saw them twice in Austin, TX in the 80s. 2nd time they were the opening band for The Members (I'm in love with a working girl.) I left after Dream Syndicate and went to another club to see The Big Boys and TSOL.
My first real show. Pressed against the monitors up front at The Palace or Madame Wong’s. I don’t remember but I can’t forget how these guys changed my understanding of what music could be...
I bought this cassette when most music stores only sold cassette and punk rock was very much alive. I bought the cassette based on the group's physical appearance. You guys say velvet underground influence. These guys are punk. I loved this album.
Tremendo EP, de los mejores que he escuchado, en esta etapa ya se escuchaban como una banda capaz de hacer obras maestras como The Days Of Wine And Roses..
I would love to have the original 12", but I did pick up a cool Double 7" version at Re cord Store Day this winter! Kinda amazing that this was their first recording and first release.
I have a copy of this on the "Down There Records" label. I also have the self-titled Green on Red Ep on the same label. IIRC, I bought them on the same day...
A couple of weeks ago, Days of Wine & Roses full album appears,f**k yeah put in playlist ok. Didn't last 24 h ! For 2nd time ! I can't figure out the criteria to choose what stays or not!
Shrinkwrap 1988-2013 You'd imagine The Dream Syndicate were hugely influenced by the Velvet Underground. Pick up a copy of "Please Kill Me: The Uncensored Oral History Of Punk", The Dream Syndicate's relation to the Velvets is explained in depth, within the first chapter (or second, I forget). And don't forget to buy a copy of this, to support the band.
I used to say that it "out-Velvets" the Underground This and TDOWAR were real GAMECHANGERS for me...the crossroads of The Velvet Underground, early Neil Young and post punk...
Really loved this band and saw them live way back then. This is still the best record the Velvet Underground never made.
Some of the best psychedelic freakouts of the '80s, reminds me at times of Spacemen 3

Just one of the amazing bands from LA in the early 80's. What a great time it was to live here.
Transcendent Paisley Underground proto rock and or roll pinioned by Wynn's awesome guitar strumming listening to the bells again!

My first show was Joan Jett and the blackhearts at some high school place in Riverside, ca. I wish I could it was it was the Dream Syndicate
Sweet traums are made of dis…gritty yet Velvety
Love this band. They always reminded me of Joy Division but with more grit.
Spot on Paul!
SO good. Inspired me

The eighties.

I still have this on vinyl. Trying to keep my cats from sharpening their nails on my records.
Thanks for adding this! Spotify only has the first LP and I had some kinda itch..appreciate your work in the field of scratching!

1. Sure Thing 00:0
2. That's What You Always Say 4:01
3. When You Smile 8:23
4. Some Kinda Itch 11:33

Este ep demuestra que este formato es ideal para el rock psicodelico. Y que nadie niegue la influencia de los velvet y television.....

Wow,channeling Lou Reed.....very cool.....one would swear it's VU......
At one time they were described as a Velvets cover band that did only their own original material.
Huge! VU all over this one..
happy to own an og vinyl copy... thx for posting this marvel ! ;)
Incredible debut... sounds like lost VU tracks...

3:11 I can hear those bells again!!!!
The Best!
Paisley on Velvet
There is as much/more great music on this e.p. than their entire post Days if Wine and Roses catalog.
Playing live in LA tomorrow!!!
"That's What You Always Say".
Second best shrinkwrap record after the Japan tape with gg
You can dance crazy!!!
"Sure Thing" is better than the Velvet Underground
I used to say that it "out-Velvets" the Underground

No. It isn't . It could never , ever be . Good as this is - its still " Tribute " .
How do you get that rattling- strumming echoey Velvets guitar sound?
so VU.
Does anyone else think that this EP has red lettering on a green background as a possible homage to Green on Red?
no
I remember Green On Red 😎
I had this ep. Hey, can you split this into separate tracks? I'd appreciate it!
So deadly
Sounds remarkably like Joy Division
Jessica Fischer velvet underground too
The Velvet Underground ripped both of them off...and t Feelies, Yo La Tango, Jonathan Richman, Jesus and Mary Chain and a few hundred other acts.
in my humble opinion this is waaay better than joy division.......
Yuk.....bought this album on a whim back in the 80s....awful.
Wish I owned it
