Not us watching Jesse having a love triangle with the Found Family Trope and the Deadly Game Trope, knowing damn well that he will choose the Found Family Trope
Ilove how you're like, "I don't pay attention to romance" and then immediately gush about the fake dating trip. I'm a sucker for a any romance trope, but enemies to lovers? I just love that progression from "I hate you" to "okay you're not terrible" to "oh shit I like you". That arc hits every time.
I have unfortunately come across many books with the pregnancy trope on Wattpad, let me explain… A woman is in a toxic relationship with a rich, handsome man (often Italian and/or mafia) and he takes her for granted or a miss understanding between them occurs which results in her leaving him. The woman finds out she is pregnant right around this time but doesn’t tell him. A couple of years later they bump into each other and the man notices she has a child that looks just like him and suddenly want to get involved with her again… ugh hate this one!! My favorite tropes are enemies to lovers, childhood friends to lovers and star crossed lovers… which is pretty ironic since I never read pure romance books 😅 Also thank for yet another great video 💜
My favourite trope? is also friends to lovers, but I'm really interested in the pregnancy trope just for fun. Can you give me some story titles? I wanna see if they're really that bad.
I've also seen many where it was a one night stand, then boom pregnant. Doesn't tell the father until years later. I get it, it happens but.... it's not my favorite. Enemies to Lovers is way high up the list for me. XD
i just want a love triangle done that’s actually a triangle, like person A loves person B who loves person C who loves person A. not just two people fighting over the same person and that person having to decide
This is why I believe The Infernal Devices is the only series I've read with a true love triangle. All other books I've read with a love triangle, the two love interests (usually guys) either dislike each other or don't have any strong feelings towards each other.
There is a new book Iron Widow, that has the true love triangle, where both boys love the same girl, but also develop feelings for each other. So good!
Out of these my favorite is probably "fake dating" or "childhood friends to lovers". I mean if those were combined in a story then take my money immediately. Even better if they manage to make it "enemies to lovers too", then you deserve a Pulitzer prize or something. And my least favorite is definitely "miscommunication" - in movies too. ESPECIALLY if a character starts to say something important to another character and then a phone rings or something else interrupts them. Then it better become deadly games real quick.
My favorite trope is definitely the deadly games. It can be magical, it can just have normal weapons, or it can have both. And there's no end to all the cool stuff writers can come up with.
"in the next scene they are using their ability flawlessly" - that's exactly what I thought of the new Star Wars series and their super-duper protagonist)
Best enemies to lovers book I can recommend is The Infinity Courts! Total Enemies to one sided love to two sided love to enemies with love still blossoming! Can’t tell where it goes next though because I still have about 50 pages left in the book 🤭! However it also has found family trope and is a science fiction heist novel!
My choices: 1. Fake dating!!!! Honestly I love it tooo! I want to be in the fake dating trope too 2. Enemies to lovers! Sometimes the chosen one trope can get annoying 3. Anti-hero! Love triangles just annoy me and I agree with you it’s predictable 4. Childhood best friends to lovers! I love the idea of it and I wish I have it. And I’m with you on the “I’m not like other girls” just to advance the males 5. Deadly Games! I recently read One of us is lying which I think is good but also The suicide house which does it in a different then stereotypical 6. It was all a dream! I like this one when it’s done well it’s honestly my favourite. I also like the ones with the plot twist at the end where the start of the book happens in real life 7. I have powers! It’s literally illegal idk why people like it 8. Lost princess. I like it when it’s done different 9. Parents keeping secrets from children! I feel you with the miscommunication trope, I get so frustrated 10. Forced proximity. Honestly it’s so coool when done amazingly
My saves: 1. Fake dating 2. Chosen one 3. Antihero 4. Friends to lovers 💀 5. Found family 6. Forbidden love 7. I have powers?! 8. Lost Princess 9. Parents keeping secrets 10. Forced proximity. I haaaaate friends to lovers. The author just says they've been friends for ages and thats why they get together even though we see NO chemistry. FAVE trope...'enemy protection " where they may taunt and fight but if anyone hurts MC the enemy is "who did this to you?" Or "how dare you touch them like that" 😍😍😍
The daevabad trilogy by SA Chakraborty is a fantasy series with a love triangle which is so gentle you have no idea who will win out and it’s just so fun to root for a team 😂
The book I'm trying to write is a found family, lost princess (not really lost, it was all part of a plan unknown to her. She is not the main main character.) dragon book. Details are still fuzzy but there was/are a war and a lot of death. I have a beginning, sorta middle, and sorta end. It's just me trying to find out how to get from point A to point B. I also have some side stories with more lore to my world.
U mentioned wanting to read more memoirs Jesse. I recommend checking out In Order to Live by Yeonmi Park. It is about a North Korean woman fleeing the country after her sister who fled before her and some of the things she had to endure were just awful. But it is actually rly inspiring as a read.
When Jesse pulled out the "only one bed" trope i was like, "i don't think I've ever read a book that has this trope."... Enter this morning. The first chapter i read while continuing my book from yesterday.. (3 pages in) "When Jeannine had closed the door Camille got conserned "Hey, there's only one bed!" "Of course there's only one bed. This is countryside, not the Ibis -hotel!" (Ensemble, c'est tout) apologies for my very tacky translation, I'm sure the person who actually translated this did a lot better job on this phrase.
Round 1: save fake dating, drop one bed Round 2: save enemies to lovers, drop chosen one Round 3: save love triangles, drop antihero Round 4: save friends to lovers, drop manic pixie dream girl Round 5: save found family, drop deadly games (this was a close one) Round 6: save forbidden love, drop it was all a dream Round 7: save I have powers?, drop student teacher relationship Round 8: save lost princess, drop pregnancy Round 9: save miscommunication, drop parents keeping secrets Round 10: save forced proximity, drop knife to throat Some of these were easier than other. Was going to go into more detail but would have been too long of a comment.
I loooooove enemies to lovers, and I think I’d love fake dating too. It requires character development. What I hate? Friends to lovers. You don’t need to make every friendship, specifically between the opposite sex, into a relationship. A romantic relationship isn’t the end all, be all. Just let them stay friends…

