Finishing prototyping the 3.0 model right now. Massive overhaul from the 2.0 with lots of upgrades. I'll be sure to contact you when it is done. Hopefully should have a finished prototype in the next 4-6 weeks.
I would be surprised if someone didn’t already suggested it but try IGL wheel, easiest application I have ever used and durability is a year+ easy, I know you already found the new wheel coating but just try it on something!
I always thought the coating being grabby on wipe off meant you haven’t waited long enough for it to flash, and would love to see this compared to C5 topped with exo since that’s a dedicated wheel and high heat metal coating
Matt absolutely love your channel. Just received my first order from OG. Although it was just bucket decals, they are of high quality and shipping was very quick. Look forward to ordering more products from your site because you seem spot on! Keep up the good work!
Hey Matt- another nice combo would be Carpro SiC on top of DLUX. SiC just came out not to long ago. I know Gliss has been around for some time now. SiC is Acid and alkyl resistance from 2-13PH levels . Direct from CarPro - Features: Acid and alkyl chemical resistance from 2 ~ 13 pH. Better water spots and minerals resistance. Highly smooth feeling. Deep gloss. Very easy application in any temperature. Tech specifications: Sliding angle: 10 ̊. Water contact angle: 110 ̊. Heat tolerance: 392 ̊ F. Application temp. range: 50 ̊F ~100 ̊ F. Surface finish: High slickness. Gloss: Mirror Shine. Chemical resistance: 2 ~ 13 pH. Mineral resistance: High (easy to remove). Salt resistance: Medium.
Loving this e36 series. I have '98 M3 in Estoril blue. @Matt think about HID or LED headlights and fogs. At least change out the stock plastic headlights with glass.
The flip side of the silver making it "hard to see what you're doing" is that it's harder to see high spots, so you don't need to be as careful with the wipe-off. That's my theory anyway.
Matt, you need to design and produce an OG wheel coating applicator. I have tried so many different types including just using the suede like you do but all have their drawbacks.
Looking good Matt. DLUX is indeed old school and does a good job as a wheel coating. I recall CarPro revising their instructions where no leveling is needed. I tend to wipe it off as well as I am used to that. Also keep in mind that Gliss doesn't do well if hit with Tarx as that will degrade it and in some cases remove it. If you ever decide to look into wheel coatings again, I have found that 22ple VM1 does a better job and is much easier to use with longer longevity than DLUX. You won't get that tacky feeling like DLUX.
That is pure SiO2 and coatings are not pure SiO2. In general wheel coatings have a higher temperature resistance. Some paint coatings have a higher temperature resistance than what Matt was using. Matt was using Crystal Serum Light which resist temperatures as low as -40°c to as high as +250°c. CarPro DLUX has a temperature resistance of 800°c. Gtechniq C5 is around 500°c. 22ple VM1 blows either of these out of the water so to speak in overall performance.
The grabbiness in removing the coating is because you have not allowed enough flash time, the time can vary from outside temperature, humidity, etc.. if it's grabbing/smearing then you need to allow more time, and you should start your timer after you have finished applying the coating, not at the start.
I put CSL and EXO on my daily driver BMW X4M about 6 months ago. The black HRE’s retain horrible break dust (thank you in part to BMW having the worst brake dust on the planet). How would I remove the current product to redo or can it be applied over it? I am sure it will have to be compounded, but you said it only lasts about six months on a daily, so thought I’d ask.
While BBS E87’s are gold, those LTW’s are sick. Keep those on the car. Also keep the TC’s. Plenty for the car, then you can focus on the maintenance and engine upgrades. And the slicktop conversion like tommy said!!
It’s got to be Gtechniq WheelArmor for me. Easy to apply and has been so great on my daily driver. Top it off with either bead maker or Angelwax wheel wax. Great combo
Coatings specifically for wheels/calipers tend to be gummier. Gyeons Rim is very similar where it goes on very gummy and doesn't really leave a super slick surface but it performs pretty good. I will have to give this combo a try to see if I like it over Gyeon Rim.
Good job bro! 👍 👍 👍. Me on new rims I made a layer of carpro CQuartz lite, one of carpro gliss v2, and finished with meguiar's M799 hybrid ceramic bead booster as a top coat !. And I am very satisfied with it! For the moment it holds very well the ferrous decontaminants (iron decon D1801) without contact because no need to rub!
Is this product still your go to? I’m going to do mine this weekend and doing a lot of research on different products. They’ll be going on STi BBS that are powder coated
I was told today by the Detailer ceramic coating my 2023 Range Rover he does not ceramic coat the barrel due to wheel weights not always sticking to the inside after the wheel has been ceramic coated. He says they can come off. Is this a legitimate concern? Or should I push the barrels to be done?
What do you guys use for bare aluminum? I’m in Southern California and can get away w/ aluminum barrels on my BMW BBS Style 29 RC040/RC041’s... but I still need to do a full blown clean and de-oxidation every year.
What's the best wheel coating? I used the Gyeon Q² Rim, but it wasn't as good as I expected, I need a long lasting coating (6 Months or more) for my silver / polished BBS RM 012
Good Morning, ty for all the insight. I live in Pensacola Florida. Do you know of any person or companies that are reputable in detailing? Ty for your help
Off topic but did you guys take the door jamb/trunk towel off of the site? Been looking for it everywhere. It’s the only one I need to complete the entire collection lol
Probably not. A B&B coating is unlikely to outperform the big boys like CarPro and Gtechniq. Not saying it isn't possible, but this stuff is good to the point that I don't feel the need to chase at the moment.
Well if you are all about using some of the best products on the market. I guarantee if you would try T9 you will never use CSL again. Only one layer needed and no topper and way slicker than CSL. But that’s your choice if you want to use an inferior product. John Walters I’m sure not everyone who buys stuff from Matt is a huge fan of him but he provides information and services that you can’t get elsewhere. Matt did you ever think you would be using Dlux on your wheels probably not, but hey it works. T9 for the win!!!!!!!!
Those applying gliss in areas of humidity need to work a littler faster because it will flash very fast. Matt is working in a climate control so he has more time.
WRT how long you'll keep the E46, I think you'll lose interest once you've dialed this car in. It's about the journey and not so much about the destination.
DLUX is a bit harder to work with but the stuff is just really good. Love this combination!

