWookie that would be deffently, average episodes per season off SG1 is 22, and that 10 seasons long. if you watch on average 1 season a day, you talk about 42 min per episode including intro and credits is 924 min of watch time on 22 episodes, that x 10 is in total 9,240 min watch time. i know got al 10 seasons on my extern hard drive, and watch them all in 1 go took me in total whole week to watch it with no sleep.
You could already see here many of the visual elements that Roland Emmerich used for later movies. The nuclear explosion, the pyramid spaceship lighting up, the small ships shooting beans. All of that is in Independence Day too.
I was 14 and all into ancient aliens (my dad was a Von Däniken nerd) and we just did egyptology in history class when this came out. It really hit the spot. Even though I've since grown out of both, it will have a place in my heart.
If you love mythology mixed in with science fiction, Stargate SG1 is your show. Great writing that’s more or less grounded with actual scientific theory (most of the time), episodes that build on one another throughout the series, all brought together by a phenomenal cast of characters whose growth and interactions really make this the best science fiction series in my opinion.
I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you. In the earlier series, it's like they only did 1 episode at a time, There are numerous episodes that should have had a follow on, like the Crystal Skull episode. Later on there was some follow on episodes to some previous ones, but nothing really that shows a multi-dimensional story. I did like most of SG1 but to me it was pretty one tracked, and so when the Gou'ld were finally defeated, all they did was introduce yet another all powerful enemy....... No follow on post Gou'ld life etc, with somewhat equal or not too far advanced races for us to encounter. For me the only next step that they could have taken after SG1 would have infringed on Star Trek That is the use space ships to explore worlds that we were "unable to dial" using the Gate.
"1994... I'll try to let it slide". I'm sure the multi million dollar production team appreciates you, a UA-cam reactor, letting them slide on this one.
The unexplained or exceptions that science ignores... It's always either magic or aliens sometimes both magic aliens. Like the the og Florida man Ed Leeskalnin.
@JamesNeave1978 There were some local communities memes within forums and some manged to spill over to other communities but yea proper memes were quite rare Edit: And it was pretty much a nerds-only phenomenon
What’s cool about the scene where Daniel is learning their language from the cave paintings is that we don’t precisely know how Ancient Egyptian sounded because they only wrote down consonants. While it’s possible to guess at the vowels based on languages descended from Ancient Egyptian, the guesses could be wrong thanks to linguistic drift. So he’s saying what he thinks the word sounds like, and Sha’uri is correcting him with a different pronunciation (but same basic consonants). Once he has a firm grasp on the vowels, he’s able to communicate freely
I have never seen anyone react to this, one of my favorite movies! It was such a sleeper hit when it came out in 1994 and really popularized the "ancient alien" pop culture trend. The TV series SG1 is also fantastic! It took some getting used to as at first it seemed so different in many ways, but the spirit of Stargate lived on, and did an amazing job at it!
"No one should ever have to outlive their own child." Universal wisdom, right there. I mean, under _normal_ circumstances, tragedy can be _minimized,_ but not _eliminated._ Under _normal_ circumstances, one outlives one's _grandparents,_ and one's _parents._ That's tragic, but it's part of the natural _order_ of things. It's a unique _kind_ of tragedy, though, when one outlives one's own _children._ There, something's gone wrong; _personally_ wrong.
I love this movie! and a few fun things to know.. For the movie, the indigenous people are actually speaking ancient Egyptian ( the linguist hired for the film practically insisted on it). Also during filming this movie, Roland Emmerich came up with the idea of Independence day.
@@rvelezbarreda Agreed. I just named SG-1 since it's more or less a follow-up to the movie, but I enjoy Atlantis as well and guessed that if she liked SG-1, she'd probably move onto Atlantis naturally. I just never got into SGU except for a couple episodes.
@@Krex_YT SGU it's slower than the others, very different, there's not as much action, I watched it all, but I didn't like it that much, and neither did the audience since it only had two seasons
@@Krex_YT Anyway, SG-1 alone has 214 episodes, spread over 10 seasons, and 2 movies. There are too many episodes for a reaction channel, to see everything would take almost an entire year, dedicated exclusively to the series.