1. Fake Dating 2. Enemies to Lovers 3. Anti Hero 4. Childhood friends to lovers 5. Found Family (wrote it down without even knowing the other option) 6. Forbidden love 7. I have powers 8. Lost princess 9. Parents keeping secrets (I don’t like it but its better than general miscommunication trope) 10. Forced Proximity
My favorite trope, which I hope to remember the next time a booktuber asks for prompts to give book recommendations for, is childhood friends to "enemies"/drifting apart to lovers
I literally had the exact same thoughts as you. The only one I didn't agree with was the Miscommunication versus Adults Keeping Secrets, I would have dropped both of them because I totally can't stand either. The whole thing would play out differently if they just talked to each other!

The further you go down that rabbit hole, the worse it gets but welp if you want to force a tick on the box "enemies to lovers" then you can theoretically pick this trilogy. Tbh I often try to dodge this trope because it often sweet talk fantasizes about bad human behaviour, downplaying vile behaviour in an attempt to make innocent people believe that this kind of treatment to another person is "okay". So in simple words that's the only one I can name straight ahead.
The tropes I would've kept 1) fake dating 2) the chose one (I don't really like either) 3) Anti Hero 4) childhood friends to lovers (I love it so much) 5) deadly games (I'm not a huge found family person) 6) oh, forbidden love but I fully agree with the no relatives please. I think I'll take the parents keeping secret cause it's in Percy Jackson sorta and I didn't hate it 10) forced proximity
to save from spoiling the book im not gonna say which trope this book is for BUT you might like The Book Of Lost Things by John Connelly. it's.... wild and dark and deals heavily with grief
1: fake dating 2: enemies to lovers 3: antihero 4: childhood friends to lovers 5: its a tie!! 6: forbidden love 7: I have powers... though I don't really like this one either... 8: lost princess 9: parents keeping secrets... although I don"t like this one either... 10: forced proximity
One of my best friends as a kid took the whole "fake dating" thing to a whole new level.... she made up a boyfriend who didn't exist and had us fooled or a year. LMAO. With that said... I am a total sucker for the whole fake dating trope in books hahahaha.
Round one: oh nooo lol okay one bed I’m dropping one bed I love fake dating tropes Round two: chosen one lol #sorry Round three: what’s an anti hero?? Lmfaoooo I’ll only drop that because I can’t think of what that one is Round four: I’m dropping manic pixie dream girl or whatever that one was 😂😂😂 Round five: that’s hard damn…. Yoooo okay I’m pleading the fifth 🙃🙃 yes I did that and yes yes I can do that lol 😂 don’t hate me Round six: it was all a dream is buhh bye bye Round seven: I have powers lol 😂 see ya (yes sometimes I read fucked up books) Round 8: Goodbye lost princess 👸 I’m not much into that Trope Round 9: they’re too similar to choose from 🙃🤣🤣 Round 10: uh idk on that one either lol 😂
SAVE! Fake Dating, Enemies to Lovers, Antihero, Childhood Friends to Lovers, Found Family (although I REALLY like Deadly Games), Forbidden Love, I have powers, Lost Princess, Parents keeping secrets ( sneakily trading it with Deadly Games! ) Forced Proximity 🤣
1) Save Fake Dating, dropping One Bed 2) Saving Enemies to Lovers (ofc) and dropping Chosen One 3) Saving Antihero, dropping Live Triangle 4) Saving Childhood Friends to Lovers, dropping Manic Pixie Girl 5) Save Found Family, drop Deadly Games 6) Saving Forbidden Love, dropping It Was All A Dream 7) Saving I Have Powers?? Dropping Student Teacher Realtionship 8) Saving Lost Princess, dropping Pregnancy 9) Saving Miscommunication, dropping Parents Keeping Secrets 10) Love them both, can’t choose, saving them both We had almost the same answers!!
