Very nice, a lot of car for the money. The C4s are going to come back in demand I think. I am restoring a 1990 ZR-1 with 78,413 miles. Got the engine running recently and she sounds good. I'm getting there. Enjoy your car it's a fine looking ride. 👍👍🏁
Be careful when you clean engine and drivetrain. Degreasers will cause the mono leave springs to crack. Coming from a 25 year Corvette guy. I learned my lesson years ago the hard way. Great looking car for its age!
Thanks for that advice, I had avoided doing that for fear of the electronics, spring failure would be just ducky on my '87 convertible, also just bought an immaculate 95 coupe to keep it company-no problems, or issues, owned by a GM tech who really took care of it-Polo Green with Tan and black interior-convertible is Camero Fire Mist, with basic black. Could eat off the engine of the coupe.
_Cool facts John: for 1989 Chevy made only 1,233 coupes and 698 convertibles in dark blue metallic. Considering the low mileage and the black interior, this '89 - C4 is stunning! Plus all the upgrades done by the previous owner make this already nice fourth gen. perfect! Sure there are lots of little maladies, but once they're fixed properly(I cringed at a Chevy dealer not knowing how to fix the hatch release correctly). _*_Subscribed._*
I bought a 1984 tbi car used in 1985. I wasn’t sure if it was a good idea. I had the car until 2015. Sold it for $ 2500 to a nice 19 year old boy. I had nothing but great luck with this car. What a great GM product. That corvette was the best car that I ever had. By the way it was a red Z51. Even with the suspension package it was still comfortable. Factory mufflers had a great rumble.
Really nice one with that color. I have a 1990 that I know inside and out. But I do think the '89 is the peak of the C4. It was still dominating at the track and on the street and it has all the updates, while still retaining the atari dash and the classic body.
My dad had one when I was just born a white 89 with red interior gorgeous vette like yours...my father let it go long ago and still misses it....it's a keeper for sure and nostalgia is growing on that Vette.... congrats 👍😉
Welcome to the club. I got a 1990 black one at the beginning of summer for $3200. Body was a bit rough but only had 93k original miles. Needless to say, as summer winds down, there are now 98k on the car so that says it all.
This is a pristine car, lots of luck with it. Frst vette I drove was an 88 vert black on black back in 1991. Ever since then I wanted to buy one. In '08 I took ownership of a brand new black on black Z51 vert and still have it with 23k on the clock!
I just paid $10,000 for a 89 convertible... Paid more than it was worth, but I figure with only 14,000 miles on it why not ... I'm thrilled to own it ... My first one also at 73 years of age ....
Thats a great find. Sweet color combination. They should have made more this blue color. The black interior is the best color. This color combination is timeless. This car was owned by a knowledgeable owner with the frame connectors and camber brace. I'm sure he babied it. Awesome car Bud.
I have a 89 Corvette with original manual original paperwork from dealership, still got the cassette tape that came with it years ago.its hard to drive anything else after driving one of these beautiful machines.
That TPI motor is a pretty good motor for it's time. The Tune ported injection provides a lot of torque. I had a TPI engine (& the trans) from a 89 Vette in a 1985 Jeep CJ-7 and it was awesome. That jeep could do burnouts for a mile long. Yours looks really good for a 1989. The paint looks pretty clean too, nice color.
Nice ride, I bought a 1986 for $1500 the guy I bought it from couldn't drive it no longer because it is a manuel transmission and he has bad knees. Turns out I did my research on the car and its a z-51 . I got lucky all around. Good luck.
Nice car, I have a black 1990 C4 . It has just under 75,000 miles on it now. I bought alot of parts for the car from ebay and saved alot of money that way.
Congratulations! Overall, a very nice car! Impressive that it's aging so well. I have two C4s. A 1987 red convertible with 50,000 original miles and a 1985 coupe scheduled later this year for a complete restoration.
GREAT color, rare. I drive a 2018 now, have had C6, C5 and 2 C4s, miss my '86 the most. One of the first things you should do is back out the spring bolts and get rid of the notorious, lifted 4X4 look, especially in the back. Won't change the ride at all, and will drop you 1" in back and 1/2 in front. Have fun!
