    Great looking wheels when the center caps are on. I owned a 1989 for 14 years. Great track car. C4s don't get enough respect.

    Beautiful corvette! I own a 85 corvette it was a black corvette somebody painted it red. It is a faded red soon to be black again. I also have a 94 black rose coupe with both tops I love driving this corvette. The 85 turned into a unforseen project but I'm not giving up and don't plan to..great talking to a fellow c4 owner.

    Very nice C4! Love it! Took delivery of a torch red 1989 C4 last month with 27K original miles on it and thus far, am loving it (waited 38 years to get my grubby paws on a C4 and it's only by God's grace and mercy that I have it or anything else "good" in my life)! Everything works on it as well EXCEPT the heater so I gotta get that fixed so wifey will be comfy in it now that the heat is off for the time being in Phoenix which will better enable us to take weekend trips to the truly cold areas of AZ. And yes, we bought it for a "toy" and as far as I'm concerned, it has not disappointed in that department. Gorgeous ride you got there! Please take care of it, enjoy it and God bless! :)

    Congrats on finding this gem. I picked up an `88 auto black cpe back in `20 with only 17500 miles on it . Yours looks to have the base suspension package (without the close ratio steering and softer shocks) which is more street friendly than the Z51 & Z52 which I have and is very unforgiving as the slightest wheel movement will send the car off coarse if you're not paying attention to the road. Another thing I noticed on yours and was glad to see was on the underside of your hood has the same little white circles that I had been wondering if they were "stock" or signs of unknown bodywork. Now I know it's a factory thing. Check your RPO codes shown on a sticker underneath the console lid to see what rear end gear you have - mine has the base 2.59 dana 36 which sucks for around town if you just leave it in the drive position and wants to upshift to OD too soon and doesn't like downshifting from OD on it's own either so I just keep it in 3rd drive position out of OD until I want it especially on hilly roads and around town under 40 mph. if you're going for performance they sell the 3.07 aftermarket gearsets as well as the full Dana 44 replacement kits for three grand if money is no object.
    You mentioned hopping up the motor and putting new exhaust etc... which sounds great but unless you plan on keeping it for a while, you might be throwing time and money away for not much return if you consider selling soon for really good price as/is. I'd focus on making sure all the fluids, hoses, belts, brakes, bushings etc.. were all up to snuff before tearing apart that pristine motor but that's just me. I've put 15 k miles on mine since I've owned it and other than aftermarket two tone leather seat covers I installed, I'm keeping it all original as I'm an older dude who's mellowed out with age like my `88
    😎

      Hey thanks for the comment I do have not have the z51! I have 2.59 in the rear plans on going to the 3.07! Just changed the MAF which significantly improved my MPG and overall I have loved driving it I appreciate the comment !

    • @C4VETTELT1

      @Car Spectrum can I ask why your switching to a 3.07 and not something better? Personally I'd go at least 3.42 but I'd mostlikely go 3.73. I've heard that doing a gear change is damn near the best mod you can do! I've heard that switching from the 2.59 (which I have as well) to 3.73 is good for 3/4 of a second off your quarter mile time!! That's big time!!

    • @carspectrum4886
      @carspectrum4886  Рік тому +2

      @@C4VETTELT1 I just read up and saw 3.07 will help quarter mile times and make it feel more torque

    • @C4VETTELT1
      @C4VETTELT1 Рік тому +1

      @Car Spectrum it definitely would!! But the difference isn't gonna be that big but you'd feel it for sure, 3.42 or 3.73 would be quite a bit better. If you're gonna be in there might as well go all out!! Lol that's my motto anyway.

    Cool car buddy. I have a 89 Dark red metallic c4. Your car and mine are twins. Mine is a Z51 with a manual transmission though. Same interior color. I put C6 wheels on mine. The first thing I did to mine is replace the heater core. That was a real pain.

    • @bobo12055
      @bobo12055 Рік тому

      @@ErminioFancel My transmission is really noisy even after having it rebuilt. I have Red line Heavy shockproof gear oil in it for now. that quieted it down a little bit.

    That one looks pretty damn nice too!! And I wouldn't worry too much about the automatic transmission! That Doug Nash 4+3 manual is a straight up wack transmission!! Lol the 700R4 is one of the best automatics ever!

  • @C4VETTELT1
    @C4VETTELT1 Рік тому +2

    I'll tell ya right now that the vette is a way better car than the IROC!! I'm speaking from experience, I had an 89 IROC 350 automatic and have a 92 vette now and the vette is a way better car!! Like not ever close!! Lol now my 92 vette has quite a bit more power with the LT1 so the power difference isn't gonna be as significant for you but personally I don't miss the IROC and the IROC was my first love and I still don't miss it.

    IDK, I think prime examples should be preserved, or at least left alone, placed on pedestals, or something like that.

    Saw a comment with advice not to close the hood when the doors are open - risk of chipping the paint? Maybe yours is OK and has adequate clearance.

    Something is funky with the mpg... 10.9 when it should be 20. Has someone shimmed the throttle body? I had a Formula 350 of that year with the L98 and it made excellent power while rendering that 20mpg. I like the power band of that motor... about 2500rpm to 4500rpm. Right where you want it passing a truck. My bird would jump from 50 to 110 passing a semi or two. 100mph on level highway was 3000rpm. Current vette is a '94 and I don't see any great advantage of the LT1 over the L98. Btw... beat the living heck out of my bird for 5-6 years. Smoked off a couple sets of tires. Never had one single problem with the engine.

      Hello thanks for the comment! Typically these TPI motors run a little on the hotter side, when driving I hover about 210, with AC on goes into the 220 range , Typically the second fan will kick on about 230ish and will drop back to 210
