These dudes are FUCKING KILLING it. Sound better than they did in the 80's
Magnificent drumming from Dennis Duck pushing things along.
Just discovering these cats. The album they released in mid 80's was easily as good anything Tom Verlaine did with Television. So glad they're still playing and sounding savage. Huge talent on display here. Big up KEXP for giving them global reach.
This is absolutely maddening. I cannot get over the sound. IT is better than it was live some 35 years ago. Steve Wynn is sounding his best.
One of the best Neo Psychedelic Rock bands incomprehensibly underrated and that will forever be part of the soundtrack of my teenage years. In their album "The days of wine an roses", perhaps their most relevant work, they reached the highest levels of rock at the time. From what can be seen they have not lost the "feeling" of their best times.
Beautiful concert that has transported me to my best years of youth.
Magnificent !!!
Absolutamente majestuosos. Me han dado fuerza para vivir desde que los conocí con 17 años y tengo ya 54!!!! Thanks a lot for your extraordinary sound. Especially your bass line. Perfection to my ears!!!!!!❤
53 here and agree 💯
This obviously wasn't about giving those old songs one more playing for the people who remember them. They were playing for real. What an outstanding performance. Up there with Live at Raj's
Well, this just plain out frickin' rocks doesn't it? As an earlier poster said, sounding even better than they did in the '80s. Dream Syndicate have always been a seriously underrated band, great to hear them in this form.
Just saw this for the first time today. You hit the nail on the head with your comments. It frikin' rocks! Enjoy your day. Thanks.
My Dad had bought a live album by them sometime in the 80's having never heard them before or maybe they were playing it in the record store but I loved it John Coltrane Stereo Blues is one of my favorites!
@@davedude1969 Brilliant track, David.
Love this... dueling Jazzmasters. That was a treat!
noticed that!
Great band. I was lucky enough to get a chance to talk with Steve a couple months ago. Wonderful guy.
Awesome trip through memory lane. I was one of the worst college DJs to ever to grace the cable waves. One of my best/worst memories was interviewing Steve Wynn of Dream Syndicate in 1983. My LA teenage life was saved in the late 70s from a heavy metal hell by Nick Lowe, Iggy Pop, Television, and , of course X. I came to love the LA punk sound and really loved Dream Syndicate I was going to Dream Syndicate Show the next night when I was doing my show and and one of the DJs who was high school friends with Wynn brought him by during my show unannounced. I was unprepared, star-truck, and tongue-tied. But Wynn was such a kind soul that he bailed me out to pretty much interviewed himself. He eventually veering into questions that led him to tell about lurid sex shows in Tijuana the night before the people talked about for a long time. It was brilliant. I had long since given up on any thoughts of a career in media so it did not sting for long. Hope this tour comes to my town
And John Coltrane Stereo Blues is more refined than ever. Brilliant post-punk pacing. Amazing. Make you realize how far out in front of a bunch of other people they were at the time.
Daniel Hickey Don't suppose you have any tapes of your old radio shows? Anyway, nice story. My life too was changed by those bands.
At 17:45 they skip in to the "Break on Through (to the Other Side)" from The Doors. Awesome. New Dream Syndicate album will be out in September 2017.
Amazing performance. Thank you! I saw them at the Troubadour in the mid-80's, after their release of the Medicine Show. Standing room only. I was turned away at first, but I told the bouncer I had driven down from Canoga Park, so he finally let me in. Paul Cutler had replaced Karl Precoda on lead guitar. Both are great, but I have a slight preference to Karl's raw-ness. Most of the people seemed to be there for the Medicine Show songs. (I'm more a fan of the Days of Wine and Roses album.) About a third of the way into their set, they played "Tell Me When It's Over" ... awesome! Steve asked the crowd if we knew that song. We cheered, but he shot back "bs".
I was in the back, and as the show progressed, I asked (shouted) them to play Halloween. Steve heard me, shook his finger "no", as to say, "we don't play that anymore". Got it. He didn't think the crowd knew "Tell Me When It's Over", so why play "Halloween". I didn't give up. At the end of the concert, I shouted "Days of Wine and Roses". To that, Steve approved with "ok ... here's one from the past". It was incredibly emotional, and the best performance of any song by any band i have seen live.
Very glad to see them back playing again. Dennis Duck, Mark Walton ... awesome as ever. The new lead guitarist sounds great, too. I wish I could have seen the circa 1982 line-up with Karl and Kendra Smith, too.
The LA scene was pretty varied and awesome those days: The Dream Syndicate, X, Bangles, Go-Go's, Motels, Lone Justice, Los Lobos, The Three O'Clock, Plimsouls, Red Hot Chili Peppers.
I saw them circa 1982 with the original line-up and this set is as good as any I saw then. They're on fire here, as if they're playing these songs for the first time. Stunning performance.
"I got Dream Syndicate on the stereo baybee it's going to be all right." 🎶❤️
They still have the Spirit of their 1st n 2nd LPs! Energetic!
Wohh... the first chords sounded and it took me back to those years, they sound so good... not better !! 👌🏽💖
I was so privileged to be one of the last folks to sneak in for this show! They are so ON here, it is crazy! I am looking forward to the new release and the tour!
Love those itchy guitars. Played the record in the 80's only after midnight...
