Great review my friend. I liked the explanations and the demo. I have quite a few of them myself TC, and I love em. I like the fact that you can control them from my iPhone. ONe really cool feature I use every day, is the auto-on feature. For example; - I have them come on at dusk where I live, and I use the "Savannah Sunset" theme for my living room. That theme is ABSOLUTELY stunning! So whether it's raining, or snowing outside, at dusk I get to enjoy a beautiful sunset in my own home. But the COOLEST feature of these themes is you can set the time duration of how long it takes to "fade-in". . So JUST like a sunset takes its time to go down, your lights will fade in. 5 minutes, 10, up to 30 min I think. - Another favorite of mine is in the morning. I use the lights in addition to my alarm [a soft chime or music cascade]. The lights turn on at, sayyy, 0600hrs. But they don't just turn on bright, they start very dim. . . and gradually get brighter until they arrive at the intensity you set. Lemme tell you gang, it's a fantastic way to wake up in the morning. I wake up relaxed and invigorated. . . know what I mean? And lemme tell you it's better than being punched in the face with an Eddie Van Halen guitar solo eh ? [yes I said "eh?". I'm a Canadian so I get to use that anytime I want lol] ****IF YOU GET THE STARTER KIT, M A K E SURE YOU GET THE STARTER KIT THAT HAS A SMALL LOGO [picture of a hue bulb] ON THE UPPER RIGHT OF THE FRONT OF THE BOX THAT SAYS "RICHER COLORS". VERY IMPORTANT ! ! ! ;) This is seriously a fantastic piece of kit like you said. But the greatest thing about this kit, is; - IT'S SUUUPER EASY TO SET UP GUYS !!!!! IT'S ESSENTIALLY PLUG AND PLAY. - They are LED bulbs, so they are energy friendly, use little to no electricity, and will last a lifetime. super cheap on your electric bill guys n gals - Like TC said, ENDLESS customizable settings and profiles - They are a bit pricey. . . but SSSSOOOOOOO worth it :)) *****LOVED THE MUSIC SCORE YOU USED***** Who is the artist, and the name of the track? AND HOLY HOLY CRAP I'M GETTING SOME LIGHT IDEA SCENARIOS FROM THIS REVIEW OF YOURS ! ! ! ! LOVE THE WARM HUE BEHIND THE SCREEN ! ! LOVE IT !!! sorry.....I'm a philips HUE "light whore" :)) Oh, and one more thing TC. you NOW have another loyal "like", "subscriber", and "notifier" Cheers mate, have a great weekend from Mike on the "other side of the pond" in the Nations Capital of Canada. Sorry for the long post here TC, but I just wanted to help your promotion and get a bit of commission like you said right ?
I've only heard good things about the Phillips Hue series. It seems like they had the foresight to put a well integrated and smoothly working infrastructure in place, differentiating it from other options, which is good considering the price! I'll pass for the time being, but at least you're paying for something.
I think its like when a musician says " Heres my set up" and they are just showing you their Guitar, pedals and amp? Like rather than a set up tutorial just like "here's my light set up". Or its clickbait. I mean I haven't a notion to be honest.
Is there a way where I can program amazon echo so that I can say to “hit the lights” and then the lights turn on and Metallica’s “hit the lights” plays in the background?
Its such a beautiful light though. not just because it changes colors but because you can customize the dimness and the color to be just right. it's actually incredible if you think about it.
I’m so addicted. I started off just putting the hue play behind my tv and normal white ones in my kitchen. Now I want them all over my house. I’m going to have to slowly buy these 😭
Philips used to have a thing called Ambilight in some TVs. And you could configure it either to a solid color or to change color depending on the content displayed. It really elevates the viewing experience during a movie for example. Any idea how one can do that using for example that LED light-strip?
This maybe a stupid question, Could the philips box that’s plugged in synced to the light bulbs turn on without the lamp being plugged in. Like I’m looking to add lighting to my door hall way, but I don’t want hanging cords or to wire anything into the wall.
Hi There, I have a question. When you are doing a bathroom that takes three light bulbs, does all three light bulbs have to be smart bulbs to be able to function with Alexa or Google? Or does one smart bulb installed can turn on and off all three bulbs if the other two bulbs are regular bulbs? Thanks in advance
If I have Google home device, and I have philips hue go, would I still need the Hue bridge or can I can just control through Google home and home app??
