Honestly you just saved us throwing away our bulbs - just stopped working - nothing was working until I followed your instructions and couldn’t find this info anywhere else! Thank you 🙏
OMG, you are a saviour! Had the same exact issue after resetting my Alexa yesterday, the hue bulb stopped working via voice commands. Your tutorial worked FIRST TIME!!! MY Alexa was still a couple of metres away but it still worked perfectly. THANK YOU SO MUCH! 💡 😁👍 *This method DOES WORK, it's all in the reset of the bulb. Once completed your Alexa will find the bulb and start to make it flash, then "bam", it connects! 👌👍💡
OMG! I spoke w Amazon 3 times for an hour each time, then called & emailed Phillips. They were looking to replace the bulbs if they were still under the 3 year warranty period. But no fix. Huge waste of time. Looked on uTube, ALL others had the "Bridge" in their explanation. Followed YOUR instructions & lights work (fixed). Thank you!!! Thumbs-up.
You're Awesome! Thanks so much! I love the Phillips bulbs because the quality is the absolute best, so why they can't get this correct is bizarre, to say the least! I use their Edison style dimmable/white to warm for chandeliers, the multi-color for mood around furniture and plants and more...but I have always had to control them all through the phone app while Alexa ran everything else just fine. I will add that when I called Phillips, they told me I was missing the Hub, and so, yes, I bought one.--AND IT STILL didn't work! All of this was perplexing because the first 3 I had purchased worked just fine with Alexa up until about 6 months ago when I began to really up my game with all Phillips. Nothing worked when I got them in, not even the old ones that used to. Then, your brilliant how-to video dropped in from the Universe to make my little piece of it right! Thank you so much. I set up all of the bulbs, one at a time, then ran them to their perspective places around the house--until I got smart and hooked up my Echo Show to an extension cord for the process. Everything works, and I am returning the Phillips HUB (Oh, I almost forgot...the reason the original bulbs worked was that, by sheer luck, the first two I had were on tables right next to the Alexa. ) I used to wonder what all the "Hub"-Bub was about! Thanks again! P.S. Keep us posted on the film. You've got fans!
Hiya! Thank you so much for your generous donation! I'm thrilled it worked out for you! On a side note, I can't believe you bought the Hub and it still didn't work. Phillips really needs to get it together (at least the product itself is pretty great). :)
Spent 3 hours trying to figure this out - saw your video and had it done in 2 minutes. Thank you - was happy to donate to the project - great job, ma'am!
OMG! I was I was going crazy trying repairing a Hue light with Alexa... The trick of the distance saved me throw away the Philips bulb! Thank you! Thank you so much!
Fantastic, worked a treat, thank you! As a slight aside, in case it helps anyone else, when I went to the help link, I didn't see the question about a Zigbee device, but there was one that said "I'm still having issues conneecting my device..." and a link that said "try another way to connect here." I followed the instructions and it all worked beautifully.
I just want to thank you so much for your video. I like you change something on my Alexa and my lights wouldn’t connect. Tried all kinds of things support and 1:04 without support. Your advice worked and I truly thank you. Your great!
Thank you!! I thought I was going crazy! They were not this difficult to pair years ago when I first got them. I needed to re-pair after changing wifi services, and was nearly defeated until I found your video!!
you are a star !! Thanks so much for this video. I had to reset all my echo/alexa devices because they wouldn't use 'brief' mode (kept saying 'OK' to every command) and then I had two philips hue bulbs which I couldn't pair. It's only through watching your video that I found where I needed to go to remove the devices by serial number and re-connect them.
Awesome! One of my Hue lights just could not be discovered by the Alexa app. Been trying everything for 2 days. What you described on the video worked first time. Thank you!
Wow I finally made it work with the help of your video. I didn’t need to reset the bulb, but just carrying the echo dot close to the bulb made it work! 😅
Thank you so very much, I stumbled on your video and followed your instructions and was able to connect to my bulb, you are amazing thank you so very much for walking through this. I am so excited I might get a few more bulbs just because of how easy you made it for me to do.