Great show on KEXP, see and learn!
If there's a better twin guitar attack in rock'n'roll, I've never heard it! Astoundingly good band, they always have been.
I agree....a whole new tighter feel since their presence in the 80's
Love them saw them in the mid eighties great little following in the UK Still awesome today !!!
what a performance. Simply outstanding!
Amazing performance. Very good sound and it seems they enjoyed to perform these songs. Happy band, happy music.
Still love you here in Italy.
Just one word: rock 'n' roll
One of the best bands of all time!!!!
I only have two DS lps,THE DAYS...and OUT OF THE GREY. About five years ago I tried to find a cd copy of THE MEDICINE SHOW(no turn table then). No luck. Record shop tried to order one but told me it wasn't on cd. Have a turntable now but money is super tight. Someday. LP is available at same shop. These guys are STILL KILLING IT!! WAY more vital than a TON of older bands who should quit(won't say which ones;lol).
After all this
years they still sounding great !!!
This is Rock n´roll. Amazing perfomance.
these guys still rock! great stuff.
This! Perfect for this troubling time.
great to know they,re still around and kickin,.upload us more of their shows if possible.awesome!
Holy shit! Thanks was so good ❤
Saw them at Rough Trade in Brooklyn a few years back. Truly Great! Having a summer party and engage Steve for an acoustic set.
Great Music!!
How the years pass first heard DS in 1983, and got the chance to see them play at the Marquee London in 1984 .They were awesome .Not too shabby here !
This is really great stuff... Holy heck, the Velvets influential arms hugged these guys hard!!!
Immense.
keep on rockin' guys. thanks for the great trip.
The Days of Wine and Roses is an amazing song
Oh my Lord! Dreams do come true! Day, made.

Truly BRILLIANT.
Grazie mille :-)
Magical band!
BRILLIANT.
Immense !!!!!!
dream syn... muy buenos músicos, buen ritmo
WOW!!
Sempre grandi
Great show, great band, love the clam the bass player hits around 1:12, they keep going over the top of it, even though it makes it hard for Steve to sing in the original key. Professionalism rules.
Dueling Jazzmasters
a bit of Captain Beefheart .... where is the guitarist from ?
Esta noche en Loco Club Valencia. Allí estaremos.
Cool video!
Cool seamless transition to a partial Doors cover! neat!
Tout est là ! comme si rien était !!!?
Terrific! The only way it could have been better was if they had performed "Halloween" in that set.
Fucking awesome.
Fucking Killing it indeed!!
Quality.
BRA OOO BUENOS, MUY BUENOS
grande band bentornati
Paisley underground rockin a paisley shirt
Damn. They have no reason to sound this good!
Txitxarron Dresm S. Nere lagunskin k. GRANDE!!
Tone!
...and they just finished sessions for the first Dream Syndicate album in almost 30 years! Can't wait for the album and a US tour in 2017. I saw their first US show in about 25 years back in 2013, and it was incredible. They opened with See That My Grave Is Kept Clean, and I was standing just a few feet away from J Mascis and his wife. Steve Wynn is the best, Jason is incredible and a really nice person, Mark and Dennis just a perfect combo. Wishing great things for these super musicians.
nice paisley
beautiful..... buttato my Dream....Syndicate is with karl precorso who know where is he
Cooking and cleaning!
si tu bateria tocara the dream syndicate seria la hostia
Either the two guitarists are (twin) brothers or clones.
Were is KENDRA???????
Steve sounding more Dylanesque out of the gate here. What's the deal with Medicine Show and its associated A&M live release not being on streaming? Just generally being unavailable? Was there some kind of pissing match with A&M? Still????
Amazing job of Jason Victor on guitar, much better than Karl Precoda or Paul Cutler.
He is playing with Wynn since early 2000s
ira kaplan
Moonlighting from Yo La Tengo.
Buena influencia.
... but part of me still misses Paul B. Cutler...
Ghostbusters
Is that the 80s Dream Syndicate or am I just wrong ?
I think it is. A quick google told me they kinda reunited in 2012 and did / are doing a european tour this year due to the 30th anniversary of medicine show.
Desteny6 thank you, I was hesitating cause they were with Kendra Smith in the 80s, which seems like it's not the case anymore
Peyote Trash Kendra Smith was only on the first record, current bass player Mark Walton joined in 1986. Guitar player is Jason Victor, who plays in Steve Wynn's Miracle 3. Drummer Dennis Duck has been with the band since the beginning.
Dinosaur Jr. Spacemen 3 Pavement Will Oldham Teenage Fanclub
yr welcome
only 3 guitars and 1 percussion
sorry. beautiful but my Dream........Syndicate is with karl precoda. who know where is?
hes a college professor
@@MrBLieve
He was teaching cinema and cultural studies at Virginia Tech. I don't know if he's still there.
That is Karl Precoda isn't it? He made this band great.
It's Jason Victor.
Try not to hire videographers who cut the artists' heads off and use too many close ups which make it impossible to watch the whole band at once or observe the interactions between musicians.
Has to be the most whitest band in history.
You mean more white than the Average White Band?
Whiter than the White Stripes!
+Eric Wilken whiter than white snake!
Whiter than Dr. Feelgood?