10:40 and 26:15 - I don't seem to remember the Empire factoring into this movie. LOL But seriously, I love this movie and all of the TV shows that came after it. It will take some time to get thru the 17 seasons combined of the shows, but it's so worth it.
yes - it's worth repeating. But, in my opinion, tho SGate was excelent, Atlantis had a better range of characters (with Rodney being the cherry on top) and better stories.
I always wished we'd seen more cats among the aliens in the follow-up shows to this movie. It always appealed to me that creatures with the mindset of the aliens like Ra would be inclined to enjoy the company of cats more than other animals.
One of the greatest sci-fi movies ever made that led to one of the greatest TV shows ever made. When I first saw the commercials for this movie, I was like "This is going to be crap." But I went to see it anyway because I was just really getting into movies at that time, and I was BLOWN AWAY by the unexpected storyline. Loved it! I was so happy when they made a TV series that was actually BETTER than the movie.
Also if you get into the series and spin-off Atlantis. Atlantis has someone that is in a lot of things, I consider it his first role. Jason Momoa.(GOT, Aquaman)
This was the first of the Roland Emmerich - Dean Devlin trio of movies to be scored by David Arnold. Next was Independence Day, and then Godzilla. Such a great composer. Kurt Russell's hair is full-on J.J. Jameson. "I would have put a coffee mug on top of it" 😂
As many have already commented, This movie kicked off a franchise that came close to mimicking Star Trek. The Original TV series was Stargate SG1, which lasted 10 seasons and almost maintained the same cast for all 10 seasons. Then there were two spin-off series and several other movies that came out of SG1. The first spin-off was Stargate Atlantis, which I thought was pretty good, it lasted 5 seasons and then there was Stargate Universe, which I never really got into. It only lasted 2 seasons
YES! this is one movie that i hardly see people reacting to. I love this movie and the series that were developed from it. you have no idea the doorway you are gonna step through if you watch the series!
24:36 "This is ha- heh heh- This is so tense." That's the effect of the ticking clock. That's the effect of a ticking clock in _most_ thrillers. The good guys are pushing/fighting for something, the bad guys are trying to _stop_ 'em, and if the good guys don't successfully pull it off within a clearly-delineated _time_ limit, disaster happens and everybody dies.
I feel pretty much the same about the movie, like it, don't love it. But the series is perhaps my favorite TV show ever. If you start posting videos of StarGate SG-1 reactions, I'll be here for every last one of them. :D
I thought the love story in this was perfect. One of the highlights of the movie. She is brave, smart and really hot. And she had a story arc...from shy to brave...from follower to leader (telling the younger boys what was going on). It was a very good sub plot.
Re: the love story subplot They probably felt there needed a little extra incentive for Daniel to remain, not sure if they'd planned follow up films for this one, but it does work out quite well for the series.
Hollywood movies need love story subplot to be "complete". Because who doesn't like love ? It is an easy theme which everyone can connect to it. But usually those plots feel forced and un-natural
"Or at least throw some pencils in... see if anybody throws it back." Can't. The wormholes are unidirectional, based on the originating gate. They'd have to terminate the connection, then initiate a new wormhole from the destination gate in order to throw the pencils back. (OK, that was some excessive nerding from the subsequent series)
I enjoyed the film and your reactions. It's hard to make a technology realistic when it doesn't exist but the film makers did a good job. The one thing that irked me were the airmen assigned to go thru the Gate with O'neill and Jackson. They were supposed to be highly trained special ops people but they acted like a bunch of dumb grunts, even Major Kowalski. Good job young lady.
Sam Todd, you're quite correct right about the behavior of the special ops guys, those guys are wayyyy more professional than that,I've seen them in action in Iraq.GOOD JOES.We'd chat with them when they'd come thru our checkpoints in Iraq.I didn't like how they were protrayed either.
Aye, unfortunately they fell into the post Vietnam stereotypical Hollywood portrayal of ‘The Jarhead soldiers”, big dumb and looking to blow things up.
Everyone saying "watch Stargate SG-1" is right! The show is a canon continuation of The Movie that carries the spirit through all ten seasons. Unlike other shows simply based on movies, SG-1 doesn't cut its roots after the first few seasons. It feels like a natural progression from the adventure in The Movie, which becomes the tip of the iceberg or pyramid, if you will. Watch the first episode and you see what we mean.
VKunia: "I wonder how the son shot himself story will come back...He freaked out when he touched the gun because he knew he would shoot himself" I've watched this movie since 1994 and I never even stopped to consider that part of O'Neil's freakout when the kid was reaching for the gun was related to the trauma of his son's death! VKunia sometimes has some amazing insights when watching these movies.
The mastadge, the animal Daniel finds after arriving on Abydos is in fact, a horse in a costume 23:28 the dead warrior is played by Djimon Hounsou in his one of his earliest roles 25:16 when they beheaded Anubis, Ra got his hand cut off at the same time the same way
Thank you SO much for bringing more Stargate reactions for us here on UA-cam! 💕 Please be the first woman on UA-cam to react to the entire series! You will 100% really, really like it! 👌😮 If you are afraid of the amount of episodes, you could do longer videos and include like 3 episodes, that works for other creators for different shows. 😊 Literally THE best Sci-Fi series.
your "send more probes" comment cracked me up! I open the Stargate every year (in September) and watch the series every other year. the director Roland Emmerich also did "Independence Day" and "The Patriot"
Stargate SG-1 was a fantastic series based on this movie, highly recommend. I loved this movie and was glad I saw it in the theater :) Love your reactions :)
true, infact very first episode starts where the movie ended, but 1 year later when colonel O'neill trew box off tissue true the gate where daniel was staying.
The TV show that followed (Stargate SG-1) remains one of my favorite Sci-fi shows to this day, hope we get to see you react to some (or better yet: all) of those episodes :)
Even if you don't watch the whole thing, the Pilot Episode of SG-1 (Children of the Gods Part 1&2) is a great follow-up to this movie. It is rated R for some nudity, but other than that is really great fun.
Congratulations again on 100,000! Saw this movie at the Fort Knox theater after basic training with 100% trainees. We all died when the distance humans incorrectly saluted. Lol
They left out the part about the gun Being O'neill's own service weapon. Also V, I don't actually think putting it under the pillow was a conscious, pre-planned idea; more like a convenient hiding spot from them seeing him with it. Just my thoughts on it, though.