Worked for me. I have hue bridge but had one lamp that was too far away to maintain a connection. Was driving me mad as I have an echo a few meters away. Tried this method and the bulb works! Thank you
Yes this works, I believe what Philips and Amazon aren't saying, is that, with no hub, the lights can only be controlled by either Hue App on phone -or- Alexa. I'm trying to confirm that. One thing for sure, when I tried the Hue APP, setup Voice control, pairing, it NEVER worked. So your video at least corrected that! Thanks.
Super useful information I needed to do this with my Amazon echo plus which they say works as a hub/bridge. The light would not connect so it may have to be done even with an approved echo plus
Omg u are a godsend! I’ve been stomping around the house pouting cause I could not for the life of me get it to reset. Ur advice worked! Side note... u seem like such a pleasant person. Just thought I’d share 😊. Good luck with your film business!
I want to say Thank you! Ok, so I didn’t have a serial number on my bulb but I did what you said about putting the bulb very close to my Echo dot and Bam!!! It worked. I think it just has to be super close to your Alexa device. Good job girly I really appreciate the tip!🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I got the Bridge because I am aiming to buy more hue products for my future home and that it will allow natural light (certain light show at certain times corresponding to time of day) and other automations like turn on when I arrive home.
I had the bulb for two years worked fine power went out at the house and it stopped working. I tried reconnecting and it wouldn’t. I saw your video. Tried it and it worked. Thanks for the tip.
I don’t want to buy a Philips bridge either. Does an echo dot 5 control a hue bulb away from home? Perhaps I should test it out of Bluetooth range using data on my phones’ Alexa app..edit…wow the philips hue app fails to connect in my house out of range of blutooth…say outside or in a far corner away from the light. So i hooked my my Echo Dot near my router and Alexa was able control the light and dimmer. No expensive Bridge needed !
I have four Phillips hue light bars and I am having a message that says we are unable to link hue at this time please try again later. do you know the fix to that?
Sitinpretty Productions - sadly this did not work for me. The instructions were very clear but my Philips Hue and Alexa Echo refused to reconnect. They used to work and now they've stopped.
How frustrating! Sorry to hear it didn't work for you. Some of the other viewers have offered additional tips in the comments section. Give it a look and see if any of them might do the trick. Best of luck :)
My Phillips Smart Bulbs just quit working and at the same time. It says server can't be reached but I don't see the ziggbie thingie in the menu in my phone. Amazon Echo has updated their app. Anyway I made the mistake of deleting the bulbs and now Alexa won't find them. I think I'll just buy 2 more Phillips Hues Bulbs and use the ones that aren't smart anymore as regular bulbs.
The ones that use the hub are actually more versatile but they screwed up everything on one update. You might as well buy the zigbee bulbs. If you do it the way she says it’s because you didn’t buy a hue witless bridge which needs the hub as a center place (think of it as a router for your lights).
if needed, Philips hue lamp reset howto: start turned off for at least 5sec. turn on for 8sec turn off for 2 sec turn on for 8 sec turn off for 2 sec turn on for 8 sec turn off for 2 sec turn on for 8 sec turn off for 2 sec turn on. lamp will flash for 5sec if reset was successful (found on reddit)
For anyone still struggling: I solved my problem by pairing the lights to my phone trough the hue app, and then once they're connected you can reset/factory reset them all from the settings menu settings. After that try pairing them with alexa and it should work.
Tryed it, didn’t work. I give up. Amazon was absolutely no help. They couldn’t even give me the name of a bulb that would work. Turned into an all day project. Either echo dot sucks or hue bulbs do. Amazon told me they have a developing problem with no answers.
Honestly you just saved us throwing away our bulbs - just stopped working - nothing was working until I followed your instructions and couldn’t find this info anywhere else! Thank you 🙏
Happy to help :)
Wow! Cant believe it worked!! Been struggling for weeks to overcome having to buy a bridge for ONE light bulb. You are a genius! Thank you!