Did you have to use IFTTT to get Echo to change colors? I have one setup with a Echo dot, and can only turn on/off bulbs/groups, and adjust brightness. Have a second area I wanted to get an Echo spot to control lights, but want to be able to change colors which Google seems to be able to do out of box and seems to need programming with IFTTT for Echo.
Do you only have one light strip going straight behind your tv? I've seen people use multiple and follow the rectangle of the TV but do you think this is necessary? And how big is it? Is it the lightstrip plus or extension? Thanks!
Hi, Is Philips Hue a must? I am planning to get the Hue Panel lights and I wanted to know if I can control it from anywhere via Alexa, Google Home without Hue Hub
Is it true that phillips hue plus lightstrip can only light one color at a time? I bought the hue sync box and want to install their lightstrip around the back of the tv but if it can't have seperate colors at the top, sides and bottom I'll have to find another solution.
i have the Philips hue lights,i use them with hueDynamic app for pc,add sound affects to your lights and different ambiences, match lights to movies.,games and music.awesome
Can you use the smart bulbs with out the bridge thingy? Or is that the only way to get ALL THE BULBS to be synced with each other ? Is there a max of bulbs you the bridge can add?
Lol mate (or rather chap xd) - just now when I'm wondering if i should buy some hues You upload this one... Made my Devisen easier :D! Great Job as always!
I have a question about the Philips Hue Bulb. I am changing the location of the bulb from one room to the other because I bought more bulbs. Alexa echo show says it finds no new devices. How do I make the bulbs recognizable in a new light socket when it has previously been in another?
Hi, great vid, wanted to ask what Amazon Alexa is best to use with the Phillips Hue bulbs/strip? I've been told to get the Echo Plus as it gas Zigbee in it, but then also been told u don't really need that and just go for the Echo. Please if anyone let me know what is best to go for? Also want to mention that in June I'll be purhasing a new tv with Alexa built in.
I use Google Home while my roommate uses Echo. Are we able to use the same lights in our apartment to work with both Alexa and Google. Or only one or the other.
So i would like to tell my google assistent a to turn on «Chillmode» and then automatically dim the lights and put on relaxing spa music at the same time, is this possible to do?
You have to have continuous power going to these light right? How does that affect your electric bill? I know you can turn the lights off with the app but you have to also keep the power going to the devices and lights. Does that affect the cost of your energy bill?
Still looking good, I see, Tom. 😁 With a loft pimped out like that, I would drop everything in the blink of an eye if I got a gaming/video night/party invite. 😂 I'll bring some wine and cheese too, since I'm so polite. HAHA
Googd video for explainin, but why you don't buy a Smart Tv philips and Ambilight (3) ? Do you know you can synchronised with philips Hue ? Samsung is very good for de quality with their Qled tv ^^
What’s cool is that - if you want adorable bulbs, you can get the TRÅDFRI Smart Led lights for 15 euros. They ain’t so bad for their price. They work with the Hue, Alexa and Google home as well.
They are pretty cool and expensive! It's tempting to get the new Phillips OLED as they support hue integration so you can have some cool lighting going on in the room while films are playing.. however it doesn't have dolby vision and I don't know if that's a deal breaker or not. Also a review on a Eve V would be awesome :)
Just ordered a tripple color bulb + bridge kit for only 100 Pounds (114 Euros), plus I get a Google Home Mini from my sister (they don't sell it here in Hungary and Google doesn't ship it here :/). I am really looking forward to receive it on this week. :D Quick question: can I connect it wirelessly to the router or do I need a wired connection for the Bridge?
Hey I just subscribed! This video helped me out a lot by showing what that brand can do but I must ask at 0:26 to the very left of the screen where did you get that lamp and could you link it in a reply? I really like the design of it 😂
The Hue Bridge *needs* to be plugged in to an Ethernet device, which I'm led to believe is a router. You might want to check if a Ethernet-to-Wifi dongle will work for your setup. Good luck!
This stuff is soooooo addictive, your wallet will not like you once you get started.
Definitly. I would wanna have a smart life! As much possible!
I guess it's kinda off topic but do anybody know of a good place to stream new tv shows online?
This was a bright idea
Thomas Judson Really? 😂
PC Centric 😂
Thomas Judson haha what a lit joke
Ba dum tis
Ooooo, nice pun 🤣😁😆
Did I miss the setup part?
you could be a better UA-camr.
It means setup in his home not how to set it up lol
😂😂😂