Saving - fake dating (The Love Hypothessis), enemies to lovers (Hate Thy Neighbor - but that one is REALLY spicy... just saying...), antihero (Vicious, kind of?), childhood friends to lovers (People We Meet on Vacation), deadly games (All of Us Villains), forbidden love (OUR VIOLENT ENDS.......), I have powers (Air Awakens), the lost princess (I really don't want to say Throne of Glass, but now I can't think of anything else...But maybe Six Crimson Cranes?), miscommunication and parents keeping secrets? - I hate both - so I'm not choosing :D and as for the last - YUP. I'm gonna go with knife to throat ... (The Cruel Prince... aaaaaaand OUR VIOLENT ENDS!) :D yes... I'm trash...
6:47 Mal and Alina had a terrible childhood friends to lovers imo. (in the book, not the show. Have not seen the show. I have also only read the first one)
Not us watching Jesse having a love triangle with the Found Family Trope and the Deadly Game Trope, knowing damn well that he will choose the Found Family Trope

I just love that progression from "I hate you" to "okay you're not terrible" to "oh shit I like you". That arc hits every time.
It's the best trope xD when it's well done (and not toxic...) is SOOOO SATISFYING!
I have unfortunately come across many books with the pregnancy trope on Wattpad, let me explain… A woman is in a toxic relationship with a rich, handsome man (often Italian and/or mafia) and he takes her for granted or a miss understanding between them occurs which results in her leaving him. But like written well, not with broken English or a lot of grammar mistakes.
I've also seen many where it was a one night stand, then boom pregnant. Doesn't tell the father until years later. I get it, it happens but.... it's not my favorite. Enemies to Lovers is way high up the list for me. XD
Found family is my favorite trope and nothing will ever top it for me. I live seeing relationships blossom between friends so much!
i just want a love triangle done that’s actually a triangle, like person A loves person B who loves person C who loves person A. not just two people fighting over the same person and that person having to decide

The Dark Artifices has a love triangle kinda like that! One of my favorites along with TID one 💖
If I were in an "only one bed" trope situation as a main character, I would just hop on, starfish, and claim the mattress lands as my own 🤣
The only good love triangles I’ve liked are the ones in The Infernal Devices and Legendborn!
true😌
legendborns love triangle was phenomenal
Hold on i didnt know legendborn had a love triangle 👀👀 im only like 30 pages in though rn so
Out of these my favorite is probably "fake dating" or "childhood friends to lovers". I mean if those were combined in a story then take my money immediately. Even better if they manage to make it "enemies to lovers too", then you deserve a Pulitzer prize or something. And my least favorite is definitely "miscommunication" - in movies too. childhood friends to lovers is always an auto-read/ buy for me
I do wish there was more friendship to lovers trope in books as well.
Miscommunication makes me wanna tear my hair off tbh
I'm a simple girl. I will ALWAYS choose found family against anything else. Nothing compares
My favorite trope is definitely the deadly games. It can be magical, it can just have normal weapons, or it can have both. And there's no end to all the cool stuff writers can come up with.
I would have loved some recommendations with some of those tropes 🙊
The “What’s up reader fam” is my daily dose of happiness ❤️❤️
"in the next scene they are using their ability flawlessly" - that's exactly what I thought of the new Star Wars series and their super-duper protagonist)

