I'm actually have my motor tore down right now as I comment bc my exhaust cam gear bolt broke and it bent 2of the intake valves so I'm having to do all this work for 2 bent valves and it's cool bc my car is candy pearl white just like yours I believe but I'm learning a bit from you on your videos as I go , but if there's anything you might could do to help me out with parts or a ything please let me know I would be highly appreciative of you , your awesome tho I love to watch y'all do the damn thing lol I work for Nussbaum and I build the car lifts while everybody else is building the carvana tower stuff and it's Kool bc it's actually German people that own the company and the owner is a woman and she's so Hot 🔥 but yeah lol

Best part is reselling what you don't need for a track car to recoup your money!!! I have done this and gotten a few track chassis for almost nothing! Cage is absolutely necessary, and one of the first things you should do in any serious track build. Its already gutted and the chassis reinforcement is where I always start. Next I tackle the suspension bits, usually all the spherical bearings/ delrin/ poly, subframe/ chassis reinforcement tabs, then the coilovers, sways and camber plates. You get the idea. You should run some lexan windows as well. Not sure of the name but I really dig your new gear with the DT logo and all. The hats and jackets look great. Will be interested to see the DT livery on this mk5. Doing a full cage with gussets, 'nascar' bars, a-pillar dimples, rear x, etc??? A 6 point or more is the best. I have done a few cages for my BMW track cars (what I specialize in,) and with the RWD platform the diff pickup point reinforcements are mandatory. On a FWD it isn't as important but obviously tying in the strut towers is. You could take it a step further and tube chassis the front end through the firewall past the front towers and make a removable front section/ bash bar for ease of removal of the drivetrain. I like to do this whenever possible. Would work especially well on the mk5 due to the more complex radiator support with all the cores and such stacked up together. Quickly removable rad support front section gets things expedited quickly and easily, especially if you have something go wrong at the track. Always a bummer to lose a track day screwing around with that type of stuff. I also love to use quarter turn dzus, nutserts, and any quick release fasteners/ mil-spec breakout/ pass-through connectors whenever possible. Simplistic and function over form= a winning recipe for any track car. Great channel you fellas got going here. Very underrated. You deserve many more subs. Thanks again for sharing your progress!👍👍

I don’t suppose you are going to make a video on how to change the cam chain and tensioner on a tfsi, as need to do mine but there’s no guides I can find on UA-cam?

There's a couple out there but they're named strange and are difficult to find. How I found them currently alludes me. I actually thought about making a video when I did mine because really it's so much easier then people make it out to be (especially if you're doing a preemptive replacement and don't need to do a full timing)
@@caseys8124 yeah ive seen one video but it wasn’t very thorough and I’ve seen posts on forums but a step by step video is what I really want to see don’t wanna get half way though the job then get stuck. 😂
@@jakeedwards5332 if your timing is fine then this is basically the steps i used. Disassembly can be easily found online. Basically remove battery, tray, vacuum pump, hofp and any hoses in the way. Make sure motor is at TDC. Then make a mark on the cam caps/girdle and the cams (this will be very important later on). Insert your cam locking tool. Then go ahead and remove the damper bolt, cam chain and tensioner. Then in order to get the new cam and chain on you're going to have to remove the locking tool (this is where the marks become important), wrap the chain around the intake cam sprocket and then turn the intake cam in order to get the chain that's wrapped around the exhaust sprocket/damper into place. This will probably take a few attempts. If done properly letting the intake cam rotate back after mounting the damper should cause the lines you made on the cams to line back up. The reason you rotate the intake cam is because it won't affect the timing of the bottom end as it's relation to timing is the cam chain. You should be able mount and check that the lines match back up prior to bolting down the sprocket. Prior to torquing to spec you can also hand tighten the damper bolt and turn the motor over to ensure all timing is still correct. If everything good reinstall the locking tool and torque bolt down and reassemble everything else.
If there's anything blatantly incorrect here and I somehow managed to get lucky maybe @Decimal Tenths can weigh in