If you do decide to watch the series either on your channel or on your own, I suggest watching the remastered pilot episode: Children of the Gods. The producers went back and cleaned up the first episode and they honestly made it much more enjoyable. It was originally just straight to dvd/Blu-ray, but you can buy/rent it on Amazon Prime.
Came here to say this. I find the first season a little messy as the series is still finding its place and tone, etc., but for me, it really picked up season 2 (with the introduction of the Tok'ra). And the remastered pilot of "Children of the Gods" is definitely the way to go.
I saw this in the theater and as we headed to our traditional post-movie dinner and discussion, I told my friends that I could definitely see this being turned into a television series. My friends laughed at me as such a thing, movie to television series, had only happened once to our recollection: _'The Ghost and Mrs. Muir'_ . Flashforward a bit of time and the series comes out (first on Showtime and later regular television) and I get to have my 'I told you so' moment.
As someone who loves both scien-fiction movies and historical movies, I love StarGate. Went to see it with my dad when I was a 14. The TV series was alos great, according to lat '90 - 2000' standarts...
If you liked this, you'd love the show that this spawned (Stargate SG-1). It's definitely one of the best Sy-fi shows out there. It's quite a long show, but it has a great cast of characters. If you do ever watch it (either on your own time or for UA-cam) just know most of the characters did get recast.
If you want a really amazing sci tv show you should check of the stargate shows. Stargate is one of the best sci fi tv series ever. Iv seen everything stargate!
Love this movie! Great reaction. The series is also great, even though the actors are different. You should definitely watch it, even if you don’t do a reaction video for it. In fact, I think I’m gonna go back and rewatch it!
This blew my mind when I first saw it. I'm a sci-fi geek so it was right up my alley. And then the show came out and built even more lore on top of it. Definitely recommend it to anyone that hasn't seen SG-1.
To be honest I did not enjoy this reaction video, though I do love this film and usually your channel. It seemed at least to me like you were not really giving the film a chance or your full attention, which would prevent you from being swept up or invested in the story and would invariably affect your perception and connection with the characters. You were making a lot of jokes and talking over a lot of quite important dialogue moments. I know its a reaction video and you want to be entertaining but the point is to watch the film that others have seen and recommended to you, its your reaction to the film they are watching not a comedy spoofing of the film. I know that sounds harsh but their are several quite important scenes and character moments that you either did not hear or did not get the significance of because you did not seem to be paying as much attention as you usually do. I'm not saying this to be a jerk or because I am a die hard fan of Stargate but because it does affect my enjoyment of these reaction videos watching and thinking "she's not really paying attention". We all have friends whom we have been trying to get them to watch something for a while thinking they will enjoy and then they finally relent but part of you knows they are just humouring you and wont really give it a chance. Sorry to say that's what this reaction video felt like. Its a reaction video and of course you are supposed to talk but the moments you did were unusual as you frequently spoke over characters dialogue or you were making jokes during dramatic moments pretty early in the film which made it look like you were not really watching it with the same intent or attention as you usually do. This to me would affect your enjoyment of the film more than anything as so much of the content meant to sweep you up in the story or make connection with the characters is lost. The O'Niel scene in his sons bedroom is pretty early on in the film and its very obvious just by looking at his face how heart broken and in despair he is, so the significance of hiding the gun the moment anyone comes in his sons room is very evident and tells you a lot about the character without words, where he is in his heart and head. At no point did you see this, you were watching but not really. Sorry. I am a fan of your channel I promise and have been since roughly 17K subs but I had to be honest and I hope you will take this as it is intended just a reminder why people do like you videos but for me this one was not great and not because of what you were watching but because of the way you were watching. Unfortunately means you did not really see this film as it was intended to be seen and I think that will have affected your enjoyment of it and mine seeing you review it.
"We all have friends whom we have been trying to get them to watch something for a while thinking they will enjoy and then they finally relent but part of you knows they are just humouring you and wont really give it a chance." Could not agree more!
You said it perfectly. Just clicking on the little "like" button on your comment didn't seem like enough though. I've been a patron of vk's for a while, like her videos, I'm not a rabid Stargate fan but this react really left a sour taste in my mouth. I guess everyone has an off day (?)
@@irridiastarfire Thanks for the post, glad to hear it was not just me who thought this reaction video was bit off.
@@jayeisenhardt1337 except you never know where any successful combinations are going, kinda the premise of the series.