Oh heck yeah! 👀👀 just bumped it higher on my tbr
No love triangle will ever compare to the infernal devices where I actually liked both options
I hear save one drop one book trope edition and run to see how Jesse drops the love triangle trope.
Almost at 400 subs!!! Congrats 🥳 🎉🥂
My choices:
1. Fake dating!!!! Honestly I love it tooo! I want to be in the fake dating trope too

8. Lost princess. I like it when it’s done different
9. Parents keeping secrets from children! I feel you with the miscommunication trope, I get so frustrated
10. Forced proximity. Honestly it’s so coool when done amazingly
You get me with my feelings on romance in books. It is just not a priority.
To Kill A Kingdom is a great enemies to lovers
Spinning Silver is somewhat enemies to lovers, I really loved to read it, it has a beautiful writing style.
'Can I just drop both of them?'
Me to most of these tropes.
When you haven’t had that great of a day, but at least Jesse uploaded.
The Knife to Throat trope is basically -> The Cruel Prince, and I absolutely love! 🥰😍
My saves: 1. Fake dating 2. Chosen one 3. Antihero 4. Friends to lovers 💀 5. Found family 6. Forbidden love 7. I have powers?! 8. Lost Princess 9. Parents keeping secrets 10. Forced proximity.
I haaaaate friends to lovers. The author just says they've been friends for ages and thats why they get together even though we see NO chemistry.

Some of these were easier than other. Was going to go into more detail but would have been too long of a comment.
Enemies to lovers is my favorite or friends to enemies is interesting
Another video from Jesse. Always brings me joy 💜
Always makes me glad whenever there is a new video...found family (of all the tropes mentioned) is what I liked so far! 😍
I agree, yet childhood friends to lovers? Yeah. Hits the spot for me lol. Just someone knowing you in and out perfectly *chefs kiss*
Can you rec me really great enemies to lovers books? Been wanting to read one of those.
Sees love triangles ~brain instantly switches to Rico mode from Madagascar~ Kaboom!
The fallen kingdom series has a great enemy to lover, along with action, politics, and great characters.
There’s only one bed (top tier)
Enemies to lovers (big fan)
Antihero (my fave)
Childhood friends to lovers
Found family (my other fave)
Forbidden love
I have powers
Lost princess
Miscommunication
Knife to throat
I also hate hate hate reading about miscommunication!!!!
Thanks for posting Jesse!!! Hope you and your family have a merry Christmas! Love ya!!
Thank you for posting Jesse....this was fun
Came for recommendations, stayed for the personality lol
Always enjoy your videos. So relaxing 🥰💙
🖤
90% when people talk about knife to throat trope it’s about THE CRUEL PRINCE. and jesse haven’t read the folk of the air series so obviously he doesn’t know what it he🥺🤭
FYI: it’s knife to the throat while kissing like your life depend that that one kiss 😏😎
The best enemies to lovers has got to be the Serpent and Dove series.
I stan the close proximity trope! It can be so funny! 😂
Early!!!! Your so entertaining to watch and my favorite guy booktuber!!!! Your personality is perfect!!!! What’s your favorite book trope?
Another video full off sunshine❤☀
1. Fake Dating
2. Enemies to Lovers
3. Anti Hero
4. Childhood friends to lovers
5. Found Family (wrote it down without even knowing the other option)
6. Forbidden love
7. I have powers
8. Lost princess
9. Parents keeping secrets (I don’t like it but its better than general miscommunication trope)
10. Forced Proximity
My favorite trope, which I hope to remember the next time a booktuber asks for prompts to give book recommendations for, is childhood friends to "enemies"/drifting apart to lovers
You should do an ultimate round choosing until you only keep one trope!
I literally had the exact same thoughts as you. The only one I didn't agree with was the Miscommunication versus Adults Keeping Secrets, I would have dropped both of them because I totally can't stand either. The whole thing would play out differently if they just talked to each other!
I love your vids and you are so amazing. I was wondering what is your favorite contemporary book?
I DETEST both the miscommunication & childhood friends to lovers! Miscommunication bc it seems to always be thrown in there specifically just to cause drama & not in a realistic organic way & then just dragged out SO LONG till i want to chuck the book at the wall. Then childhood friends to lovers i dont like bc we need more plantonic relationships in books, not EVERYTHING has to be romance! But both theres only one bed & enemies to lovers im a sucker for, especially in fanfiction 😂
I’d love it if you mentioned your favourite alongside the tropes as an example but I know that can be hard 😂
What about a mix and match edition? (A 3 or 4 draw?) You can mix and match up tropes to create a new (future) trope. Maybe even mix and match different kinds of books to create a new story. Could also then try and outline how the mixed books story would play out.
Love your videos jesse
Stay happy and healthy and have an amazing Christmas 🧡
pleasee this video is so chaotic i love it
oh no! How could you drop the HOLY love triangle!?
I think throne of glass had a great love triangle situation tho. No spoilers, but sarah j maas really took love triangles to another level when we got to Heir of Fire iykyk
If writing a book wouldn't take ages, it would be pretty cool to write one with all the dropped (or saved) tropes
🤣🤣😂 Student/teacher relationship thrope can die.💀💀💀💀 You so hilarious
1) Fake Dating ( love the drama )
2) enemy to Lovers ( its fun )
3)Antihero
4) childhood friend to lover
5)Found families
6)Forbiden love 🤔🤧🤭
7) Studen to ....actually is depend on context for me 🙃
8) lost princess
9) miscommunication( but really both should be droped)
10) force proximity
What do you think about the love triangle in red queen? First time I read it, at the beginning I thought it was for sure cal, but then when maven and mare got closer I was so confused! Love that book.
Enemies to lovers... yeah... as I am hobby writing book reviews on wordpress a perfect example popped into my head. My salty rant article was titled plainly "Review: The Diabolic Trilogy" and it's a (who guessed it?) trilogy book series by the author S. J. Kincaid. Trigger warnings are necessary too. If you fall prey easily on narcissistic behaviour etc. then please don't read it. It's volatile!
I love your video Jesse you are great
I love the friends-to-lovers trope, they can be so fun!!
I will never read a love-triangle ever again 😂
I just got a copy of a history of wild places and I’m so exited to read it 👀
Aaaahhhhh I love your videos!!
The outro please 😂😂😂😂

