Just came back to rewatch these old laker vids to get me pumped… but that face at 18:37….we all know that face. Glad you got redemption in the next video😂
Awwwww nooooooo! I feel like everyone watching this video can relate to the gut sinking feeling. Then the reality really sinks in when you go to bed and you replay everything you did, and how you could have done it differently. Heartbreaking 💔
Holy Murphy.... love it thank you for your kid free language. You attitude is so catchy, your pure excitement of fishing, your smiles and laughter puts me a good mood. Just wish MN twin cities had toads to catch. “ red” and “green” guy
Clayton Schick Outdoors Love that you show the disappointed as well as the elation. Your passion is great. Keep the videos coming. Can’t wait for day 2!
Wicked to see the fish with those cameras, but the cable...Oi Vey!! Need to rig-up a retractable cord retriever, like the cord on a vacuum cleaner..!! Great video !!!
I know how u feel buddy I lost an 45-50 plus laker in reindeer lake ice fishing with my father it does hurt losing a big fish but all the adrenaline is awesome keep it up and u should go ice fishing with me this February or March in brochet Manitoba would b glad to take u
Awesome. Lake Trout are my favourite fish to target, in that area too. It is also nice to see someone showcasing another trophy lake trout lake other than CWL. There are so many awesome trout lakes in that area. Can’t wait for the next video from this trip!
Dude im so sorry you lost those fish. But thats what brings us back for another day.Great video as alway. You do a great job.Keep up the good work Clayton
Just started watching your videos after I seen you on Jay Siemens great videos. I can tell you have been fishing with Aaron from uncut angling when you set the hook and “oh my goodness” came out lol can’t wait to see what new content comes out
The pain! I can totally feel you on this one. Experienced it for the first time on Clearwater Lake. Lost my fish but then found one tangled in our lines and camera. It had a hook stuck in its mouth and about 25 feet of line, it wasn’t anything big just a 65 cm or so. One thing is that it wasn’t caught on a rod, it was caught on the camera... by the freaking cord... like wtf! What are the odds and who would ever believe it and that’s why I wish I had the gear to tape like you do. Sick setup and awesome job as always.
Thanks for the nice words! All the gear I use to video has taken me years to save up and purchase, finally now I have the proper gear for everything :) Your story is pretty cool!!
Geez Clayton, even my heart was pumping when you had it at the hole! Then nothing. Heartbreaking. You would have heard a four letter word echoing across the water if I was there. I’m surprised you held your composure. 😀
I love all your videos! This one really hits home for me. My first big fishing trip growing up was to Bakers Narrows and Athapap. Made several other trip's up over the years, fishing Pickeral Bay for walleyes and Little Athapap for trout. Never fished much on the big side! I might have to make a trip up to fish lakers though. Keep the videos coming!
I stayed at the same cabin working up there. Work all day fish all night. Super jealous. Keep the videos coming cause our local boy uncut angling is dry on the vids.
Keep up the solid work man. You and Aaron should team up sometime seeing that you guys are both flying solo. Would be cool to see a vid or 2 shot together.
I have a crap memory, but I tell you what …. I remember 2 things vividly....the time I caught a 34 lb salmon with my dad and we should've lost the fish 80 times.....and the other thing I remember...is the pain of every single big fish I have ever lost...its forever stuck in my memory... the laker I lost in a tourney that made us come in second...the first time I took my boat out knowing nothing and hooked...and lost a 10lb walleye..all of the others still stuck in my memory...…..BTW absolutely loving your content man...I need to get up to Canada to ice fish...Lake Erie just wont FREEZE!
Haven't even made it into the video yet but just the fact you get to ride those trails from the lodge to the lake to go fishing is so PERFECT words cannot describe how much I envy you right now!
Awesome day 1 ! Just got back from northern Manitoba had a very successful trip to say the least. Landed a 37 inch and a 40 . 5. Another 39 inch caught in our group. And 2 heart breaks similar to yours. Keep it up. I think If you had one word to describe ice fishing for lake trout it would be UNBELIEVABLE. Can’t wait for day 2. Way to capture it . -Luke M
Sir it is cause of your videos I’ve wanted to make that trip. I’ve worked in the area a few times and have seen how beautiful the area is during the year. (Love the area) Just the other day my wife surprised me with a 4 day 3 night package for 5 trip for my bday!! My only question for you, what is the best time to go? We have done Reed a few times and typically we go mid April. Just wondering if it’s kinda the same?
Honestly, I have done good in all the months up there, but I have also had some very slow times too. It fishes a lot like Reed lake, but the lakers are not quite as aggressive I find. You will love it there!!
Don't expect a response but me and a few buddies are planning to he'd out to Athapapuskow this winter just wondering where is the best place to access the lake ?
Losing a big fish next to the hole or a boat isn't a big deal to me. I saw it could touch it but if you drag it though the hole, net it drag it out of the water it stresses the fish , I don't intend on keeping it and I know the fish is fragile and has a much better chance with a "quick" release. There will be others.
kid riglar filming outside with an underwater camera can be tough. It turned out to be a great move on a few occasions. If I wasn't trying to film I would have been outside all day :)
I suppose that's true, more fun for the audience watching a camera without glare. Now that i think about it I'm really surprised Aaron didn't meet you up there. hahahaha

Heartbreaking for sure brother! I had a big laker take a long run and almost take all the line off my stradic 4000. Managed to get him back only for him to spit the hook 20ft down from the whole. Unfortunately I know the feeling...

@@ClaytonSchickOutdoors thanks man ! They definitely don't give them away at that price but once I get onto to some bigger Lakers maybe I'll take the plunge
Those cameras are great but the biggest Hazard you could have while catching a big fish like that not to mention you hand lining the last couple feet. Your hand has no give that's why you have a jig rod and reel great video just wish you could have landed that Beast
You are 100% right and I've played that image in my head a few times. I did the same in one of my walleye videos last year too.... sometimes I use my hand to line it up but sometimes I end up putting too much pressure. The cameras are great, just need another person :)

Watched this with my 3yr old son. He was devestated when you lost that fish. So we watched the next one just to cheer him up. Great vids.
awww! Thank you for letting your boy watch with you! I love hearing stories of kids watching my videos :)
That is actually howi bribe him to eat his supper. Eat your veggies and we can watch a fishing video. :-)