Nice! I didn't know Corvettes ever came in that dark of a shade of blue. Everybody kind of slams the pre-'92 C4 Corvettes as being somewhat 'anemic' compared to the 1992 and up years when the base model came equipped with the LT-1 engine; but to my eye the entire C4 generation had the cleanest body lines since the C2 generation. My 1992 C4 has a rather unique color that I've not seen a lot of: 'bright aqua metallic' kind of a teal blue shade; very '90's'. That exhaust note sounds sweet. Nice buy enjoy it.
Nice C4 !! Love the color! I bought a 89 C4 last year and I love it. Just one thing, check original pictures of C4 corvettes when they came out because your rims are on backwards. 👍👍
You found a real gem with this one. Looks awesome! I want to find one that's this clean one day. "No dings or dents." I should hope not since it has a fiberglass body. ;)
My dad have a 1986 black c4, my brother own 2004 Lemans edition C5 coupe and I own 1998 Silver C5 Coupe. Yhep we don't like corvettes jejejeje😂😂😂 You got a beautiful C4. Use it and have fun brother. Remember is not the car that have to be perfect, is how happy it makes you every time you are behind the wheel. 😎
Nice car and equipment package. I too have a 1989 I just bought with 65k miles on it and I love it. Yours is the only dark blue one of that era I've ever seen. Beautiful color. I'm tuned in and I am adding C4 content to my channel as well @Things With Wheels !
Great find! Perfect platform to restore to perfection. I love them all but consider the C4 to be the best looking Corvette ever. Some parts are getting hard to find, but I eventually find what i need. I’m constantly on the hunt.
Great condition..love all Corvettes..the C4 were my least favourite..but then I started to like them they have cool 1980's retro styling. The digital dash is fantastic..I love the steering wheel, wheels and seats. The wear on the seats can easily be brought back to like new finish. If I'm not mistaken you have the original wheels for 1989. You can do the wheels up pretty easily. Don't replace them, better getting them done if you can't do them yourself. Again regarding the exterior colour..you can buff it up and regain colour.
Just FYI, the crack in the driver window weather strip is very common, and also very cheap and easy to replace/fix. I bought a 25,000 mile 89, and it had the problem too. Some warnings: stay on top of the gasoline. It doesn't like ethanol (which is hard to avoid these days). You might need some cleaners or octane boosters to counteract the bad effects that the modern gas has on those injectors. I'm thinking of just replacing my injectors altogether with ones that are a bit more friendly to new gas. I really don't know what to do about it, other than just try to be aware of the gas you're using. Also, the ignition system doesn't like super hot temperatures. When that steering column gets super hot, it has a hard time reading the little resistor chip in the key. I had mine stranded once on a 100+ degree day until later in the afternoon when the column cooled down, and could read the key.
I bought an '89 dark blue metallic C4 new in October of '88. Mine had the saddle leather interior. Such a pretty combination. Unfortunately I had a really bad wreck in it and it was totaled
Looks great the car is easy to work on. Lots of relays but easy to get to except the burn off relay. I have an 85 4+3 l restored it last thing I’m doing is he door side panels and the dash parts will be in soon. Good luck and enjoy.
Beautiful car, I just bought my second C4 it's an 86 convertible. It almost perfect just stupid clear coat. The wheels are on the wrong side on my car as well. Enjoy that beautiful car.
Dude! Sick car! I love that color. You're right. It's rare. I thought maybe you were going to say it was repainted. The previous owner(s) certainly took great care of it.
I have an 87 and I have some of the same issues. But the car runs and drives great. I have a bunch of small things that need repair. I've gotten some things done, but I have a ways to go.
of the early C4 years 1989 was my favorite. I have an 85 that is sweeeeet but the 89 had standard the 17's , abs, the sport seats were amazing and you have it in that amazing blue metallic. In my corvette club from years ago, only one 89 was the blue metallic and it just was amazing in the sun . Congrats. The seats in the C4 corvette , especially the sports you have , blow away any C5 , C6 , C7 etc for articulation and support. I have had many vettes ( a couple z06's and they dont compare) to the seats you have in your car. You dont move in those seats. Im envious. So many little things you can do to that 89 to easily get it into the low low low 13's that cost nothing. (the 85 was tested the fastest for different reasons but same add ons apply) Ill check out your other videos , im late to seeing this vid lol (did you fix the A/C? If not , used you can find one if not, " modular masters" are amazing. Send it in they can fix it at affordable cost.
I hope you fix the rear hatch release. It is hard to believe the dealer couldn't fix the problem. I have a 1990 c4, it is possible that the solenoid is disconnected. If you open up the cover (cracked), you will find the solenoid.