If there was a feature to bookmark comments on UA-cam, this is it. Copy, pasted your comment.
Philips Hue.... Amazing, I love em, just can't afford em though...
So true
There are alternatives so maybe try some of them
Yeah, when I first saw them on UA-cam I thought, yeah Awesome...but then I looked into the price and was shocked, no go for me.
@@MaZEEZaM get the smart life ones they are cheaper ten the hue and they don't require a hub
Spent £70 on a hue bloom and now have to spend another £60 on the starter kit, it’s mad but looks really good

This seemed more like a review than an actual light setup ideas
I think its like when a musician says " Heres my set up" and they are just showing you their Guitar, pedals and amp? Like rather than a set up tutorial just like "here's my light set up". Or its clickbait. I mean I haven't a notion to be honest.

Idk about Alexa buy I know with Google you can set up schedules/routines, and I think you can do something like that. That's a cool idea haha
Its such a beautiful light though. not just because it changes colors but because you can customize the dimness and the color to be just right. it's actually incredible if you think about it.
What a amazing video! I never know you can actually go through smartphone and press to turn on the light

the lights are in fact, very addictive!
Hey, how cool, We just replaced all the lamps in our house for these cool guys yesterday! 😂💕
Simmie Tutorials are they bright enough?
Patrick Culverhouse yes, you can set them really really bright!
Yeah they really are bright enough!! Only down fall ive seen is that the switch will no longer work you have to only use your phone.../
Ryan Alexa or Google Voice is the best way of controlling the lights.
Great for Christmas
Amithkumar BG does it work with home pod
my family does not celebrate christmas becouse we jews
Hi, is the bridge necessary? I've seen a couple of vids that the bulbs work on alexa without any bridge or hub.
do you know how i can use phillips hue light presets in alexa? like the sunset one. cos right now alexa only understands her own presets
Would one be bright enough using the colours to fill a whole room or only part of a room, please?
Sooo cool... or warm! It's the NEW must have in lights for all us Techies for sure! Thx for the review :)
This maybe a stupid question, Could the philips box that’s plugged in synced to the light bulbs turn on without the lamp being plugged in. Like I’m looking to add lighting to my door hall way, but I don’t want hanging cords or to wire anything into the wall.
Do you need the bridge? And does the bridge work with Google home? Is there a benefit for using google home with the bridge?
that tv looks great mate and the lights made everything even better... congrats
Do you really need the hub thingy? Or am I able to just use one bulb and just plug it in and use it with Alexa and razer synapse?
Thanks for making a high quality & informative video about this, everything else about it on UA-cam is garbage.
Hi There,
I have a question. When you are doing a bathroom that takes three light bulbs, does all three light bulbs have to be smart bulbs to be able to function with Alexa or Google? Or does one smart bulb installed can turn on and off all three bulbs if the other two bulbs are regular bulbs?
Thanks in advance
how did you film theses lights without the flicker? have them in my youtube setup and mine are constantly flickering
50 shutter speed.
Ive been using the similar Osram Lightly for over a year. Its less expensive and great customer support.
If I have Google home device, and I have philips hue go, would I still need the Hue bridge or can I can just control through Google home and home app??

Tom, can you tell me the height of your TV console? I'm looking for something similar for our living room. Much appreciated!
Hi, Is Philips Hue a must? I am planning to get the Hue Panel lights and I wanted to know if I can control it from anywhere via Alexa, Google Home without Hue Hub
What was point in that video?
Hey I got loads of free stuff from Philips, so here’s an advert.
Your videos are usually far superior.
Does the bridge have to be in the same room as the lights I wanna control tho
however it doesn't have dolby vision and I don't know if that's a deal breaker or not. Also a review on a Eve V would be awesome
Well does your TV even have Dolby Vision? Samsung refuses to add it to their TVs in order to push HDR10+ anyways…
Do you need the bridge to control through the app or can you just use the app
Is it true that phillips hue plus lightstrip can only light one color at a time? I bought the hue sync box and want to install their lightstrip around the back of the tv but if it can't have seperate colors at the top, sides and bottom I'll have to find another solution.
Just learning about this stuff but an going to change my entire condo like this. Very Cool!!!!
Awesome bits of kit. Really want to move to them in my home. Nicely done Tom.
i have the Philips hue lights,i use them with hueDynamic app for pc,add sound affects to your lights and different ambiences, match lights to movies.,games and music.awesome
Do you recommend this for a large house? (+4000 sqft)
Can you use the smart bulbs with out the bridge thingy?
Or is that the only way to get ALL THE BULBS to be synced with each other ?
Is there a max of bulbs you the bridge can add?
Freddy Medina no you need a bride to connect them. 50 lights is the maximum I believe.
which one?@@kasperplayer
Freddy Medina type in hue bridge on amazon. It’s like $49.99
Lol mate (or rather chap xd) - just now when I'm wondering if i should buy some hues You upload this one... Made my Devisen easier :D! Great Job as always!
is there any music apps you use with the hue go without needing the hue bridge. thanks
I have a question about the Philips Hue Bulb. I am changing the location of the bulb from one room to the other because I bought more bulbs. Alexa echo show says it finds no new devices. How do I make the bulbs recognizable in a new light socket when it has previously been in another?
Hello guys I have some sonos devices with Alexa, do you recommend philips or another brand for alexa?
Cheers
if you have the alexa plus, it costs more but has the bridge built-in meaning less wires
Hi, great vid, wanted to ask what Amazon Alexa is best to use with the Phillips Hue bulbs/strip?
I've been told to get the Echo Plus as it gas Zigbee in it, but then also been told u don't really need that and just go for the Echo.