Worked a treat thanks from the UK. Weird because my echo plus went off line so reset the device then my Philips hue light wouldn’t work!
Amazing! So glad to hear that it's still working for people. And thank you so much for your kind donation!
so helpful! Had to move the light within a foot of the Alexa and it worked!
Thank you!!
Hi Camille! Outstanding! Exactly what I needed! I sent you some "thank you money"! 🤜💰🤛
Thank you William. Glad it worked for you :) And thank you so much for your kind gift!
Thank you. this tip saved me a hub and a bulb. God bless.
You, my lady, are a Goddess and a scholar! Much appreciated and thank you!!! Subscribed and liked! 😊
Why, Nick! What a compliment. Thanks you 😊☺️
Holy smokes this actually worked (I admit, I wasn’t convinced it would). Awesome video!

This finally worked on my bulb!! Thank you🙌🏻
Awesome!
Took a few more steps, but your video pointed me in the right direction. Thanks for the help.
Ma'am, You Are An Absolute LEGEND!!!!!!
I got the Bridge because I am aiming to buy more hue products for my future home and that it will allow natural light (certain light show at certain times corresponding to time of day) and other automations like turn on when I arrive home.
Sadly no luck. Mine is connected, but will not accept any Alexa voice commands. Still stuck using hue app
Big thanks! This worked for me after I had a Hue light just decide to not work any more.
You're welcome!
You are amazing!! It really works!!
Great !!! I was going crazy to configure this freaking lamp without their hub
Happy to help :)
Worked like a charm!!!!! Thank you!!!
So good!! Thank you spill much for the help, you are the best!
It hasn't worked for me. Does it have to be a certain type of echo? I have the show (2nd gen) and regular echo
Sorry to hear that. I'm not really sure but I don't think so. I think I have the regular echo.
Thanks worked for me 👍
Yay! You're welcome :)

Amazing instruction. Thank you!!

Thanks for this, it was driving me mad.

So happy to hear that.
Thank you so much❤
You're welcome! :)
Worked for us thanks!
Awesome!
Thank you so much! ❤
Thank you! I was about to toss the light bulbs out. I was so frustrated!
Surprised this worked. I literally carried my Echo so it was almost touching the globe as it was on and it tried to pair.
That's what I like to hear :)
thank you so much!!!!
You're so welcome :)
had to reset the device a few time but it works after couple try later. took me like 6-7 times lol
I have four Phillips hue light bars and I am having a message that says we are unable to link hue at this time please try again later. do you know the fix to that?
Worked for me
Awesome!! :)
What does the code look like?
Thank you for you effort!
does it work with amazon dot?
I'm not sure. If it worked before they changed their app settings it should work again with this method. Give it a shot
You are my HERO!!!
Oh, a first! lol :)
Thank you
You're welcome 😀
Mine didn’t work work and and I literally don’t know what to do
Yes- use the ? In the Alexa app. Then manually input the serial number on the blub.
Yes you don't need the hub/bridge
THANK YOU!!!
You're welcome :)
Thanks, it worked. 👍
Are you using an android or ios?
Pretty much following to the Letter with my android app and it's not working. Thinking outside the box.
@@glennbrown8329 I used Android. Have you connected the light bulb to a power source and held it really close to the Dot?
Alexa was inches away.....inches.
Did you connect the bulb with the Philips Hue app first before attempting the connection with Alexa?
@@glennbrown8329 No, it just worked without the Philips App. Just screwed the bulb it, held it to the Dot and then it worked like described.

I thought you were onto something but it didn't work for me, even when I put my lamp on top of my alexa
Doesn’t need to be inches away. Just decent Wi-Fi coverage. What a complete ball ache though! This should never be this complicated.
Agreed. No clue why they make it so complicated
Life saver 😘
:)
Mine is still not working 😢 Can somebody help me?
The ones that use the hub are actually more versatile but they screwed up everything on one update. You might as well buy the zigbee bulbs. If you do it the way she says it’s because you didn’t buy a hue witless bridge which needs the hub as a center place (think of it as a router for your lights).
If this does not work try to update the light bulb from Philip's hue app .
if needed, Philips hue lamp reset howto: start turned off for at least 5sec.
turn on for 8sec
turn off for 2 sec
turn on for 8 sec
turn off for 2 sec
turn on for 8 sec
turn off for 2 sec
turn on for 8 sec
turn off for 2 sec
turn on. lamp will flash for 5sec if reset was successful

This feels very close. Tantalisingly so. But not quite there.
Didn’t work for me 😢
I have the bridge and it still doesn't work
