- Metal Gear Rising is on the cusp of turning 10 years old, and I think it's about time we finally got around to talking about the protagonist of one of my favorite games of all time. This character, much like the game they come from, is like a fine wine that has only gotten better over time, and while some only really know about him from various memes, those that have played and enjoyed MGR know him as the badass ninja cyborg with a bit of dorky personality...Raiden from Metal Gear Rising. While MGR didn't introduce Raiden to the world, it was the game that definitely put him on the map, and today, we're going to talk about how "Saucy Jack" can work in Smash Bros.

This has GOT to be one of the BEST Rushdown-based movesets I’ve ever seen! A fantastic combo-game, an expansive rekka special, a command run, and everything in between! Definitely a character who I’d love to play if he were to be in Smash!
I love this fucking moveset. The zandatsu stacks that incentives you to combo and the opponent to approach. His unique normals that would allow him to perform so many combos. His expansive rekka combo special. I love that his throws are style over substance while the specials are substance over style, stealth cutter works well with storm bringer and links him back to snake. I looove the ties with snake dispute how few there are. This moveset was a goddamn blast it sounds so fuckin fun holy shieeet.
I really like Raiden and enjoy MGR a lot so this moveset was really cool to see! I don't generally play rushdown but this has to be one of the coolest rushdown movesets I've ever seen for Smash Bros. So cool it made me want to play the character now! I especially liked the side special, feels like something I'd have a lot of fun doing. :)

I'm pretty sad that the extra weapons weren't shown in Brawlfan's moveset OR yours. If they were to be included in this one I would've made the Ninja Run his normal run with the deflect and two dash attacks, then made the alternate weapons something you switch with Side-B. That would then change certain attack animations and even certain moves/properties (e.g the Sai could turn the grab into a Tether/Zair, Bloodlust could have more kill power/shield damage, and L'etranger could focus on comboes and damage).
As for everything else, I love it. The combo game would be so much fun to watch, I'm happy to see Falling Lightning make an appearance in the moveset as one of my main tools in my first playthrough of the game, and I enjoy the Zandatsu/Blademode mechanic. I'd kinda wanna have the HF Blade be replaced with the Wooden Sword though so the question of why he isn't butchering the other characters isn't brought up.
Those weapons aren't what Raiden is known for.
Also there are already characters using swords in Smash. Wooden sword is unnecessary.
@@mann-nova9392 the difference is that the Alternative weapons would make him more than just a swordfighter and Raiden was specifically about cutting people into gory chubks

This is great!, but if i had to choose somebody from MGR to join it would be Senator Armstrong, our first human tank in smash and i believe he has great potential

I like Raiden, I never played MGR, and I love Rushdown Characters in Fighting games. This was a good Moveset, even better then my raiden Moveset. Good Job!