1) fake dating
2) the chose one (I don't really like either)
3) Anti Hero
4) childhood friends to lovers (I love it so much)
5) deadly games (I'm not a huge found family person)
6) oh, forbidden love but I fully agree with the no relatives please. I hate the it's all a dream trope so much. Such a cop out
7) I have powers by 10 fold
8) lost princess. No hard feelings with either
9) God I hate both. I think I'll take the parents keeping secret cause it's in Percy Jackson sorta and I didn't hate it
10) forced proximity
A true example of Enemies to Lovers that is done FANTASTICALLY is Nina and Matthias from Six of Crows 👌🏻
I Love enemies to lovers and found family ♥️
to save from spoiling the book im not gonna say which trope this book is for BUT you might like The Book Of Lost Things by John Connelly. it's.... wild and dark and deals heavily with grief
8:46 EXACTLY
1: fake dating

One of my best friends as a kid took the whole "fake dating" thing to a whole new level.... she made up a boyfriend who didn't exist and had us fooled or a year. LMAO. With that said... I am a total sucker for the whole fake dating trope in books hahahaha.
Here's the ones I'll save:
1. The fake dating trope
2. The enemies to lovers trope
3. Neither
12:09 Awwww sooo cute help
To Kill the Kingdom is peak enemies to lovers trope 💯
Round one: oh nooo lol okay one bed I’m dropping one bed I love fake dating tropes
Round two: chosen one lol #sorry
Round three: what’s an anti hero?? Lmfaoooo I’ll only drop that because I can’t think of what that one is
Round four: I’m dropping manic pixie dream girl or whatever that one was 😂😂😂
Round five: that’s hard damn…. Yoooo okay I’m pleading the fifth 🙃🙃 yes I did that and yes yes I can do that lol 😂 don’t hate me
Round six: it was all a dream is buhh bye bye
Round seven: I have powers lol 😂 see ya (yes sometimes I read fucked up books)
Round 8: Goodbye lost princess 👸 I’m not much into that Trope
Round 9: they’re too similar to choose from 🙃🤣🤣
Round 10: uh idk on that one either lol 😂
A History of Wild Places has such a beautiful cover 😍😍😍😍
The Anthropocene Reviewed is such a fun read omg I looooved it!

I really liked Sky in the deep as an enemies to loves!
A lot of these tropes are more heavily fanfic than published novels and I just realized I never see like any of these
I agree with everything 🤣
HELPPP- Not the pregnancy trope 💀
Pleaase any antihero recs?
Yesss found family is superior!!
6:47 Mal and Alina had a terrible childhood friends to lovers imo. (in the book, not the show. Have not seen the show. I have also only read the first one)
