Let's be real with all the one card combos around and 1 card insta wins you can easily play a 60 card pile and beat the most skilled duelists wielding the strongest decks just by virtue of how abnormally strong cards are now these days. Grass feels like it'll make 60 card piles weaker and those will be more flexible than a deck dedicated to finding a single one of that dies to ash and dshifter
Thought for sure the skit would be him emerging from his home like a hobgoblin and be like “finally! After all this time I can touch grass!” And the card is lying there on the lawn only for Jillian to mow it
historically paleo was grass's best home as, unlike other grass decks, you didn't need to draw grass to win, but doing so did just put you so far ahead you basically won already
Ah yes, let's see how well this Grass deck does in the metagame! Surely opening Grass in my first 5 cards every game despite being a 1-of doesn't skew the view at all, right?
Why are we still pretending like Grass is the wincon of this deck and not just another extender in this deck’s endless toolbox of extenders? There is absolutely no reason to dedicate so many terrible draws just to finding that card. Same with all the generic end board boss monsters. The deck’s endboard power is concentrated in the ability to recycle decatron up to 5 times during your opponent’s turn to pump out nigh infinite negates. Not some garbage Zelantis + IP setup.
The biggest thing Grass does is promote higher card count decks just to avoid letting the random Grass from giving the opponent infinite material. While most just put more hand traps or going second tools, it also allows for more space to bolster the engine.
I do like just slotting one copy of havnis into a lot of these graveyard focused mill decks. Being able to get stuff into the grave on turn 0 is just such a cool interaction especially if you manage to hit something like Rollback + target
Tbf, Tear (with all Ishizu retrains banned) is peak fun due to the fact that skill and power ceiling go hand in hand. You want to have that sweet power? You gotta start being skillful then in using whatever resources (like cards being milled). Instead of SEFS Generics meta we have. Fucking boring as hell.
@hafizyb the biggest bs take I heard all morning. The deck is super brain dead and plays itself. Only the mirror is skillful because you can just go nuts and shotgun everything.
@@gravemind76 and you're implying that SEFS is not braindead? I’m not really sold on Grass in Tearlaments. With all the names limited, the deck gets incredibly watered down when you bump your list up to 60 cards. this will make your hands FAR worse in the games where you don’t draw grass. The third deck in this video realistically should have been Lightsworn, but MBT just likes Tear. I can’t blame the guy for talking about one of his favorite decks.
Also, afaik people were NOT play grass in that no banlist deck. In general I just DESPISE Tearlaments because they have the "spoiled child syndrome" of stealing my turns while also being very random, to the point I want shifter to remain legal forever.
Just my thoughts but 60 cards in a deck like tear doesn't seem right. Sure grass mill 20 card wins you the game but depending on a 1 of in a 60 card deck with few starters if asking to lose because of bricks. Tear is more than happy to run a list with 48 cards (dont read too much into that number, something else could be better) and a 1 of spell that now essentailly reads "mill 8" all without sacrificing too much consistency.
That skit was so clean he made me think my video froze.

In That Grass Looks Greener, the "dog" (Snyffus) is the only character that is not in shock or terror, as it's filled with murderous intent.