Very nice! I have a black 1986 C4 with 47 K miles. First thing I did was a muffler delete and added LT1 tips. The car sounds great! Like it should sound even tho the cats are still on.
I bought the delete kit but took it to a local muffler shop. I was glad I did afterwards because they had a tough time removing the stock ones and also had to force the new pipes in place to weld them. It was well worth it. I love the way it sounds. I can however put mufflers back if I remove the cats.
Very Cool Car..Paint is Incredible.. The one I bought was a One Owner from an 82 old man..So Yes its important to buy one that hasn't been Shredded...LoL. I just put my Muffler Deleted pipes on. $250 est..Ebay. Easy Install also. Very nice sound. Not to Loud either..Way a 350 motor should sound. Keep the Video's rolling Guy👍
Very nice, enjoy it.... I love my C4! The previous owner(s) did some great things to make it better and keep it in great shape. :) Plenty of help on the Corvette Forum, C4 section.
Nice Car, nice color - with a ZF manual it would be perfect. I'm thinking of buying one too, but a 89 with manual are quite rare here in Germany. Now checking your other Videos what rims you got 🙂
L98 Corvettes were NOT known for running hot or overheating. 180° thermostat is standard on these. Put in a 160° and it will run cooler again, and the L98 will like that even more since the hot coolant flows through the intake manifold. It is the LT1 that was known to 'seem' to run hot, because it has reverse flow cooling and the displayed temperature 'looked' high. L98s had no overheating issues anyway, but with the VO1 option they ran stone cold. Considering it was a $40 option and over 20,000 of them got it in 1989 i would be surprised if that one didnt have it.
Being a vette owner, based on your video, your looking at about 3,000.00 in repairs, if your not doing the work yourself. But all in all the car looks good, welcome to the family...
I had a 1989 FX3 version. about 5,500. All manual transmissions were the FX3 option with ride select and the new manual transmission equipped with the new 6-speed. FX3. I am not sure if Gordon Killabrew is still alive and available. But, Gordon can answer most any question regarding The C-4 Corvette.
Congrats and nice choice. '89-'91 was the sweet spot for the base C4. I love my '96 but absolutely HATE HATE HATE the infamous dreaded abysmal Optispark. I would gladly give up 50 hp to lose that wretched POS.
@Robert Leonard If your OEM bearing isn't shot, an MSD cap/rotor is a fine, temporary solution to a problem that will not go away. Everything that leaks coolant converges directly over the optispark. The Optispark is a tow truck driver's dream come true.
I got a black 87 I don’t like blue but looks good. Mines my water pump went out and fuel cane out the vacuum hose and the engine caught on fire cost me another $500. I get a lot of looks in it tho 😅
Thanks for watching and commenting! Be sure to check out the first mods and repairs video for this car!

Very nice !
Look under the rear cargo door behind the drivers seat an see if the tag says Z51 in the bottom line of numbers..
1988 here. Z52 suspension option.
White with smoke glass tops. I'm a Racing Engineer and it's one of the best cars ever. 🇺🇸
Very nice, a lot of car for the money. The C4s are going to come back in demand I think. I am restoring a 1990 ZR-1 with 78,413 miles. Got the engine running recently and she sounds good. I'm getting there. Enjoy your car it's a fine looking ride. 👍👍🏁
Thanks! Good luck with your ZR-1. I hope to own one of those someday 😁.
Good luck with the car. Looks great. We own two. A 90 with 80k and a 91 with 12,500 miles. Both are ZR1s. Fun fun fun. C4s are great to own.
Be careful when you clean engine and drivetrain. Degreasers will cause the mono leave springs to crack. Coming from a 25 year Corvette guy. I learned my lesson years ago the hard way. Great looking car for its age!

My dad had a '89 convertible in the dark blue metallic with the saddle colored seats and the saddle colored soft top
Forgot to mention that I have a '89 it is a couple in the bright red with saddle colored seats with the smoked colored removable top
I love c4 corvettes, im only 14 but my grandpa has one from 94, and it is the limited edition black rose
I bought a 1984 tbi car used in 1985. I wasn’t sure if it was a good idea. I had the car until 2015. Sold it for $ 2500 to a nice 19 year old boy. I had nothing but great luck with this car. I’m 27 and this is probably my favorite car next to an 88 Monte
Ikr 😍
I had 84 SS monte white snowflake wheels
Monte Carlos are my other favorite cars. I had a 78 and a 79, but always wanted an SS.