Keep building awesome Sam! Looking forward to placing my order soon!
Used DLux also on some BMW wheels and now the brake dust comea off much easier. Survived a very salty winter in Saskatchewan, Canada!
Naples Auto Awesome HAHA I think we need a name change now
What a champ!
Who needs armor when you have AWESOME!
Put this on my father in laws beamer. He loves it and it seems to be lasting a while and still works like new!

Carpro wants 1 minute afterwards its supposed to grabby when you remove it.

Yes, this is the one.

Just in time for my freshly powder coated wheels

KKD revolve X is incredible. Blows gtechniq and gyeon out of the water
Have heard good things about Kamikaze Stance
What happened to the DS2 Sunflowers?
Should try angelwax legacy wheel and caliper
Curious for my own knowledge Matt, and I'm sorry if it was discussed before, but instead of Dlux or Exo, why not use Gtechniq C5 Wheel Armor?
It doesn't work.
Good Morning, ty for all the insight. I live in Pensacola Florida. Do you know of any person or companies that are reputable in detailing? Ty for your help
What's the diff between wheel coatings and ceramic coatings that you apply to the paint?
wheel coatings are specialized for higher heat and chemical as well as longevity at the sacrifice of some water behavior properties
Off topic but did you guys take the door jamb/trunk towel off of the site? Been looking for it everywhere. It’s the only one I need to complete the entire collection lol
Yes, I use the Orange towels for that now. The Yellow Polish removal towel is the same as my old Purple door jam towel.
where can we get those wheel stands ??
How is DLUX on trim? Is this what we are using for trim coating?
It works, but I like EXO on the trim.
Are u going to try shine supply beadlock pro one day on paint???
Probably not. A B&B coating is unlikely to outperform the big boys like CarPro and Gtechniq. Not saying it isn't possible, but this stuff is good to the point that I don't feel the need to chase at the moment.
Matt do you ship this stuff to Slovenia? I'd like a sample to try it out, it looks sick my man. Nothing good here in EU.
We do.
@@ObsessedGarage Alright great, I'll try and order something. Thank you sir.

Yep, it will work well.
What's up Matt, I'm still waiting on the restock of the pressure washer solutions. Them bitches sell out fastt!!
can this be applied to matte wheels too?
Yes, it will work well on those too.
You should give DPC coatings a try.

make sure you balance the wheels before you coat wheels. Otherwise the stick on weights are going to fall off
Hey Matt! Check John at forensics detailing. He is on the mission to find a perfect spray bottle too!
What about Gtechniq C5 wheel armor? That’s what I use with great results.
That's the worst of all of them. It goes on easily, but does almost nothing.
I think you should keep it, value will prob keep going up and up
Gloss is great but longevity left a lot to be desired
Best ceramic coating for headlights?
I use DLUX on my customer’s and my own cars. It’s for wheels and plastics. Longevity is pretty good considering how beat up headlights get.