Flame on.
My dad and I bonded over this film and the TV series that spun off of this movie.
I love this movie
Also, most everyone thinks the romance is forced
Oh yes me and my dad are the same way. We both remember a lot of the episodes quite clearly to this day both for the humour, science and emotional moments. Great memories and will definitely continue to watch into the future.
Whoa… was not expecting this! Great movie, even greater TV Series
As someone said already.... follow up tv shows are very good. Especially SG-1, and later on Atlantis. They continue story and brought some characters back (with new actors). Worth to watch.
Both SG-1 and Atlantis are very re-watchable :D
Atlantis was were they found Jason Momoa for GoT isn't it? 🤔🤔
Daniel definitely takes “mail order bride” to a whole new level.
So glad you've watched this as it lead on to a absolutely massive franchise so freaking good.
"1994, I'll let it slide." Was she bitten by a 1994 once, or something?
David Arnold's score for this film is incredible. Really wish he'd go back to composing for big-budget Hollywood movies.
You could already see here many of the visual elements that Roland Emmerich used for later movies. The nuclear explosion, the pyramid spaceship lighting up, the small ships shooting beans. All of that is in Independence Day too.
"IN THE MIDDLE OF MY BACK-SWING?!"
You should seriously consider watching the SG1 series and sharing some of your favourite episodes.
I was 14 and all into ancient aliens (my dad was a Von Däniken nerd) and we just did egyptology in history class when this came out. It really hit the spot. Even though I've since grown out of both, it will have a place in my heart.
I heard Paul W S Anderson (I think) made AvP with Von Daniken in mind. Wonder if he ever directed an episode or a special of SG-1...
Classic movie that launched some of the best Scifi TV shows ever made. Glad to see it got another fan.

@@oaf-77 Indeed.
@@robertchurch5646 Has anyone ever pointed out you say that a lot? :P :)
@@Noisemarine Really, I have not noticed.
I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you.
In the earlier series, it's like they only did 1 episode at a time,
There are numerous episodes that should have had a follow on, like the Crystal Skull episode.
For me the only next step that they could have taken after SG1 would have infringed on Star Trek
That is the use space ships to explore worlds that we were "unable to dial" using the Gate.
"1994... I'll try to let it slide". I'm sure the multi million dollar production team appreciates you, a UA-cam reactor, letting them slide on this one.
It's a joke fool , calm down.
Right? Back it down 😂
"It's like a water pool thing" Yep, and I think why the star ships designed to be sent through the Star Gates are called "Puddlejumpers"