I actually like the 06 and 07 model even tho they are FWD. they look really good with iroc rims 🤤
I got A 87. i LOVE him. clean car. work in progress. Always down for more c4 buddies!
Very nice. Welcome to the family.
My grandfather has a 1989 C4 corvette Indianapolis 500 pace car and his Indy pace car corvette is one of 100 in the world.
Really nice one with that color. I have a 1990 that I know inside and out. But I do think the '89 is the peak of the C4. It was still dominating at the track and on the street and it has all the updates, while still retaining the atari dash and the classic body.
Nice color ! One day c4 will be a desirable car again !
Nice find! Smart to buy. That is the 'Vette I would buy, '89. I want the digital dash at the latest model year.
My dad had one when I was just born a white 89 with red interior gorgeous vette like yours...my father let it go long ago and still misses it....it's a keeper for sure and nostalgia is growing on that Vette.... congrats 👍😉
I had an 89 Conv in deep blue....such a hot car!! Miss it to this day.
Welcome to the club. I got a 1990 black one at the beginning of summer for $3200. Body was a bit rough but only had 93k original miles. Needless to say, as summer winds down, there are now 98k on the car so that says it all.
Nice!
Your 89 C4 is awesome, I personally like the interior and body more than the later 90s style.
Thank you!

I just paid $10,000 for a 89 convertible... Paid more than it was worth, but I figure with only 14,000 miles on it why not ... I'm thrilled to own it ... My first one also at 73 years of age ....
Great story, wow 14,000 miles is like new. Enjoy it.

Just got my 89 in deep red metallic. Enjoy the ride!
No rust for a 1989 that's great 👍
Nice vette Bro! I agree with you that that metallic blue is super cool! Enjoy!! 👍
Congratulations! Overall, a very nice car! Impressive that it's aging so well. I have two C4s. A 1987 red convertible with 50,000 original miles and a 1985 coupe scheduled later this year for a complete restoration.
USA1 is all that needs to be said about your blue beauty!!!!!

Just found your channel. I got my first corvette august 16. A 94 Polo green coupe. Thanks for the content!
Thanks and congrats! There’s much more content coming so make sure you subscribe so you don’t miss it!
Nice C4 !! Love the color! I bought a 89 C4 last year and I love it. Just one thing, check original pictures of C4 corvettes when they came out because your rims are on backwards. 👍👍
Thanks! I fixed the rims in this video: ua-cam.com/video/f1RKLZkjlVc/v-deo.html.
This vette is cherry! I’m loving the channel.
The perfect motor for the automatic is the L98, torque in all the right places!
Yhep we don't like corvettes jejejeje😂😂😂
You got a beautiful C4. Use it and have fun brother. Remember is not the car that have to be perfect, is how happy it makes you every time you are behind the wheel. 😎
Absolutely gorgeous.. beautiful car. She's a keeper.
Thanks!
Nice car and equipment package. I too have a 1989 I just bought with 65k miles on it and I love it. Yours is the only dark blue one of that era I've ever seen. Beautiful color. I'm tuned in and I am adding C4 content to my channel as well @Things With Wheels !
Looks clean. Very affordable

Need to change out those original bilsteines shocks..If the heat doesn't work check to see if the heater core isn't by passed.Good luck!
Black Sapphire Metallic. It's on your build sheet. And was on my build sheet that I retrieved from the top of my gas tank (-;
the 89's a great year!
Thats very nice. Plus very nice added parts!
Thanks!
The paint is very nice and navy blue is a wonderful color as well.
👍
Nice car brother. welcome to the Vette family :)
Nice car man , I’m a vette guy all my life, I have a 1987 c4 myself, looking to add a c7 in the near future 😎
New sub😎
Absolutely gorgeous car! Awesome find👍🏼
Beautiful car, I just bought my second C4 it's an 86 convertible. It almost perfect just stupid clear coat. The wheels are on the wrong side on my car as well. Enjoy that beautiful car.
Thanks, you too!
Thanks for sharing and looking forward to your mods.
The muffler eliminators sound good if you can put up with the drone at highway speeds.
Really diggin clean C4s lately. Good find there!
Thanks, Rob!
nice blue paint. A little blue smoke too.
