Thank you for the video, well done. Just replaced my 09 gasket for $40 rather than $200 with the mechanic lol…although those spark plug seals were definitely a pain to take off
Watched this video a few times, just to get the lay of the land....pretty great video for this task. Everything was exactly as noted in the video, but here are my 2 cents: 1. I used a small slotted screwdriver to get the valve seal from the case, by gently inserting the tip of a slotted screwdriver in between the wall and gasket. A mallet with small blows to get the tip started worked for me, once I got some meat, I twisted the screwdriver 180 degrees to deform the gasket several times and pried it out. My gaskets were so hard it was incredible they sealed at all. 2. Gasket Sealant, was added to the 2 spots shown in the video, the other 2 spots mentioned, but not shown in the video were at the front and back base of the curve in the case on the driver side, I also had the benefit of a Honda manual too. All in all, watched the video 4 times, gave myself 4 hours today....and got it done in 1.5 hours, felt like a Rockstar. Highly recommend this video, it is the best one out there for this DIY replacement.
So after replacing spark plugs and ignition coils, I was still getting misfires... cylinder 2 seemed to have sum oil in it and a burnt spark plug. Am I right to believe the gasket n grommets are worn and need to be replaced?
What do u do if you so happen to break one of the valve cover head screws in the process how would you get the screw out with the screw head broken off?
Those bolts on the k24a2 can be removed with a 12mm open end wrench the nut is clearly visible when vc is off. Amazing he didn't snap it off using that extension!
Thanks for your feedback! This was preventative maintenance roughly at 60K miles/100K kms. Given the cost of the gasket kit and only an hour labour, totally worth it! Otherwise you would do it if you start seeing oil leaks or seepage from under the cover or through the tubes.
@@AcuraAddicted Great! Thanks! Keep making these awesome videos! I watch every single one you've made and they have been greatly helpful with my maintenance!
@@AcuraAddicted Good idea. I never changed my valve cover gasket and oil seals in my 2004 TSX. The oil got to my #4 spark plug and fouled the plug and coil.
For future viewers, tool list contains (In the order of use): - Lighting - 10 mm rachet w/ medium extension (specific size not mentioned) - Flexible Magnet tool (If you're clumsy & optional) - pliers - paper towels - Big flat head screwdriver - Cardboard (to protect your table from dirt from the valve cover) - De-greeser - Valve cover gasket kit (full set in desc.) - Mallet (for spark plug seals) - Gasket sealent - Torque Wrench (Optional) Listed tools that weren't called out in the video: 1/2 in rachet w/ medium extension Break Cleaner Also I haven't personally done this as of typing... Will update when I eventually get it done.
Place gasket sealer here, here, and here (didn’t show where)
Obviously, that’s an immediate dislike, right? Thanks!
Exactly only reason I’m looking for videos on this
its pretty obvious lol

Thank you, good points!
My wife just purchased a 2006 TSX. I noticed some seepage coming from the valve cover gasket. Thanks for the video. Weekend project now.
You’re welcome! Let me know how it goes after. Thanks!
Could take the intake tube off to make way more working room on the right side
Didn't feel the need to bother, but good point!
@@AcuraAddicted I’m more saying for people who are scared to do it
Do i really need sealer ? Acura said it doesnt
Yes
@@AcuraAddicted which brand do you recommend
Is this job done the same way for 04-08 tsx?
I don't know for sure, but likely yes.

Yes
Are the spark plug seals replaceable on a 2018 Acura TLX 2.4 engine?
They should be

You will need a special extractor tool. It's inexpensive, you just have to get the proper size for your bolt.