10:40 are we not going to talk about the fact there seems to be an AT-AT sneaking into the background?? 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️😂😂
Good catch! 😀
‘You went to an alien planet, now you get probed in the Anubis… I mean by Anubis’
"No one should ever have to outlive their own child."
Universal wisdom, right there.
Between "Gate," "Trek," "Wars" and "Search," this is easily my third favorite "Star"-themed franchise...
Just started watching, but if you enjoy it there were a few series following in the storyline. Stargate SG-1 was especially good.
Even if you don't react to it, I'd recommend watching.
@@Krex_YT Stargate Atlantis also was very good.
@@Krex_YT SGU it's slower than the others, very different, there's not as much action, I watched it all, but I didn't like it that much, and neither did the audience since it only had two seasons

yes - it's worth repeating. But, in my opinion, tho SGate was excelent, Atlantis had a better range of characters (with Rodney being the cherry on top) and better stories.
"Will you be okay?"
"Yeah, I think I will."
Setting off a nuke better than therapy confirmed.
I watched this 6 years ago, and got hooked, and then got hooked on watching the series’s that followed.
LMAO when someone thinks that a critically acclaimed movie that spawned a number of equally acclaimed hit shows is "surprisingly good" xD
Jameson. "I would have put a coffee mug on top of it" 😂
Being in the military, I was thinking more of Guile.
24:36 "This is ha- heh heh- This is so tense."
That's the effect of the ticking clock. That's the effect of a ticking clock in _most_ thrillers. I feel pretty much the same about the movie, like it, don't love it. But the series is perhaps my favorite TV show ever. If you start posting videos of StarGate SG-1 reactions, I'll be here for every last one of them. :D
Okay, now that you've seen the first movie, it's now time to start watching the follow-up show. All 17 seasons and 2 movies. Trust me, it gets better.
This is the only role of James Spader’s that he doesn’t creep me out!
James Spader. Thats his name. I can never remember his name. Though Daniel Jacksok for me will always be Michael Shanks.
I thought the love story in this was perfect. One of the highlights of the movie. She is brave, smart and really hot. And she had a story arc...from shy to brave...from follower to leader (telling the younger boys what was going on). It was a very good sub plot.
Man, you were good with this one. Each guess, right on the nose. The sand storm, where the people came from, what the basic plot was. Nicely done.
She kept calling the Aliens "normal people" lol how is that on the nose?
Yeah, what a genius, she guessed the term “star gate” during the movie Stargate.
Awesome! Between the 3 movies and 17 total seasons of television, this is by far one of my favorite sci-fi franchises.
Re: the love story subplot
They probably felt there needed a little extra incentive for Daniel to remain, not sure if they'd planned follow up films for this one, but it does work out quite well for the series.

That’s no moon, it’s a space station
good film, led to several great series
Everyone saying "watch Stargate SG-1" is right! The show is a canon continuation of The Movie that carries the spirit through all ten seasons. Unlike other shows simply based on movies, SG-1 doesn't cut its roots after the first few seasons. It feels like a natural progression from the adventure in The Movie, which becomes the tip of the iceberg or pyramid, if you will. Watch the first episode and you see what we mean.
Stargate, was a good movie I also enjoyed the T.V series too.
LMAO loved the Branden Frasier edit at 25:33 !

I've watched this movie since 1994 and I never even stopped to consider that part of O'Neil's freakout when the kid was reaching for the gun was related to the trauma of his son's death! VKunia sometimes has some amazing insights when watching these movies.

What series? SG-1? Atlantis? Universe?
@@mikethemotormouth yes. All of them.
"We all have friends whom we have been trying to get them to watch something for a while thinking they will enjoy and then they finally relent but part of you knows they are just humouring you and wont really give it a chance."
Could not agree more!
I hope it was just an off day for her but I have seen an increase in more recent videos of vk talking over dialogue or making jokes during dramatic moments. It is a shame because I would have put money on her really enjoying Stargate but as I said I don't think she has really seen it, half watching isn't really watching. I'm hoping it was an off day and not a new trend.
Yeah, you're right. This reaction is kinda like that one friend, who always talks in the movies and you just want to listen to what's going on.
@@Saikontesa Yeah that's what it felt like, its a shame if she had been talking less and listening more I think she would have really enjoyed it. A shame.
Another Fun Fact: Dr. Gary Meyers, also has a small recurring role on Stargate: Atlantis. He's funny as hell.
The tv show (SG1) is actually better
The movie was a fun start, but the SG-1 series that spun off it really put 'Stargate' on the map. It really is one of the best sci-fi series out there, and generated a whole bunch of spinoffs and other movies.
The movie Stargate is pretty good, but the shows (SG1 and Atlantis) are phenomenal. The best TV-show ever, right next to Lucifer
They pay homage to the movie in the nicest way possible, muuch later they even show why Catherine was so keen to open the Stargate.
And the mix of great characters (with rather reasonable development, plus stellar casting) with just the right amount of humor.