Dude! Sick car! I love that color. You're right. It's rare. I thought maybe you were going to say it was repainted. The previous owner(s) certainly took great care of it.
wheels are on wrong sides :)
Yep. Good eye. Switching them back is on my to do list 😁.
I have an 87 and I have some of the same issues. But the car runs and drives great. I have a bunch of small things that need repair. I've gotten some things done, but I have a ways to go.

I was able to fix it 😉: ua-cam.com/video/6MeLzDi1S9w/v-deo.html.
Very nice! I have a black 1986 C4 with 47 K miles. First thing I did was a muffler delete and added LT1 tips. The car sounds great! Like it should sound even tho the cats are still on.
Did you buy a muffler delete kit and do it yourself or did you take your car to an exhaust shop to have it done?
I bought the delete kit but took it to a local muffler shop. I have a white 89 with 6 speed . I get 26 miles to the gallon highway if I'm cruising . Love it
Awesome find bro ! Congratulations she's gorgeous!
It looks good man I hope you're enjoying it. That paint job and condition is sick 👍👍
That vette looks amazing compared to mine LOL, great video man
Thank you sir 🙏.
Great looking car, I don’t know how rare it is but it is definitely nice.
Thanks!
Very nice, enjoy it.... I love my C4! The previous owner(s) did some great things to make it better and keep it in great shape. :) Plenty of help on the Corvette Forum, C4 section.
Excellent condition for its age, love the color! Personally I wouldn't straight pipe it.. Magnaflow will give zero restriction and a nice deep tone.
Two things that went bad on my 88. Headlight motor went out and blew a head gasket. Luckily it was under warranty for the engine work.
Great color and you are right about the color being rare. My uncle had an 89 the same color with a powder blue interior.
Nice Car, nice color - with a ZF manual it would be perfect. I'm thinking of buying one too, but a 89 with manual are quite rare here in Germany. Now checking your other Videos what rims you got 🙂
You could always get an automatic and swap it to manual with a T56 or T56 Magnum.
L98 Corvettes were NOT known for running hot or overheating. 180° thermostat is standard on these. Put in a 160° and it will run cooler again, and the L98 will like that even more since the hot coolant flows through the intake manifold.

Welcome to the Corvette C4 family...
Beautiful color. Do you find it hard to get in and out?
Being a vette owner, based on your video, your looking at about 3,000.00 in repairs, if your not doing the work yourself. But all in all the car looks good, welcome to the family...
Beautiful car...welcome to the Vette family
You know these are actually supposed to run "hot" right something like 220 230 factory
Straight pipes from cats back sounds good to me! No mufflers
Great find... I look forward to your videos... c4s are so nostalgic for me
She's a Beaut!!!! Hope to join the club one day soon :)
Congrats and nice choice. '89-'91 was the sweet spot for the base C4. I love my '96 but absolutely HATE HATE HATE the infamous dreaded abysmal Optispark. I would gladly give up 50 hp to lose that wretched POS.
Yep, I had a 92 Trans Am LT1 that the optispark took a dump on me - sold the car
@Robert Leonard If your OEM bearing isn't shot, an MSD cap/rotor is a fine, temporary solution to a problem that will not go away. Everything that leaks coolant converges directly over the optispark. The Optispark is a tow truck driver's dream come true.
This is tortillas dude!!
That is a thing of beauty ❤ I love corvette! ❤
I have a '91. The windshield squirters didn't work. It turned out to be just a kinked hose from the reservoir.
I love it. That's my fav. C4!
Picked one up a month ago with the same paint color, but my interior is beige.
Cool! What year?
I got a black 87 I don’t like blue but looks good. Mines my water pump went out and fuel cane out the vacuum hose and the engine caught on fire cost me another $500. I get a lot of looks in it tho 😅
Engine degreaser will discolor the valve covers. Turn them a pink-ish color. Looks like someone has already done that.
Valve covers are made of magnesium and normally discolor on many C4’s. Can be refinished for about $40.
Nice choice 👌🏼
I also have 89 vette, its awesome.
MY GOODNESS MAN, GRT FIND, CONGRATS, GOTTA FIND ONE LIKE DAT! MY 79 WAS SIMILAR IN CONDITION.. KEEP THE STOCK WHEELS :)
Yeah the 89 wheels I think were the best looking ones for that body style. I swapped my 86 ones out for the 89's. Looks real good on the convertibles.
These have the softest looking leather seats on any car I think I've ever seen.
your correct. i have a 1989 corvette same color. they are rare