If you have 1 bulb do you need the bridge?
I use Google Home while my roommate uses Echo. Are we able to use the same lights in our apartment to work with both Alexa and Google. Or only one or the other.
It is a must to have for tech enthusiast!
Everything I needed! Thank you.
Would I need the Philips Bridge hub to control a lights system if If I had a Google home?
So i would like to tell my google assistent a to turn on «Chillmode» and then automatically dim the lights and put on relaxing spa music at the same time, is this possible to do?
You have to have continuous power going to these light right? How does that affect your electric bill? I know you can turn the lights off with the app but you have to also keep the power going to the devices and lights. Does that affect the cost of your energy bill?
Hey Francisco, as long as the LED is off, they shouldn't be using any power.
any one know if you have a fan that has 3 spots for light. if you use only 1 does it still use the same amount of electric like if you had all 3.
Hi, do I need to purchase the bridge in order to change the colors?
this video made me color my whole house..... im obsessed ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
Hi great review, one question does the hub connect via Wi-Fi ?
nope
I only have one white single A19 bulb . Do I need the bridge ? And do I need an App to connect it to Alexa ?
can I can make philips hue bulb bluetooth ( party mode ) with only amazon echo gen 4 and no hue bridge?
Could I just get the light strip and not need the bridge thingy? And operate it on my phone still? Cheers (:
Do they work with Echo Dot 4th generation?
Great review
You forgot to mention that you are
Able control remotely
While away from home
I have this set up its impressive but not cheap.
True - anyone you can access the app!
The Tech Chap yea being able to turn on and off lights while anywhere in the world is a real game changer.
This video is very helpful and convenient.
Great video! So exited about this product!
This is the future
Still looking good, I see, Tom. 😁 With a loft pimped out like that, I would drop everything in the blink of an eye if I got a gaming/video night/party invite. 😂 I'll bring some wine and cheese too, since I'm so polite. HAHA
Does it only work with Google or Amazon? Can I use my iPhone or my HomePod??
I wonder if you can set the colour of the lights to black and then it’s like bright darkness.
Hey man, do u know of any smart bulbs for an led spotlight fitting? Cheers
Googd video for explainin, but why you don't buy a Smart Tv philips and Ambilight (3) ? Do you know you can synchronised with philips Hue ? Samsung is very good for de quality with their Qled tv ^^

would I need a wall switch to make these work?
Can i use this bulbs as study /regler light??
where can i find for deaf doorbell wireless to light bulbs ? Like deaf for smart lights, please let me know I need it...

Dolby vision isnt as widely used as HDR 10 even more so on streaming apps so if the panel is good I'd spring for that instead.
hey, im looking to buy these bulbs, i have a google home mini, do i still need the bridge?
yes
Just ordered a tripple color bulb + bridge kit for only 100 Pounds (114 Euros), plus I get a Google Home Mini from my sister (they don't sell it here in Hungary and Google doesn't ship it here :/). I am really looking forward to receive it on this week. :D
Quick question: can I connect it wirelessly to the router or do I need a wired connection for the Bridge?
Laccer the hue bridge needs to be wired to the router or a powerline adapter
I'll use it for home studies. The vocal booth would be lit
More colors more emotions.
Does it come with the cords to connect the hub bridge to the rotten
What 3rd party apps would you recommend?
Hey I just subscribed! This video helped me out a lot by showing what that brand can do but I must ask at 0:26 to the very left of the screen where did you get that lamp and could you link it in a reply? I really like the design of it 😂
Do you need the hub or can I just use my Alexa?
Do you need the bridge just to use one Hue bulb? I only plan to control it through my phone and Echo Dot.
Brenden White yes
No, you don’t for a single bulb. You would not need the hub.
1:30
2:44
the way he says party
turns on the party mood :)
Do I need a hue beige ?
how do i use just the strip..what other products
What do you need to use to control it with Alexa or Google home?
How about a Christmassy review of some programmable RGB Christmas tree lights? :-)
Can you have a google home and echo dot with only one hue hub. Kid has a home and we just got an echo for free. Want to use echo for mancave
Do you need a bridge for one bulb?
ChaoticMatters yea you need to get a starter kit, it includes a bridge for really cheap
Will they work if I have Amazon echo and just a bulb? Or do I need the bridge?
You need the bridge
wow definitely investing for next year
I have Philip hue and they are great
do we need a router... over here in Finland we usually have wifi for our networks but no router, just a wifi dongle
The Hue Bridge *needs* to be plugged in to an Ethernet device, which I'm led to believe is a router. You might want to check if a Ethernet-to-Wifi dongle will work for your setup. Good luck!
great video man
Is the hub wireless or just hard wired?
Can echo plus work the lights without the bridge ?
Hive is the best, anything to do with Hive is the best.
